A really detailed and easy to follow text book with good pictures, graphs and examples, not to mention the history of embalming. Too bad I moved to a country where embalming is outlawed and all my study was in vain.

Has anybody ever heard of desairology? I'm sorry where's my manners. I meant to say restorative artists?

What I would really love to know how many mortuary schools require a class on restorative artists? (Desairologist)

The answer to that is every mortuary school requires a class on restorative artists.

Now the interesting part about this, my grandmother Noella Papagno had no had no idea this was going on.

You know normally I wouldn't say anything but since I found my copyrighted material cited in your book and it says you have test booklet of 30 questions and answers pull directly out of my book?

Not to mention you spell my company name wrong that's irritating.

I'm sure I will continue to consult this embalming bible throughout the next couple of years, if not longer. There are not many published sources for those looking to refine embalming and funeral home prep room skills. There are a few things that feel dated in this textbook, but overall I would recommend it to any embalming student, and hope to have one handy in any prep room I'd work in.

The current edition of the book is horrible. When it was put together each chapter was sent to a different person to update/edit. As a result there are questions that have no answer anywhere in the book. There are questions whose answers are in chapter after the one the question is listed in. There is also a lot of contradictory information. It also gives a lot of useless information on methods that would not be used in the real world. So we were reading the info in the book then going to class and learning how "it would really be done."

I have the 5th edition of this (2011 release) and found this copy. Not much different in terms of practice, though the pictures and diagrams are woefully outdated. If you're studying for the Funeral Service Education Boards, you could likely pass your lab practicals with this copy. However, the ethics and documentation used now has changed so much, the latter half of the book is useless. Good find.

Remarkably informative and easily understood. My copy is highlighted and written in, almost to the point of delirium. I did not pick this up for light reading, but for a college course. Either way, it is something that I'll happily return to now that I'm many years out of school.
