BLACK HORIZON

The most dangerous enemies are the unseen, and Mack Bolan's instincts are kicking in, alerting him to a horrific conspiracy so deep within the U.S. government that invisible spooks with unlimited power will never be held accountable for the atrocities they unleash. One conspiracy wrapped in another: an Armageddon group called Sons of Revelation, a man-made plague set to be released in south Florida, and rumors of terror imports from the home team. It's treason, betrayal of the highest order, an act of savagery that will not go unchallengedat whatever price Bolan may have to pay. Judgment Day is now, for patriots willing to sell out their nation for greed and twisted ambition.

This is a left wing novel for a right wing audience, which makes the book a bit odd.

There's a deep state plot to release a virus. Sounds very 2020, but this book was written in 2007, and there's some religious whackos involved.

Lots of shooting, so there's that.

One of the double-sized Bolan adventures from about 15 years ago. A lot of fun to read, with the bad guys dying in some truly horrific manners. One of the more interesting deaths was the Muslim terrorist who, after failing in his original mission, finally pushes the button on his suicide vest after being talked into it by a mysterious voice. Was it his guilty conscience or was it (say it in your best Dana Carvey voice) Satan?!

The tale starts with Mack being asked to look into the murder of two FBI agents. They had infiltrated what they thought was a militia group, but it turned out to be a cash grab by guys who were so deep in 'black-ops' that they weren't controlled by anyone, just pointed in one direction and then released.

I'll leave it there to avoid spoilers. The wrap up is typical Bolan, but still interesting to work through.

Recommended for fans of men's adventure tales, vigilante stories and Don Pendleton.

It was a good read, but totally different from the normal writing. A little slow and very descriptive. A little to deep feel for an enjoyable read. Had to really watch what you read.
