One night changed everything. For me. For him. For us. Until the next morning when he acts like it never happened…
Maddox Stone For years I’ve resisted the attraction I have to my best friend’s little sister.
Unfortunately, avoiding her didn’t make things easier. The feelings didn’t go away, they only grew over time. Which brings me to my current predicament: she’s my new roommate.
Keeping my hands off my one and only temptation will be downright impossible.
Trazia Collins Falling for your brother’s best friend is the lamest play in the book.
What can I say? I’m putty in his hands every time he flashes that crooked smile my way. But Maddox crushed my heart when he admitted to having no recollection of the night we spent together. And now living under the same roof as him is becoming unbearable.
Especially since I’m carrying a secret I won’t be able to hide much longer.

4.5 ⭐️
The bookA Memory That Once Wasmay have been the third book inBraxton Useries, but for me it was my first read from the series. As well as my first read from new to me author Lexi Bissen.
The storytelling of Trazia Collins and Maddox Stone through their dual POVs in this Forced Proximity with Brother’s Best Friend/Roommate leading to Surprise Pregnancy in a Sports Romance had me hooked right from the start until the very end, being such a wonderful read with having thoroughly enjoyed it.
From getting to know Trazia and Maddox as individuals through their POVs chapters, to watching their friendship blossom into so much more due to their growing feelings for one another. Only to explode after after their one night stand, resulting to a lot more than either expected or anticipated. Particularly Trazia. Was it any surprise the book had me not wanting to stop reading.
Whilst Trazia and Maddox’s relationship may have worked out in the end, that didn’t mean the journey they ventured was all smooth sailing. Having encountered unsteady footing from the rockiness they faced individually and together, courtesy of secrets kept that upon disclosure led to some drama, which played into the emotional ride they went through filled with ups, downs and highs and lows. From happiness, excitement and joyfulness or sadness, heartache, anger and despair, author Lexi had you feeling it all alongside Trazia and Maddox. Both of whom expressed it loud and clearly within their inner monologue. Ultimately helping to pave way within their character development that also allowed us to explore the deeper depths of their characters given their inner demons they were battling, although more so in Trazia’s case given her past issues.
One thing that truly shined in this book which Lexi had me loving was the found family camaraderie between Trazia and Maddox and their friends in the form of secondary characters, which included Trazia’s brother and Maddox’s best friend Camden. The way they were all there for both Trazia and Maddox within the obstacles and hurdles they endured and faced was truly sweet and adorable, proving that being family doesn’t mean having to be blood related.
Truly a job well done to new to me author Lexi Bissen, for being my first read from herA Memory That Once Wasturned out to not only be a wonderful read. But a sweet and cute story with following Trazia and Maddox on their journey from Friends to Lovers that was filled with an array of emotions that got to you, resulting in being hooked.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lexi Bissen has created a group of characters that are so easy to love and enjoy! With each new book in the series I dont ever want it to end!
A Memory That Once Was is a brother’s best friend, surprise pregnancy romance that has you absolutely loving the two main characters Maddox and Trazia! I love both of them! Maddox is definitely the charming guy who is a comedian. Trazia, I adore her completely, she is caring and so kind. The two together just fit effortlessly! This story really packs the emotion and the sweetness into it. I enjoyed every minute of it and I devoured this book! I didn’t want it to end. I have been so intrigued with their story since book one of the series and I’m so happy we got it!
I really enjoyed this book and this world of characters! I love every time I’m reading them. I definitely think this is a read for all! I recommend it for anyone!
One night changed everything. For me. For him. For us. Until the next morning when he acts like it never happened…
Could Trazia and Maddox move past what happens between them?
This book for me I really felt the chemistry and emotion. Trazia is the forbidden best friend’s little sister. They had chemistry from the first time they met and over they years every time they are near each other they have the crushing chemistry.
Tranzia definitely has some things she needs to work through with feeling like she has to weigh all her options before she admits that she’s crushing on Maddox. Maddox from the start has eyes for Trazia he too once realizing he shouldn’t feel how he does cause he doesn’t want to mess up his friendship. Before I get ahead of myself just know that I absolutely adored this book so much! This series has had me hooked from the beginning, I was so happy Maddox and Trazia got a story! Seeing glimpses of all the previous characters and how much they have grown into a tight little family I absolutely loved that! I can’t wait for more of this series.
This book is light hearted, cute and a great love story. My only complaint is how far fetched some of it is, but that’s fiction for you. Haha!
I do love the brothers best friend trope and felt Lexi Bissen did it well. The right amount of anger from big brother, while also accepting what’s happening.
I loved being able to see Maddox grow as a character and overcome his own obstacles. I didn’t expect the outcome with his parents but it made me happy. The entire friend group also gave me all of the feels. They’re all so supportive and loving which I couldn’t get enough of.
This is the 3rd book in the series and I haven’t read the first two but I’m getting them off to KU next.
Thank you Lexi Bissen and The Next Step PR for this eARC
Arc review for A Memory that once was by Lexi Bissen I was chosen to receive an advance reader copy of this novel and I thought it was great fun read. This is the Third book in the Braxton U series. This is the first book I read in this series but i really enjoyed it a lot. It was a fun fast paced read that could put down once I began the book I’m definitely going to have to go back and read the other two now that I read this one. The book tropes are brothers best friend which is one of my favorite book tropes and surprise pregnancy and forced proximity. I really liked The main characters Trazia and Maddox and the way there story develops through out the book. This was a fun and enjoyable read I highly recommend you give it a chance when it comes on February 22 you will love it as much as I did. 🥰
i love Traz 🍑 and maddox. they are so sweet together.
this is a perfect brothers best friend type trope. high school crush. cute back and forth banter. i will say pretty predictable as far as romance goes, but an enjoyable read nonetheless. 🥹
I absolutely adored Trazia and Maddox’s story! Their chemistry was so perfect, and it was cute how supportive Maddox was of the…turn of events in Trazia’s life, even without knowing the truth.
the full list of trigger warnings will be at the bottom of this review, to avoid spoilers ADHD (diagnosed but not treated), mentions of abortion and adoption, a dangerous incident during pregnancy
My heart went on an adventure with this one! Thankfully, I got a good hug and a healthy cry out at the end to kiss all the hurt away. Three books in, this found family absolutely feels familiar and safe. So getting to experience it through Maddox and Trazia’s journey was truly so beautiful. I was a little worried about the overbearing, overprotective brother niche, but boy does that come in handy in a different way later on! I loved the age difference reference, acknowledging that they don’t have an age gap by number but by the difference of place in their lives. When they end up in the same place, it becomes uneven ground. But they manage to find their footing, together, and that’s really all that matters. The version of Maddox Stone I love the most became a permanent fixture, after making me worry that he would have to grovel to ME. He’s outgoing, the joker of the bunch. But he’s passionate and cares so deeply. Trazia sees how beautiful his heart is, and has no issue acknowledging that and making sure he feels loved for who he truly is. It’s Maddox and Trazia against the world, something he is SO determined to prove time and time again.

Our Braxton U crew is back for Trazia and Maddox's story. This was such a sweet, tender, beautiful romance!
Trazia has had a crush for years on Maddox, her older brothers best friend, roommate, and teammate. But being 3 years younger and having a super protective older brother means those feelings can never be acted on. But when she's a senior in high school, Trazia goes on a spring break trip with her brother and all his friends, including Maddox. A drunken hook up leads to an accidental pregnancy, thus changing the course of their lives forever.
This book put my emotions through the ringer! I felt the pang of sadness for Trazia as she crushed on Maddox for years. I felt her heartbreak when Maddox didn't remember their time together. I felt her fear when she found out she was pregnant and too scared to tell Maddox, her friends and family. I felt her love for her baby. I felt her joy as the pieces of her life fell into place.
So many accidental pregnancy books involve drama and adversity when the main character finds out they're pregnant, so I really appreciate the different approach in this story. Trazia and Maddox, while scared, had an amazing support system from their friends and family. Everyone was respectful of her decision to keep the baby and willing to help them in any way they could. And the pregnancy helped mend broken family bonds.
This was a sweet, beautiful love story that I absolutely recommend!
Releasing 2/22/24! I received an advance ebook but the review is my own.

Trazia and Maddox, finally, they get their story told! I love that we finally get to hear bout the time they first met all those years ago when the sparks flew. Maddox is just the ultimate jokester he is the one that yeah he’s a little bit of a player, but he’s the one that always has the quick comeback to the quick joke in the group. You never know what he’s gonna say he always keeps everybody on their toes, which keeps things interesting. Trazia might be younger but she is feisty, I love that about her but she’s harboring this crush for Maddox since the moment she saw them but the age gap and the fact that he’s her brother‘s best friend is an issue. Fast forward years later, and now they’re both in the same place going to university things change. Watching them navigate the changing circumstances is interesting because they are good friends, but watching them become more than that is fun. Fighting their attraction is interesting to watch because they are so good together. Once they stop fighting it it’s beautiful to witness. They are so good together I’m glad they figure it out. They are meant to be together, and I absolutely love this book. All the crazy shenanigans between all the friends and all ups and downs it’s so much fun. I’m glad they found their way back to each other and got their happily ever after.
Lexi Bissen is a new to me author and I truly enjoyed her writing. This book was a quick read that kept me captivated. I absolutely loved the main characters as well as the side characters there interaction and dialogue had me laughing and my husband looking at me like I was nuts.
Trazia & Maddox secretly pining for each other for the last three years but with her being his best friends/teammates little sister she was off limits. One drunken night between the two on spring break changes the trajectory of their future and their relationship.
Tropes -College Romance -Soccer Romance -Brothers Best Friend -Found Family -Accidental Pregnancy
A Memory that Once Was by Lexi Bissen is the story of Maddox and Trazia (Peach). The situation between these two is improbable and hard to believe. But, it’s a cute story. They meet when her brother starts as college and Maddox is his roommate. Trazia fall immediately and it is reciprocated. Things occur that he doesn’t remember…and suddenly there’s a surprise!
Lots of he said/she said in this story. Then there’s way too much emphasis on the events afterward. Good story. 3 ½ stars
I received this as an ARC. 3.5 ⭐️ At the beginning it was mentioned she wanted to study psychology and then later I was confused with her wanting to become a teacher. That’s the only the thing that had me taken back a bit. Other than that the plot thicken pretty quick I would have love more banter between the main characters. I’m just a sucker for that kind of stuff.
One thing that annoyed me was her pov on her holding back information because in a real life setting I don’t think you can able do that but i get it, it was all part of the drama 🤪. I really like how they were both able to pick up the pieces and come together. The sense of community all these character gave and how they were all ready to step up and show support was very inspiring and sweet. That was probably my favorite part of the story.
I read this book as an arc and throughly enjoyed it. The story is a relatively quick read and I had a blast. Trazia and Maddox make a great couple and I definitely feel like they got their perfect ending.
This is a review following the receiving of an ARC
Lexi delivered a book that I couldn't put down. The storyline was so enjoyable, I loved how Maddox was determined to help Trazia when she received news that would change her life. The characters were so perfect, and I enjoyed reading their reactions to Trazia's news.
The development of Maddox as a character was perfect. He cared for Trazia, so much, and was determined to stay by her side, especially when she went through a tragic event. Trazia was a strong character who went through a number of events that only made her stronger.
Tropes: Brothers best friend Slight age gap Sports romance ⚽️ College Surprise pregnancy One night
Trazia has had a thing for her brother’s roommate/ turned best friend since she first seen him at move in day. Now that she’s officially older, and moving to the same college, she hopes things can change.. and boy do they, one hot summer day.
Maddox also has had a crush on Traz since first seeing her, but knew he couldn’t act on it. That’s totally breaking bro code. Little does he know(he was drunk)… he already did.
Maddox is such a simp. Even before he knows Traz is having his baby, he is there for her.
I loved Trazia and Maddox’s story so much. I love that each book of this series has real world events that people experience. You can feel the emotion and love in this book every chapter. The friend group in this series is a friend group every young adult needs in life!
The Braxton U has been one of my favorite college romance series. A Memory That Once Was focuses on two characters who have been previously mentioned, Maddox and Trazia. In this brother's best friend and accidental pregnancy romance, readers will quickly fall in love with the MCs. Told in alternating perspectives we get a chance to learn more about Trazia and Maddox's inner thoughts as well as their past family dynamics that have affected their outlook on relationships. I would recommend this novel to readers who love to see positive character growth as well as spicy romance.
Lexi knocked it out again with this book. Trazia and Maddox's story is one of my favorite reads so far this year. The way the chemistry flowed between Trazia and Maddox was perfect. I found myself laughing and crying at parts of the book and I am not one to cry while reading.
3 years ago Trazia Collins & Maddox Stone met for the first time. Trazia was still in high school and Maddox was moving into college with her older brother Camden. Now 3 years later they are both going to be going to the same college. Spring break has arrived and they are together with all of their friends enjoying the beach, sand, and sunshine. Maddox also sees Trazia for the woman she has become, and a little too much alcohol one night they explore each other with no strings attached. Perfect for Maddox because he completely forgot it happened the next morning.
Fast forward a couple weeks, Trazia realizes she doesn’t have housing for the summer semester she took classes for to get a jumpstart on her degree. But her older brother Camden comes to the rescue with letting her stay in one of the bedrooms in their soccer house. There is just one rule amongst the friends, no dating or touching his sister. Trazia and Maddox are doing the best they can to hold onto their attraction for the other without crossing boundaries.
All seems well and dandy until Trazia finds out she’s pregnant and the dad doesn’t know, because he doesn’t even remember their hookup. Will Trazia let the baby daffy know? Or will she hid it forever and save herself and her baby the heartache of being walked out on later on down the road?
📚 College Soccer Romance 📚 Accidental Pregnancy 📚 One Night Stand 📚 Forced Proximity 📚 Brothers Best Friend 📚 3rd Book in Series 📚 Dual POV
This was my first Lexi Bissen book and first soccer romance. And ooooo did I find a new love. This follows the 3rd book in the Braxton U Series, & I love a good surprise baby x brother’s best friend trope! I can’t wait to read more of Lexi’s work!!
Arc reader review! This is the first book of the Braxton University series that I’ve read and can honestly say I couldn’t put this book down, so will defo read the other books in this series! This was such an enjoyable read with the fun and lovable characters and the story between the main characters Trazia and Maddox and how their relationship developed is just beautiful! Loved the tropes in the story, Brothers best friend, surprise pregnancy and more! Couldn’t get enough! This book was so well written and kept me engrossed the whole way through! Ending was perfect! Can’t wait to read more ❤️
Once again Lexi Bissen has written a great book in the series "Braxton U". This third book in this series ia about Trazia and Maddox. Trazia is "off limits" as she is Camden's sister. Camden livez in a house with five other soccer studens, including Maddox. Trizia and Maddox have a crush on eachother, and it already started when Camden started at the University. We get the story of #brother's best friend #forbidden love #togetherness #misunderstandings #hope #friendship for life. This third book can be read as a stand-alone book, but I'll recommend to read the first two first, as you get a bit of the background for this story. I can only recommend this series and don't wait to start reading about the life at the University. Thanks to Lexi Bissen for once again writing a pafe-turner of a book ❤
3.5 rounded up to 4. I received this as an ARC and loved it! Such a cute, feel good read! This was my first Lexi Bissen read but I already have the other two books in the series downloaded onto my kindle! It was very fast paced and easy to read. It felt similar to the Off Campus series by Elle Kennedy which I absolutely adore! 10/10 recommend!
This series has always pulled at my heart strings with the characters and the found family they have made with one another. I was excited to read Trazia and Maddox’s story. One wild night turns into way more than either of them could think. Only Maddox doesn’t seem to remember it at all, which crushes her. Trazia and him not only kind of skirt around there feelings for one another, but since they are now roommates it almost seems harder. Throw in that he’s her brother’s best friend too, and he’s deemed her off limits? Things are bound to get messy. Especially, since she can only hold onto her secret for so long. It was an emotional read about all they go through and what you see them grow through too.
This started out with a lot of promise, but somewhere along the way, the writing and the characters just became stilted and awkward. At near 50% the two main characters still couldn't have a meaningful conversation and were distracted by half truths and misconceptions..and it got old, real fast. I understand that these characters are in college, so they're younger and, of course, won't be expert communicators, but a little effort would be nice. This is just disheartening since I loved the first book so much. Maybe I'll try again when I'm in a different headspace, but for now this is where I'm at.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **
While I was super excited to read this book, I found that I just did not enjoy it as much as the previous 2 in the series. The tropes hit some of my favorites. Surprise pregnancy, brother’s best friend, and ONS. Sadly, I can't say that I particularly enjoyed the book.
While the book takes place in college, it almost felt like the characters were in high school. I know that the FMC just graduated high school and is young, but I felt like the relationship reminds me of a literal high school "couple." Like IRL HS couples, where it is all surface level and shallowness.
There was also no build-up to the relationship once the MMC found out about the baby. It went from zero to one hundred really quickly. Maybe if there were more forbidden moments and more interactions with just the MCs, then I wouldn't have found it so stifling. Idk, the relationship felt lacking overall.
Another one of my big issues with the book is that there weren't any realistic expectations that come with having a baby. You have two college students who have low paying jobs and expect them to live with their newborn baby in a shared college house? The MMC's family comes from money, but how does that correlate to the future for the small family? Where's the financial security? Who's paying for everything???
Realistically, how is a freshman in college going to work at a daycare, go to school full-time, and take care of newborn? What about studying for the full-time school schedule? Also, how is a barely turned senior supposed to maintain a busy soccer schedule along with school, studying, and helping take of their baby?? It's simply not realistic without the burdens of life also being something to worry about, i.e., my last paragraph...
While I may not have enjoyed the book as much, that may not be the case for others. I am looking forward to the other books in the series, so I'm hoping that the issues I had with this book won't carry forward with the remainder in the series. I liked the first two books in the series, and the other books have soooo much crazy potential for storylines!
After having read The Act of Trusting and The Hurt of Letting Go I've been looking forward to more from this series and author! Every teaser for this book had me wanting to read it even more. I picked up this third installment and back to Braxton U I went! I enjoyed this story so much!
Trazia and Maddox's journey drew me in so quickly! These two have been in each other's lives for some time as Maddox is best friends with Trazia's brother. The thing is though, Trazia and Maddox really like each other. A night shakes things up. As circumstances leave Trazia needing somewhere to stay she becomes roommates with Maddox. Can these two be around one another and ignore their feelings? Or will their new living situation lead to so much more for them?
Both Trazia and Maddox had my attention and heart invested. I've been so curious about these two and was so glad that I got to dig deeper with them. I really enjoyed the way Maddox and Trazia were brought closer together as roommates. I didn't know how they'd tackle certain things, especially when it came to living together and the feelings they had for one another which got me even more into their story.
Both Trazia and Maddox showed a lot of realness throughout. The chemistry that these two shared was so good! I went through many emotions with Trazia and Maddox while reading which I loved!
I adored the whole brother's best friend aspect of it all! Also, I was glad to be back in the Braxton U world and being reunited with characters!
With A Memory That Once Was, Ms.Bissen has created such a good brother's best friend read that brought heart and so many emotions! I very much enjoyed being back in this series with the Braxton U crew! I can't wait to read what this author brings our way next!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from The Next Step PR / the author*
