The Ex Factor

Rate this book
Once half of the most powerful ‘it’ couple in Hollywood, actress Susan Ainsley is tired of shallow guys or men who only want to bask in her spotlight. When her ex can’t seem to stop trashing their relationship even though he’s remarried, she looks to Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service to help her find a real partner.

Susan has starred in director Jared Thornwell’s dreams for years. But after divorcing her cardboard husband, it seems she’s out on the town with a new guy every other week. Jared wants nothing more than to be the man who fulfills her dreams too, but even with Madame Eve’s help, does he stand a chance with her for longer than one night?

Hearts on Fire Review

Original Review Published here: http://heartsonfirereviews.com/?p=25725

The Ex Factor is by Cate Masters and part of the 1NightStand series. 1NightStand series is a series that is written by several authors about a mysterious woman who sets up one night stands that end up with the couple having a happily ever after.

Susan Ainsley was once part of a powerful ‘it’ couple in Hollywood but now only has guys wanting to bask in fame for a few minutes. Susan is a strong and talented woman who wants what we all want. She wants her happily ever after.

Jared Thornwell is a director in Hollywood who has lusted after Susan for years. He has watched her date man after man and growing increasing increasingly frustrated. Therefore, he approaches Madame Eve to help fulfill his wish.

I found this book very well written with interesting and engaging characters. The only problem I really had with the story was it was way too short. I would have liked several more pages to flush the story out more. At 43 pages, this was a good story.

This book has a great story-line and it's well-written too.. I love reading short books or series but this was way to short for me.. it was like wham bam thank you i hate saying that but its true.. it needed more about the new couple at the end of the book but nothing there..sorry

Normally I am a great fan of the 1Night Stand series novellas. The fact that they are short very rarely impacts the quality of the story itself. However that is not the case here. What began with a promising premise fell short in the author’s effort to tell the story as quickly as possible. It felt rushed and as if I were reading it on fast forward. The characters were likeable and I would have preferred to read more about them and see a relationship form between them. Instead we go from her hating her ex husband and needing a “real” man to sleeping with her not so blind date on the first date in a public place and having forever thoughts. There was no real chemistry between the characters. It felt very much like a one night stand not a romance.

This is more of a 2.5. I liked the story and it is well written, but the biggest problem I have with it is this. If it's a story about a Hollywood actress and director, why on earth do they not know that it is Ingrid Bergman who stars in Casablanca and not Lauren Bacall? Now, if the author actually has a copy of Casablanca with Lauren Bacall in it then she's the only person in the world that does. She can make a lot of money with that version!
