I am a shameless romance addict with no intentions of ever kicking the habit. Growing up I dreamed of entertaining people and taking them on fantastical journeys with my acting abilities, until I came to the realization as a college sophomore that I had none to speak of. Another ten years would pass before I discovered a different means to accomplishing the same dream: writing stories of love and passion for addicts just like me.I have always loved romance stories and I try to tie all the elements I like about them into my writing.

I really enjoyed this audio from the author to the narrator both add so much with a lot of passion. There are many serious issues being dealt with that your heart goes out to so many of these characters. I thought this was written in a very touching, caring way that really was done with class. The author gives you a compelling story of a lady with a very checked past trying to outrun it when the lower class won’t let her she runs away so she doesn’t bring the fall out to her employers. You have a man who had a bad accident and in so much pain that he can hardly move who turns to drinking and drugs to help ease the pain. With a family who wants to support him but only sees he in a downward spiral. Everyone thinks the pain is in his head that if they can get in off the drugs and his drinking he will get better. From here we go through the steps to bring him around with the help of Emma hopefully he will get the help he needs to bring back the old loveable cowboy he use to be.

Ms. Gilbert does a wonderful job of narration from the passion she puts into the read to the powerful emotion she brings to it. She really hits each emotion right on the money giving the listener the full effect of how serious and important the issue is along with how each character is feeling with their pain, sorrow, loss, helplessness and the smiles you can hear in her voice. There are no background noises if any breaks were taken you could not tell. I really enjoyed her many different character voice from her deep rich male to her soft sexy female one. You have no trouble knowing who is talking and just what they are feeling. Listening to the narrator it was so easy to picture what they were going through as each character has their own feelings on Joseph problems. But what if they are wrong the narrator really bring in the powerful feeling and emotion of self doubt. Ms. Gilbert gives you a clear, clean, crisp audio that pulls you in as the characters take over giving you a story you can’t put down. I really love how her emotions show through her tones really giving the listener a compelling audio. I can’t wait to listen to more of her work.

Emma has been down the road that Joseph is going on she was hooked on drugs along with doing things she really didn’t want to when she was in need of a fix. She has finally gotten out of the life and is living a clean clear life. People from her old life isn’t willing to let her go so easy, then things get out of hand where she works she decides it is time to move on. There is a lot going on in this part of the story that really has the reader hooked to know the outcome. This is where things get really interesting when she goes to help Joseph get through his ordeal with some powerful emotions. Emma is such a sweet soul, she is kind and caring someone you would be proud to call a friend. You can see the ordeal she has went through to get clean and stay that way. This is one lady that deserves her HEA she went through enough it is time to see her smile, laugh and in love.

All the characters really grabs your heart touching it in ways you won’t believe. Out of all of them the one that really gets into your soul is Joseph. There is no way you can read this and not know how much pain and sorrow he is dealing with. I found myself really just wanting to reach him pull him out of the pages and really give him the TLC he needs to get all well. He is driven to an addiction to deal with the pain. There is little doubt he is in pain but is it from the accident or his need of more drugs and booze?

This is a book I couldn’t put down from the start the author pulls you in as she twist her way through each character and their issues. One man is down but it affects his whole family and how they deal with the issues. It is really just a powerful lovely romance. Watching these two work through the issues, leaning on the other and watching their budding romance just warms your heart. There might be a place or two that moves a little fast but it is a very short sweet listen that you are so totally hooked it seems to all work. I am not sure how I started with book 3 but I will sure have to go back and listen to the other ones in this series. I know I have made is seem all down but there is some wonderful humor here that will make you smile. You can really hear the smiles and laugher coming right off the pages. I really enjoyed this listen. It is truly a series you do not want to miss.

An Awesome Book!

I absolutely loved reading Counting on Love (Contemporary Cowboy Romance) (Carson Hill Ranch series: Book 3), all about Joseph Carson the third oldest son and Emma a lonely lost girl. Joseph took a nasty fall off of his horse during the cattle drive in book two, so nasty they took him away in an ambulance! He broke his collar bone and ribs punctured his lung and damaged his shoulder. Well it's been almost a year and he's still in so much pain he can't even stand up let alone move. The original doc said he's healed and took him off the pain med's because if he stayed on longer he would damage his liver. But he was using Carey's pain med's from when he was burned and cutting them in half and swallowing it down with alcohol just to knock him out so he wouldn't feel the pain. His brothers finally sat down with their dad and said he's in God awful pain we need to see a different doctor to find out what's going on. The author has written an amazing story that is all about the entire Carson family and it follows the family and each of the brothers thru the entire series, and each of the characters bring each of the books to life! So in this book it's about the help Joseph gets and the sweet girl that helps him along the way. Read this book, because it will make you laugh, cry, sigh and shake your head. Read this series because I guarantee you will fall in love with this entire amazing Gang. And so far book three has been the best, but you need to start at the beginning to understand what is going on. So please enjoy reading about the Carson Family.

By far the best story of the series thus far. The characterization is spot of. The storylines left nothing hanging. All the actions and reactions are supported.

Joseph and Emma, two hurting people attempting to get over devastating events in each of their lives. Joseph found his healing in great part in Emma. Emma has found someone who can live her for who she is now. I still feel Emma's vulnerability but the tide has turned.

Valerie Gilbert did another amazing job. She is so clear and brings it all to life. If I were to critique anything it would be pausing just a moment more when the is a time lapse or scene change.

I recieved a free Audible copy of this story in exchange for a honest review.

Joseph Carson, the twins younger brother, struggles to recover from a cattle drive riding accent, until Emma arrives to help, drawing on strength from her own life struggles, in this well performed audiobook.

I am pretty sure I have not read a book like this before. I love continuation from the previous books, but yet the new story. Characters were great and the storyline was fantastic.

Amelia Rose keeps this series coming with the next brother and a fresh new plot. This one brings us Joseph, who on the cattle ride was hurt badly. He is not healing well. Emma, one of the girls that Miranda had detoxed from the saloon in the first/second books befriends Joseph, both having things in common. They are pushed together as a perfect match. But will Joseph's injury be able to corrected and will Emma's past keep coming back to haunt her? I am not telling the result of this story, but I enjoyed their path. The weaving of the previous books into the story makes us feel at home with the Carsons and allows you to have the background necessary to understand what is happening, but it is best to read the books in order. This one was emotionally heart tugging, love Joseph and his journey back to ranch life and Emma's to life in general.

Valerie Gilbert continues to read us this saga. Love her narration of the story, and hope she continues with the rest of the story!

In book (1) we met Emma. A strung out prostitute from town who risked everything along with her friend DeeDee to warn Miranda that her ex was looking for her and was willing to kill her. Joseph is (one of the middle brothers) had an accident during the cattle drive in book (2). Now it is his turn. Joseph should be recovered and healed from his accident, but he man can barely walk and is in so much pain he tries to numb it with booze and pills. Now that Emma is clean, she needs to go somewhere and think about her next move in life because even though she has some great support and people in Hale who love her, she is having a hard time adjusting. She heads to the only place she feels in control, the small cabin on Carson Hill Ranch where she overcame her addiction. Before she can make it to the cabin, she is bombarded by well meaning Carson's and Joseph. She can't turn him or his family down when they ask for her help.

Counting on Love (Carson Hill Ranch #3)
by Amelia Rose

I really like the third book in this series. After an injury in an earlier book, Joseph is in extreme pain. Some of his family think he is faking to get out of work, and abuse pain killers and alcohol. Emma a recovering addict is trying to escape her past, but is willing to help. Enough twists to keep suspense readers happy and plenty of romance for others. I can't wait to see what fresh plots the author will come up with for the next book.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Valerie Gilbert gives the listener an exciting listen.

Joseph, the male lead, has a drinking problem, his family is worried and asks Emma for help.

Emma has her own share of problems but is willing to help. Joseph and Emma have several things in common.

Overall, I enjoyed this story as much as the others.

The author has well rounded deep main characters as well as the caring family members.

There are a few slightly emotional scenes as well a balance of sweet scenes, I look forward to more books by this author.

Valerie Gilbert did a good job with the narration.

It was nice to follow along as Carson Brother #2 actually spent time courting his love interest Amy. I was also glad that Emma's character didn't just fluff off her past behaviour in a "Tra-la-la everything's fine" way and that she (along with Joseph's support) was working towards getting over the mental hump. Though I feel a little bad all these Carson men are winding up with such emotionally damaged wives.

Book Three of Carson Hill Ranch series

Third oldest brother finding his perfect wife...even though she didn't believe she could be the one!! Life's struggles have taken a huge toll...and most of her hope. Joseph has had to beat incredible pain after an injury from a fall. Emma can't walk away from trying to help him, using her own painful experiences to do that. Now what can they do to help him heal from treatments and surgery? Well, they could fall in love...

Book 3 is about Emma and Joseph. Each book is focused on one of the Carson brothers and builds off the ones before it. These are sweet country romances that focus on the building of the relationship, not the physical part. I'm surprised by how much I enjoy this series, which I think is mainly in part because of the narrator. Valerie Gilbert does an amazing job bringing the characters to life and giving each character a unique Style. I cannot wait to start book 4.
