This book was a mishmash of extremes. Unfortunately the good and the bad were in two different areas making the book completely useless to me.
The instructions were excellent, big clear photos of each step plus a general techniques info section in the front that covered gobs of stuff in detail, including a couple of things I hadn't seen elsewhere. One thing I found really helpful was a picture of what the back of something needle felted would look like. That was tremendously helpful.
But then the projects. Oh dear, they were just awful. There was only one I would make and that was the dog because I'm a sucker for anything that's a dog. But really, it wasn't even that cute and then it was on rollers for some reason. I would make it without the odd looking nonworking wheels.
Seriously, I would turn the page and think, "This next project will be something I'll like," but no, really, no. There were only a couple that I would even describe as not hideous.
But tastes are different. You might like the designs, in which case this would be an excellent book for you because of the great instructions.
I picked this one up at the library based on the cover, and I do like the little animal patterns a lot. However, the rest of the patterns just aren't to my personal taste. But what Jenn Docherty can do with felt! If you're looking for broad inspiration, or wearable felt crafts, this book should have a lot for you.
Very well detailed. It was a bit repetitive, but I finished the book without any questions on how to make the projects. I am just beginning the needle felt craft, so I don't really know what I'm doing, but I easily followed the instructions in this book.
This is definitely a cute collection of projects. I haven't worked with felt too much as of yet, but I think that this would be a great starting point for beginners like me.
I especially like the little fruits and mushrooms, I'm sure I'll make a million of those!
A variety of needle felted projects ranging from wearables to cute little animal figures. As someone new to felting, the instructions were clear, and the information on felting helpful. Lots of inspiration for future projects.
