Just when I thought we'd beat my father, I became his prey.

Here, in the depths of the Everglades, I'm not just captive—I'm the main piece in a deadly game I didn’t choose to play. The capo, put there to watch me, is more than just my guard. His stares feel personal. Interested. It frightens me, and it keeps me alive.

Back in Orlando, my lovers, my men, are tearing the state apart to get me back. I'm not just the woman they love—I'm the key that keeps them together.

Then Victor, a little piece of my heart, is thrown into this nightmare, a sick twist meant to torment me.

Now, it's us three—me, Victor, and the capo who is meant to keep us in line—against the walls closing in. Trust is the hardest game to play here, where the stakes are life or death. But it's the only way through, the only shot we have to beat the Viper at his own twisted game.

It's down to fight to get out, or get lost in the dark forever.

If you love dark, twisty, suspense romances from Ana Huang, Lauren Asher, Elle Kennedy, and Lilith Vincent, you're going to love this series.

MFC: Sophia
MMC: Mateo, Grayson, Victor & Jase

This book is part of a series. It is NOT a standalone and the others MUST be read beforehand. POVs in this story: Sophia, Teo, Grayson, Jace & Victor.

Why have a gang leader that faints at the sight of blood 🩸. I don’t particularly like that part. I’d rather have a badass hero along with a badass heroine. Sophia is very weak and whiny through most of the book. Sophia & Victor have been kidnapped by the Viper & are being held in an underground bunker. Teo, Sam & Jace were all injured and needed to seek medical attention. Sam is taking everything hard & hasn’t been forthcoming with information that might be helpful. Viper has been after Teo for years & now he has him right where he wants him.
By this time, she’s slept with all the guys and has certain feelings for each. She’s only told Teo that she loves him. She hasn’t said it to any of the others; Grayson, Victor, Jase. She mentioned to Teo that she loved all her family but that was it. She expresses her feelings for Teo more than any others.
Sophia gets taken by a capo of her fathers (which hasn’t to be a mole [an FBI agent]) they decide to work with the FBI to bring down the Viper. This last book was VERY anticlimactic. I feel like so much more could have been done with the ending of this story. More romance. More spice! The death of her father aka the Viper could have been done better. She just shot him. I feel like something else could have been done here. It just wasn’t enough after all they’d be through throughout the whole series. Her inner monologue was that she loved them all but she never tells the other guys that. I guess they don’t tell her either since Teo told them it was only $€X. It’s like she has 1 real boyfriend/love & 3 f**k buddies. Not really an RH relationship if you ask me.
Repetitive sentences. Words & phrases.
Would have been better if the emotional/romantic feelings/connection were EQUAL throughout the whole group. I liked the first 3 books the best. The last 2 books seemed rushed or maybe thrown together. I’m not 100% sure. I’m still unsure how I feel about it. Overall, it was a great story line and loved most of the characters.

This book, and the series as a whole, were both disappointing.

These last two books have had so many editing issues, it isn't even funny.
In this one, Chapter 17, Grayson walks into the room with Grayson in tow. How does that work?

After having 5 books to work with, how are we still left with more questions? Rather than writing about inconsequential things that go nowhere, why not give us some actual background info?

When they are being held, he tells them they are not locked in so they can go to the bathroom, yet in the room is a toilet. Consistency would be great, here.

I couldn't really feel any emotion from any of them toward each other, especially Grayson., Jace, and Victor toward Sofia. I said it in a previous review, but the dynamic between them all was just off. Teo was so controlling that he allowed her to be with them but only for entertainment, that it just skewed everything, and it didn't work for me.

We had 5 books of buildup, plus every turn was already accounted for by the Viper, and then they end up taking him down all of a sudden at the end. It was just anti-climatic.
I would not recommend these to others, and I will not read them again.
I originally was planning on reading another series by this same author, but now I think I will just skip it.

I really wanted to love this series. I started out loving it and then it seemed like it just kind of spiraled and then was rushed at the end? I won’t rate below three stars because 1. I’m not an author and I know that shits hard and 2. 75% of the series really was fine. It just seemed a bit chaotic in the last two books, organizationally speaking. The reverse harem element was there but also seemed controlling with the whole “they’re here for your entertainment but you’re just mine” thing even though there were feelings and it should’ve been talked about more. There wasn’t much MM after the second book and I’m not even really sure I’d call it MM when there was only a kiss and some touching- not really feelings in a romantic way? Also I feel like for all of the buildup her dad’s murder could’ve been done better. I wanted to dnf but I also wanted to see it through. I want to give the Miami knives a try but I’m nervous after this lol

Kinda disappointing

The whole series was off to an amazing start, but book 4 was a major letdown because of the lack of proofreader and editor. And, this book was so disappointing. There were 5 books of build-up to take down the Everglade Viper, and then it was so anticlimactic. All I could think, is that it? All that build up and suspense for just that?

Plus, was she actually in a relationship with the other 3, or was she just allowed to sleep with them? There was no declaring of love except for Teo - Needs more work

love the series

Love all the books. Was a little disappointed with the ending definitely would have liked more of the group perspective once things are tied up.
