Korea: Tradition and Transformation : A History of the Korean People

Rate this book
Unlike most other Korean history books, this books covers all aspects of the history of the Korean people--their art, literature, religion and political, economic and social experiences from the ancient times to the present. It is noteworthy that, for the first time, the recent history and various aspects of national development of both North and South Korea are dealt with in this book.

This book will fill the need for a comprensive, up-to-date, single-volume Korean history which has existed for a long time.

If you want to know thousands of facts about Korea, this is your book. A very thorough and complete look at the history of Korea. VERY BORING. I learned a lot from this book, namely if I want to learn about a country I should first read about it in the encyclopedia. I can get a great deal of very useful information quickly without purchasing an expensive book. I also need to preview a book before I actually buy it to see if it has information or a format that is useful and interesting.

I'm not sure about this one. New World maize claimed to have been a crop in Bronze and Iron Age Korea makes me wary of the author's knowledge when it comes to the earliest periods, which is what I was interested in.
