Bree has spent her life trying to stay alive ever since her parents were killed on a traveling trip. Bree and her brother have been kept as slaves to a Lycan clan for three years. But Bree has weakened physically, and despite how much her brother has tried to protect her she is forced to be part of the "hunt" and after three wolves were sent after her she is barely alive in the woods. Her dog Tia, somehow has managed to stay alive with her and brings back help of two Lycans. At first Bree doesn't know what to think of them, but she fears them and wishes to escape somehow. She doesn't realize that these brothers will show her family and peace when she has only known torture and torment at the hands of Lycans. James, has healing powers and when he sees an injured woman in the woods he aids her along with his brother and they make the trek back home healing her along the way. As Bree starts to build a slow trust with James and sees the way his family are so kind to her and the way they live, she starts to trust and have hope again. But her brother is still being held a slave by the Lycan clan and she must save him...
The Hero
James is the son of Tristan and Avery. Tristan a full Lycan and Avery a human. He inherited his healing gifts from his mother. He was raised in a loving home and the moment he met Bree he wanted to show her compassion and that not all Lycans are cruel. To show her love and desire. James has a strong bond with his family, and is very protective. What a character James is and boy I fell hard for him pretty quickly. He is the "right" match for our heroine. He takes it slow and patient with her. He sees that she can't handle a powerful dominating male. That she needs patience and understanding. James is all that and more. I love that he never judges her and accepts her fears and only seeks to help her. He can be alpha sure, but he has the perfect balance and such a nice hero.
The Heroine
Bree is terrified of the Lycans. She has only known slavery at their hands and they can be very cruel. Her only tie is her brother who has protected her for years. But they valued him in a way they never valued her. And Bree was sent away to be hunted. But Bree along with her tiny dog Tia managed to escape from three Lycans and barely alive. Even though Bree is injured and not thinking clearly she is stubborn and creative and still seeks a way to escape and get to her brother. She doesn't ever give up. I understood her fear and reservations about James and his family. But her character is one that I felt a kinship with. She is reserved but a fighter, she isn't passive or submissive at all and I liked her strength and courage.
Plot and Story Line
Red Moon Rising takes off quite a few years after book one. Book one is about James' parents Tristan and Avery. And I knew I wanted to continue this series and this family and Red Moon Rising didn't disappoint at all. I had a blast with this book and couldn't put it down once. Red Moon Rising starts off with action and suspense. Our lovely heroine, is on the run. She is injured with internal injuries and you feel the intensity of the beginning scene that grabs the readers attention right off the bat. She is rescued by the two brothers James and Nicholas. James has healing powers and at first you don't know that. I had forgotten about his mothers gift but the first story came back to me once I started reading this one. I loved how gentle and careful he was with Bree. He gets that she has had a pretty rough time of it and doesn't push her. This is what really drew me in, is the way that this family but most especially treats our heroine. Even though he can be as alpha as they come, he truly is a nice guy. Patient, Considerate and full of compassion and empathy, so rare in such a alpha male. But the author just makes it work and I fell hard for him. He does make mistakes toward the end here, but you can't have a perfect character you need some type of flaw. Granted, our heroine hurts him accidentally and so they have some rough patches they need to hurdle. But this is what made the story so fascinating. Was seeing the character growth, seeing that after seeing them being in love and happy together, that life isn't full of roses. They have thorns too. The family is so enchanting, especially the brother Nicholas and the little sister. She was hilarious and so blunt I just loved it. Then we have the plot dealing with the Lycan clan who is holding her brother captive. Definitely stimulating. I can't wait for Sophie's story coming up next.
The Cover
I like how different it is from most covers, it has a other worldly feel to it. And I love the reddish hues.
Overall View
Red Moon Rising is a stimulating and captivating romance that steals your attention right off the bat....riveting and sensual!!

2.5 stars - The change between Bree believing all Lycans are terrible monsters, to falling in love with a Lycan was just too drastic. They don't even have a single real conversation. Also, calling someone 'little one' is not sexy, it feels a little like pedophilia even if she is 19.

😍 This is my favorite book in the series.

Night Rumble

31 best Short and Tall Couples images on Pinterest | Short girls ...
The MCs height difference.
It's not a true depiction of the MCs (especially the H).

What makes it more enjoyable than book 1:
✅ There's less relationship drama.
✅ Bree is only treated badly by the villain.
✅ Less sex scenes, but just as steamy.🔥
✅ Size difference trope. Bree is called 'little one.'
✅ James only wants Bree—no OW drama.

𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝟏: Tristan (Lycan) and Avery (human).
Tristan’s two children are Sophia, his biological daughter, and Nicholas, whom he’s raising as his own. James is their first child together, after they marry/mate.

𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝟐: Sophia, Nicholas & James are adults. Evan (15) and Leta (10) are new additions.

About Bree (19) and her brother Kaden (29):
Seventeen years ago, their parents were killed. Kaden then raised his younger sister. For the past two years, a Lycan named Draken held them captive. He captures humans and half-Lycans, treating them like cattle, and hunting them for fun. Bree, chosen as prey, is near death when James and Nicholas find her while returning from visiting friends. They rescue her, and James uses his healing powers to save her.

The brothers take Bree and her dog Tia to their home. After suffering abuse and starvation, Bree is mistrustful of all Lycans. She tries to escape several times at night, but each time, a different family member stops her. Slowly, she begins to see the kindness and love in this mixed family of Lycans, half-Lycans, and humans. As she feels the warmth of belonging, Bree starts to trust and love them back.

MCs: James and Bree
They're drawn to each other, but Bree is hesitant b/c she knows her brother hates Lycans. There’s some push/pull and misunderstandings, but it doesn't last long. They become a solid couple much sooner than the MCs in book one.

🛑 SPOILERS BELOW 🛑

A Favorite Scene:
After James and Bree share a sexy moment, she panics and says things she later regrets. James gives her the cold shoulder for a few days. Feeling upset, Bree decides to leave, and Evan follows her. They soon face hostile fairies. Bree fights to protect Evan, and both are hurt. Luckily, James and Nicholas arrive to help. Bree is stabbed by a fairy but doesn’t realize she’s been poisoned.

Bree, keeping Draken and her brother's captivity a secret, invented an aunt for why she has to leave.

James is hurt and angry.
"My brother almost died because of you Bree. We saved your life, took you in and fed you, and gave you a place to stay. You owe us the truth!" He shouted.
"You're a foolish little girl and I should have left you to die in the forest!" He shouted again.

Bree is locked in the bedroom. Feeling guilty about what happened to Evan, she doesn’t ask for help. She’s found nearly dead on the floor. James, shocked and upset, bathes her and shares his bed to heal her.

James feels guilty for what he did and said:
She had left his home because of his cruelty to her, and she had chosen to die from the faerie's spear instead of asking him to heal her.

😍 James, a true alpha, clearly loves Bree: Caring for, protecting and being possessive of her.

🔥 The well-written sex scenes are detailed without being crude. They contain breast play, which is usually non-existent or brief in most romances.

✴️ The Exciting Conclusion: The MCs exchange heartfelt 'I-love-yous'. Draken then arrives with his men and Kaden to get his property back. He takes Leta and will exchange her for Bree. Once he has Bree, he stabs Kaden with a sword and leaves. Kaden is soon healed, thanks to James and his mother. Then the family makes plans to go after Draken, using Sophia as bait to distract him.

In the final battle, Draken’s men are killed, but Draken manages to escape. He reappears in the next book about Sophia and Kaden.

Minor Drama: Maya & Marshall and their family come for a visit, bringing Martine who wants James. He makes it clear from the start that he's not interested.

● The MCs get engaged at the end.

● Kaden & Sophia's story is next. There is a lot of push/pull with Kaden fighting his attraction to Sophia, who's a strong alpha. He really hates Lycans. (This one is not a favorite.)

⬅ 📚 ➡ The ongoing story of the Williams' family continues. Reading about former and new characters is what makes this series a good one.

This book was pretty good. I stay a 3.5 - 4 rating.
I defiantly enjoyed the 1st book more, but this was a pretty good read. I am definitely interested in reading the 3rd book about Kaden and Sophia.
So I really liked how the book starts of about 22 years later and the story is about Tristan and Avery's children. A lot times when I read about the hero and heroine having children you usually see them as toddlers or something in the epilogue and I have found myself often wondering about their future and possible scenarios the children might face when they all are grown up, but I have never come across that story line until now and I loved it!
So this story is about Tristan and Avery's 3rd child (or their first biological child) James. It starts off with the heroine's POV, Bree. She is running from a pack of Lycans that have held her as a slave only to be released and hunted down. She is on the brink of death when James and his brother Nicky jump in to save the day. So I can understand Bree's hesitancy when she first runs into James and Nicky, with them both being Lycan and her being a slave to Lycans for 2 years. Then she meets the family who are mixed humans and Lycans and are very nice and polite to her, but she still does not trust them. Okay, I can understand that too, but what bugged me was that she then asks for a job, still not trusting them and jumping at everything that moved. I don't know, it might just be me but I don't care for heroine characters that scare so easily, cry all the time and seem very dependent on others. And the way she acts towards Avery was a little disturbing to me. I can understand her affection for Avery, because she is awesome, but with her crawling onto Avery's lap like a child or pet? And then later wanting to call her Mama while she fantisicing about Avery's son? I don't know, just something about that bothered me and made Bree seem overwhelming codependent.
James was okay. He was very patient, maybe a little too patient with Bree at times, but I did like his character and I loved his dirty mouth. He made some scenes quite interesting.
The climax was really good and one the reasons for the higher rating. Also I got to read a little more of Tristan and Avery. Plus we saw the developing love/hate relationship between Sophia and Kaden. Which by the way I can't wait to read their story; looks very intriguing.

It's good

It was a little slow to begin with but good. 1 thing I noticed is there isn't really any mention of lycans super hearing and sense of smell, there are diff parts that kind of mention the smell but this book does not. I like how it's different thn others

I loved getting to see characters from the first book come back and grow as life has changed. I really enjoy seeing the family dynamic in this series I think all the characters grow individually and as a group and that’s what makes this a good series. Steamy scenes as always A+

This is book 2 in the series and follows the romance between James and Bree. Baby James who we were introduced to in the epilogue of book 1 is now a 22 year old man and comes across a severely injured Bree whilst on his way home with his brother Nicky (Nicholas). When I say comes across, what I should say is that Bree's dog Tia seeks them out and leads them back to Bree.

Bree is a human slave on the run from her owner's pack. In her story, we learn that Draken, her owner, participates in the old tradition of 'the hunt' in which a human slave is released and a group of lycans will hunt them down, kill them and take their head back as proof of their kill. Bree hasn't followed the rules though and she has managed to kill one of the lycans sent after her. He did manage to inflict severe injuries though so James saves her in more ways than one. James has inherited his mother's healing power and despite her fear and hatred for lycans, James manages to partially heal her.

James and Nicky take her back to their home and we are introduced to his younger siblings Evan and Leta as well as being re-introduced to Sophia. Leta is everything that an annoying 10 year old little sister should be and I'll admit to having some lol moments learning about her character. Despite her initial hatred of lycans, she is persuaded to stay with the family and they employ her to help around the house. Bree is saving her wages so she can go back to Draken's pack and 'break' her brother Kaden out. She hasn't quite worked out how she is going to achieve it but in her determination to succeed in her plan, she gets Nicky to teach her how to fight with a sword which because of her size, seems to weigh more than she does!

As their romance blossoms, James learns of Kaden's existence and the family formulate a plan to rescue him from Draken. Although we get to meet Kaden, not everything goes according to plan and danger follows them.

Although it is 22 years after book one, there doesn't seem to have been much industrial progress and it is still a pre-Victorian era in terms of mod cons. I've enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one and am thoroughly enjoying the series.

Red Moon Rising... come meet James. He is Avery and Tristan's first child and he is a fine showing in the worldly world of passing down the sexy gene. I am going to have to say that they really did a good job with the recipe that they used and this kid turned out perfectly tasty. He is darkly sinful, deeply decadent and sexifably spicy. He is the sort of lycan that you could have with any wine. You know... butterfly that! He could make vinegar taste good. This is one delicious hero who is about to meet his mate.

This book had a great balance for me--Fast paced story with entertaining characters, a decent amount of action, paranormal theme, and spicy intimate scenes. I read the first book a while ago, and I really enjoyed it too. I was confused as to the time period in the beginning--(things like their clothing, way of speaking, use of electricity, and riding of horses were conflicting) I forgot this series takes place AFTER the fall of modern civilization, and the population reverts back to almost a medieval way of life. Unless I missed it, this was not explained until way into the story. Besides that, the story flowed very well for me. Again, I did read the first book, but I don't think you need to to understand the family dynamic and basic plot line--this was explained well. I liked the main characters--hero is a strong-willed alpha, and heroine is smart and independent. Trust doesn't come easy in this book, and I enjoyed the build up to the romance. I will definitely read the next installment to this series!

Red Moon Rising by Elizabeth Kelly continues this family saga that just keeps getting better. The new characters compliment the story and build on the previous brilliance. The action scenes are thrilling and i have to wonder how many ways there are to kill a faery and is this a skill that i should be developing right now? I thought the book before this one was incredibly good and it was, is, but this book here makes Kelly's brilliance shine a little brighter. If i could just read about this family and how it survives and evolves I think i would be okay until the real world interrupts. This book is very good and if you read Red Moon you simply MUST read this next!

Red Moon Rising is the sequel to Red Moon and it's an quiet enjoyable and awesome read. Like its prequel this book is a post-apocalypse meets paranormal meets some old-ways meets romance, which personally make for a very interesting read. Red Moon Rising is a story filled with mystery, love, lust, healers, werewolves, distrust, broken people on the mend, and so much more. After reading Elizabeth Kelly's fantastic Red Moon Rising I can't wait to read the third book, Dark Moon .

Red Moon was thoroughly enjoyable. You feel the connection these two have. It's not instant, they grow threw the book, which makes it more connectable to the readers. Although most women who choose this book for it's fantasy, it still gives you a real connection to the readers. The flow of writing was wonderful, not straight to the point, but didn't drag on to where you want to skip pages to get to the plot. This series is wonderful and each story smoothly ties into the next family members journey.

I lived the first book. I didn't know if more were coming out so I would check back from time to time. A couple years later and there are 4 new stories. So Syked! Bree was a little 2 mousy for me but she has grown on me quite a bit. James was great. So much fun. Hope there is more after #5. Please be more.

The first book was slightly better but this was still great. A natural progression to see what the combination of lycan and human healer parent would be. I thought the reasons keeping James and Bree apart were good and that the working through these was well-done. The sex scenes were skillfully done.
