Rate this book
Garrett Johnson is a sexy cowboy from South Dakota, who curbs any woman’s need for commitment. His relationships are all about the fun; sex, drinking, and companionship. If she wants more from him, the game is over and he moves on. It has been this way since he left his hometown of Hot Springs after high school graduation.

Garrett is looking for something, anything that might take away the monotonous feeling of traveling down the same dead end path. An argument over the future of his family’s ranch sends him out into the middle of a snowstorm only to be rescued by a dark-haired, golden eyed siren. A captivating woman who could change the game altogether!

Rayne Randall left South Dakota fifteen years earlier in anger and grief at the tragic loss of her mother. She has only now returned after the death of her estranged father. There is more pain and destruction in this place than any other. She has been cursed to live each day with the understanding that her father killed her mother.

Rayne wants nothing to do with her family’s ranch. There are no ties here worth remembering! So why did she have to meet a sinfully handsome cowboy who would inspire her to dig for the truth? Assuming the job as her foreman and her friend, Garrett Johnson just might be the blessing Rayne never thought would come.

A Nebraska native, A.C. Wilson now lives in historic Abilene, Kansas with her husband and two boys. Always an avid reader, A.C. first fell in love with historical romances both Regency and Western. The world was a wide open place where adventures could happen even between the pages of a book. Deciding to give the characters in her head some room to breathe, A.C. started typing and hasn't looked back.

The Black Hills series books are contemporary western romances set in the iconic beauty of the Black Hills of South Dakota. The Johnson family holds true to their values of love, duty, family, and loyalty.

Broken Country novels featuring Levi and Taryn begin with Discovering Taryn. It is a "clean" young adult romance spinoff from the Black Hills Series. The family values continue as a young woman tries to find her way in life and love and a young man learns the meaning of patience and perserverence.

At time of writing this review (21st August 2014) Amazon have this book for sale at 99c USD, and I would say go grab it quick!!!!!

This is book 2 in the series and Ms Wilson has continued to weave her magic and she has got me hooked on her Hot but charming Cowboys...

Garrett Johnson is a sexy cowboy from South Dakota, all he wants in a woman is fun; sex, drinking, and companionship. But mention the big 'C' word and he is out of there! YEP commitment is not his cup of tea (or coffee!)

After an argument with his dad he drives off into the middle of a snowstorm and ends up stuck in a ditch!!

Well luckily fate is smiling on him and he is rescued by a dark-haired, golden eyed mystery woman on a horse.

That mysterious lady is Rayne Randall, she left South Dakota fifteen years ago and has been full of anger and grief at the tragic loss of her mother, she can't forgive her father for what she saw as his part in her death. She's had to come back to settle her now deceased father's estate.

Rayne wants nothing to do with her family’s ranch, but its run down and in bad need of repair, and while they are snowed in with no power, they are stuck in the tiny run down Ranch house.

Garrett and Rayne have an intense attraction to one another... she doesn't want commitment either, and the passion almost melts the snow thats piled up high outside, they can't seem to get enough of each other so Garrett offers to stick around, and help get the place fixed up, then go their separate ways...

But Fate has other ideas for the pair, and suddenly Garrett his on a mission to change Rayne's mind.

Ms Wilson has a writing style that flows so well you are swept up with the story and time passes and suddenly you find its 2am and you just can't stop wanting to read!

The supporting characters are also great, we get to see more of Andy and Matt from the first book - Black Hills Angel, and we also get a taster for the next book story line - Nora who is Matt and Garrett's sister, and Ms Wilson sure had me wondering what the heck was bothering Nora, as she was finally happily married during book 1... I can't wait to read Book 3 either to see what is going on in Nora's life, and I wait impatiently for it.

** This book was given to me by the author for an honest review, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it***

**Note that the Black Hills Series is made up of standalone books and are not required to be read in any certain order, but I personally would say read the books in order**

**I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. **
Oh my God!!! AC Wilson has definitely done it again. I knew it was gonna be good just from the teasers but the raw emotion of Garette and the intensity of Rayne left me alot more than breathless. I thought Book 1 was great but I seriously love Book 2. The obstacles and issues that Rayne had to face were crazy. Just when I thought I knew what was gonna happen, AC changed the game and left me wanting more. I cried for Garette because I know what it feels like not to be what your parents want. In the end AC Wilson delievered a blockbuster book, in my opinion and I can't wait for Book 3.

I had high hopes for this book after reading Black Hills Angel, I was not let down. In fact I loved this book more.
Rayne and Garrett's story stole my heart from the start and had me in tears. I loved every word.
I could relate to the story on so many levels. The story was not only believable, but at some points I felt the story was writen for me.
Another MUST read!!!

"Plan for the worst and hope for the best."

Garrett has a good strong family, a booming business with more work than he can handle, and a dream home that leaves many envious. From the outside it is all good. On the inside though he is lost and looking for more. His bed is never empty but for some reason his life hasn't turned out the way he had hoped it would. As fulfilled as his life is, its still lacking big time and he's not sure what to do to fix it. When he sets out in the middle of one of the worst winter storms his savior will turn his world upside down and have him rethinking his whole life.

"You're a fucking time bomb, Rayne... I'm the one that's going to make you shatter into a million pieces and then you're going to want me to do it again."

Rayne Randall is broken, saying she's a hot mess is an understatement. Rayne has never had any one stay in her life, she is a ball of fear and nerves constantly. Having to return to her childhood home has left her an anxious mess. When she stumbles upon Garrett Johnson her world will never be the same, she to will be rethinking everything she has ever known.

This was a great book. I fell in love with Garret in Black Hills Angel and knew that there was a lot more to his story. Garrett is a good guy. You are not getting an Alpha male in this book, you are getting a gentleman, a real man, a cowboy. He is hard headed and was heartbroken but he realizes that he wants more and fights for what he wants. I loved Garrett and how much of a big heart he had. He knew almost immediately that he needed Rayne but he gave her the space that she needed. What a great guy. All though you don't need to Read Black Hills Angel, you do get more insight into all of the Johnson's lives. I love that Matt, Andie, Harper, and Nora as well as the Johnson Parents are included in this book. You really get the sense at what a strong family this truly is.

Rayne was relatable and I liked her from the get go. All though I thought at times she was cold, I know she was just trying to protect herself. Rayne brings Royal into the story and as much as I really wanted to hate Royal I couldn't. I'm wondering if Royal will have a story as well. I am sure hoping he does. (Wink Wink) I really fell in love with Rayne as well. She didn't need to be rescued, she needed to rescue herself and within time you will see Rayne grow.

I love how AC gives us real men, and real women in these books. She shows that you don't need an alpha male to step in and save the day that in time two people who truly love one another can save each other. She does an awesome job at keeping you interested and wanting more. I really love how all of the characters even from the previous book continue to have their story built. Good job to Ac. I cannot wait to read Black Hills Rebel.

Read these books they are a breathe of fresh air and will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Black Hills Blessing is the second installment in the Black Hills series. I've read the first, Black Hills Angel, and really enjoyed it. Many of the same characters appear in this book, but this particular novel focuses on Garrett's story. He's Matt Johnson's (one of the main characters in Black Hills Angel) older brother, and a partner in the business the two own in Rapid City, South Dakota.

I've never been there, but from these two books alone I've already developed a love for region of the United States that this story is set in. There's something about stories set in the west that really draws me in, and I can just imagine the scenery and how beautiful it is. As far as the novel itself - I was drawn in to Garret's story from the first chapter, and I as I was reading, I noticed that the relationship and romance between Rayne and Garrett takes a lot longer to really establish itself, even though it's obvious that there is chemistry between the two of them from the beginning of the book.

I think the slow pace at which it developed was actually a brilliant choice by the author, because each had fears and other matters which held them back and needed to be addressed. Both of them needed gentle nudges of encouragement from other characters, and the dialogue in this aspect was something that I loved, especially from Travis, Garrett's father. He's probably one of my favorite secondary characters in the series, always knowing exactly what to say when it comes to observations and words of advice.

I really enjoyed this book, and I recommend it to anyone who likes contemporary romance with a western setting. My rating is 5/5 platypires.

I really enjoyed this story. It is the second book in the Black Hills series. In the first book, Matt Johnson met his wife, Andy and her daughter, Harper. They had an effort in getting things together and discovering their love.

This story takes place one year later. Garrett Johnson has had a disagreement with his dad, and gone off in his truck in a snowstorm. Truck dies, cell phone is dead, he's not sure what to do. There comes a knock on his window. Someone is there on horseback to rescue him. His rescuer takes him back to the closest farm.

The farm is run down, and is close to ruin. He recognizes it as the old Randall farm. His rescuer is Rayne Randall. She has come home to bury her father, and sell the family farm. Her mother died when she was 12 and her dad sent her off to live with an aunt.

The snowstorm becomes a blizzard of mass proportions and they are stuck indoors for days. They get to know each other, and things get nice and close and personal.

They get rescued by family, even though they didn't really want rescuing. Many things happen in the story......an ex-husband, a former high school sweetheart, a pregnant horse gets stolen, all kinds of adventure that left me wishing I could read faster!

I can't wait for the 3rd book about Matt and Garrett's sister, Nora!

Black Hills Blessing is the second book in the Black Hills series. I recently read the first book in the series and absolutely loved it! Many characters from the first book make appearances in this book, however, this book primarily focuses on Garrett's story. Garrett is Matt Johnson's older brother and a partner in the business the two own in South Dakota.

I was captivated by Garrett's story from the very beginning. I loved how the relationship between him and Rayne took longer to develop and establish then most relationships, even though there was obvious chemistry between them from the beginning of the book.

The pace and speed at which the book and the storyline developed was an amazing decision and choice made by this author. This allowed for all of the important matters to be addressed properly and in an unrushed fashion.

The secondary characters in this series and this book were by far some of my favourite secondary characters I have ever read about. They tied the story together beautifully and created the scenes that ever good book should have.

This book is a beautifull extension of the series. A.C Wilson has done a tremendous job with this novel. There are not many authors that are able to keep the slowed down pace and still captivate readers with the story. This is definitely a 5 star read!!

Sexy cowboy, Garrett is a typical playboy. He wants women for a few things and the dreaded “C” word (commitment) is not one of them.

Rayne is a mysterious, strong willed woman, who left South Dakota 15 years prior. She is filled with anger and hate stemming from the death of her mother. She is unforgiving of her father, because of the part that he played in her mother’s death. She finally returns home to settle her deceased father’s estate.

The paths of these two young people cross after Garrett gets into an argument with his father and he takes off in a snowstorm only to slide off into a ditch. Rayne comes to the rescue and they end up back at her family’s rundown Ranch.

These two. Seriously. They have an incredible, intense attraction, and seeing how neither of them want a commitment, it works. Until the script gets flipped, and Garrett decides he wants much more.

Once again, AC has delivered a top notch, 5 star read. I love the Black Hills, and if I had never had ever visited the place, AC makes you feel like it’s your own home town. The characters are real, the story line is not over the top, and you feel as if you are a part of this story as it unfolds. These characters become your family.

I absolutely love AC’s writing style; it flows so easily and before you know it the story has ended, and it leaves you wanting more!

AMAZING!! I fell in love with Garrett. He is the perfect playboy with the serious side who was crushed early on. Garrett is only a playboy in the sense that he is scared to take the risk, scare to be hurt again. This holds him back and he doesn't realize what he is missing in his life. Until Rayne.

Rayne lost her mother at a young age. She blamed her father so in turn she lost both parents that day. Carrying around an anger and hurt has led her to life of loneliness. She feels as though luck is not on her side. When her father passes, she has to go back to where it all started, Randall Ranch, in Hot Springs, SD. There she meets Garrett.

The passion between these two is enough to melt the panties off of a nun! Garrett and Rayne both are drawn to each other pretty instantly. Its that magnetic pull that keeps them coming back. They have battles to face, insecurities to face....and of course they both have a past with people in it who seem to throw more fuel to fire. I highly recommend this book, you don't have to start with book one, Black Hills Angel, but you get to meet the hot brother Matt in that one as well as the other characters that are entwined in this series.

I received an ARC for an honest review..So I'm giving the supersexy Garrett and Rayne a solid 4.5 Stars!

Oh my, Garrett is such a fabulous new book boyfriend. Holy Cow..

Garrett and Rayne are two peas in a pod. Both keeping themselves distant and out of touch from family, friends, and most importantly~LOVE.

One fateful night in a storm changes the lives of them both.

AC Wilson has such a wonderfully creative writing style, and the teasers that have been out for a while made me DEFINITELY want to read Black Hills Blessing.

Her strong cowboys and the stronger women that fall for them, all the good smexy goin' on.

yeah, definitely worth picking up...

Even though this is book 2 in the Black Hills series, it's not imperative that book 1 is read first...you'll just have the pleasure of meeting the wonderful Matt!

I love these books - hand down. A.C. Wilson has created a world that I just want to be a part of time and time again.

I fell in love with Matt in Black Hills Blessing (book 1) and he's still my guy (lol). But Garrett, well Garrett is a whole different kind of hot, sexy, and uber book boyfriend material!

A snow storm is what brings Garrett and Rayne together. Add cowboy boots and a Stetson to your typical playboy and you get Garrett.

Rayne is tough. She's hurt and she does her damnedest to push Garrett away no matter how much he holds on.

Will she succeed? Or has this playboy cowboy finally met his match?

I can't wait for book 3. A.C. Wilson has hooked me and I'll keep reading until the end!

5 stars for this one - get writing A.C. we need Nora's story!

Nothing is more exciting than a woman riding on a horse and rescue a cowboy in the snow. Yes, ladies our heroine Rayne Randall teaches our hero Garrett Johnson a sexy cowboy aka Mr. Lover from South Dakota, the first lesson in life. Never leave the house without checking the weather first. From that point alone, I loved the book.

As fate would have it, both of them are dealing with pain from their past with family. This story show how Garrett help Rayne fights her demons and see she is not alone in this world. I have to say, A.C. Wilson give her readers a roller coaster of emotions. Yes, I was crying.

The supporting cast was great too, we get to see what is going on in Matt, Andie, and Nora lives.

This Garrett's and Rayne's story.
Both Garrett and Rayne have experienced bad relationships in the past and don't have any plans on settling down so they plan on just having a sexual experience together. Since they are snowed in together, this goes on for a couple of days.
The more time that Garrett spends with Rayne starts to change is views on relationships. He starts thinking that maybe he could have a stable relationship and settle down as long as it is with Rayne but first he has to convince her to stay in Hot Springs.
We get to catch up with the other members of the Johnson family and see that Matt and Andy are doing great and we get a glimpse that all may not be well with Nora. Can't wait to read the next book in the series to find out what Nora's story is.

Garrett finds out his dad wants to leave the family ranch to his brother and storms off.......during a blizzard and with a broken down truck. He hears a bang on his window, only to find a horse and rider. Just when he thinks the person who saved him was a guy, it turns out to be a woman Rayne. Rayne, was at her father's ranch to get it ready to sell.

Rayne ends up being the female version of Garrett. Except she has a lot of issues, one being, she thinks her father killed her mother. But in this book you find out why Garrett is the way he is. The whole family try to help them get through all the problems they face. I cant wait til the next in the series is release!!!

This is the first book I have read by Ms. Wilson but it will not be the last. Rarely do you find a story set in the rural Midwest, having been to some of the places in the book brought the story home for me. I enjoyed the sexual tension between Rayne and Garrett. Both characters have trust issues and have been wounded by someone they loved. Hurts and secrets abound in this story. The weaving and unraveling of the tale is what AC Wilson does best. I have other titles on my TBR and they will be moved up to the top. I love a good cowboy story and that is exactly what I got in this book.

I was for Matt but this book made me a HUGE Garrett fan. Two very lost and broken souls found each other by chance in a snow storm. Rayne was planning on getting in and out and back to Kansas before anything or one could know, but Garrett and their pull for each other was crazy. Lots of stress and secrets had needed answers and with the help they were slowly tho. Not without a broken heart or two. Great book. Love this series. Got to love Cowboys.

I was given this book for an honest review. This is the 2nd book in the series but can be read as a standalone which is how I read it. It was an enjoyable read. The reason I rated 4 stars is because I had a bit of trouble getting into the book within the first couple of chapters. I am super happy that I stuck with it. Very well written and just perfect for all those cowboy fantasies. LOVE ME SOME COWBOY...

Nice

It's a nice story, It dragged on a little to much in the beginning and For some reason I'm just not satisfied. Something was missing. I feel like there could have been so much more to the story. Allot of crying instead of living.

From reading Black Hills Angel (Book 1) to reading this one, I can see growth in this author. While it seemed to take me a while to finish the book because it didn't grip me as tightly as some books, I can definitely see the makings of a great writer in this author.

"The winds of the past swirled around them and threatened to wreak havoc."

One of the things I love about Ms. Wilson's writing is her descriptive, flowery language. She has a grasp on figurative language that is lacking in a lot of new authors. For that, I applaud her because it's something I'm partial to and shows a talent for and understanding of literary devices that can add so much to a story.

I did enjoy both main characters, even more so than the characters in Book 1. Rayne in particular was a complex, damaged character whose damaged state was believable. Not that Garrett's past damage wasn't believable, but I felt Rayne's pain much more strongly than I did his.

And I'm glad Mother Johnson wasn't as much of b*tch in this book as she was in the first one. I'm still not a fan of hers. She's got some work to do to truly redeem herself in my eyes.

There were some editing issues with this book. The most prominent were missing commas that led to run-on sentences and the excessive use of "too" in the wrong context. When "to" ended up at the end of a sentence as an adverb, it was spelled "too" because of its position in the sentence. "Too" indicates "also" or "as well" and isn't dependent upon where it occurs in a sentence. I only mention this technically for the benefit of the author, in the case that she reads this review. It's a very small thing that occurred frequently but could be easily corrected in future writing.

The only other critiques I have are:
1. There were a couple of instances where, in the pov of one character, the thoughts of the other character were indicated, leading me to checking the pov again and then asking myself, "How does he/she know?".

2. The first half of the story lacked some action. I had a hard time really getting into the book. Though everything that happened was feasible and made sense, I wasn't really drawn into the story until after 50%. The first half just seemed to move a bit slowly. Not enough to make me quit reading obviously, but it led to me taking longer to read the book than is usual for me.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and, as I mentioned before, enjoyed witnessing the improvement in the author's writing and her language skills. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

Black Hills Blessing is book #2 in the Black Hills Series (Book #1- Black Hills Angel.

This book was slightly better then the first one. Although there are some strong similarities as well. The over all feel and plot of the shorty was very sweet and heart filled. The characters are a lot more lovable in the is book and you get a little bit better insight not only into the characters that are the main ones in this book, but also of the main characters of the last book and a glimpse into what the next book might hold.

The plot however moves just as slow as the first. I found myself getting bored easy and putting the book down often. I feel that there was too much fluff and filler and not near the amount of details, back story and chemistry building as I would have liked (or seen the potential for). As in the previous book, some of their actions are either unbelievable or a little creepy. For instance the man mistakes the woman for a man when they first meet, and they fall into bed minutes after meeting each other after she invited him to stay at her home. I also find it strange and concerning that both brothers (main character from book 1 and Book 2) both fall madly in love at very first site to woman that they don't know and that the women, have not problem letting these strange men into their homes and lives. I concept is sweet and nice though. It's very romantic to think that someone would fall in love so hard and so fast with a complete stranger that is so perfect for them in everyway.

I will continue the series in hoped that each one will be better then the last and in hopes of getting to know the characters better. Overall the books are good and have lots of potential.

Sweet read

This was an amazing story. Rayne has had a rough life thinking her father killed her mother, now he's gone and she's back home to decide what to do with the estate he left her. In the middle of a snow storm, she rescues Garrett and her life changes almost immediately. They are attracted to each other immediately and things between them get hot and heavy quickly, but Rayne cannot let go of the past and digs her heels in refusing to jump into a love she's afraid of. Garrett is patient with her and even after she's broken his heart, he still does something amazing, gives her a choice.
