From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Mara Jacobs. I could tell you my name, but then I’d have to kill you. Forced to live in seclusion, my only contact with the outside world is with my online chat buddies. I give out different screen names with every person except with Confessor. To him, and only him, my name is Blackbird. He is my soul mate. At least online. I make a living buying and selling used computers. Usually I can just ignore the stuff that’s left on the machine by the previous owner, but the desktop picture on my newest acquisition stops me cold. It’s the face of the man who killed my father twenty years ago. The man who sent me into hiding. The first time, anyway. I start digging through the machine, telling Confessor about my every move. Except the part about wanting to avenge my father’s murder. A dead body gives me the perfect excuse to leave my nest and head to Tennessee, to find the murderer, and to reclaim my life. Once there, I find myself torn between two men, and pining for my mysterious Confessor. And just when I think I’ve got things solved, my past is revealed, throwing my plans of vengeance into chaos.
Mara Jacobs is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Worth series.
After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in advertising, Mara spent several years working at daily newspapers in advertising sales and production. This certainly prepared her for the world of deadlines!
She writes mysteries with romance, thrillers with romance, and romances with…well, you get it.
Forever a Yooper (someone who hails from Michigan's glorious Upper Peninsula), Mara now splits her time between the U.P. and Las Vegas.
This book was utterly fantastic! The storyline was so addictive and just when you think you know.......BAM the author changes direction while having you still think you're right. And the ending.........just wow
I was searching for something other than romance to read and stumbled upon this book. Mara Jacobs did not disappoint! Every time I thought I had figured out who did it, there was another turn. Hold on and have fun with this read!
OMG after months on pending status, I've finally finished this book. This's really intense & serious so I needed to focus when I decided to continue reading this one. This's soo good, the best mystery romance I've read, well I haven't read that many but yeah I loved this one, love the characters, plot, and the writing style! I also felt entertained reading the chats interaction between this isolated girl with confesor & any other chatters -even eatmeee LOL XD Oh I just realized it's marked as '#1' sooo yay there will be more????!!! I wish we'll be given more about her ex husband -the agent who was supposed to kill her because Will mentioned he's still alive
Look out Evanovich here comes Jacobs! I was happy to find this suspense/mystery title by one of my favorite authors, Mara Jacobs. I wouldn't have guessed that a main character who sits around in her sweatpants and rehabs computers could provide an edge-of-your-seat ride, but she does. I couldn't put this one down.
I'm not a big romance fan, and Jacobs is known for romance titles, but don't let that stop you from picking this book up....or any of her titles for that matter. Great character development, quirky quotes and great suspense make all of her books worth the read.
What a great story! I couldn't put it down. In her debut book, Mara Jacobs presents a compelling story of obsession and intrigue. Blackbird is forced to live in seclusion but the reader gets the impression she likes it there just fine--until she has to leave the nest. Her isolation is tangible. The twists and turns in this book were quite surprising. I will definitely watch for the next book in the series--along with the rest of Jacobs' books. Mara Jacobs is an author to watch.
It took me a long time to really get into this book. The first half was a little slow (for me) but once it picked up, man I couldn't put it down! A lot of twists, a few I figured out, but a few I didn't. I really enjoyed this one! Goodreads says that this is Book 1 (although this was published in 2012, so maybe not?), but while there is definitely room to keep growing with Blackbird & Confessor, it's not a cliffhanger.
REALLY GOOD BOOK. RAVEN WAS ISOLATED DUE TO HER EX TRYING TO KILL HER. DURING THIS TIME SHE WORKED ON OLD COMPUTERS AND FOUND ONE THAT HAD A LOT TO DO WITH HER PAST THAT SHE COULD NOT LET GO. THE ONLY LIFE SHE HAD WAS ON COMPUTERS. THE CONFESSOR WAS WHO SHE TALKED TO ALL THE TIME. WHEN HE WAS EXPOSED I WAS SHOCKED BUT HAPPY.
