Five years ago, Tessa Marshall turned her back on everything she once knew. She left behind her friends and family hoping they would be better off without her in the way. Now, after being diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder (Multiple personality disorder) and determined to set her life straight, she is going back. She doesn't expect her best friend growing up, and the only man she has ever loved, to be waiting for her.
Charlie Mackenzie never knew the real reasons why Tessa left, but because of the promises he swore to keep, he feels responsible. He has spent the last 5 years fighting underground MMA, staying distracted, and trying not to chase after her and drag her back to him. Now that she is finally back, he won't allow her to push him away without knowing how he has felt about her all along. The only problem? He's not just dealing with Tessa anymore.
Tessa won't let herself be a burden to anyone and being with Charlie will only complicate his life, and hers, but she can't seem to shake him, and Benny, her friend from 'The Facility', isn't helping matters. Learning to live with not only the people around her, but the people in her head, isn't as simple as she thought it would be and Charlie is forcing her to abandon all of the control she thought she had.
The two of them must decide if their love is worth fighting for and Tess has to learn to just let go, because Charlie won't let her go.
I live in Morgan, Utah with my husband, beautiful daughter, and a couple of spoiled pups. If I'm not deeply involved in writing my next book, then I'm probably reading in the safety and quiet of my closet. I love yoga – which I now practice regularly – playing hide and seek with my daughter (only to have my hiding spots revealed by one of the pups), and I love Fruit by the Foot, Twizzlers and Peace Tea. These are great ways to bribe me into revealing secrets about what's to come.
I have an unhealthy obsession with Supernatural, The Walking Dead, and The Big Bang Theory. I also enjoy talking about them, so if you like them, too, come find me.
Writing has become an enormous part of my life and every book I write holds a special place in my heart. If you read one of my books, I hope you have the same experience.
Every One Of Me by Jessica Wilde is a book that really surprised me. While I loved her other books, The Brannock Series, part 1 and 2, this was something altogether different, and I really liked it a lot. I started reading it yesterday and could not put it down!
Tessa Marshall has suffered with multiple personality disorder for many years. Five years ago she just picked up and left without telling anybody she was going. When she did this she left behind a wonderful mother. a good brother, and her best friend through grammar school, and the only man she has ever loved, Charlie. Tessa left because she felt she was a burden to her family and did not want them to have to take care of her and she did not want to hurt Charlie, as she felt she would if she stayed.
Now that she has lived at a place called The Facility,a hospital for all types of mental disorders and realizes what is going on, and that this is going to be something she will have to deal with probably her whole life, she decides to finally go back home. At The Facility this she has met a wonderful person who quickly turns into her best friend- Benny, and they promise to keep in touch. Benny has really gotten to know Tessa and she understands what is going on and is scared for her friend, but she feels going home is better for Tessa, and she promises to visit her!
Going home proves to be more difficult than Tessa anticipates, and when she sees Charlie, she runs upstairs to hide out. Tessa soon finds out Charlie has been waiting for her to come back all these years, he went and even looked for her, and is really upset that the love of his life was gone, so to distance himself from all of this he gets into underground MMA and wins most of his fights and he just trains and trains.
While going to her appointment where her new Doctor puts her under hypnosis to draw out all of her other personalities, when Charlie comes with her, it becomes very apparent that Charlie is Tessa's anchor! What does this mean for Tessa and Charlie?
This book was really well written, and it moved along at a smooth pace. The plot was really good, there were a lot of moments filled with angst between some of the characters, and there was a lot of really well written dialog between all of the characters, which was downright comical at times! Considering the serious issues in this story the dialog rounded out the plot perfectly. While the subject of the book is a serious issue, the author handles it in a very dignified way.
Will Tessa and Charlie be able to have a somewhat normal life together, even though Tessa has 3 other personalities in her head that appear to everyone she loves in the blink of an eye? Will Charlie be able to take care of that little girl he met in grade school and protected all the way up to the day she left and now has returned? Will Benny, after visiting Tessa, decide to stick around to help Tessa, and be there for her, and for another issue that has developed in this plot?! You will have to read it to find out! Do yourself a favor and read this book, you will be glad you did!!
I gave this book 5 stars, because it deserves the 5 stars!
I loved this book. Charlie is now my fav book boyfriend. He is all hot and sweet and perfect. I never thought I would find a hero saying he loves all his girls sexy and romantic. But I think Charlie could blow his nose and it would be sexy. Then there is Tess and her alters. I love all of them too. I don't know any thing about multiple personalties and everything going on could of been voodoo medicine but I don't care. I loved Benny. She was the best crazy friend. Trevor was a great brother too. He might if been clueless for awhile but his heart was in the the right place. Their mom. Everyone should have a mother like her. I loved all the characters in this book. Some may say everyone was too perfect. Nope, but they were exactly what Tess needed.
Ok first thing first: why does the hero have to be a fighter? Does he have to be a fighter because it's the new trend in na novels? Couldn't he be an accountant? A lawyer? Secondly, I see the potential. Mental illness and disorders are sensitives topics and I'm glad that indie authors are not afraid to touch such delicate subjects. That being said, the book fell trough. Somehow, even the very original plot, there's wasn't a spark.
OMFG Who knew that Jessica Wilde could take a serious mental illness and turn it into a tragic, heartwarming, sexy story? She took a topic that has a huge stigma and made it personal. This is not my first Jessica Wilde book, but it is one of my favorites now!!
When Tess started having memory issues, she left town. Packed up and disappeared for 5 years with very little contact. Charlie never gave up on finding her though. As time went by, he became a bigger part of her family, waiting for the monthly postcard. When Tess is finally ready, she comes home to find that her worst fear and biggest hope came true. Charlie is waiting for her and he wants answers.
Cam is determined to protect Tess, even from herself. Cam tells it like it is and can be physically agressive. Lydia is softer than Cam, but not as serious as Tess. She is flirty and bubbly, yet cautious. All Lydia & Cam want is what is best for Tess and they aren't sure that Charlie is what is best. Benny is AWESOME! I think everyone should have a best friend like Benny. She is willing to call out Tess on her behavior and manipulate situations to make sure Tess gets her HEA. Too bad it's not up the all the girls. Only Charlie can make the choice. Can he really love all of Tess?
Ok...so I was lucky enough to win this book, which is something that usually never happens to me, needless to say I was super excited when it arrived. 'Every One of Me' is a great book about Tessa Marshall, who has been diagnosised with multiple personality disorder, and her journey not only to find a way to live with these other sides of herself, or alters, but to do so without hurting those that she loves. I really enjoyed the story, the plot was very well thought out, the characters were really enjoyable and relatable, and I was super happy to see that Tessa wasn't an, oh woo is me, type character. She copes very well with the cards life has dealt her and she is a strong character! Kuddos Jessica on book well developed and well written!!! You just hooked yourself a fan! I look forward to reading more of your work!
A great book and a beautiful and romantic love story. I Loved the support of friends and family in this story. An amazing perspective of the author. Congratulations and I hope you continue to write and share stories with such tremendous feelings and emotions.
4.5 Stars Have you ever had one of those moments where you are walking or driving and you get to your destination only to realize you don't remember anything about the trip? What about maybe having to much to drink one night and not remembering what you did? Or you're sitting at your desk working and you look at the clock to find you have spaced out for the last fifteen minutes? Okay, those things probably happen to most everyone at some point or another. What would you do though if you all of a sudden couldn't remember days, or sometimes, weeks at a time? And when you finally woke up from this "blackout", people tell you that you gave them the wrong name or that you weren't acting like yourself or they are upset because you can't remember something you did with them. It's kind of a scary thought.
In Every One of Me, Tessa gets so scared by all the things people tell her that she's done or said during her blackouts that she runs away from home at 18. Her mother, brother and best friend Charlie have no idea where she went, why she left or how long she'll be gone. After 4 years of moving from place to place and continuing to have blackouts, Tessa finally checks herself into a mental health facility in Massachusetts. With the help of doctors and her roommate Benny, she finally gets a diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder (multiple personalities). After almost a year in The Facility, as the patients call it, she decides it's time to return home to face her family. She returns to find her mother and brother to be very accepting of what has happened but also unsure of how to help her. Her friend Charlie rushes over as soon as Tessa's brother, Trevor, tells him that she's home. Charlie has been in love with Tessa for years and she has always felt more than friendship for him. Due to her blackouts though, their wires got crossed and now they have to get things back on track, which Charlie is ready to start right away.
This was a very interesting and different concept for a book. I'd never thought about how someone with multiple personalities would deal with each of the others. Do they know the others are there? Does the main personality remember anything from when they aren't "in charge"? Nor had I ever really thought about how someone with multiple personalities would have a relationship. How do the other personalities get along with the significant other? It was really beautiful to read how Charlie loves Tessa no matter how many personalities she has. Not only that but he wants the others to accept him and his love for Tessa and have their own (nonsexual) relationships with him. The only thing I felt was lacking was maybe a bit better understanding of how Tessa ended up with the disorder. On the whole, I loved the book and enjoyed every minute of it.
This was my first Jessica Wilde book. I was absolutely amazed by this book. It deserves way more than 5 stars. I never would have thought someone could take a story about a person with multiple personalities and turn it into the sweetest, most heart wrenching love story I've ever read.
Poor Tess has had a hard lift. Having what she thought was blackouts growing up to later learn she had other personalities within her. She spent five long years away from her family before finally returning. She didn't just leave her family when she left but also Charlie. The love of her life that also loved her, though she didn't know it. Charlie has won the Best Man award. Not many men would stick around and do what he did. This was true love through and through. The struggles he went through to keep her near, never giving up, because he loved her that much. One of the best love stories for 2014.
I picked up this book as the winning bid for a charity auction. Just from the synopsis, I was a little worried that it would be too emotional of a read for me. While the book was definitely emotional, it wasn't an ugly cry book like I was worried about.
It's a heart warming story about coming home, finding oneself, trust, and love. I've never really read a book quite like this before.
Tess is a strong character who deals with WAY more than most people deal with, in the most unconventional way.
Charlie is her best friend...and has been in love with her for the past fifteen years.
After a five year long self imposed (is that the correct word???) banishment from her family and friends, Tess has finally come home.
See how her family, and Charlie, deals with her quest to find herself again. Read the book and see why I liked it so much!
great love story. Charlie and Tess seem like they were made for each other. True love like theirs is hard to find.
Not sure why she is having memory losses, Tessa, flees her home and the man she secretly loves. After receiving a diagnosis and locating a doctor near her home she returns to her family, hoping that Charlie has moved on. Charlie has been looking and waiting for Tessa for five years, since the day she left. The love he has for her is swoon worthy. Love stories like Tessa and Charlie don’t happen often. The love he has for all of her is amazing. This story has some open ended issues, hopefully that means there will be a sequel.
This was a unique take on multiple personality disorder. A love story wrapped around a debilitating disease. Charlie has loved Tess since grade school. They were best friends, but Tess left for five years because of her illness. She didn't want to hurt her family. When she returns to help her mother he's bound and determined not to let her go. The plot is well developed giving you a look at possible positive outcomes. The author didn't gloss over the difficult stuff, the complicated stuff. I fell in love with how much he loved Tess and his determination to stay by her side. Awesome unique live story! Well done Jessica Wilde!
I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to feel about this book. I downloaded it and then It took me about a week to actually start reading it, when I did...omfg I'm in love with this book I can honestly say that it is my new favorite. There were parts to make me laugh cry scream and want to chuck my kindle out the window (luckily I didn't). I was scared to read it because I thoughf it would end up like a love triangle between Tess and her alters but luckily that never happened. That ending was amazing and I can't wait to read more from this author.
This was a beautiful story. This book is about Tess who had a few alter egos and Charlie who, loved her and all the other girls that came along with her. Charlie has loved Tess for over 15 years and she loved him that long too. They were best friends and were cautious because they weren't sure they could be better n a relationship and the threat to damage their friendship. But sometimes you just need to do what you need to do. Take a chance! This was a great story and I am so glad I came across it and read it. I highly recommend this book!!
I really do love finding a book that has a story I've never read before. Not the same Ole, same Ole. This was great. Charlie is hands down the most perfect guy EVER! His love and devotion was soul deep and never ending! Pure Perfection. This story reached me on a level I wasn't prepared for and thoroughly enjoyed the journey!
I was lucky enough to have won this book! Loved the characters in this book, really love Charlie and how is doesn't give up on Tess! Hoping the author writes more about the other characters would love to hear more about Benny and Trevor! Jessica Wilde is one of my new favorite authors!

I gave this book 5 stars, because it deserves the 5 stars!
Overall, the story was good. Realistically, it's a bit of a stretch, but, as a contemporary fiction, it's well-written.
DID is not an easy topic to write on, and even reading about it gives you whiplash. So I guess it's a given that this became an idealistic version of it. I did love the book, but only because I was reading it in a fictional way.
Being a Psych major, I know that people who suffer from DID feel so helpless considering they are battling against themselves (pun intended). It's hard enough to deal with your thoughts and get them into action alone. But to have different other personalities, you're bound to get crazy. So of course I was interested to read this book.
Tess is just coming back from 'The Facility' after 5 years of running away from her hometown, and the people she loves (and loves her- all of her). She's not deluded to think things will continue as they were, and she's willing to pick up the pieces and put herself altogether (again, pun intended). The least person she expects to welcome her with open arms is her best friend sine elementary school, Charlie. They are both in for a surprise none of them anticipated.
Tess is not the same carefree girl; she knows she's dangerous at times. It also shocked her to see that Charlie is no longer the scrawny guy he used to be. He found a distraction from finding her through underground fighting. While this occupation is entirely unnecessary, I digress because Charlie is definitely swoon-worthy. A guy who waits for the love of his life that patiently is always good.
Tess, Lydia, Camryn, Jessi. all of them are all amusing, but I think they didn't really deliver the real essence of becoming Tess' identity. But, Tess, Benny and Charlie's idea of how to get Tess to stay is funny and clever. And somehow, in this fictional world, it worked.
Given that this wasn't exactly strong in terms of accuracy in portraying DID. It lacked the point to determine where Tess' dissociation actually happened, and how each identities came and helped, which are the primary points of DID integration. Nonetheless, it somehow gives hope to those with this disorder that sometimes, medications aren't what is really needed, but patient people who loves you unconditionally, no matter how many identities you have.
I am left speechless! I'm not quite sure what took me so long to read this book. I've got hundreds on my TBR and books just get pushed back. BUT GAH I wish I wouldn't have waited for so long to read this one.
Tess, well she is flawed beyond her control and that is what made me fall in love with her. She started seeing signs something was wrong with her, but she didn't know what. So she ran. The only thing she thought she could do to save her family from heartache. Here we are some years later after trying to deal with being diagnosed with Dissociative identity disorder and trying to cope with it, she returns home. Expecting to just start fresh and try to move on. But you can't avoid the unavoidable.
Charlie, this man. I can't say enough wonderful things about this man. He is the perfect one for Tess. Heck even for her "alternate personalities". He is the one man that can help Tess along the way and help her deal with her condition. He is everything you want a man to be. Sexy, Caring, Kind, loving, and oh so much more. He shows Tess that she doesn't need to run and no matter what he loves her, all of her. He just has to get it through to Tess, that he can love every single one of her. I get it. I get the title and It is so fitting.
I really didn't know what to expect going in to reading this one. All I knew was Tess had multiple personalities. I've never read a book like this. It is so unique and deserves so much more attention. People don't touch on Mental illness very much and I get it. It is a hard subject to write and has to be done with much care to capture it in its true essence. I can't say enough positive things about this. The writing style was done so flawlessly. Not once did I get lost in the story. I got to know each character and their unique personalities, not only Tess' but all of them. Lydia, I absolutely loved her quirkiness. I ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RECOMMEND READING THIS.
Tessa tends to black out and remembers nothing. When she realizes that this is a huge problem she decides to seek help. Turns out she's got dissociative identity disorder. Now it's time for her to return home and face the boy from her past. She's going to have to explain why she left without telling him. Charles and Tess have been friends for a long time and he's the one who knew there was something more going on with her. Now that's she's back, he's not letting her go.
Could you imagine having multiple personalities and then suddenly you become your true self again and completely forget what you did? That's insane. I was really curious and interested in this one.
Tess had 2 other alters. Camryn and Lydia. Lydia is cool and seemed pretty laid back. Camryn was the out of control one. I would've loved to have some chapters in their POV. Tess doesn't remember anything when she switches to one of them so it would've been cool to get chapters of her as them. I think I would've gave 5 stars if that happened. We did experience the alters in Charlie's POV but I wanted to be inside the alters heads.
"Tess was mine, so all of them were mine."
Charlie was very patient and understanding. He handled all the alters very well. But when Jessi came into the picture I started to worry. She was a tough one. He never gave up on Tess and he helped her cope well with everything.
And can I talk about how much I loved Benny? Omg what an amazing awesome friend she was to Tessa. She's funny and had a great personality.
Jessica Wilde is a new author to me. I've never read anything by her. I saw this book awhile back on Amazon for free and grabbed it. It's been sitting on my kindle forever until a couple days ago when I decided to give it a read. The writing was great, the characters were interesting and I really enjoyed the storyline.
This story revolves around a serious mental illness. I just think that some parts could have been executed better and the switch in POVs between the two main characters happened to quickly. I am becoming less and less of a fan of dual POVs when it is hard to be able to recognize which point of view I am reading because the switch happens after only a few pages and the author's "voice" of both the male and female characters sound the same. It would have been better if we got Charlie's POV after a few chapters. Not every other chapter. I knew what each of the characters were thinking so I think it left me bored with little to no anticipation.
Charlie is wonderful. The readers will love him. Not sure how I felt about Tessa. I understand some of her actions were to protect the people she cared about but not telling people you are okay in the 5 years that are gone seemed a little selfish. I could not understand why Charlie wanted Tessa so badly so I lost my connection in the story at about the half-way mark.
Holy cow! This book was unlike anything I had ever read. I was so intrigued with the story line of a girl with DID trying attempting to have the love everyone dreamed of. I had formulated all the possible things that could happen with this kind of story line but what actually happened made for the perfect story. I do wish there was another one.. one that I can get to know the characters a little more and to see the process that happened between the final chapter and the epilogue, there I think it fell a little short after all the extensive doctor talk in the first half of the book. But I would definitely recommend this book. I found it very difficult to put down and enjoyed every minute of this story.
I received this book for an honest review. Every one of me is a book unlike any other I've ever read. I've read many books dealing with the subject of mental illness, everything with body dysmorphia to depression to eating disorders. I have never read anything dealing with multiple personalities. I feel that this book was respectful of that. I do feel that sometimes it was a bit overdone or exaggerated but overall it was a decent book with a unique plot.
Tessa is a lucky girl to have such a support system with her family and friends. Mental illness, no matter the kind, is a difficult thing to deal with and a difficult subject to read about, even with a romantic twist to it.
I was hesitant to read this because I wasn't sure what I would read about, but then it actually got me interested with the whole concept of DID.
However, while Tess and Charlie are rather cute, this romanticized the whole idea of DID. It's not a bad thing, making light out of that illness, but I think some parts of this story wouldn't happen in real life. I don't think you can get all personalities of a person with DID to fall in love with the same person. Or maybe you can. I don't know.
I'm just happy that Tess has Charlie, and that Benny and Trevor are together. Those two are adorable. I love Benny. I love Sarah. I love all of them except for Ellie (or Ellise? I already forgot hahah)
