Charmaine Vella has never believed in destined mates between Lycans until she found her own mate in Parker Kreuger. The only problem? The Vella and Kreuger packs have hated each other for centuries and old wounds are the hardest to heal. To make matters worse, by choosing Parker, Charmaine has alienated her childhood best friend Scottie, whose sullen mood has only darkened with each passing day.
As Charmaine adjusts to her new life with Parker, she'll find that things have become anything but simple. All she wants is to spend her days with Parker and raise the family they're building, but it is precisely her relationship with Parker that is generating whispers of renewed conflicts and threatening to shatter the fragile peace between their packs and she must stand by her Mate's side to help him rein in the wilder members of his pack.
When an unimaginable disaster strikes, Charmaine and Parker find themselves facing an adversity they never thought they'd face and must draw strength from each other. But will it be enough to keep them--all of them--safe?
Parker did everything backwards. Charmaine getting pregnant before the elder could officially say they were truly mates. then getting married in Vegas, so they could go out in public with each other. Charmaine being blackmail by her brother Christopher, in choosing Parker or her family, she choose Parker her husband. And Charmaine and her mother have a very long talk about her father and what her brother Christopher has done to her.
total rating of 2.5. The biggest issue with the book is proofreading and editing. Toward the middle of the book one if the paragraphs was repeated twice, there were some missing words and a lot of his/he when it should have been her/she.
The male lead Parker is totally worth it but the female lead Char is full of potential but only came off needy, a big cry baby and totally weak. I thought as the books progressed that her character would progress as well. Never happened. Never really got to the angst, never really got to know the bad guys and never got to see the female lead come into her own.
The books keep getting better! I'm so ready to read book 3!!! Ugh! Need more Parker and Charmaine! I love Parker's dad! I can't stand Christopher! And Jameson is a sneaky prick! I Need book 3! I seriously recommend this series! Been a great read so far!
