MINEMINEMINE at its finest

Get a dictionary. Look up the word obsessed, and next to it you’ll find a picture of Derek (33). But not just any picture, oh no, you’ll see a picture of him with heart emojis for eyes (like 😍).

Because Derek has found the woman that is IT for him, and he’s not gonna let anyone take from him, not even this woman’s fiancé 😬.
”Have you ever been so thirsty when you get a drink to your lips that you can’t seem to swallow it down fast enough to quench your thirst?”

Chloe (30) has been with Adam for about a year and a half, most of the time they’ve been engaged. About six months ago, Adam was in a serious car accident that has limited his movement. He’s gone through therapy, many doctors’ appointments, and a change in his lifestyle in order to adjust to his new norm ☹️. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have sensation down below, which has put a strain on their physical relationship. So he came up with a solution.

He gives Chloe a hall pass, but she must follow some rules: no repeats, nothing under their roof, and no conversations about when and who she does it with.

Chloe’s angry that he would suggest this and doesn’t want to do it 😬. What she’s missing is other aspects of intimacy in their relationship, but Adam doesn’t see that. In fact, he keeps pushing and insisting for her to do this, due to the fact that his parents have an open marriage and it’s worked for them 😬. Plus, it’ll all allow him to focus on his rehabilitation and try to resume a more normal life.

When she’s talking to her breast friend (yes, breast is correct 🤣) Alannah about this while out clubbing, she doesn’t know that the club owner, Derek, is also listening in on this conversation 😅.

And he wants to be her hall pass 👀.

What she doesn’t know is that he wants more than just one night 👀

Even if she doesn’t want her to continue after 😅
”No, it won’t be a one-off. Last night you agreed to make all my fantasies come true, Chloe. And that’s what you’re gonna do.”

Buckle up buttercup… it’s about to get wild 😈.

What I liked/loved
—how much of a bulldozer Derek is 😈. He really gives no Fs 🤣. His IDGAF attitude only applies to Chloe and her happiness/keeping her. He sees. He wants. He gets 💁🏻‍♀️

—the audacity on this man 😮‍💨🫠💅

—how much of a cinnamon roll he is 🥹. Look. It might not seem like it, but he is 🥹. If Derek had a tail, it would constantly be wagging 🤣. He just wants to make Chloe happy 🫶
“I know you’re afraid, but you don’t need to be. I’ve talked the talk, now I’ll walk the walk, little bunny. I hope you clued in on that walk to me today, that you have a man who will worship you until the day I die. Who will ravish you every fucking day until I’m too old to do it. Who will go to any and all extremes to have you, to keep you. To let you know that I take my job very seriously. I’m the luckiest man on the planet. I get to give you everything you dreamt about having when you felt all that aching, all that loneliness, the rejection. I’m so glad I get to make you happy.”

—how sweet he is ❤️. This man will do anything for Chloe 🥹. Hungry? Let me feed you? Dirty? Let me shower you 👀. Sad? Let me hug you 🫶. Hoooorny? Let me f you 😈. He’s the total package 😉🫠
”Anything you want, Chloe. Anything you need. As long as you marry me and spend your life with me. Each night beside me. As long as I know where you are, and that you’re safe, always. Keep the promises you’ll make when you say your vows. That’s it.”

—the character and relationship development ❤️. Both of them need to grow and understand each other in order for their relationship to work. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies, but when they both finally connect, it’s the best 🥹. Gahhhh 🫶

—how realistic Chole’s emotions are 🫶. Dealing with what she’s dealing with isn’t easy, and she’s gonna do whatever she thinks is right 🤷🏻‍♀️

—the 🔥. Oh Lawd this is Steeeeamy with a capital S. These two make bunnies look like amateurs during mating season 🤣 👀. It all starts getting 🔥 by 13% and goes until the very end 🥵 and it’s 🫠💦

—how much Derek cares about Chloe’s🔥 💦. Derek is a giver 😉 in all aspects 😮‍💨. Fantasies fulfilled 🫠🔥💁🏻‍♀️

—he calls her baby and little bunny 🫠

—the times I smiled 👀 and laughed 🤣
”Sweet baby Jesus,” Coraline says from behind me. “Five movie star hotties had an orgy thirty-odd years ago and made a pretty baby.”

—the book Chloe is reading 👀. I wonder what it is 🤣🤡🤣🔥

—how protective he is ❤️. Yes a cinnamon roll, a sweetie, a bulldozer, but also an alpha and all about making sure she’s okay 🫶

—no owd 👏🏻. He’s ALLLLL about his woman 💁🏻‍♀️

—the blackmail 😅. Welp… he wants her 😅 and he’s not about to have her use the hall pass on anyone else 🤷🏻‍♀️ because…

—MINEMINEMINE and JP 😈. She’s his and no one else’s 💅

—the non and dub con 👀. It’s more like dub 🔥, but some will see it as non 😅. Derek doesn’t know the word no 😅 and Chloe can only benefit 😉

—alllll the kinks 🫠. LORDT, this book get DIIIIIRTAAAAY 🔥🥵. Derek really said “hold my pants” before diving in 💦

—the angst 😭. Yup. I cried 😭. I was in all my feels while reading

—their backgrounds ☹️. I love that these two aren’t perfect and have their own demons to tackle 🫶. There’s beauty in imperfections ❤️

—the side characters 👀. Besides Chloe’s amazing breast friend, there are other side characters and relationships I wouldn’t mind reading books for 👀

What I wanted more of
—for us to see some of the comeuppance that certain characters needed to get 😅😐

—a longer epilogue 😭

Overall, I LUUUUURVED this 😍 and didn’t want it to end 😭

I tried! I really did.

I HATED the h like I really didn’t like her or think her actions and reasons for things made sense. Her character is is like a DRIED PIECE OF TOAST.

I LOVED the H and he is the only reason I got to 40% he is OTT amazingness and the h didn’t deserve him. I should have loved this book. But I didn’t like the dynamic between the h and H.

I was bored… like why is this book so long? And boring? Probably cause of the h and her lack luster personality.

I loved the premise but I didn’t sign up for a h that is the equivalent of a dead fish. She legit went from a semi intelligent woman to a complete idiot and adult child. NOTHING ABOUT HER MADE SENSE TO ME! She was reactive that’s it. She didn’t think didn’t try to be anything but a wet whole and a crying baby who hated the H.

If you want to read this for the Dubcon then this is for you it’s a giant Dubcon kink book and everyone’s actions and reactions are only to further the kink.

This was a waste. Had the 700pg book not been a bunch of H hating from the h maybe I would feel differently but as of now it’s a mess I don’t want to read only to end up more angry and frustrated.

Ho-ly sheets, people! DD has left me shooketh, lol. You'd think with a title like "Cheater" we would know what it's about, but it really surprised me. Such a great, unique storyline that had my heart pumping, giving it almost a thriller feel, all the way to the end. I just 👏🏼 couldn't 👏🏼 put 👏🏼 it 👏🏼 down! So many boxes checked:

✅ psycho, cinnamon roll hero
✅ blackmail
✅ birth control tampering
✅ somnophilia
✅ no one can touch her but him
✅ steals her from another man

The character development was awesome. I liked how Chloe wasn't perfect. She was definitely a "good girl", but she could be bratty and unreasonable, and it only made me love her more. I loved her back story and it made me feel super invested in her happiness. I really liked how I was surprised by Derek. I read a lot of psycho heroes, but his character had way more depth than I expected. Still cray-cray, but there are definitely "reasons", lol. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE a good "steals her from another man" trope, but Derek SO takes it to the next level with the blackmail, kind of a dream man meets nightmare, but I was totally here for it 🤷🏻‍♀️. There's also a great cast of side characters with whom you'll get completely invested and you'll leave wanting more from all of them. This book is about as "girthy" as it gets, but don't let that put you off - Cheater is easily going in my "best of 2024"!

My Review

This was in a word amazing, such a unique concept. Do not be put off by the title as the way this is set-up made it easy to get on board with and it just worked. Derek, oh man where do I start, I bloody adored him. He's totally unhinged, extremely single-minded and with such focus that when he's fixated he'll do anything to achieve his end goal, which ultimately is acquiring Chloe for his own. There is nothing he won't do, no line he won't cross. He's like an incredibly hot steamroller who believes the end justifies the means. His methods are toxic and unorthodox and Chloe's wishes are secondary. He's prepared to give her anything her little bunny heart desires except freedom from his attentions and I was completely won over by him, regardless of his psycho-stalker tendencies.

Chloe well she's a good girl at heart, loyal and a people pleaser. She stood by her fiance Adam after his accident even when he wasn't supportive and there for her. When Derek completely derails her life she fights till the bitter end refusing to succumb. She's wary of just how far he'll go to keep her in his life and worried what will happen when he loses interest. Though Derek assures her that will never happen.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts their encounters together are electric. Derek and Chloe sizzle red-hot and even when Chloe is telling Derek he's crazy and it will never happen he still does it for her. His hyper-focus towards her and her needs is enticing and new and there's a part of her that definitely gets off on all of his intense attention even if she won't admit it aloud. There's also some definite dubious consent here Derek is a walking red-flag and he makes no apologies for it. In fact, he's refreshingly upfront about most things including his intentions.

This was a long read with plenty of angst but I wasn't once bored and read it super fast. Derek is such a curious mix of ruthless toxicity crossed with a huge slice of gooey sweetness it shouldn't have worked but it did. I totally devoured this it was a complete hit in every way and I thoroughly recommend reading it.

I tried. I really did. But there's only so much I can take. I wanted to finish this book SO BADLY but the length of it and Chloe's unchanged behavior is the last straw for me. If this book were gripping, reading it would be a breeze even though I normally don't tend to prefer *very* long books due to my attention span and limited patience. But this book wasn't worth it for me. The premise was really good though - something different and unique - but it isn't enough to make me want to read more.

Look, I love me a FMC who has a backbone and knows how to fight back. But a balance needs to be struck. If there's no romance even near the 50% mark...I'm giving up😭 Apparently after seeing my mutuals' reviews, this goes up to the 90% mark and I definitely DO NOT have the patience to wait until then. Derek was DELICIOUS and completely unhinged which I love in my books. Chloe's repetitive stubbornness got boring after a while. The smut was cringey too😬

And Alannah...I'm still very confused about her tbh. When I read a romance book, I really don't like it when the heroine's best friend ogles/thirsts over the hero. Maybe it's because I've experienced friendship betrayal, but that's a BIG NO from me and makes me feel icky because it's very disrespectful imo. The whole thing with the ex-fiancé was really dragged out for no reason. Honestly? I feel really bad for Derek because he's been nothing but caring for Chloe. I mean yeah, he's unhinged but I really wanted to see Chloe give in to him at a certain point and stop fighting. It's fuckin frustrating y'all🙄

Oh, and don't even get me started on the atrocious use of "naan bread" and "naan bread pizza" STOP. JUST STOP🤚🏻 I am sick of seeing things being whitewashed😤 It literally takes a minute to do some research and write the actual name of the food item. It's naan fyi. Saying naan bread is like saying toast bread. NO. Also wtf is naan pizza??? Stop butchering naan - it's perfect by itself or with some kadhai paneer (YUM). And while we're at it, it's not chai tea. It's just chai because chai = tea. And you don't say namaste at the end of a video ffs. Namaste is a greeting to welcome someone😭 Damn. It felt good to get that off my chest. As a brown gal, I was extremely irritated to see these terms being thrown around and carelessly used. I had half a mind to DNF right then and there sheesh💀

Anyways, that's my rant for this book lmao. If you have the patience to sit through a 700+ page book where the romance happens much later, then this is the book for you (this is one of the reasons why I'm not built for slowburn lol - I need some sort of development in the relationship) Brb while I go distract myself by re-reading one of my faves☺️

I’m not into sex scenes that are described like a fifteen year old using chatGPT wrote them so I will probably DNF this.

Edited: Downgraded to one star because I managed to finish it and I’m pissed. The word frown was used 57 times because that is literally the only emotion the fmc showed. She hates the MC even until chapter 56 which is at 85% of the book. That’s her fighting, cursing him out, and genuinely hating him at more than halfway to the end so I don’t see how this book is a romance??? They kept saying how full of life and fun she used to be but we were not shown a single likable thing about her I’m so confused about these good ratings yall I HATED her. I love stalker romances but this was NOT it.

“This is good sex. This is great sex. This absolutely is the hottest night of my life.”

“I’m so glad this wasn’t underwhelming. It’s the polar opposite of that.”

“And does it ever feel good. Length and girth and rotating hips.

“And now I’m thinking ooh, bonus because his fingers slide under my hip until he finds my clit and works my magic button, which doesn’t take long to detonate. When I majestically explode, moaning a garbled string of vowels into the mattress a few minutes later, I’m ready for another snooze. And the vagina hospital, if such a thing exists, because mine probably looks like minced meat at this point.”

When someone will ask me this question
"What's the meaning of obsessed?"
I will show them the photo of Derek.

Derek's world revolves around Chloe. He will do anything and everything to get her, to keep her happy and make her love him. But she doesn't budge because he is an unhinged psychopath who stalked and blackmailed her 😗🤭 all because he wanted to keep her happy. I am obsessed with Derek the same way he is obsessed with Chloe. His ott protectiveness and possessiveness was hot af. THE BEST BOOK I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME.

What ow drama? No one exists for him except for Chloe ✨😗 (no ow drama)

Cheating? He will have a heart attack by the thought of anyone touching him that is not his Chloe 🤭 (no cheating)

This book is everything. Everything. I stayed up til almost 2 am reading and I have zero regrets. I was downright giddy reading this entire thing. This book is so ridiculously good. It’s easily one of the best books I’ve read this entire year… or ever really. I can’t praise it enough.

This is definitely a dark romance and not meant for everyone. If you don’t like dark romance, don’t read this. This isn’t meant for all readers.

Most “steal her from another man” tropes end up being really underwhelming and disappointing. This did not disappoint me. Its execution is perfect. It’s literally everything I’ve ever wanted in this kind of book.

The hero, Derek, is intense. He’s solely focused on getting the girl, by any means necessary. Literally, the end justifies the means to this man. He’s quite unhinged for Chloe (the heroine). He’s absolutely ruthless in his pursuit of her. This is my kind of hero through and through. No pesky morals to get in his way. There is no line he won’t cross if it means getting Chloe.

Chloe tries throughout to escape his clutches and cope with his laser focused intensity. She’s overwhelmed by Derek’s methods. The chemistry between them is sizzling.

This is pretty spicy. It’s a fast burn. They get it on for the first time around 15% and it carries throughout the entire book. With the exception of their first encounter, when she’s using her hall pass, most of the spicy bits would be considered dubcon, possibly toeing the noncon line.

No virgins
No manwhore
Push away from h
No OW/OM drama
No 3rd act breakup
Separation
HEA
Epilogue

Safety - this is pretty safe *between* Derek and Chloe. In the beginning, Chloe’s paraplegic fiancé grants her a hall pass. She doesn’t want to use it but Derek seduces her after finding out about it. After that, the rules of the hall pass are broken so technically Chloe is cheating on her fiancé however unwillingly.

After, the hall pass is used, she shares a few kisses with her fiancé but it never progresses beyond that.

Do I feel sorry for the fiancé? Not really. He obviously isn’t the one for Chloe. Derek basically incentivized/bribed him to step out of the picture and he doesn’t fight to keep Chloe.

The separation stems from her pushing him to get treatment for his mental health. He’s in treatment for a little over 2 months and they have no contact during that time.

3.5 but I'm rounding up because it feels more 4 than 3.

What I loved:

✅ Mr. "Steele" your girl 😜
✅ Non-con
✅ Sweet Psycho Stalker
✅ BC tampering
✅ Possessive and Jealous Alpha male
✅ No OW drama, the h is all he sees

Seriously, there was a lot perfect about this book. The chemistry in the sex scenes were good, quite a few funny interactions, the H was really a sweet perfect guy....just a little unorthodox in his methods 😂

Now, as for the drawbacks... first off this book was loooooooooooong. 707 pages long. I do appreciate the fact that instead of making us by 3 books, DD gives us one big story, but because of the length, it sometimes felt like a slog to get through which leads us to problem two and really my biggest complaint...they spent so little time in that 700 pages being an actual couple! There's the time period in which they actually use the hall pass, which is like maybe 3 or 4 chapters and then it's pretty much her being pissed off at him and him being infatuated with her. For that many pages there needed to be more than of a mutual connection. If Chloe had just calmed down and stopped being so reactive over every little thing there would have been room for a more interesting story imo, whereas this was just really the same thing over and over again. Derek would make an OTT gesture, Chloe would be a total bitch to him about it, the whole thing feels awkward until Derek forces sex on her which she secretly wants, she feels ashamed, she hates him which leads to the cycle starting all over again. And then we get maybe a chapter or 2 at the end when they're actually together. It felt like building a quality relationship and connection was less important than adding unnecessary suspense to the story. We know she's not gonna divorce him, you don't need to make it vague which way she feels all the way up until the last chapter. In a book of this length, it doesn't give you that satisfying feeling when everything works out because you're just exhausted with it all by the time they get there. Overall though, I enjoyed and recommend this book. It was definitely an instant one click for me, I'm always excited for DD's new releases.

When I read the summary I immediately thought of the Iconic Lady Chatterly's Lover by D. H. Lawrence. Then a few chapters in I was like this is a much modern take on giving your spouse a Hall pass to "cheat" I was shocked then unbelievably surprised by how good and well planned the story was! It may be 700 pages but the story hooks you in and the rest is a wild ride of emotions frustrations, and laugh out loud moments. I understand that this could have easily been 200 hundred pages less, the drama was drawn out A LOT.

There was a huge push and pull between Derek and Chloe. It makes sense that she is hesitant to give in to his advance because of her trauma with her failing relationship with her Disabled fiancé, Derrek is a literal psycho threatening to "harm" her friends and family especially her said fiancé. Have some Decorum Derrek the threats come out once the prey is already in your embrace lulled by a false sense of security and almost but surely about to fall in love with you. Amateur.

I'll give him Derek some credit though! He knew what he wanted and mercilessly went after it. The only downside is my man was too impatient and completely lost his head and all that careful preparation he had planned to slowly win her over, turn her mind, body and heart towards him especially her loyalty! Down the drain. I believe that the psychological and emotional manipulation could have been a bit more Machiavellian in regard to planning the seduction and wooing of Chloe's favor. I guess that author was busy writing about how Chloe was going to stand her ground and completely reject his advances to get her to lower her guard.

WARNING!!! this is an emotional SLOW SLOW BURN!!!. They don't officially become a couple unto 90% into the book! The push and pull was BRUTAL. Chloe was the most stubborn heroine I have ever read about. She is also probably the only heroine I read that was able to keep her senses despite having the typical body betraying syndrome.

I was dying by the time the DD prince finally decided the readers have had enough emotional torture.

There is a lot to unpack in this first book of a possible continued series confirmed by the author but there is no official date set at the moment.

Meh. Very dysfunctional and not in a good way, it tries to make the hero a good psychopath when there’s nothing of the sort. It’s the heroine who cheats in this one and I admit it’s one of the reasons I rated two instead of one. The heroines boyfriend has been in an accident and he’s not able to have sex and since he feels pressure because the heroine is horny, he gives her a pass to cheat with randoms. Sadly the first one that the heroine finds is the hero, a psycho Uber obsessed man that manipulates her, threatens and even has her followed, watched and controlled because he wants her, he wants to marry her and wants to impregnate her. So, no consent, a lot of sex and a feeling of powerlessness that is everywhere in the story. The heroine goes from a selfish manipulative boyfriend to a sociopath. He even accepts to be hospitalized for some time but it doesn’t work. He doesn’t physically hurt her, ever, but he threatens to hurt all her loved ones which is even worse imo. The heroine is not very sane herself so I wasn’t very much worried. Those two would probably commit suicide and murder on each other in a years time if it’s real life but this is fiction so we take it as it comes.

What in the soap opera is this. It all goes downhill after 10%. Derek is a live example of seeing a hot guy but once opens his mouth makes you wish he kept it shut. Not to mention this author needs an editor so bad. This book had no business being this long.

I really struggled with how to rate this book. It started off great like I could not put it down but there was a change I felt in a direction that felt wrong. It was also long. So we have a MMC who becomes obsessed with the MFC character and will do anything to get her. I really liked how it started and Chloe’s struggle with using the hall-pass her fiancé gave her. That part was well written. I felt her struggle against doing it and her breakdown after felt real and honest. I did not connect with her fiancé and did not feel bad for him but I guess that was the point on how it was written. I HATED the BBS in this. The book felt like it took a sharp left turn from Derek seducing her and wooing her with maybe a little bit of a darker setup/manipulation to straight up blackmail. He blackmails her to have sex with him. She is straight up not wanting to do it. The author using the BBS for most of the book to gloss over the sexual assault and that is what it is was wrong. It feels like she was sending a message to anyone that was forced to have sex in someway that’s it not rape if you orgasm. BBS can happen during violent rape too btw some women’s body respond to simulation regardless of how they feel internally. The BBS made Chloe’s struggle difficult at times to read. I really felt bad for her as the mind feels guilt that the body is responding. So I did feel like the author was 100% glossing over rape. The author is so good at writing this plot that it felt like she was trying to say it’s not rape because he loves her and she orgasmed. I feel like if he had manipulated her into continuing an affair and got the fiancée to leave her behind would have been a lot better. A conflict when she finds out no BBS and epic grovel would have made this book a 5 star. I did love how obsessed he was with her. She was it for him and that was it. I did love the best friend. She was fierce and loyal. The twist with his Mom felt unnecessary and just did not add anything to the story. I also felt it was abrupt how she all of sudden loved him. She was fighting all the way throughout the book against what he was doing. He goes to extensive therapy gets out and she loves him. It just felt like another sharp turn in the story. I do think that authors need to take more responsibility when it comes to rape via violence or blackmail or anyway that someone is forced to have sex when they don’t want to. We all know that younger girls get their hands on books like this. This book gives the message that being blackmailed to have sex is not rape. There is the wedding day scene where it’s straight no confusion forced rape. So even though the writing was good, the start was good I can’t in good conscience rate it any higher.

Thank you to whoever recommended this book to me. It was such a great read. I love thick books, and I can't lie—this book is thhiicckk. Well worth it.

Chole receives a hall pass with rules from her fiancée after being shell-shocked and adamant about not doing it. She meets Derek Steele and gives in. To say Derek is obsessed is an understatement. He will do anything to make Chole his, including blackmail.

I love the hall pass gone wrong aspect. At times, I hated to love Derek. He is a very complex character with so many layers. But one thing is for sure: Don’t cross him. He will wish you never did. He can be completely unhinged.

This book was everything, betrayal, blackmail, obsession, possessiveness, tragedy, smokin’ hot chemistry, and love.

I can't wait to see what happens next with the Steele brothers.

Somehow I made it through this book. I was beginning to doubt I would because this is a long book. I really liked the plot of the story but certain scenes were Repetitive. The story dragged and could have ended much sooner.

Cheater by DD Prince is a sensational story that starts with a bang from page one and doesn’t let go. Derek is deeply flawed but makes you cheer for him to find his happiness and peace. Chloe has been thrust into a scary and dangerous journey and endures heart-wrenching and compelling moments that would break most women. Her resilience shows her strength and determination to compromise and overcome.
DD Prince has always delivered wonderful stories. And she has the amazing ability of thrusting the reader into fabulous pages of deceit, forgiveness, and finally redemption, creating a story that is both emotional and uplifting.
The attraction between Derek and Chloe is off the charts insane from the very first hall pass, and their tumultuous relationship keeps you eagerly turning the pages.
DD’s writing is filled with compassion and wit, and captures the unique and complex nature of human emotions.
This book is an absolute must-read for anyone who loves Alpha men who will stop at nothing to claim and keep the women they love.
Highly recommended!

I have read other DD Prince books and loved them, but this one was a struggle.
I think that the only thing I liked from this lengthy book was the resolution at the end. Kind of.
I liked the FMC, but not the MMC. I love a morally gray man but whatever this train wreck was, it was awful. 700 pages of bad writing, errors, and ridiculous language.
I understand the beginning and now that relates to the title but that is done and over with after a few chapters and at that point it’s not relevant to the plot anymore. I definitely thought things were going to play out differently with the first MMC and then also the second MMC.
But tension is just miserable, between like everyone. The besties, the men, the FMC, the family drama. 😵‍💫
And at one point the family drama comes to a head and then *poof* it’s resolved with no story time.
I did so much skimming.
So. Much. Skimming.

I was amused though that DD drops hints at her FMC in this book reading another one of her books (Wild, specifically).

There wasn't much substance to this REALLY long book. Up until 95% the fmc was fighting the mmc and doing everything to hate him. There was nothing else to her personality. The mmc was a more complex character and I actually started to feel bad for him. I have to point out that I'm rating this as a dark romance and he's a morally gray character. He did everything for her, and he was satisfied with getting a getting a back rub when something tragic happened.

In the end he didn't change in his obsession with her, so I didn't understand how all of a sudden she just changed her mind and the book ended.

This is somewhere between 3.5-4 for me, I can’t decide.
I’d have liked it much better if it was shorter, some things were way unnecessary and exaggerated.
Nonetheless, I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK despite struggling to read these days, I ate it up.
Derek was hell of a persistent man!

Sooo I finished it.
Was it worth it? Probably not
Did I enjoy reading it? Not really
But did I feel like I had to finish simply because I invested too much time reading it? Definitely

Pros:
The smut was top tier good (in my opinion) dude made sure she enjoyed it every single time, even the dub con parts
I actually enjoyed the h Chloe, I feel like she had reasonable reactions to the shit he was doing and it obviously worked because in the end he actually tried to fix himself (emphasis on tried lol)
And I did enjoy how his goal was her happiness, even if he went about it wrong.

Cons:
His entire family are fucked up and I have no interest in reading any of their books, especially the twins that were giving weird incest vibes with her husband that looks nearly identical to her twin brother.
One of Derek's (the H) sisters Grace actually annoyed me so fucking much, like I felt she also needed psychological help. I also felt like she was really condescending even if that's not what the author was going for.
Adam "the fiance" honestly I hated him and wished he was given nothing.
All wasn't a huge fan of Chloe's breastie, she was very indecisive of her feelings and kept pushing Chloe to try but then also telling her to run?? Like make up your fricking mind.

All in all it was an interesting read I just wish it wasn't 700 freaking pages and if you like the dubcon kink and extremely obsessive, stalker-ish and extremely possessive with a h that actually has realistic reactions to her situation then I would recommend this book (also if you want an extremely long head empty book to pass the time)
