When Slave Master Patro first laid eyes on the child’s ice-blue eyes, he knew he would be the most sought-after slave on the market. The fact that he didn’t seem to be able to talk was a minor frustration.
Canis couldn’t tolerate the collar though. It not only contained his body, it strangled his soul. When this turmoil turned dangerous, Patro agreed to free the boy, but there were conditions, conditions Canis couldn’t hope to meet, not if he wanted to be truly free.
I grew up a rancher's daughter hoping to inherit the ranch and run a riding school for city kids. However, my brother bought the ranch from our parents in order to avoid an inheritance tax, and I ended up joining the army, marrying my fisherman husband, and moving to the wilderness of Alaska where I raised two wonderful boys. One of them gave me an old laptop computer and now I'm a published author. Go figure.

And for those of you who keep inviting me - The only RPing I do is Dungeons & Dragons.
Join Canis, a young half-breed, half human half Wulven Clansman, as he learns who and what he is, and then tries to find a place for himself and his father's people.
What an exceptionally good book. The half breed wolf man/ human growing up and into his unique heritage was well told and his interactions with the Mother were perfectly done without excessive religious overtones. The world the author created was vivid and showed us instead of told us what it was made of. From learning swordsmanship to hunting and gaining gifts as Canis grew and traveled the story continued to hold my interest. Definite recommend from me.
I didn't really know where it was going most of the time, or at least the first half of the book but honestly I was just really happy with the ending. The world building was quite unique and so were the characters.
I finished Half-Breed, this 370-page book, in about two days. It is one of the best examples of character evolution and action that I have encountered. Canis is both fearless and fearful and equally convincing as both. The story is driven by compelling displays of showing as opposed to telling. The world in which it takes place is visual, detailed and easy to enter into. While there were a few snags that I overlooked, I had a real problem with the last 3-4% of the book. The ending didn't bring enough closure for me, and some important questions weren't answered. Even so, Canis will always remain a character I really enjoyed meeting. Half-Breed
This is a good read. If you like action and fantasy you will enjoy this ride. Canus, half wolf and his wolves, I love love wolves, rock through a world dominated by barbaric foes looking to repay a debt to a man who first enslaved Canus the child. A good ending, bloody and exciting ensues and everyone loves a happy ending, eh? Need another Canus novel. More wolf, less man.
