Could it be too much of a mess for them to handle? Or are the best things in life worth fighting for and could they somehow make a horrible mess, beautiful?
For the past 21 years, I have been a planner and an organizer. I always needed things a specific way and then everything changed for me. I've always had a vivid imagination and thoughts racing through my mind. I realized that life is way too short to let things pass me by, because in the blink of an eye everything could change. So I decided to just live in the moment, taking every chance and opportunity led my way. No second thoughts and just going with the flow.
I decided to put the fictional characters and the conversations going on in my head to paper. I know, it makes me sound crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've embraced crazy and hectic and last minute because it's led me to making my dreams a reality.
When I'm not writing Happily Ever After's I'm reading about them and living one. I think this world is filled with too much sadness already we don't need to read about it as well. I write because I love it and I've allowed my imagination to run wild and be crazy and free. Just like me. ❤
I am so thrilled to announce that I just signed with Limitless Publishing! The Beautiful Series will be getting a huge makeover with brand new covers and I can't wait to unveil those, which will hopefully be within the next month or so. In doing so, I had to take the books down from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and Smashwords because of the whole makeover. But when I upload them again the books will be also be available in paperback as well as audio within the next couple of months!!
I'm just looking forward to when I get to a hold an actual, legit copy of my books in my hands and not on my iPad :)
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has read either or both of the books. I'm so amazed by your kind words and humbled by this whole experience.
this story of Ashlynn Miller and Jason Williams is the 2nd story in the beautiful series ( so if you haven't read the first one beautiful idea READ IT) this story wull make you laugh cry and wish for more. (no spoilers you wanna know what happens in the amazingly beautiful mess with Jason and Ashlynn and the gang READ IT)
I loved Ashlynn's character. She was so smart and had such a good head on her shoulder. I couldn't imagine what she went thru losing her mom at 4 years old. It would be so hard. Jason and his indecisiveness bugged me. He would want her then not want her and she just let it happen. This book was alright I felt a bit rushed just as I was getting into it it just ended. I read it in just a couple hours. I liked to see Jason grow a little and finally realize he was worth a lot more than his father had told him his whole life. There was a lot of ups and downs in this story. I would save 3.5 stars. Not great but not bad either.
A Beautiful Mess is the perfect follow up to the first book in the series. I think Emily did a great job of introducing all the characters in the first book so that we would look forward to their stories. This is a sweet story with just enough angst to keep you going. I love that we get a Jason POV and can see what's going through his mind and not left wondering if this guy is just a jerk or what. This story really touched my heart and I was so happy to see the HEA. This author has grown so much and Im excited to see what comes next.
I was asked for an honest review if I was given a ARC, Here it is….. Well when I was asked to review this book I was thrilled and excited to be offered the opportunity to be able to give my say about a novel that was being made. When I first read A Beautiful Idea, I fell in love with the characters and all the different emotions that could be expressed in such a short novel. At the end I was rooting for Izzie and Maddox to finally be together and sort out their shit, which they did, (THANKFULLY), anyways, what I found from this book was something different thought.
Although I was really excited and eager to read more about Jason and ash, I just felt like the whole book was a bit rushed, like one minute their fighting the next their in love and have a family again, so it sort of threw me off a bit cause I was so used to the into depth study of the characters just like in A Beautiful Idea, I’m not saying that this book isn’t good or anything but I was a bit disappointed about there being so little to the story, and there basically being a sort of dead end, like I get it, their father called, he was dying and it effected Jason, but it didn’t effect Jason and Ash together in a sense of a “couple” and that was what I was expecting from the previous book, but all in all I enjoyed reading through it and enjoyed all the cute honeymoon stage comedy, it just needed a little bit of an “OMG NO WAY I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED!” kind of thing.
But all in all I found this book to be very good and I would recommend this to anyone looking for an quick interesting read, and I would definitely read this again, its able to fill in the blanks that may have been missed when reading the first book, but this is just my review, Je xx
I enjoyed the first book much better, I assumed we would get a different plot than the first. Boy and girl ignore their feelings and give mixed signals.
Jason was like a yo-yo, he didn't know what he wanted when it came to Ash. Every time he would push her away and be an ass she would accept him back with little or no groveling or much of an apology. And the author took the title too far... "beautiful mess". You could have made a drinking game out of how many times one of those words were said, together and alone. It was too much...it was much more subtle in the first book. Like I said, I assumed we would get a different plot...not just an ass for a male lead this time and the title words thrown in over and over.
I was two pages into the first chapter when I was immediately turned off of reading this novel by Jason describing how much he wanted to sleep with Ashlyn and acting like a total dick when they were with their friends. I could just see the melodramatics brewing and I didn't want to be a part of it.
This series is entirely too mushy and unrealistic. Another one where people just don't talk like this in real life. This one was even more annoying by the overuse of the characters full names and an exaggerated use of detail. So exaggerated that it felt like the author needed a certain amount of words to publish, so she put them in.
With all that being said, it's tolerable and has a decent enough plot for me to want to know what's going to happen.
ok let's see..i love Emily's book so I expected this to be good, but it's not!!!GOOD is an understatement... :) THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!!not so dramatic, light read, funny, swoon worthy...and i mean i'm swooning right from the start, yeah the Prologue..Will wait for the next book! :)xo!
Someone catch me I'm dying for this , first of all I feel for Ashlyn and judging from the 1st book Jason is a man whore and a big time jerk who doesn't deserve her I can't wait to get to no the characters and I want to see this new Jason real bad sayanora bitches xoxo
Rounded up to 2 stars. Not totally bad, but a very weak OK.
Ashlynn (h) has had a crush on her best friend's brother Jason (H) for almost three years. They are reaching their breaking point as junior year comes to an end. A passionate kiss leads to lots of back and forth from Jason, as he tries to put his past behind him and accept that he's good enough for Ashlynn. Lots of sex, oft-repeated I-Love-Yous, and a pregnancy follow.
While the first book in the series was kinda obviously an early work from the author, it felt like she didn't really know where to go from there. The writing in general is very, very flat - the whole show vs tell argument with narration. This one was really bland in how things were described. And the conversation often sounded stilted and forced. Like, at the end, the last few chapters mention several times "the day my mother was born". Wouldn't most people say "my mother's birthday"? It just sounded odd, especially when that was the only way she referred to the day. Clunky, you know? Or very Godfather OTT, "this, the day of my daughter's wedding" wording. And that's just one example.
But really, the whole story was pretty flat. The two of them had been attracted to each other for years, but doing the whole push-pull nonsense. Hurting each other without explanation or apology (mostly him hurting her with his indecisiveness, but also her being a freaking dormat, not speaking up about anything, either). And then they just start f*cking like bunnies before their senior year of college, get knocked up, and now it's "I love you, Ashlynn" "I love you Jason" every other page. Seriously, it was pretty boring as far as story or character development went. Like, years of abuse just gone so easily? And then we spend for-eeeeeeeeee-ver (it felt like) with her pregnancy glow. This could have been a decent story - coming to terms with a painful past, lots of sparks between friends trying not to be something more, etc. But really, the only progress seemed to be lots of sex, before talking to his dad, and now it's fine? He gets one 'Come To Jesus' talk with his sister (Yeah, my Southern is showing), and he's now totally OK with being a dad at 21, even before his college graduation? Like, we spent more time in repetitive inner dialogue or with Amazing Sex and professions of devotion than we did with any real character development.
I realize that this is Romancelandia and everything wraps up neatly, but I did have a few questions. (1) She knew he slept around a lot. He knew he slept around a lot. While they (obviously) didn't care about pregnancy, what about STIs?? Wrap it up! (2) Yes, he eventually came to terms with his dad before he passed, but who would then immediately turn around and name their firstborn after their abuser??? (3) Weird, weird, weird delivery scene. Like too short and too detached from the actual delivery?
A good handful of typos and errors. A few continuity errors. Not the worst I've read, but enough to be noticeable.
Alternating 1st person POV. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle nonsense. Compared to how the characters were the first book, I thought we'd be getting a lot more spark with these leads. Instead, it was really flat narration, lots of bland push-pull dithering from Jason, and really forced "growth". And like, a third of the story filled with lots of I Love Yous and pregnancy updates. Just blah. HEA and epilogue, with no cliffhanger but a lead in for the next book.
Would I read more in the series? Yeah, but I'm not in a rush either. I found the complete series in a Kindle box set, and while they're OK, they aren't favorites either. Still, sometimes you're looking for predictable and mindless escapism.
Book 2 in the Beautiful series. This follows the story of Ashlynn and Jason, picking up at the tale end of 'Beautiful Idea.' In general, I liked the book. The writing is not stellar but the general new adult romance concept is there. My main problem is the author's decision to change the name of one of the characters from book one. Ryder is not Maddox? The detail threw me for a loop at first. I'm not sure why there was a change or if it stems from the book being written later. In the long run it is a trivial detail but it irks me nonetheless.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The first one I got annoyed by the Sweetheart endearment but still enjoyed the book. So I had to read the second book and wow I loved it! Only thing I didn't get is all the men crying now don't get me wrong I am all for it but maybe because my hubby has only ever cried twice in the 12 years I have known him it just threw me a bit. But wow this book with all the emotion and the surprises melted my heart. A must read for sure I <3 Jason!
I liked this book. I read Beautiful Idea first and the name of the main character was Ryder now in this book it was Maddox. Not sure if I got a different copy or what but I was disappointed to have two different names. Now back to beautiful mess I liked it some parts went really fast and parts just dragged on. All in all I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
Well first of all I absolutely devoured this story. I couldn't put this down! This was definitely a 5 Star read for me. This is a story about Ashlynn Miller and Jason Williams is the 2nd story in the beautiful series. So if you haven't read the first one beautiful idea, it is a must read. This story will make you laugh, cry and wish to continue
I loved the second book in the Beautiful series. It didn't rehash everything too much. The reader gets to see more than one perspective, not to mention follow-up, Anne precursor information on the series.
Great book love ashlynn was able to make Jason realize that he was worth more then what his dad had told all of his life . Can't wait to see if Jason and ashlynn can handle raising twins. I would recommend this book
I liked this book but not as much as book one. It made me angry with how up and down it was at the start but it puked up in the middle to the end. They were both great characters and got to find out more about them from book one. xx
DNF!!!! The writing was juvenile and very hard to follow. I couldn't get into the characters because they had no depth. I hate not finishing a book, but I just couldn't take the incessant drivel.
I read this book just to finish it - it was not for me. It was more of a speed read than anything else. I did not enjoy the dialogue or the writing. And that's all I have to say about that....
After reading the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to read Ashlynn and Jason's story and I wasn't disappointed. It was a gorgeous read and again emotional. A must read.
