an ABO danmei with great characters and plot. i love the pacing of the story that’s not too fast nor too slow, but personally it doesn’t left much impression on me. i got kinda bored on chapter 100-ish, though i still enjoyed it and finish it eventually
A very fun read! I immediately fell in love with Fu Xiaoyu, the author wrote him very well. This novel was more emotions focused and the way it was written never made me feel bored. The way the characters dealt with their flaws and the difference between the relationships at the start and the end of the book was really satisfying.
This is definitely in my top five of this years' reads, and cannot be recced enough if you are a fan of well-written Omegaverse that isn't cheesy/cliche/rape-esque that we are often given with this particular subgenre.
Things I loved: The MC quickly became my favorite character in the whole series, which was a big surprise because I'm not often a fan of how Omegas are written in a/b/o series. This Omega goes through so much character development that -honestly- I felt the ML was not enough for him/didn't grovel enough to the MC. The MC starts off portrayed through the eyes of the ML and through him we are given very one-dimensional analysis of a cold, aloof gold-digging Omega, someone who would be fun to sleep with once but not much more. Obviously, the Alpha is very wrong about the Omega, and seeing this journey of the MC and ML revealing aspects of their life to each other is very satisfying.
Thoughts about the ML/Alpha - everyone always describes him as a green flag but I feel this is very inaccurate. He starts off being recently divorced who is convinced his ex is just throwing a tantrum and will eventually come back once he becomes jealous of not having the Alpha's affection. In addition, he psychoanalyzes the MC which thus ends in them falling into bed with each other, which I didn't really like. The ML's personality is a bit trash but by the end he's definitely better.
First and foremost, omegaverse novels are my favourite so I may be biased with my review. The novel touched almost all the things I like in a plot but even so, I will try my best to stand on a neutral ground to be fair.
The novel has been on my to-be-read list for quite some time. I first started learning of its existence while browsing through an audio drama app. It was later taken down from the app and its name once again reminded me of it. I was familiar with the title when a friend recommended it to me, so I decided to finally give it a read. As usual, I read the novel blind.
Divorce topic always piqued my interest because I have never thought of “divorce” in real life. So it was immediately a plus to me from the start when the author mentioned divorce in the first few chapters. It wasn’t a divorce with the MC but nevertheless, I got hooked by it. What was unexpected to me was that the ML had a son. The author didn’t explain it clearly at first, so I was wondering who “Nan Yi” was or if it was the name of a pet or something. And finding out it was his kid came as a shock to me.
I read the English fan translation, and if the translator’s rendition is accurate, the author’s level of detail in writing was impressive. For kisses, authors would usually write it off as “inexperienced”, yet the author made use of metaphors to describe his innocent act and I truly love it. The same goes for the smut as well. The smuts were so detailed, hot, wild, and sensual all at the same time. They were like a dog and a cat fighting on the bed. Reading the smut made me realize I’m a sucker for teasings and forced submission. Haha. It was an enjoyable read. Do take note that alpha in this omegaverse novel doesn’t experience a rut so don’t expect any of it.
Scenes with secondhand embarrassment were mostly the ones I couldn’t take. Not in a negative way but more because of the intense embarrassment. I had to read those parts with a hand covering my face and peeping through the gaps of my fingers. I felt genuine embarrassment as if I were the character himself.
As for the plot, the author wrote the plot in a very typical way. Divorcee meet someone new, get together, experience instabilities in their relationship, wife-chasing crematorium, and then of course, happily ever after.
What made the novel stand out from other omegaverse novels I have read was the peculiarity of the characters’ personalities as compared to the usual abo. I was surprised by how out of character some of the MC’s actions were in the story. His bizarre personality switch made me experience how the ML felt as he observed the MC. An interesting and unique omega, indeed.
Most omegaverse novels label omegas as weak and needing to be protected, but this novel depicts otherwise. The alpha in the novel wasn’t much like your typical alpha as well. An alpha that was willing to show his weaknesses and bare it all out was something most alpha considers as “shameful”, yet it came naturally to him.
But what truly made me love this novel so much was the in-depth understanding of the characters’ personalities. The author broke down details of her character development notes into her writing, showing the readers their persona transparently. The character development flowed smoothly, although some of their actions were explained later on instead of in the moment; but it all made sense afterward. Their interactions were so cute and amusing, that I couldn’t stop reading. They were characters in a novel yet I truly felt their joy and happiness. I felt delighted to see them both attain the life I had expected them to have.
The ending was truly satisfying to me, and the extras were a great bonus as well. I couldn’t find the novel on Goodreads listing but if I could, I would definitely rate this 5 stars. Totally recommend giving this a read!
I don't read a lot of ABO stories, but I was in the mood for one so I picked this up. It was okay, but I thought parts of it were overdone on the angst and was super frustrated with the ML at one point, so all of that took away from my enjoyment. I also prefer stories where kids don't play a big part of the plot, and that's definitely the case here with the ML's son from his previous marriage, so that was an unexpected surprise. I wouldn't have read the story if I had known about the kid.
The story follows our MC, an omega with A-class pheromones called Fu Xiaoyu. At the beginning of the story, he's pretty depressed because his crush of many years got back together with his white moonlight and dropped FXY, despite everything FXY has done for him and his company in the last couple years and being recognized by his crush's father as his omega partner. He throws himself into his work to take his mind off his failed romance, where he interacts more with our ML, Xu Jiale, an alpha graduate student who was brought into the company as an external consultant.
Their relationship doesn't start off on a great note and they even admit openly that they dislike each other, but that changes one night when, surprise surprise, something triggers a super intense version of Fu Xiaoyu's heat and he asks Xu Jiale for help. Even though they agree that they would go back to a strictly professional relationship afterwards, Fu Xiaoyu starts developing feelings for Xu Jiale, since the latter treated him so well during the intense heat cycle.
Thus Fu Xiaoyu starts chasing after Xu Jiale, and it's not long before they get together and their relationship becomes sweet for a while. Of course, they get together about halfway through the story, so the author throws in a lot more drama and angst. There's a lot of things they need to work through before their happily ever after ending. They get there eventually, and most of the extras focus on their married lives together as they try to get pregnant and succeed.
I can't say I was a huge fan of either Fu Xiaoyu or Xu Jiale. FXY is very much a dominant type A personality, which is completely at odds with the typical omega stereotype. He's the stereotypical cold CEO of his company and holds all of the employees to very high standards. I wouldn't want to work under this kind of guy.
However, that makes it all the sweeter when you see him lower his walls and act clingy and cute with Xu Jiale. He experiences some character growth, as in his childhood he was always managed strictly by his own father and didn't experience many normal things. Even his first time sleeping with someone is with the ML, since his dad had always taught him to save himself for marriage. After getting together with Xu Jiale, he becomes more comfortable in his own skin and exploring his body, which is nice to see.
Xu Jiale treats Fu Xiaoyu really well for the most part, but there's one thing he does that I can't forgive, so my opinion of him really tanked after that incident. Fu Xiao eventually forgives him after he does some pretty ridiculous things to win him back, but I haven't forgiven Xu Jiale yet. Just because he wants to treat his son well doesn't mean he has to sacrifice his own happiness and make Fu Xiaoyu suffer in the meantime. Those chapters were really hard to get through.
Anyways, it was an okay read. The story wasn't particularly interesting imo, but I kept reading cause I was mildly curious where the author wanted to take the story. And the smut was good.

➴ i'll start of with the tags, i guess. this is an omegaverse; it has mpreg, marking, pheromones, and the like. one of my favorite aspects about this story is the MCs dynamics. i love a lowkey depressed & divorced alpha x young, career-driven, and bold omega !! 😸 it's not that often we see these kinds of characteristics for an alpha and an omega. i also enjoyed the storytelling. although some parts were a bit bumpy, i feel like the author & translator did a great job in describing the scenes & building the personalities of each character ૮(˶ᵔᵕᵔ˶)ა
➴ this is actually my first time committing to a danmei—particularly with this length—and i could say that i'm glad this was my first one 🫶 i immediately got hooked after reading after a few chapters because of how psychologically-inclined the writing was. i think this author's in the field 😹 i would like to also mention how i initially thought this would be slow burn, but we already got smut within just 25 chapters LMAO not that i'm complaining ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ◍)
➴ even though i did thoroughly enjoy it, i still have some complaints with how fast paced their love progressed. i felt like the love xu jiale had for fu xiaoyu was still a bit shallow during the time they got back together 😅 i know he already felt like he was only holding on because he wanted a family during his marriage with jin chu, but i still think that the growth of their relationship after reuniting should've been cultivated even more 🤗
➴ lastly, i was sooo icked with fu xiaoyu's dad (𖦹﹏𖦹;) i know he became more gentle, but he was so fucking annoying 'til the end... also, the overuse of fat jokes (even though i know it was out of affection) was quite icky as well 👩🦯 i guess that's just "normalized" chinese humor. nonetheless, i still think this was a good danmei ^^ it's good to the point of actually dragging me out of my reading slump 😁
A Divorcee Alpha meets Young CEO Omega, Their first encounter may not be so great, leads to them to not fond of each other company, they have different principle and lifestyle, a complete polar opposite but who will know that after spending times together more, working together more makes them getting close and eventually catching feeling
I'm so overwhelmed I see myself in fu xiaoyu, but less capable. So when I read how xu jiale treat him, I can't help myself wanting my own xu jiale
There's many green flag and favorite gongs I've read so far, they make a great mentor, boyfriend, life partner, soulmate, bestrfiend
But xu jiale is so husband. He is the one that I can say "marriage isn't scary if you married xu jiale" he was painted as soo human that it makes me imagine, there's someone like this available in real life, for me.
Also spoiler: Mpreg life, I mean most of time we just know them pregnant then give birth. But this book really elaborate the pregnancy life that would make you love ML more and more
Also MC is smart smart, he is not afraid showing emotion, and initiate first move, these two are the epitome ✨ communication✨

So this was recommended for the divorced ML aspect, which I actually did enjoy. There's also a dominant Omega trope in here, which I haven't encountered as much but also enjoyed. The side characters did rub me the wrong way, and some of the plot didn't really make sense to me but I also didn't read the first novel. I didn't really connect with any of the characters though, and I almost dropped this about 70% of the way through. I'm really glad I didn't, because then it got into what I consider the best part of the novel (and a new favorite trope), the groveling. But overall, this was fine.

Sequel of last love . I totally loved this couple from that book and felt happy when I found out there was another whole book for them . And really enjoyed reading it. Bonus - I now love the author too since his/her writing style for emotional and psychological descriptions are on point and the readers can sympathize along with the characters. Recommendations for both books :)
2.5 ⭐️. The first half starts out so strong but once the breakup arc started everything started going downhill. It all crashed and burned and there was nothing to really redeem it for me. There was too much yet nothing happening or significant all at the same time. Idk what happened but the first 50-60% keeps it at not quite 3 stars
okay I’ve finished this agony and it SUCKED idk why I didn’t drop it ngl it got kinda, just a little bit, better by the end but the sex was always cringe or borderline rape the terminology was cringy and the story itself gave nothing burger. ⭐️/5
An okay book! Definitely dragged on in some parts and especially at the end like…wrap it up. But overall okay, nothing too special and nothing I absolutely hated.
Ehhh idk why this got recommended to me as a deep emotional read, I can tell you it is many things except that. Don't like the characters, didn't appreciate their dynamics nor the development of the story. Not for me at all.
