Another enjoyable tale in the Rainbow Magic series that my daughter and I shared together. We both adore this series and Jack Frost and his goblins were yet again up to mischief in this book. Roxie the Baking Fairy needs help to stop the day being ruined and as always Rachel and Kirsty are on hand to do what needs to be done to try to save the day.

I want to start off by saying that this is one of my favourite Rainbow Magic book covers in a while! I just think that the bluey-lilac and the purple hearts and stars compliment Roxie’s design so well. And Roxie’s design is so cute! I love her hair, her dress with the bolero is already perfect but then you look a little closer and realize that there are sprinkles on it, and even the way her wings were given sharper edges makes them resemble cookie cutters.

Coming to the book itself - I really liked it! I thought Roxie was a really fun fairy and overall, this felt like a great conclusion to the series. I know I’ve only read 3/7 of the books in this series, but given that this is the last one, I do feel confident in saying that this series has done a really great job of tying in the events of previous books beyond just listing the names of all the fairies they’ve helped so far. Rather than do that, they’ll bring up the writing workshop from Libby’s book or the painting that Kirsty made in another book. Or like how they brought back the seagull from Josie’s book to help them out here too!

I think this book gave a series a pretty solid conclusion. First of all, Jack Frost entering all seven categories is honestly such a mood. Second of all, I liked how the resolution was basically the girls helping him realize that the point is to have fun being creative rather than to win. He even admitted to having fun this week and that painting was his favourite activity!
And I don’t know about other people, but I think it’s really sweet that the girls tied for second place! Also, “Rachel Under a Rainbow” was a fantastic title choice on Kirsty’s part. (Although I still think that naming the first-place winner of Rainspell Island’s Crafts Week Jenna Baker would’ve been much funnier than her actual name - Jenna Barker. I mean, she won with a cake.)

I also do look forward to seeing the stakes be raised just a little in some of these books, and this one did not disappoint! I mean, the goblins were about to drown and take Roxie’s magic cookie cutter down with them. It was so cartoony, but I honestly love when they do cartoony shit in these books, I’m so sorry, I fully laughed out loud during that one scene where Chef Ben slipped on a banana peel and caused all kinds of chaos. Also, I can’t believe they pulled a Ratatouille and had Roxie whisper instructions to Rachel and Kirsty in order to help them make all the baked goods, you really can’t make this shit up.

List of fairies mentioned because I’m a sucker for nostalgia bait:
-The Rainbow Fairies, who entered several paintings and drawings for the Crafts Week exhibition.
-The Fashion Fairies, who made pretty dresses. (duh!)
-Cherry the Cake Fairy and Coco the Cupcake Fairy working together to make baked goods. (And also all the other treat-related fairies helped, but Cherry won first place!)

Daisy Meadows and her fairies are my childhood. I collected so many in my youth, knowing all the fairies and their importance, and sticking with the two special girls who go to be a part of the magic.
Years ago I had to give my beautiful collection away, now still part of my childhood school where little girls are picking their favourite fairies and playing pretend. It's fun to hear stories from my old teachers telling me how over the years so many students have grabbed these books and fallen in love with the tales of two girls, Jack Frost and the fabulous glittering magic that is the fairies.
On Christmas last year, my sister surprised me with a boxset of these books, but cause you cannot collect these darlings as easily anymore. I was over the moon!
If anyone has a little one who needs a little magic in their life, wants to read and needs a big creation to be hooked on...it is Daisy Meadows!

When I was reading this series with my friends, I pulled out the whole series from the shelf which put 7 on top. Ngl, I started on this one and hadn't even realized until the very last pages that it was the last book in the series and not the first.
