Spur Award and Owen Wister Award-winner Gordon D. Shirreffs weaves an exhilarating tale set in an era preceding modern naval warfare—when pirates still roamed the high seas.
A swordsman with no equal…
Meet Captain Cutlass—a formidable swordsman. A blond, scarred giant of a buccaneer who commands both fear and respect. He is afraid of no man, and the few who dare to cross swords with him never live long enough to tell the tale.
Kate Devon is a she-devil pirate whose seafaring prowess rivals even that of Cutlass. Unyielding and unafraid, she harbors a unique love for the enigmatic captain. Yet, her loyalty is a double-edged sword, as betrayal is an integral part of pirate life, and bounty is their sustenance.
A fierce, violent tale of high passion and greed on the 17th-century Spanish seas.
A pirate novel like no other. Full of sex and violence. The action never flags. Shirreffs was very good at historical novels. A shame he did not write more of them.

This is not my usual genre but O read it anyway. I am sure glad I did. It has lots of action, suspense, and some romance. It was really interesting and hard for me to put down. Just when you see the light at the end of the tunnel you find out it is on the front of a train. Captain Cutlass was a gentleman pirate. He went by the code and expected others to follow it also. He was a great one to figure how to accomplish what others thought was impossible. I do highly recommend this book even if you think it is out of the scope of your normal reading, you will enjoy it.
