Lyons Club #1

Until I Claim You

Rate this book
Very few people can say they almost hooked up with their boss.
Hardly anyone can say he was also their ex’s dad…

Edwin Lyon is about twenty years older, several inches taller, and significantly richer.
But that last part is no surprise.
He is the CEO of the Lyons Club, after all, and I am so deep in debt that I couldn’t see the surface if I tried.
The kicker?
He has no idea his new nightclub manager—yours truly—used to date his son.
I know exactly who he is, but that still doesn’t stop me from kissing him. From giving in to those dark eyes.
From letting him dominate me in more ways than I ever thought imaginable.
I expect all hell to break loose when he finds out. I almost anticipate it.
But Edwin is not a vengeful man. He is a possessive one.
And he will do anything it takes if it means he gets to keep me…

Until I Claim You is an Age Gap, Ex's Dad romance that you’ll fall head over heels for .It's a standalone and the first book in the Lyons Club Series. No Cheating, No Cliffhanger, Happily Ever After guaranteed! Ideal for fans of Sara Cate.

This was a dnf for me. And I'm sorry but I'm just gonna say it... This was the generic, store brand version of the book Praise. I know tropes overlap but this was so, so similar I couldn't finish it because I felt like I'd already read this story, just better.

This is the first book that I saw a man on the cover and was like "Yes, I must read this". I usually hate seeing actual people on the covers of books. Not that I read physical media or in places where people can see me but it just isn't my thing. Give me a cute artsy (like a Hazelwood) cover or something fucking epic that doesn't let me know what the book is about at all (Den of Vipers).

Plot: 3/5
Spice: 5/5 (Kinks! It didn't dive deep into the world of BDSM but damn)

The good..
I liked the story, got real into it. I have several highlights and notes where I express my hate for The Ex-boyfriend. There are plenty of moments where it feels like he's a super dick. Absolute mega bag of dicks. I was fully into us hating the asshole ex-boyfriend and bonding a little with the FMC. That was great. Then the chemistry with the MMC was also great. There was a lot of build up, lots of teasing. The chase was fun, and the heat was intense. The eventual sex scenes were great. It wasn't a crazy amount, which I like. I feel like sometimes the books I read have it in their contact to end the chapter with sex.

What about those smutty scenes..
They were so hot. Even the build up scenes were great. The chemistry with the FMC and the MMC were great and lovely and honestly, I'd have liked maybe one or two more scenes. Though.. those we got were fucking lovely.

So why isn't it 5 stars.. (spoilers ahoy)

in the end.. It was good. I enjoyed it. It's not a favorite, and I probably wouldn't read it again. But it didn't piss me off like some of the books I've read that had problems. I was able to finish it even with the things towards the end pulling me out.

Decent

The story was good I did like Edwin I felt bad for him with his son. However I didn't care for Sonia.. shes supposed to be 29 almost 30.. but she read like 19 going on 20.. just immature and always running away and not communicating. I would read praise by Sara cate. This is pretty much the same story

I enjoyed this book. It’s an age gap, ex-boyfriend’s dad story with some “Good Girl”s thrown in. I really felt Edwin’s pain when it came to his relationships with his children. I found myself wanting to scream at Sonia, but she finally came around.

Meh. Wasn’t my favorite. Everything was SO. SLOW. They didn’t really even get together until about half way through the book, Sonia was stupid with some of her choices and seriously annoyed me, and there wasn’t even that much steam or spicy scenes! I mean, he owns a SEX club, for heaven’s sake. I chose this book for the spice and age gap trope, but wasn’t really satisfied. On the other hand, Edwin was SUCH a sweetie and just wanted to love and be loved and I wanted to cuddle him 🥰.

Received as an ARC in return for my honest review.

❤️ Age gap
❤️ All of the kinks - Dom/Sub dynamic, impact play, light bondage and a hint of breeding

❤️ Ex-boyfriends Dad

This was my introduction to the world of Callie Stevens and I really enjoyed her writing style. I was drawn into this story straight off the bat and couldn’t wait to see where it went.

Granted it was slightly predictable at times but I always find that ex-boyfriend’s Dad books usually are so no complaints from me there.

Overall I found this to be a really good quick read that hit the spot and lived up to the promises of its tropes. I can’t wait to see what else is to come from Callie.

When the Past Becomes the Present

No two families are alike in their relationships and interactions, but each family is bound by shared experiences, genetics, and at times, professions, and passions. And, for the Lyons family of New York City, the patriarch of the current generation, Edwin Lyons, a handsome 49-year-old tall dark and handsome male, has created a unique family resulting from his rather unconventional view of marital relationships. While the father of 3 children, he never married any of the 3 women who gave birth to his now-adult children. And, while he retained a friendly relationship with his children’s mothers, he has, like all parents, even those in more traditional family structures, had challenges in his relationships with his children Nate, Abigail and Jack.

As a man who inherited Lyon’s Club from his father, and who hopes to see his children take the helm of the generational business, Edwin has learned the price of pushing too hard for a child to enter a family business. His eldest son, Nate, chose to put a continent between himself and his father in NYC, seeking to enjoy the waves of California, living the life of a surfer, rather than taking on a role in the family’s generational business.

But, Edwin has been lucky. Despite his eldest child’s flight, his other children, Abigail and Jack, while not yet fully emersed in the daily operations of the club, have shown interest in the decades old establishment which provided a lifestyle with a variety of pleasures and comforts that only money can afford. And so, with a stable, well-established staff and recent new hires, Lyon’s Club continues to prosper, serving with indulgence, the tastes of New York’s wealthiest citizens.

One of the generational club’s most recent hires is an intelligent and experienced professional, Sonia Hill, a 29-year-old beauty from California. Seeking a new setting following the traumatic death of her addicted dad, unfortunately Sonia is still expected to address dad’s financial debts which have now become her responsibility accrued during her dad’s last years and bad choices.

And now, with the new job in a new location and a substantial salary increase to help her better manage the debt of her dearly loved but sadly addicted dad’s debt. Now, in a new setting—NYC—a continent from her California roots, she has hope for her future. What Sonia never expected was to walk into the perfect job with friendly, supportive co-workers—but owned by her ex’s dad—Edwin Lyons. It seems that the personal connections of her past have also followed her into her new beginning.

Callie Stevens shares with her readers an engaging tale of past decisions not only following an individual into the present, but also possibly reshaping the individual’s new beginnings and possible future. I enjoyed the romance and look forward to future encounters with the Lyons family.

I received a review copy of the novel but enjoyed it so much that I bought a copy for my personal “read again” collection.

"I will do everything with this chance. To have you, Sonia. To be with you."

My. Oh myy. This is a very insta, hott, I need to be close to you, touch you, type of connection happening at a private club one night in New York. Think Eyes Wide Shut (without the Kubrick ambiguity) and a masquerade party for the elite few. On this yearly event, Sonia Hill, the newly hired operations manager, has arrived to start a new chapter in her life. She broke up with her boyfriend Nate and needs to start banking to pay off debts that her Father has left behind after his passing. Her face mask tonight is a swan. Then she takes notice of a man watching her at the bar. A very very attractive man with eyes as dark as sin and when he speaks to her, his voice surrounds her like velvet. His mask is the phoenix. She feels drawn, curious, and feverish with his presence. She flirts. She wants. Sonia needs... more. To explore this stranger.

The much older Edwin Lyons is just as enamored with the mysterious woman. He can have his pick of anyone there, and he most certainly has before, but this one feels different tonight. He's the boss, has three adult children, one which he's been estranged from for 3yrs, but tonight, he has his focus on the swan. His swan. He needs to know who she is. Edwin will do anything to have her tonight, tomorrow, and as far as she will allow him to go.

This was a really good story. It held my attention as I navigated this intense need festering between the main couple. Yes, Edwin is older by 20yrs, he runs a place where people can indulge in their sexual fantasies without judgement, and he happens to be the father of Sonia's ex-boyfriend. A mess for sure! Very taboo. But despite all the mistakes he's made, the man is trying to be a better Dad, a better man, to know there's more to life than work and money. And he is falling for Sonia. HARD. There's nothing he won't do for her. Nothing. He wants to take care of her. And Sonia, she knew who he was eventually, but she didn't know how to tell him that she's his son's ex-girlfriend. How can she?! She wants him soo badly. It's wrong. But she desires him more each day. There's plenty of steamy naughty scenes to read.💋🔥💋🔥 BDSM. I personally don't care very much for that element, but the emotional drive and pull was what worked for me here. There's suspense, backstabbing, deceit, full circle moments, robbery, friendship, family issues; but at its center, a love story. My question is why do these wealthy people show up at this event with their family members? This could lead to some serious therapy later. You know what I mean.🙉😝 And that book cover!!🥵🥵 Holy cow!!! Recommend. Enjoy!!!♥️♥️

😈Thank you for an early book via Booksprout. This is my honest critique on the story I read.😈

Oh my goodness gracious, holy hotness - Until I Claim You is an extremely steamy read. This is the sixteenth book I have read by Callie Stevens and I have loved all of them with exception to one that was just okay to me. As much as I loved the others this one is now my favorite book that Callie has written. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. I know when I pick up one of her books she is going to deliver a quality read that is going get my attention and keep it throughout the entirety of the book. This is the first book in the Lyons Club Series and if the rest of the books are as good as Until I Claim You then this is going to be a smashingly successful series. I hope Callie does not keep us waiting too long for the second book.

Until I Claim You had an original plot that was fun, exciting, tense, steamy and chalked full of chemistry making for an entertaining read. Callie breathed life into some wonderful characters whom all helped make this such a good book. Edwin and Sonia were absolutely perfect for one another and shared a chemistry that was off the charts. I knew once they came together it was going to be explosive. Callie made it impossible not to love Edwin and Sonia which made it easy for me to feel a connection with both of them. I sure can't wait to meet the next couple in the Lyons Club Series.

Sonia has just fled California for New York leaving behind her ex-boyfriend Nate and a life she would rather forget. Sonia is hoping this will be the fresh start that she needs to finally find true happiness. Sonia is the new operations manager for the Lyons Club. When Edwin and Sonia are formally introduced for the first time these two are shocked to discover they already met the night before at the masquerade party. He was just the Phoenix and she was the Swan with no idea who the other was with their masks in place. The chemistry between these two was combustible at the masquerade ensuring it will be a challenge for them to keep their hands to themselves. Edwin is a sworn bachelor and lothario making it difficult to believe he truly has feelings for his Swan. Sonia has deep feelings for Edwin that she has never felt before, but is hiding the fact that his son Nate is her ex-boyfriend. Their journey to finding true love is one riddled with obstacles making it difficult to see a happily ever after and the end of the road.

Tropes: Billionaire, Ex-boyfriend’s Dad, Age Gap, Forced Proximity, Workplace Romance

I really wanted to enjoy this book, but unfortunately, it just didn’t land for me. I found myself skimming through sections that should’ve felt exciting, but instead fell flat.

The story follows Edwin and Sonia. Edwin is in his late 40s — successful, powerful, and finally realizing that life might be about more than his business and legacy. He owns an elite smex club, while Sonia is a twenty-something looking for a fresh start in New York. She attends a masquerade party at Edwin’s club, not just for fun, but because she’s about to start working there as the new operational manager.

Here’s the twist: Sonia already knows who Edwin is — he’s her ex-boyfriend’s dad. Edwin, on the other hand, has no idea who she is, thanks to his distant relationship with his son. When they meet at the masquerade, sparks fly instantly. Once Sonia starts her new job, the tension only grows as they both try to resist what’s clearly inevitable.

While the setup had so much potential — secret identities, forbidden attraction, and family tension — the execution didn’t quite deliver. The storyline felt underdeveloped, and the pacing dragged in places where it needed heat or emotional punch. The “secret” aspect fizzled out instead of adding suspense.

Character-wise, Edwin wasn’t the alpha male I expected. For a man of his status and experience, he came off too soft and unsure of himself. Sonia, meanwhile, felt a little bland and lacked the spark that could’ve made their dynamic more compelling.

I do think the author had a great premise — the age gap, the forbidden romance, and the workplace tension all could’ve made for a dramatic, steamy read — but the story just didn’t have the emotional depth or excitement I was hoping for.
In short, this book had potential, but it just wasn’t for me.

Arc Review 😊 Original on Booksprout)

“I’m Edwin Lyons " - Lyons Club/Lyons Pride
Yearly masquerade night, Hans Christian Anderson fairytale theme night- Phoenix : Swan, elegant masks to hide one's identity or did it? A night of mystique. Lyons Club, Phoenix meets Swan…hmm- hmm, but that's it or is it?

Sonia Hill, newly appointed Operations Manager to Lyons Club, where the unspeakable happens. BDSM lifestyle, for the exclusive members only.

Moving along, Edwin, has father/son issues. Nate, his eldest has made it clear he is a firm NO on taking the reins from his father’s club, something that was enforced to Edward at a young age. Nate sees his father as a cruel man, and he has portrayed his feelings to his now ex-girlfriend Sonia.
? - what did Nate do to Sonia that effected her family, especially her Dad, which has now put her in financial difficulties.

Back to Edwin, indecisive, wanting/seeking/yearning but for whom Sonia or Nate?
Note whom he has lost for 3 yrs or Sonia who he has just met.

Overall, so much was put into the pages. Edwin though sophisticated in age, still acted as though he was a young man. Almost. Age does have a knack of catching with you. I feel the choice of cover aged him some🫢.
Back to the storyline, 3 children, 3 different mothers. Eldest Nate, is who he lost contact with for 3 yrs due to his expectations. Bring forth the ex-girlfriend of said son, unexpected attraction, wanting, desiring, lusting, BDSM play, hurtfulness, pride and ??? revenge, accident leading back to full circle of forgiveness and love. Age gap - yes. But the storyline was more than just the age difference. Each page was full of questions. The what ifs, who, why, what vendetta, frustration, what is hidden that needs to be solved.
There was softness and determination. A juicy and lustful read.

This is a quick read. I started it last night and just finished it. I enjoyed the read but to be honest it is a lot like Praise by Sara Cate. And this one is not as well written. The story itself was good. I like the last bit of it more than the beginning part.

Sonia just broke up with her Boyfriend, Nate. Moved across the country to New York to get away from everything and to start working at the Lyons Club. Which is also the company Nate's dad owns and runs. The same dad that Nate pretty much hates and wants nothing to do with. Sonia knows that Nate's dad is Edwin and the CEO. But she doesn't know who he is. She gets invited to a masquerade party at her new work place as a guest to see who things work and meets sexy as sin man in a Phoenix mask. She doesn't know who he is just that she is drawn to him and attracted to him. Even her body knows. She picked out a swan mask for the party and Phoenix sees Swan from across the room and feels that same pull. They finally meet up have a dance together and then later meets up in a dark hallway. But when Phoenix ask her to remove her mask or tell him her name, she won't and so he doesn't go any further. Then the next day Sonia is meeting everyone and she gets introduced to Edwin, Nate's dad and her boss who also happens to be Phoenix from last night. And Edwin recognizes her too. The pull and attraction is still there but they try to stay professional...but that doesn't last long.

I give this a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars. I would honestly say it's a little less than a 3 star. Maybe like a 2.85 stars. But close enough to a 3 that I will round it up. I will say if you like a good age gap, BDSM, ex's dad trope, you will more than likely enjoy this.

This story follows Edwin Lyons (49) and Sonia Hill (29) as they experience a tumultuous relationship. Edwin (Ed) is the owner of the Lyon’s Club, a pleasures of the body nightclub. Ed is intensely lonely because he has never engaged in a meaningful relationship. He considers his emotional unavailability to be a shortcoming now that he is about to turn 50. He has been estranged from his oldest son Nate for three years and that failure is weighing heavily on him. He is trying to make amends with all of his adult children.

Sonia moved to New York to take a job as a nightclub manager of the Lyon’s Club, and to get away from her ex-boyfriend Nate, who happens to be Edwin’s son. Her first night happens to be the night of the annual masquerade party. Sonia wears a swan mask and Edwin wears a phoenix. They are instantly attracted to each other, even if they do not know that he is the owner of the club and she the new employee. They are both surprised the next morning when Sonia starts her first day in the office. Their chemistry crackles off the page with lots of smexy times ahead. There are lots of twists and a couple of near-death experiences that pull this story together.

Callie Stevens has created a powerful love story that really puts you right there in the moment and you feel yourself getting pulled in deeper with the characters and the story. This book has such depth that it will evoke strong feelings and reactions. It was a great read and I highly recommend it.

This is the 1st story in the Lyons Club Series. In this series you become part of the wealthy world of a private club, its owner, family, friends and trusted employee. When Sonia leaves CA and her ex-boyfriend for a fresh start she gets a job at The Lyons Club knowing the owner, Edwin is her ex’s father. The night before she starts Sonia is invited to the annual masquerade party, meets a man wearing a Phoenix mask and their attraction is full of sexual tension putting them in a situation where they are ready to explode together before an unexpected interruption takes him away and Sonia runs. Yes, the man is Edwin and he’s disappointed but moves on until the next day his Swan is the new operations manager and they both realize who each are trying to keep it hidden. These two start a relationship and explore what the club offers and they both come alive while working together. Sonia can’t tell Edwin about her past and after Edwin does what he can by confronting his son about his feelings only for it all to go sideways for all them. Taking the journey for forgiveness, recovery, making decisions right for themselves and others lead them down a hard fought chance at life and love! There are several situations going on in this story with Father and son estranged, older/younger love story, Dom/Sub along with a couple more, be ready for a wonderful start to this series. this was fine. but in all honesty, i found the best parts of the book to be nate’s character development. everything else was just kinda…fine.

i didn’t super dislike any of these characters, but i also didn’t love them either. sonia had about seventeen chances to explain herself and literally no good enough reason not to, so waiting for that shoe to drop was actually pretty boring.

the sex scenes were fine, since this book is clearly banking on the smut factor, but there just wasn’t enough buildup or tension to really make it memorable.

and there’s just not enough to this book to really show these two people as falling in love. they care for one another, but it was kind of this insta-lust thing that just kept growing, but we really didn’t get to see these characters truly get to know one another. they got glimpses into each other’s pasts, with sonia and her dad and edwin with his children, but we didn’t really get to see any depth to their personalities outside work and their histories.

and my last complaint is the fact that having two different characters suffer life-threatening accidents/injuries and both have “tell the people you love that you love them” epiphanies in the same book?? it just feels a little heavy handed. like…we just saw this happen, why are we seeing it again? it’s the same narrative, just tweaked a little bit. so i wish that there were different experiences/catalysts described to explain the changes in nate/sonia’s behavior in the end.

Until I Claim You is a super-steamy, instalove, OTT, age-gap, kinky BDSM, taboo, girl gets her boss romance. Sonia is a 29 year old Beauty who takes a job in NY as the manager of the exclusive sex club, the Lyons Court. Edwin Lyons is the sexy, silver fox billionaire owner of the club. He is also the father of Nate, Sonia's ex. But he and his father have been estranged, and he dated Sonia when they still lived in CA, so Edwin does not know the same. Edwin doesn't know she was hired and sees her as a guest at one of the club's masquerade parties when she is wearing a swan mask. It is lust at first sight, but she ends up running, knowing who he is. He never expects to see her as an employee at his club the next day... OMG... the chemistry between these two was insane!!!!! Holy hotness 🥵🔥🔥. Edwin is a Dom who teaches Sonia about the club and kinks and realizes she is his soulmate. What will happen when he finds out who she is? And when Nate returns, there is even more drama. This book had it all.... love, drama, mystery, steam, and lots of kink. It read very fast and was different from Callie's other books. I love this hot and steamy wild ride of a read that finally ended in a great HEA.

Edwin Lyons, owns a BDSM club. But his personal life is not up to par. His son quit a few years ago and left the state. He's tried to reach him but he gets no answer to his calls. The masquerade ball is tonight and it is based on Hans Christian Anderson fairy tales. He's a Phoenix. Then he does a beautiful swan. Sonia is there because she will be working there as the new operations manager. She sees the Phoenix and if drawn to him. She's just broken up with her boyfriend and he followed her to NY. She finally tells him to never call her again. When they meet at her first day of work. They recognize each other but nothing. He feels as of she's his soulmate. She can't believe it's her ex's dad!! The only problem is that they keep gravitating toward each other. Sonia is having problems because she is afraid to tell Edwin his son is here ex. Edwin is trying to rebuild done type of relationship with his son. Everything is coming to a head. What will happen when Edwin , Sonia and Nate discover what's been going on?
A fascinating story that will enthrall the reader.

Sonia is running away from something in her life and desperate to make a success with her new start. However, when she attends the masked event at her new job she is captivated by a tall, dark stranger. Unfortunately, the next day, said stranger turns out to be her new boss and her ex's father... so a complete no go.

Edwin has spent his life hooking up with beautiful women but never making a connection, even with the three that he had children with. Feeling the emptiness in his life he intends only to show his face at the masked event but is immediately drawn to a stunning stranger. When he discovers that she's his new employee he has every intention of stearing clear. But the heart wants what the heart wants and he just can't help himself.

Just when they finally give in to their attraction things implode.

Always a treat to read a story by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much so that I read it in one go.

The downside with audiobooks is that the voice actors can make or break the book. This was one of those cases where the voice actors broke it for me. Seeing the cover, reading the blurb, I tend to form a picture in my head of the characters and how they would sound. When listening to the audiobook and they are nothing compared to what you envisioned it's really difficult to get into the story.

Sonia, for me, was almost like a whiney teenager supposed to be almost 30. The voice didn't match up but then her actions were just too immature. Really spoiled it for me.

Edwin, again the voice didn't do it for me. When reading an age-gap, silver fox, daddy Dom I expect someone with a deep rumbling voice that just makes you wet the minute they open their mouth. Here it felt like someone who was just wanting to say the right things but actions didn't really align.

And then the story overall: Praise was 100 times better and it felt like this was a knock off version of that. Trying to appeal to a wider audience by being a bit too decent.

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. This was not a bad read but it just felt like something was missing and I can't figure out what exactly. It may have been because the book was trying to throw in so/too many tropes together- age gap, ex's dad, employer-employee, BDSM, mention of addiction issues (but not of the main characters), parent-child enstrangement, death of a parent, threat/danger to the FMC, that it just became too much. However the flow and pacing was fine, and the chemistry between Edwin and Sonia was hot with a sweet HEA in the end. All the other drama between Edwin and his son Nate, and Nate with Sonia is also nicely wrapped up... not exactly the most believable but it does make for a happy ending for everyone.

Sonia has come to New York to put some distance between her and her ex. However, she never counted on being attracted to Edwin. Edwin meets Sonia at a masked event at his club and is drawn to her. They get close to being with each other and get interrupted. The next day they meet without masks on and see who they really are. Sonia tries to stay professional towards him, but he makes it difficult. Its not long before things heat up between them. Yet there's just one problem that could end everything. Edwin is her ex's dad. Will things end between them when his son shows back up? Can they find a way to be together?

This is a great story that will hook you in the first chapter. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Sonia and Edwin

Edwin is such an old name for a modern, twenty I first century hero, but the name totally fits his character. I do believe that people can change. They can have an epiphany moment that causes them to change... They can come to a realization in a moment of clarity that they want something different out there f life and they move towards making any and all changes necessary. The most prominent type of change happens when a person accepts Christ as their Savior. I know it's strange to bring up salvation while writing about a book like this, but the reality is that this story has Redemption all over it. Whether they see Christ in their changes or not, growing and becoming a better person mirrors the faith walk of Believers. Know and Edwin exemplify live in a way that makes others long for what they have.

This book should have been a messy, delicious, age-gap, forbidden boss romance with a side of “oops, that’s my ex’s dad”… but instead, it mostly gave me the ick.

The setup had potential—masquerade mystery, off-limits attraction, complicated family dynamics—but the execution was a letdown. The dialogue felt cringey and forced, the tension fizzled fast, and the characters didn’t do much to win me over. Sonia’s decisions made little sense, and Edwin, while hot on paper, never quite lived up to the alpha energy this kind of trope demands. Instead of sizzling taboo tension, we got predictable drama and awkward interactions.

Honestly, this felt like a wasted premise. It could’ve been so spicy, so emotionally charged, but instead it was just… mid. Definitely not the fun, forbidden ride I was hoping for.

An entertaining, tantalising step into the insanely rich world of private clubs where money can pretty much buy you anything. Sonia comes to the club as the new operations manager and meets the owner Edwin, the night before at a masquerade party where their sexual chemistry was smiling hot! She realises who he is as soon as she is introduced the next day but pretends she has never met him!
The book brings us so many emotions, very steamy scenes, some wild kinky scenes in the Dom/Sub, family drama, guilt, jealousy, fear, heartbreak and love.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next in the series.

I love age gap and even though this story flowed well, it was too standard and predictable. The way Edwin and Sonia meet and feel the instant connection is beautiful. I needed him to remember that meeting more and really build on it but he got so caught up in comparing her age to his kid's that it was grating on my nerves. I also needed him to be more alpha. I enjoyed the relationships with the staff that Sonia was building since she was obviously good at her job but I often felt like she didn't deserve to stay there with her secret. Edwin always caved for her. Not enough grovel and chasing from either side. Overall, it was a good story though and worth a read for the age gap readers out there.

Wow, what a book that overflowing with steam and drama. Sonia and Edwin will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster. She takes a job as his nightclub manager, and her first event is the annual masquerade ball. There's an immediate attraction between the two. She knows he's the father of her ex, but he doesn't have a clue. The story is a great read that's hard to put down. Twists and angst with no shortage of emotions. Loan sharks, robbery, assault, addiction, families divided, families reunited. After much drama, a family is healed and love surrounds. A sweet HEA and no cliffhanger. Age-gap at its best. I read a free arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

This book is absolutely fantastic and will definitely have you hooked from the beginning until the end and the storyline flows throughout the book. Sonia gets hired on at the Lyons pride after leaving her ex boyfriend and California, but when she is invited to the masquerade party she meets a man who makes her feel something but when she finds out it's her exs dad can she stay away from him? Edwin meets someone who catches his attention but when he finds out she works for him will he keep his distance? This book was absolutely fantastic and will definitely have you so engrossed and loving these characters. I throughly enjoyed this story and holy smokes it's sex scenes were so hot!!!.

Edwin & Sonia
I really liked the club setting of this new series, the steam level has ramped up already and I'm sure that will continue as the series progresses.
I commend the emotional side of Edwin that was written but somehow it didn't quite land for me and it felt too different to his dom personality in the rest. I think one or two scenes would have been a good balance but the sofa scene especially felt too maternal.
Sonia was ok, a little bratty but open to exploring what cane across as possibly a switch or bratty side to herself. She seemed younger than 29 at points, the way she left CA for starters.
I'm intrigued to see who has books coming and more time spent in The Underground.
