"Blissfully Unaware" delves into the depths of human experience, exploring themes of isolation, loneliness, imposter syndrome, and, of course, love. Despite the weighty subjects, the collection maintains a hopeful tone throughout, leaving readers with a sense of reassurance that better days are ahead. The author's writing style is a standout feature, with a majority of the poems adopting a lyrical form that dives deep into the psyche and offers introspective reflections. Poems such as "Living for Hope," "Bittersweet Echoes," and "Ode for the Journey" captivate with their rhythmic style, while others like "College Days" evoke nostalgia, and "Late Night Dreamers" and "Simple and Easy" stand out for their unique formatting. Personally, I found "Simple and Easy" particularly striking, leaving me with an unrolling feeling inside. As someone who stumbled upon this collection during a time of needing mental refreshment, I can attest to its effectiveness in providing solace and rejuvenation. However, it's worth noting that "Blissfully Unaware" may appeal more to those who appreciate contemporary poetry styles. Overall, it's a collection that offers comfort, insight, and a reminder that amidst life's challenges, there is always room for hope and happiness.

‘Blissfully Unaware’ is a very endearing collection of poetry that focuses on very human experiences, from feeling hopeless to regaining hope.

It is obvious that Wheeler has a beautiful imagination as this is reflected in the imagery she uses to represent themes such as self love, insecurities and death.

Most of the poems in this collection rhyme, which might not be to everyone's taste. Personally, I struggled with a lot, but not all, of the rhyming poetry as I felt the lyrical cadence prevented me from being able to fully relate to the poems, despite being invested in their themes.

The collection does feature poems written in more of a free verse and I really enjoyed these. I was able to fully appreciate the imagery in these pieces and would love to see more of this style from Wheeler.

A few of my favourite poems were “All of Us”, “Late Night Dreams” and “College Days”. Wheeler writes on some very relevant and intriguing topics and this collection is worth giving a try.

I think this was a pretty solid poetry collection. I really liked that most of them rhymed, thee days a lot of poetry doesn't have that anymore. But there were also a lot that felt a bit cheesy to me. All in all, I liked it just fine, was just nothing special to me.

I got an arc from booksirens in exchange for an honest review.

Although I am not usually a fan of rhyming poetry, I really enjoyed Blissfully Unaware by Allison Van Wheeler. This collection of poetry will resonate with almost everyone. She has a way of getting her readers to get in touch with their own feelings.

While there were a few beautifully written parts, a lot of the poems felt very forced, especially the rhyming ones.
Overall, the ideas behind the poems were beautiful, but they didn't flow.
