Hushed can be read as a standalone novel and is book one in the Western Palm series.
When Tess meets stepbrothers Blake and Jason, their differences and her past push her toward Jason even though she’s instantly drawn to Blake. Tess quickly learns people aren’t always who they seem to be when her relationship with Jason ends.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Holy Stressed me out read people. I am telling you this book is looking like a contender for my top picks from Jan 1-May 31st list. ANGST ANGST ANGST!!!
Ok so this book is about Tess who was totally screwed over by the bad boy Chris in high school. So she goes to college and is going ot find Mr. Perfect Polo Shirt with Loafers becasue he will treat her right right?? WRONG!! Anyway, she goes to a party with her roomie and sees Mr. Tall dark and pierced checking her out.....Holy Hotness the kiss she gives him and he returns is WOWZERS. She however walks away and meets his brother...er...step brother and begins to date him...booooo!! Well we fast forward a few months AND Jason has shown his true colors and Tess sees him grinding on a random chick even though he wants to get her back..niiice right. Well Blake (aka Mr. Tall Dark and Pierced Hottie) checks on her. WELL he can't stop this attraction and TBH neighter can she. SOOOOO the college friends have a trip planned to go to BLake and Jason's folks house for Spring Break. Tess has to go and ends up sharing a bed with...GULP....BLAKE even though Jason presumed it would be with him. NOOOOOw, Blake and Tess only cuddle and make out but DAMN were those scenes amazing.
Now after Break, Tess freezes Blake out and convinces herself Blake is a DOUCHE like the Ex who conveniently shows up at a party and makes Blake go bonkers!!! LOL. So this crazy chemistry to two have but keep denying is making me go batty. I even told Britni I wanted to kick Tess in the ovaries!! LOL SERIOUSLY!!!
So they begin to ignore each other and Blake becomes a bit of a man-well you know...trying to drown himself in other girls to forget Tess BUUUT fate will not allow then to forget the other. Tess is working and guess who shows up??? Yup, Well they run into each other and the relationship is born!!! So we get to see them together and exploring this Love that they both are afraid to say for fear of rejecctipon fro the other.......then school starts up annnnnd they keep their love a secret which made me and then both unhappy. i mean why are they hiding...but that is because Blake hasnt told Tess about the SECRET that will destroy them...and lemme tell ya folks Jason totally makes sure to cause them trouble. ANGST ANGST ANGST!!! OMG!!!!
The EPILOGUE was a KILLER!! Man was I thrown for a giant loop!! I mean I was like WHAT!! and OMG SERIOUSLY!! UGH!!!!!! I am so going bonkers wanting....scratch that..needing others to read this book already!!

I wasn't all that impressed. First off it is not a "love triangle" which I can appreciate but the book had a crazy slow start. Like for the first half of the book and then the characters. I didn't really understand all the hang ups they had and why everything was a secret.

Be prepared for a lot of push and pull between our H and h for a while, but when they give in? Oh lord do they GIVE IN in a HOT AND STEAMY WAY! <3

I enjoyed reading about Tess and Blake. Lots of tension and chemistry between the two – sadly it took them a while to finally give in to one another… more so on Tess’s part. Blake is a great guy but Tess has put up a few falls and it takes her a bit to realize that the wall needs to come down.
There is just smattering of just about everything you would like in a romance story – drama, tension, good guy and bad guy, a big secret, and of course some ups and downs (and some of that is between the sheets!)

Loved it
Was a fighting story of half brothers, one who acts so sure of himself but really just trying to out do the other one for attention. Always wants what the other has. A girl is involved and its a nasty mess with the boys fighting for her attention. But its also a second time around with a different girl. All said and done still same girls and hopefully grown up half brothers they end up with the correct girl by there sides.

I absolutely loved this book! The angst of the main character, Tess, was on point! Blake was the bad boy looking guy that was actually the sweetest guy on campus. The slow burn was everything and I loved how they denied it for so long before getting together. Such a great read! I can’t wait for the next one!

I honestly thought this was a pretty good book. I wasn't expecting to be so into it the way I was.
Tess is a girl who sort of has trust issues. She hasn't been lucky in love. She meets Blake and is instantly drawn to him but she definitely judged him like you judge a book by it's cover. He has that bad boy look to him with tattoo's and a lip ring, so you right away assume the worse right! WRONG, Blake is like the nicest guy but Tess can't trust a guy that looks like Blake because she thinks she will get hurt in the long run.
Blake has the bad boy look and he knows it, but he is the nicest guy you can possibly meet. When he meets Tess he knows he is instantly attracted to her, but he figures she thinks he's a jerk because of his looks. He's tired of being judged when they don't even give him a chance to get to know him.
Tess settles for the nice guy, which happens to be Blake's step-brother. She thinks he's a good guy and would make her happy, WRONG again, he turns out to be a really big JERK!
When Tess spends a week in a house with Blake and she sleeps with him in his room, they both start realizing that they feel more for each other. Although they were both attracted to each other since they first met, they knew that it was going to be impossible to stay away from each other (eventually). Blake had a little secret that he didn't want Tess to find out about, but Jason eventually brought it out and had Tess double-thinking her feelings for Blake.
So things start out a little slow between them but everything eventually works out for them. This was a cute story and I really enjoyed it. I liked how it turned out, for them in the end.
I definitely give this book 3.5 stars. I definitely would love to read more from this author.

Tess has been hurt before and she'll be damned if she's falling for anyone like her ex again. Its good guys for her for now on or so she thinks until she finds her current boyfriend cheating on her not that she's too concerned because she's had her eye on Blake for a while but has been to scared to admit the attraction between them. That is until they all go on Spring Break. Blake is all smexy, hot and tattoos, I mean who wouldn't love him. Tess is the good girl, she works hard for what she wants and goes to school to make a better life for herself and doesnt want any guy to complicate things. This book was full of so much drama, never a dull moment and will leave you on an emotional roller coaster! I can't wait to see what Britni Hill comes up with next because this book was just epic!

This is the first I have read from this author and loved it!!It was an easy read that I couldn't put it down. A little bit of angst, just tthe right amount of steamy and few through your kindle at the wall moments.
I totally fell for Blake he has the whole bad boy look going but is the sweetest thing ever!
Tess was a good girl without being a goody, goody. She frustrated me a bit because she seemed to worry about what other people think too much.
The one year later epilogue has me going crazy for the next book. I have to know how the heck these characters got to the situation they are in!

This book made me laugh, cry and feel some serious HEAT! Blake and Tess's story is sure to keep you hooked. Their palpable sexual tension, their undeniable connection, and the secret they feel forced to keep had me flying through this book to find out their fate.

I enjoyed the book I did but I had a little issue with it to. At times I felt like I was reading about a bunch of alcoholics. it seemed whenever anyone had a beverage it was alcohol. It kinda drove me crazy.
Other than that the book was good. You may want to smack the characters once in awhile

So glad I listened to my friend!!
My friend recommended these to me and I was not disappointed!! Blake shows everyone you can't judge a book by its cover, or in this case a guy by his piercings and tats! This is a great story and I can't wait to read the next one, which I will do as soon as I finish this!!

Touching New Adult romance, that focuses on the theme of not judging a book by its cover. Relatable characters, and great pacing. Will be reading more by this author, including any follow-up story that includes, Jason.
