Tales of Alus #6

Battle Mage: Dragon Mage

Rate this book
Hidden in the Dragon Spine Mountains, live dragons and gargoyles. Known to the men of the north, the two races live in harmony with one another and the humans that choose to live among them. Most humans who come to Mar’kal are wizards coming in search of knowledge. One of the schools unique to their Academy of Magic is Dragon Magic.
Cheleya is a che’ther, or land dragon in the common tongue. Transformed into her human form, she can fly like a gargoyle and breathe fire like a legendary dragon. A fun loving dragon mage, her world is turned upside down when she is cursed to remain human and blamed for the theft of dangerous artifacts from her school. Her magic blocked, the girl is thrown to her death, but narrowly escapes using the last of her magical power.
On the run with only her friend Kel’lor, a gargoyle, to protect her and stripped of her magic. Cheleya flees to the south and the lands of men looking for a cure to the curse on the dragoness. Pursued by agents of her betrayer, the two fight werewolves and killer shrikes looking for help.
Will they ever be able return home and clear their names?

At first, the introduction of a new cast seemed a bit abrupt. However, the book introduced new interesting characters, one new style of magic, and one component of the dark emperor's plan to render Southwall's defence useless. As such, it added to the overall worldbuilding and a treat to read.

Firstly I must say that I have enjoyed this series thus far, it is one of my favorite series. Though this book lives up to the previous three I must say that I hope the next books will have Sebastian as their protagonist. I hope to read the fifth book soon.
