When I first read The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden I fell in love with Jessica Sorensen’s books. It was the book that made her a go to author of mine. I loved Callie, I loved Kayden, but my most favorite character in that book was probably Seth. So when I heard we were getting Seth & Greyson’s story, I was stoked.

As a college freshman, Seth takes Callie under his wing. He can tell she needs a friend; someone to help her come out of her shell. And helping her gets his mind off the messed up things that have happened to him. After a terrible experience at home, he’s terrified to start dating another guy. He’s content being alone right now. Then Greyson comes along and changes everything for him.

Greyson is sweet, he’s funny and he’s an all around good guy. Seth likes him a lot. He’s just not sure if he’s ready to open up to him. Callie is the only one who know’s his story. He’s not sure if he can trust. He’s not sure if he can handle loving someone else and getting broken.

Seth is so funny and snarky on the outside. He’s a loyal friend and great guy. But he’s been damaged. He keeps a lot in and doesn’t let many people see what’s really inside.

Greyson knows Seth has been hurt and he doesn’t push him to open up before he’s ready. He doesn’t try to move too fast. He’s falling for Seth and willing to go at his pace.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this book. I think I loved it so much because I felt so connected to the characters before I even started reading. This is the 7th book in this series and they’ve had some sort of part in each story. I really wish we would have gotten more with these two. That it would have been a little longer. That’s my biggest complaint. Still, I am glad I got to find out more about Seth’s story from him. To see him grow and learn to love and trust. This is a must for fans of this series!

If you have been following the Coincidence Series then you know Seth as Callie’s best friend. I fell in love with Seth a long time ago, so when I saw his story was finally being written I was excited to start it. He has always stood out to me and been such a special character.

We first met him when he befriended Callie and really helped change her life. Then to learn about his own issues and know how selfless he is it’s hard not to love Seth. Seth and Greyson explores that first year they met in more detail, since when we originally met Seth and Greyson they were secondary characters.

Seth is closed off and wants to protect himself after his last relationship. He doesn’t trust easily and is afraid of opening himself back up to more heartache. When you meet Greyson he appears the opposite of Seth. He is fun loving, athletic and sweet. Despite appearances both Seth and Greyson are damaged, but deal with things differently.

The main difference is Greyson is ready to fall for Seth and he wants Seth to open up to him. I love how Greyson was patience with Seth and looked out for his best interest. He wanted him to feel safe and secure.

This book is definitely for fans of the series and cannot be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed this story and seeing more of some of my favorite characters. However, I naturally wanted more. I felt like some of the story was repetitive, which I don’t mind, but would have rather had new scenes or more with just these two. I definitely recommend for Coincidence lovers.

This just wasn't working for me. This is not the first time this author's book hasn't worked for me, but I think it will be my last. It's been a long time (probably a couple years) since I last tried reading a book of hers, and I was intrigued by the premise in this one so I gave it a try. Unfortunately, this was kind of dull to me. Plus, it felt like a M/F book with male names. I just don't think this author's writing style is my cuppa.

★★★ 3 Stars ★★★

I would recommend this to die hard fans of Jessica Sorensen, this short novel takes us to when Seth first goes to college and befriends Callie, who we know and love from The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden.

We get to see how he met Greyson, and how he felt despite his horrific experience with his ex boyfriend back in his hometown.

Seth was a fun character but underneath his confident exterior, he was very inexperienced with men, and mistrustful. Greyson was very sweet, and I enjoyed reading about his hippy parents.

I think if you are not familiar with this series, you'd be lost as there are a lot of details missing regarding Seth and his background. Plus, it was VERY YA. No sex whatsover. Lots of kissing Xx

There wasn't much to this story, but a nice companion novel to the rest of the series.

Told in dual POV, I would not recommend reading this as a standalone.

ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

*snief*

As a fan of Jessica Sorensen and someone who has read some of the other books in this series, I enjoyed this one. It was great to see Callie, Kayden and Luke again.

If you are an avid M/M reader looking for your next book, I think you will be disappointed. Yes this can be read as a standalone. Even though both Seth and Greyson are in college, it's very YA. Both are inexperienced. There's a lot of kissing. Anything beyond that was fade to black.

(and there's no way this book is 300 pages, more like 150)

I really love the characters and I really love this author, but I was disappointed. It was too short and too rushed and missing that build up and emotional connection that Jessica Sorensen always creates. I hope that she will write more M/M and give the characters a full length novel.

It has been years since I read and enjoyed The Coincidence series. Seth & Greyson could have been my first gay romance but by now I have read a few.

I enjoyed the story of Seth and Greyson, how they met and how they got together. But I had one problem with the story: I mixed up the perspectives and the guys throughout the whole book. I don't know if it was me or if there was something in the writing which made it hard to differentiate the views.
Compared to the other mm romances I have read so far, the book is very tame but I loved the two boys together and how they discovered each other.

Jessica Sorensen's writing style was fast-paced and enjoyable as usual.

So again I don't really feel like writing a long review so its going to be shorter and at some point I might want to add on.

Seth and Greyson was a good book. It was a little different from what I expected but it was very good. It basically filled in all of the missing links throughout the other books where I was wondering what was happening about Seth, who was one of my favorite characters. It was good to see his life while Callie's and Kayden's went on. I love Greyson even more after reading this since he was mentioned only briefly in the beginning book and a little bit more after. This book had a lot less drama than I thought it would with Seth's past but then again I think its because it was told in the past books with Callie and Kayden. I really liked it and I'm glad that they were worked through their problems. The only thing that I though was a little unrealistic throughout the series was how a whole group of 5 people (Violet, Luke, Kayden, Callie, and Seth) all knew each other and had some major problems in the past. Unless I just haven't had experience with that it seemed a little unlikely.

2.5 Disappointed stars for 'Seth and Greyson'

Alas, such high expectations, such a huge disappointment. I decided to cut the series short by overstepping Luke and Violet's books given all the angst in them and hoped for a safe landing with Seth and Greyson's story. What could possibly go wrong with the two characters I'd adored in all the previous books?

Apparently, a lot. I'll keep this short, so the gist of my displeasure about their story is that I barely recognized any of the two. Bubbly, hilarious Seth was reduced to a whiny sap and sweet, shy Greyson was instead the one with bold feelings and grand gestures. I felt cheated on, because I wanted to read about the Seth and the Greyson I'd always known and loved, not some other characters whose only resemblances to them were the names. Not cool.

Also, I've already found this complain in other reviews and at first I didn't get what they meant by saying: “It reads like a F/M novel rather than a M/M one”. Now I do understand. Seth's inner voice was that of a damsel in distress most of the book. And their relationship was always kind of unbalanced, with Greyson being the strong, leading one and Seth quivering in a corner. Reminded me a lot of Callie and Kayden at the beginning, or Micha and Ella. Seth was always supposed to be confident and self-assured. The one in the book was a poor excuse of the old Seth.

I was really excited at the thought of reading some M/M from Sorensen, given the fact that she's usually great at portraying psychological situations and interactions. That's what all her books are based upon, in fact. But here, I couldn't connect with their love story, especially at first. The clumsiness, the weirdness of Seth not really behaving like Seth. It was anticlimatic. Even the 'supposedly hot' parts were everything but hot. Or sweet, for that matter. A fade to black is everything we get to read. I'm not saying I wanted detailed descriptions of what happens second after second, but since in the previous books of the series that was never a problem, it left me wondering if the problem was about it being an M/M story.

As I said, the expectations made for a greater delusion.

The only reason I gave it 2.5 stars was Greyson's awesomeness when it came to dealing with Seth's issues and also because at the very end, things actually started to happen. So yeah, the last bits weren't that bad, even if their meaning and weight were diluted by the dry beginning of their relationship.

This is why I'm wary of the M/F authors starting to write M/M fiction. At best this result was lukewarm...half-hearted romance, awkward and stilted dialogues, bordering on cheesy... A couple of sweet-ish moments, but nothing genuinely warm, emotional, sexy...

Aside from the amateur-ish writing and uninspiring romance, I hated Callie being in the spotlight the whole time. WTH? It was all Callie this and Callie that...I liked Callie well enough in her books, but here I just wished she would piss off with her issues and stop cockblocking the guys. Grrr.

Overall, disappointing.

First off, I'm not familiar with Ms. Sorensen work. This is the only book of hers I read and it came very late in a series.

I actually like this book, with some notes!

- The title: why the heck the author couldn't give better title than mere Seth & Greyson? Seriously, that's the best she'd come up with?

- I mentioned earlier that this is part of series. And I'm assuming some of the scenes happened pararelly with the other (books) in the series, which made the one here not went into detail. Which means, as a reader of this sole book, I missed on some of supporting characters' stories (namely Callie's, Kayden's, and Luke's).

- I'm not sure if Seth's past incident with Braiden were also told in previous books in the series. But I felt that it wasn't described clearly here. The same also went for Seth's relationship with his mother. I'm not sure of his family economy background too. I mean, for a boy who got tossed out of his home (for being gay) Seth still lived comfortably in campus (he still had his car, he could buy anything he wanted and even bought plane tickets that he ended up not using without much fuss! Why do I zero-in on that? I guess I'm stickler to stuff like that).

So, there were loopholes! Which rather disturbed my overall enjoyment reading this story.

There are some upsides too, though!!
- For a new adult book, I felt all characters were real and they acted their age. This I find very refreshing after a number of know-it-all-yet-still-rather-stupid YA/NA characters I read lately. ;-)

- I love the slow building romance between Seth and Greyson; the rather awkward meeting to gradually being friend then more. The sex/make-out scenes were not explicit (not that there were many! :p) even somewhat awkward.

- No over the top drama! I'm not sure if all the angst and drama were spent in the other books of the series. I'm just happy I didn't find many teary scenes here.

So overall, yes this is rather sedate and slow pace story. But no less enjoyable to read.

12/03/2019: Reread it. Loved it. I fell in love with Seth and Greyson all over again.

Oh. My. Gosh.

The only problem I had with Seth Greyson was: it was too short.

Gosh, I was so ecstatic when I heard that Seth and Greyson were getting their own book. I mean, Seth was, like, my favourite character in The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. If it is possible, when I finally got it out from the library, I was even more ecstatic.

Then I read it and decided that I loved this book so much, I didn't want to give it back.

Seeing things from Seth's point of view was different: we get to see his more vulnerable side. We got to completely understand his story, to have a better grasp on how his feelings during the events of the first two books, as well as his past.

And it made me love him even more.

Then there is Greyson: so patient, so caring, so amazing. Gosh, I didn't realize how much I'd like him. Of course, I liked him before. He was very likeable.

I think I am kind of jealous: there is no one in real life—or at least I haven't met anyone like them yet—who is just so...amazing as these two. Geez, it actually makes me muse about it...

Anyway, I loved Seth and Greyson's story. As I said: I wish it was longer. Hopefully, in the future, we will get to hear about them, about Callie and Kayden, about Luke and Violet...

It was a sweet story but could have been so much more.

I must admit I have stopped reading this authors books. Each series just seems to drag on and on. I can't handle being spoon fed stories. But I HAD to find out about Seth & Greyson. Unfortunately this book contained maybe 2 tablespoons of info. I am guessing there will be a few more novellas about them...

I give up!!

This will be a little awkward as I didn't read the first, uh, six books before that one, and I don't really like her writing style, but oh well, let's try.

***

Cheeeesyyyy.

For some reason, I expected something extra cute and/or funny; I would be fine with either one. I have read one book by this author before and I didn't like it all too much, but I wanted to read this so badly, I let that little detail aside. I shouldn't have done that.

For one thing, the whole thing was dull. Seth is supposed to be this egotistical funny guy, but he was neither of those, except those times he tried too hard. Greyson is supposed to be this awkward guy, but he wasn't awkward at all. There is hardly any plot, any proper characterization maybe except the back stories, writing is boring; the whole thing left me disappointed. 1.5/5

This wasn't bad. I really enjoyed it, but felt it was a bit too muddled with all the interspersed "snippets" of Callie's and Kayden's issues. It also felt a bit simplistic. Sure, there was major issues and drama that Seth had to overcome, but I didn't get sucked into it. It felt glossed over. I haven't read anything else by this author so I don't know if that is just her style or if that is something that happened as a result of it being MM by a MF author. But I felt there should have been a bit more of something.

Not sure what the point to Seth & Greyson was, my impression of the whole book is brief. Lots of scenes are skimmed over - probably because there is a whole lot of Callie drama going on, and then when Seth is dealing with his terrible mother and the ex that beat him up it is just a couple of pages. I get the impression this is a book written by a dedicated M/F romance writer for readers that enjoy M/F. As a M/M story on its own it is a bit of a disappointment.

Please note this is not a stand alone, you at least have to have read the first book with Callie and Kayden.

Nice cover, because it's two guys!

And I have a weak spot for gay guys! *cough*
