When I first started reading romances one year ago I only read Harlequin Blaze novels, because I didn’t know about all the other books than. I used to enjoy the Blazes most of the times. But lately they don’t satisfy me that much anymore. Even favorite authors like Karen Foley and now Tawny Weber can’t grip my attention as they used to do. I’m not sure if it’s because me learning every day about all the other wonderful books so that the Blazes pale in comparison, or that it’s because the authors’ former books were just better… I don’t feel like rereading them, so let’s just say it’s me and my altering taste.

Take Going Down Hard: the second of two books by Ms Weber (The first is Coming on Strong). It’s not bad, but absolutely not worth a five star rating, not even four. While I thought her earlier Blazes, Double Dare and Risque Business, were definitely 5 star reads. The plot of Going Down Hard is okay, with some suspense, though the denouement is a bit disappointing. And the H/h just keep circling around each other. It irritated me a bit that the heroine kept denying how great her relation with Reece could become if she let it be and how wonderful a guy Reece is. It’s not very clear or credible why she keeps her distance. And although there was a lot of sexual tension and a hot encounter before they finally sleep together, that first time toke disappointingly place behind closed doors! Not Blaze-like at all.

Anyway, Going Down Hard was a fun, quick and easy read, but it’s not one I’ll remember for long and it definitely won’t rank the top of my favorites list, like Ms Weber’s earlier books.

Fun and well-written romance
4 stars

This book is the follow on to Weber's previous book Coming On Strong. The characters from the previous book also appear in this on and although they talk about events that occurred in the previous story, the books really do stand alone.

The characters in this book were definitely likeable. Sierra was feisty and straight talking without ever coming across as hard or a stereotype while Reece was a lovely, rugged cowboy with a soft side.

The chemistry between the pair was hot and I only didn't give the book the full five stars because I would have liked some more conversations between Reece and Sierra rather than just their teasing/banter.

Despite that, it was a fun, easy book to read and one that I would recommend for anyone who likes a good romance. 4 stars.

Sierra Donovan has everything a woman could want, at least from the outside. She's a successful career woman, she has good friends, and she's determined to take her business all the way.

Only her business partner knows her secret. For sometime she's been on the receiving end of badly edited, fake, and very sexual photograph's staring herself. Some were so bad that the stalker had put her head on backward, but the constant pictures have left Sierra a nervous wreck. But when her business partner hires Reece Carter to get to the bottom of things (albeit initially as a means of keeping a contract they've both worked hard to get), Sierra faces a problem.

Not only does she know Reece, but there's a sexual chemistry between them that she really doesn't need right now. So when she makes it clear this is strictly business he agrees not to make a move on her, but also makes it clear that the agreement doesn't prevent her from making a move on him.

A romantic thriller, heavier on the sexual tension (It's a Blaze after all) than the thriller. The villain is obvious by halfway through the book, at least to me, but it was an enjoyable read (or rather listen as this was an audible audio book).

I really liked this book. I had humor, emotions, steamy scenes, anger, stubborness, and suspense. I like the ending scene the most, I wouldn't have thought it, but was getting to that conclusion pretty fast. I would definitely read this again, might kinda search this book out. Enjoy

Such a great book. I loved sexy cowboy hero Reece and thought he was the perfect match for sassy, confident Sierra. They were perfect together. Finally she confronts her past and sets things right with Reece. Loved this story.

A fun romantic and very suspenseful read! I've always enjoyed Tawny Weber's Blaze books and this one is one of my top reads by her. I so was guessing who the villain was 3/4 way through the book!

Not bad! The intimate scenes sizzled, and the "mystery" kept me turning pages 'til the end. I had sort of guessed "whodunit" but didn't learn why 'til the end. Glad I stuck it out ...
