Alyanna Rohan never believed in fairy tales and happy endings. At the age of seven, her parents died and she had no choice but to live with her evil aunt and despicable cousin. She was forced to work at a young age and to suffer pain, hunger and loneliness with them.

Despite the hardship, she was still hoping for a better future since her eighteenth birthday was soon to come. That meant Yana can already claim the money and assets that her parents left for her.

But her life turned into a mess when her loathsome relatives deceived her and stole all her money at the bank. They abandoned her with nothing. Yana's future was in chaos and now she was twice as miserable!

All her dreams just disappeared! Even her fantasy of going to college vanished as well! She got nowhere to go and her only chance of survival was to accept an old man's advice that she should work for a guy named Brylle Zaffiro.

Yana found her way to Brylle's house and there she attested that she will never be a fan of fairy tales! That was because the sudden twist in her life made it clear that the reality she was facing was way more magical, absolutely thrilling, and surprisingly romantic!

I gave up. Chapter 14. Page 85

This kind of story really doesn't suit me. If contemporary romance irked me, this one is worst. I feel like I'm watching a Pinoy Fanta-serye with lots of cheesy romance and stupid characters. The dialogue is irritating and their budding romance is full of "Ow Em Ji" (the author's word, not mine!).

Yana is so stupid, I want to bash her head when she went back to her former house to pay the debt that was not her responsibility in the first place. She should have sued that woman! Oh well, the girl wasn't using her brain and claimed she's an excellent student? She even allowed herself to be a slave of a stranger just because she's penniless and have nowhere to go. Doesn't she have a friend, at least? She said that she's talkative and yet she's not friendly enough to gain even one loyal friend?

The story is very predictable too. I am 100% sure that she's the lost-princess-of-some-magical-kingdom-with-powerful-bloodine, that she'll even surpass the abilities and skills of Brylle. The stealing of her properties and money in the first part of the story is not even convincing. She should have sued that bank who authorised the transfer without her presence! Signatures and papers are not enough unless the person is already dead.

The only thing that kept me going was the magical settings and the creatures. It is intriguing but not enough to make me stay. The illustration in between pages are also cool. It will give you an idea how the characters looks and some scenes.

Anyway, I just decided to DNF this book because it's not really my genre and I was cringing on each pages with cheesy dialogues between Yana and Brylle.

Ewan! Hindi ko rin maintindihan sarili ko."

Isn't it really a man?

Panglima, I'm greatly disappointed sa changing of POVs.

I was looking for an interesting book until I saw this book along with other pop fic books in a shelf of a bookstore. I bought and read this book and this is insights about it so far:

Plot - The plot is a cliche and predictable. But there are some parts that caught my attention that should be emphasized. To be honest, I was quite disappointed because of the events in the chapter were rushed. 6-8 pages were not enough to emphasize every scenes in a chapter. There were lots of plot holes in the chapters that should have been emphasized.

Character - The characters were too cliche. There's not that much new in the characters' concept and their personalities were not much developed. Brylle (the wizard) has the potential to make the whole concept different but I was disappointed because he was portrayed as a cold, mr. masungit type of guy. But he was later on portrayed as an emotional, moody type.
Yana's personality was too ordinary to me and her personality was too boring for me. The way the characters' mood and concept was written in a feminine tone that somehow hinders the whole story's potential.
The romance part was too cheesy and rushed. Everything was centered on Yana which led me to think that the whole concept was too idealistic. My expectations dropped when I read the succeeding chapters.

Structure - The story's structure was okay. POVs helped me understand the feelings of the characters.

Overall, despite of its flaws and cliche concept, Wizard's Tale is one of the best wattpad stories around. The book was entertaining and fun to read. It definitely became my stress killer.

Recommendation - The feminine tone of writing very much appeals to younger teens. So, I recommend this book to younger teens who are fans of fairytale and magical romance.

This is the best book that I have so far.. Binasa ko na ito for like 5 times now.. And hindi sya nakaksawa, at first Naboboringan ako at naiinis lalo na yung sa pagmamaltrato ng tita nya,, BUT!!! Ito lang naman yun, kung naapektohan ka ng pangyayari it means to say it is effective right?

We cannot make the book really perfect because the author is a young and am-mature one.. Pero magaling talaga sya.. I don't expect too much but she exceeded my imagination.. GALING!!!

This is the first novel by a local author I've read! The title and the synopsis got me like love at first sight! If you're into fantasy/romance, I would recommend it! The author have a good sense of humor. The banter between protagonists is on fire! :D

P.S.: If you are looking for your ordinary fairy tale with a happy ending, you're in a wrong place. But if you are looking for a journey to a happier ending, this is it! :D

One of the underrated Wattpad Books written by a Filipino Author. I don't know kung comparable ba siya sa Harry Potter since di ko pa yun nababasa pero talagang nag-invest akong mag-search ng mga characters na nilagay niya just to be part of the Wizard's world of this book. Wish me luck sana makahanap ako ng book 2!

5/5

I read this book when I was 13, I had no idea of plots, characters, cliches, world-building, etc etc. (and if I would read it again, it'd probably have a lower rating) But this helped me get into fantasy, and writing.

I remember being around highschool when I first read this trilogy, and I absolutely loved it back then—even up to the final book. I decided to reread it again last month, but now, I’m not sure... Have I outgrown this story? Maybe.

I bought the physical copy because I thought it would be written better. Maganda naman yung story, pero yung pagkakasulat is very cheesy. Still love it though, light read and enjoyable.

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. And as a Potterhead, I personally consider reading any fantasy and any magical-related novels as sacrilege or disrespect. Early this year, I accidentally bumped to a bookshelf in a local bookstore here in our province. This particular book, “Wizard’s Tale” caught my attention. I found myself in the cashier and bought the book. Later that night, I scanned its pages. And what seemed to be just scanning and skimming turned out to be leafing its pages until to the very end. I just couldn’t put it down. I was magically hooked. I finished reading the book in just one whole night. Well, though it is not comparable to Harry Potter series, I feel a sense of pride that Pinoys could really match any novelist in writing relative to fantasy and wizarding world. This book is a combination of the resurrected and long-lost trading of story telling, the likes of Pedro Penduko, the nuno-sa-punso, and other folkloric tales to the tune of modern or present era of presenting a tale. Like Harry Potter, one of the central themes is about friendship, loyalty and the joy of being in love. The magical sensibilities are added to create not just an illusion, but a reality that everything is possible when one just believe. Now after reading, I realize that WT1 is not a disrespect anymore, I consider this book as a companion to my HP books, and once more brought my senses into being that I really believe in magic. I still do.
