An interesting and insightful autobiography of a man who escaped persecution (as a member of the Hazara minority) in Afghanistan as a child to forge a forward looking and somewhat inspirational life in NZ.
Nazari seems fully integrated as a Kiwi but with an appreciation of his roots, without being able to offer any substantial solution to the mess Afghanistan is currently in, due to the resurgence of that most despicable bunch of sub-humans, the Taliban, over the last few years.
Not that it is his job to do so ... but I wish someone could!
I brought this book after hearing the author speak at a conference. A great insight into the refugee experience from someone who has lived it and been fortunate enough to grow up in NZ. The author recounts his experience, shedding light on the complex issue of refugees, while asking thought provoking questions for the reader to ponder.
