Emperor Wolf Mathison has given Feng permission to build a SCBI-equipped legion. Composed of ODT, Guard, and Fleet loyalists, they will follow the Emperor and Stathis in the fight against the vanhat… but is it too little, too late?
The vanhat are about to deploy their elite cohorts—millions of fierce warriors that have been sleeping in tombs, waiting for the call to battle. And they aren’t worried about SCBI-equipped troops, because they have sentient implants of their own.
Outnumbered thousands to one, the legion must defend Earth and the moon against the vanhat hordes, while yet another threat awakens to exterminate them all.
Reader, writer, martial artist, US Marine, Veteran, Squad Leader, Team Leader, Saw Gunner, Rifleman, Computer Consultant, Security Officer, Dungeon Master, world traveler, Computer Gamer, dreamer, realist, American and best of all Dad!
Growing up in Europe during the height of the cold war and then serving in a Marine SOC (Special Operations Capable) Battalion during the collapse of Communism provided a lot of life experience and a unique perspective on life and the world. The first novel he read was Jules Vern's 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea' when he was ten and has been reading ever since.
Before the Marines he was a pocket protector wearing nerd, after the Marines he held jobs as a Security officer/Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant and other odd specialized jobs like body guard or surveillance, and ended up brushing off the pocket protector to become a Computer Consultant.
These days he dreams of quitting his day job as a computer consultant to work full time as a writer and dad.
Mathison, Stathis, Skadi, Feng and others are interesting characters, and many of the authors quotes and comments about governments, militaries, etc. ring a bell with my own views. Despite serving in the army and retiring from the air force, I thoroughly enjoy his take on how our services interact, generally bad mouth the others but ultimately recognize and honor the skills and talents they bring to conflict. Will look forward to the next book.
Great continuation of the The Last Marines series.
We enjoy Stathis growing up as an officer, We have an emperor consolidating his power, We have Jotuns doing things which nobody considered, We have the Wanderer stumbling on mysteries upon mysteries. We have the Musashi (wondering what it is, read the book).
Stathis, Mathison, Winters, and Navidad can't catch a break. The vanhat launch a massive attack against the moon, unleashing aliens with their own SCBI's. There's plenty of action in this book. I'm looking forward to the next, when Mathison and Stathis are let loose and able to do what they do best: destroy aliens and protect humanity
How could you leave us hanging like that my brotha! 😭😭😭 This is one of the best series I've ever read. Stathis is my favorite character of all time, and you have created a lot of badass and loveable characters. Thank you, and please hurry 😂
This has been an outstanding series to read. I appreciate the authors, perspectives insights, and character development as a series is gone on. It’s gotten more and more exciting and interesting.
Interesting book, ties a lot together, but it's a little more enjoyable at beginning. Gets bogged down here and there. Will I continue reading...of course.
