Staying safe means more time under Rhyan's protection. But the closer they become, the more their desire ignites, and the harder it becomes to resist temptation. Secrets can only remain hidden for so long.

As new threats arrive at the Bamarian border, Lyr delves deeper into solving the mystery of her power. But revealing these secrets and surviving the Emperor's test may cost Lyr more than she can bargain for.

And most dangerous of as passion burns, oaths will be broken.

This series is just getting better and better! Can't believe it's taken me years to pick these up (bonus able to binge read them!)

I didn't see the twists coming which I do love, Rhyan is fast becoming a favorite book boyfriend!

This series just gets better and better! I really enjoyed book one, but book two is where everything just kicked off!

I'm late to the party with this series, but now that I've started I do not want to stop! I've been listening to the audiobooks, and at some points I've actually been wanting to pick up the books so I can read it even faster because it is just that good! The audio is brilliant, however, and if you like audiobooks this is a great one to pick up.

The TENSION that is building between Lyr and Rhyan during this book is absolutely on fire, and I would love nothing more than for the pair of them to run off into the woods and leave the rest of the realm to burn, because they deserve all the happiness and the rest of the world can get in the sea.

We finally get some of the big reveals that both books have been leading up to, but it leaves so much open for the next books to tackle because those reveals throw everything up in the air and I have no idea how Lyr is going to handle everything that happens towards the end!

1 thing I love about this series that's unrelated to the story is the prologue included with each book that recaps the previous book. When you read a lot and it's been potentially a year or more since reading the last book it can be very difficult to remember what happened, who's who and where abouts in the story you are. Especially if you read a lot of books with similar beats.
This is a very slow burn series, both in the overarching plot, political machinations and ofcourse the romance but I don't personally mind as the time is spent well. I don't like it when books are slow because they space out the beats but just tread water in between, or when everything that's going to happen is already obvious from the beginning and I'm just waiting (& waiting) for the characters to catch up. But I dont feel that with this series, here the story continually develops as details, revelations, alliances, feelings and betrayals slowly unfold, it's a continuous sprinkle rather than nothing-nothing-DUMP-nothing-nothing-DUMP

4⭐️

The second book in the Drowned Empire series and I didn’t think I could love this series anymore. I am fully invested in the story and the characters and excited to see where the story goes.

This book wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows (not that the first was either really) but I felt there was a lot of things going wrong, maybe slightly over doing it. Although I understand that sometimes our heroine needs to be brought down a few pegs before getting their victory.

I was pleased with the ‘twist’ at the end despite seeing it a mile away, mainly because side it stroked my ego for guessing another correctly.

Screaming, crying, throwing up! Book two threw me right back into my favorite characters stories with so much more at stake. Things are getting tense with Rhyan and Lyr I am so hooked. The slow burn is so real I cannot deal! If you love books that are adventurous but with that little kick fit of giggles when your favorite characters are FINALLY getting somewhere! UGH I LOVE IT SO MUCH! 1000/10

I feel like things went wrong one times too many, it was just a little too bleak with nothing happy really carrying the series. Like all good things were wrong and stopped and prevented and things just kept going from bad to worse so it didn't fully capture me. And while I like darkish, maybe just to a certain extent- I'm not one for unnecessary sexual violence (which it always is).

I loved this book. May be my favorite of the year so far. I really resonated with the characters and it was so easy to get into.
