The idea and story were fantastic. The main plot turns took me by surprise so I don't want to give to much away, except to say the characters are a sadistic killer, his mother, the detective and a profiler. It was fast paced and suspense was built up as the book raced towards the inevitable showdown between detective and killer.
I have also read some of this author's poetry which led me to read the book. The author has some great ideas and insights into human nature and I think potentially could become a very good writer.
I didn't rate the book 4 stars primarily because I felt some areas were too rushed. I would have preferred things like the relationship between Harrison and Charlotte to have developed at a slower rate and generally more building of characters. There were also some occasions where there was too much telling and not enough showing.
Overall I enjoyed the book and would certainly read another by the same author.
