Caught Looking, book two in Lisa Suzanne's Based Loaded baseball romance series, brought me right back into the thick of it with Danny and Alexis after that wicked cliffhanger in Scoring Position knocked me for a monster sized loop-de-loop. OMG- what a plot twist that was.

Seems like things are not going in the right direction for these star crossed, not quite lovers, at the moment. Alexis made some headlines that took Danny completely by surprise and I can't say I blame him for how he feels about it. One step up and one step back, in this 'will they or won't' they dance of forbidden attraction that's brewing between them. The slow burn is turning into a full- fledged boil every time they're together and caution has been thrown out the window.

Fame, manipulation, impulsive choices and not so well kept secrets are on a collision course, with Danny and Alexis in the crosshairs. Is there anything they can do to take control of their own destiny?

Only time, Lisa Suzanne and the next book will tell! Let's hope On Deck, book three in this incredibly twisty sports series in the Vegas Heat world, brings them closer to where they hope to be. Together forever, with no complications!

Hot for Danny and Alexis

We left off from the first book with Danny winning the World Series and things couldn’t get any better until his secret girlfriend gets engaged. Danny desperately doesn’t want to be the other man but his feelings for Alexis is just too much to ignore what is happening between the couple.

With stolen moments and so many secrets happening I was always waiting for the inevitable to happen. Just when things were maybe working out with Alexis spending time with Danny and his family for Thanksgiving, there comes a phone call which stops everything in its tracks!!

There's a lot to unpack in this one and I enjoyed every minute of it. First of all, I love Danny and Alexis as a couple. They need to figure out how to make this work because her father and Brooks are THE WORST. I love the friendship Danny has with Rush and Cooper. I love Danny's mom and sister. Good for Anna and Rush. I DEFINITELY want to read THAT story. I'm also loving Gregory helping Alexis and maybe digging Danny's mom. Getting to experience Alexis and Danny realize that they love each other and want more than just their careers has been a joy and this impatient reader needs them to find their way and save Alexis from this prison she's in. Love it and can't wait for more.

Danny and Alexis...ooh boy are these two absolutely addicting!

Caught Looking picks right back up where book one left off, and it did not slow down at all. I'm surprised that Danny and Alexis have been able to keep their relationship a secret for as long as they have (thank you, Gregory!), and for as little time as they have spent together, how they just fit together so perfectly. Loved seeing how Alexis interacted with his family when they were able to spend time together for Thanksgiving.

But...seriously, her dad and Brooks are just the worst. Ok, maybe they aren't on the level of some of the Lisa Suzanne villains of the past, but I'm nervous to see what they have in store for her - and if they continue to force her into the sham marriage she doesn't want.

Looking forward to On Deck, as I just need to know what happens next! I know things will get even more tangled and twisted, but I love the rollercoaster ride of emotions Lisa Suzanne takes us on, because the end is always so worth it!

4 Star Review Caught Looking (Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded #2) by Lisa Suzanne

Book two in the latest series from Lisa Suzanne was an entertaining well written story that ticked numerous boxes for me. This series MUST be read in order so if you haven’t read Scoring Position then STOP. This is the continuing story of baseball bad boy Danny Brewer and pop princess and actress Alexis Bodega.

After the ending in the previous book, I could not wait to dive in and read Caught Looking to see how the story panned out. When her father arranges for a public wedding proposal, Alexis is backed into a corner with no way out.

Danny is furious when he learns what has happened. He may have a reputation as the bad boy of baseball but he will not cross the line with a married woman. Can the relationship that they have had in secret continue or are they destined to be pulled apart once and for all?

Again, this ends in a cliff hanger but hopefully we will get some of the answers we seek in On Deck releasing in a couple of weeks.

If you remember Alexis’s dad said he would rewrite her contract. I couldn’t believe her dad when he said he would rewrite if she agreed to be engaged to Brooks who she couldn’t stand. Danny was crushed when he found out she was engaged to Brooks. Anything that has to do with someone being married or engaged is off limits for him because of his past. When Danny finally talks to Alexis she tells him it is something her father cooked up for her contract. I was on the edge of my seat when the two tried to secretly see each other. I was so disgusted with her father and Brooks. It makes me sad that a father could treat his daughter the way he does. I love Alexis’s bodyguard Gregory who seems to be on her side. This book doesn’t end very happily. I can’t wait for the next book. I strongly encourage you to read it.

Things are heating up as Danny Brewer and Alexis Bodega continue to steal your hearts. I was literally on the edge of my seat after the bombshell at the end of SP. I couldn’t wait to see how Danny would react. Needless to say our boy has it bad! The chemistry between these two is ADDICTING!!! I am loving watching these two fall further and further in love with one another. Side note: I NEED Rush and some certain someone’s story like yesterday!!!

Book 2 in the new Vegas Heat Bases Loaded series and as I predicted after book 1, were already off to a messy start. So many secrets and lies, but thankfully not between the two mains. I can’t wait to see how this plays out, between the manipulation by Alexis’s dad/agent and fiancé/manager, and Danny’s own emotions about being the “other man” (rightfully so), they’ve got a lot of hurdles to overcome. I also really loved to see Danny’s sister and mom start to maybe have a new thing going…time will tell.

Danny Brewer, first baseman for the Vegas Heat expansion team: The Vegas Aces just won the World Series. After six months on tour, Alexis Bodega is back and totally ready to relax and hang out with Danny.
The lengths of deception and deceit that Alexis has to go through to see Danny and appease her father is so nerve wracking.

I loved all the twists and turns especially the end of Book 2

Book Two puts us right back in the middle of all the twisty turns happening for Danny and Alexis. We left off Book 1 with the engagement of Alexis to Brooks from her POV.

Book Two opens with Danny having no idea what was going on until his sister tells him about the engagement. This really confuses him because they were supposed to meet up – the one where they both have been waiting to meet up for the past 6 months! Alexis isn’t going to let one little engagement get in her way of seeing Danny. She meets him at the hotel and things get spicy.

They cross paths again when they end up endorsing the same product and stay at the house that they are shooting all the promo shots at. This is the first time for them to have two beautiful days together where they both realize that they are falling for each other. Also, Alexis tells her that Danny is the only 2nd man she has ever slept with. Danny is having a hard time reconciling the fact that he is sleeping with an engaged woman. Alexis assures him that she is taking care of the situation.

As time marches on, Alexis gets closer to the assumed wedding date and she just cannot go through with it and sneaks off to Vegas to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with Danny and his family and gives the trackable phone a ditch with the help of her body guard. Also, we find out that some sneaky spice is happening with Danny’s sister and a teammate!

Cannot wait for Book 3 – Lisa Suzanne knows how to build suspense!

This story is so unpredictable. Every time I think I figure out where the storyline is headed Lisa changes the directions. I loved Thanksgiving. I loved that the bodyguard and Danny’s Mom hit it off. It’s amazing for everyone has someone. And the fact Alexis lied and took a huge risk I was so happy. Then book 2 ended in a cliffhanger that left my jaw hitting the floor! Holy cow!!!

Book 2 picks up with dealing with the aftermath of the cliffhanger in book one. I am still so invested in Alexis and Danny. Danny has never wanted to settle down but when he meets Alexis everything changes. Alexis is a hardworking pop star, has strict goals for herself and is micromanaged by her agent dad and her manager. Alexis and Danny are still stuck in an unfortunate situation.

I am listening to the audiobook and am loving the narration by Avery Reid and Scott Rose. They deliver all the emotion and feels.

Oh Danny, here comes trouble! In a way, I expected Lisa Suzanne to hit me with the plot twist. Was I ready for what was going on? Nope. I'm really hoping Danny and Alexis can catch a break. They are finally sharing glimpses of happiness, but they are hammered with ten steps back for every step they take forward.

Theirs is a slow dance that fast-forwards to explosive when they are able to be together. While scorching, it also gives them glimpses of their future. But Alexis's story is plagued with manipulation and secrets, making me distrust her dad. What is his deal?

In Caught Looking, Alexis starts to defy her dad more, yet she seems to be a prisoner of her circumstances. Since she is 28, I wonder why she isn't rebelling and taking her future into her own hands. Why does she stay under her dad's thumb? The Lex we see with Danny is outspoken and doesn't shy away from her opinions. I understand she wants to believe her dad, but he is shady.

We shall see what happens next. I have a feeling things will get much murkier before they get better.

Danny and Alexis’s story wasn’t over, especially with that cliffhanger at the end of the first book! Alexis and Danny were on the cusp of finally getting to a place where they could potentially move away from the secret meetings, but that wasn’t what happened. Instead, Danny and Alexis found themselves in quite the predicament which made Danny think, “what do you do when the woman you have feelings for is engaged to someone else?” This sports romance had a bit of angst, still forbidden love, and two people trying to find their happily ever after together despite all the obstacles they had against them.

Ever since I read the first book, I thought, “ok, so Danny and Alexis will find a way to be together and ta-da happy ending!”…no, things weren’t as simple as I originally imagined. Case in point, Alexis dealing with the surprise engagement, and trying to get Danny to understand that she wants no part in it, but due to things pertaining to her career, she had no choice. Stuck in an impossible situation, Alexis had to go along with the engagement, but for Danny it posed the dilemma that he would now be considered, “the other man”. Danny didn’t believe in cheating, and he vowed he would never be like his dad (Danny’s dad cheated on Danny’s mom), but even he was faced with a big issue of questioning his own morals when it came to being with Alexis despite the fake engagement.

While I wouldn’t classify this story as it having the “cheating” trope, in some aspect it plays into some of the obstacles that Danny and Alexis are faced with. I need to reiterate and make this clear, there is no cheating whatsoever, but with the appearance of Alexis being engaged to Brooks, it comes off as Danny and Alexis are secretly hooking up behind Brooks’s back. Brooks and Alexis have always had a pretend relationship for the sake of Alexis’s career, and they never had romantic feelings for each other so, there was nothing between them except for working together.

This sports romance book was once again the kind that took me by surprise. When I say surprise, I mean yet again a completely unexpected cliffhanger that once again left me with questions! Alexis and Danny were caught in the middle of a complicated situation. The situation with Alexis being engaged for the sake of her father’s business merger, and Danny not wanting to be the “other man”, caused the dilemma in how Alexis and Danny were yet again unable to find a way to be together out in the open. I had my hopes that something would happen in terms of Alexis and Danny finding a way, but with Alexis’s dad and Brooks, it seemed like those two had their own ideas of maintaining control over Alexis’s life and career. Aside from the obstacles that Alexis and Danny dealt with, I liked getting to see a bit of the romance between Danny’s sister and his teammate, Rush, if there ends up been a book about those two, I would read it! Overall, the book was quick, straightforward, but had enough plot and interesting parts to the story that held my attention. While I wouldn’t say this series is out of this world, it’s the perfect story to read if you’re in a reading slump or looking for something quick to read. Guess we’ll have to see what happens next in the next book with Alexis and Danny.

Caught Looking is the second book in Lisa Suzanne's Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series and is the continuing story of Danny and Alexis.
After the cliff-hanger and bombshell that was dropped at the end of Scoring Position, we were left wanting more and wondering how Alexis and Danny will possibly find their way around Alexis's very public marriage proposal and subsequent engagement.
Danny and Alexis may not know how they can possibly find a way to be together when her Father's latest publicity stunt is set to once again dictate Alexis's life, but they do know one thing for certain, they are made for each other and what they've been creating in secret is something incredibly special. So special that despite Danny's determination to keep people from getting too close and his belief that he isn't made for forever and also keeping his heart under lock and key because of his family's history with cheating and how it has had a huge impact on the person he is today, he cannot deny the way Alexis makes him feel and how right it is whenever they are in each other's arms.
"This is different. From the moment I met her, it was different, and I have to believe it's because she's my dream girl."
Surely there has to be a way to be together, a love like Alexis and Danny's is once in a lifetime and they cannot let Alexis's father ruin their chance at forever. But there are so many obstacles standing in their way not just the fact that Alexis's father is holding her career over her head but they also both have careers that see them traveling for a majority of the year if not all of it.
"I don't want to pretend with Brooks anymore when I've found something real with you, but I also feel very much like I don't have a choice."
Can Danny and Alexis find a way past all of the obstacles standing in their way because despite everything standing between them they know what they've found is life changing. And even without the obstacles how can they possibly create a meaningful relationship with so little time spent together?
"even though I keep hoping this is our future, we have quite a few obstacles in the way.
Alexis's fiancé, for one.
Her father for another.
Her rabid fanbase and the paparazzi will be looking at us under a constant microscope.
Can we get past those obstacles?
They're not insignificant. It's her father. Her agent. Her manager. Her fans. It's her entire life, and I'm over here blowing it up."
Read Caught Looking now to find out if there is a way past everything standing in their way!
I really enjoyed Caught Looking and the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series so far, the cliff-hangers not so much! I think Lisa is an evil genius! She creates stories that grip you from the start and then drops these bombshells on you and all you want to do is keep reading, stay in her addictive worlds and you are constantly questioning whether there will be a HEA and every time you think they could possibly find a way... BAM she does it again and makes you question everything! I cannot wait for the next book despite knowing there will be another cliff-hanger and I will be left thinking of the numerous different ways of what could possibly come next!
I received an ARC of Caught Looking and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

Danny and Alexis’s story continues in book 2 Caught Looking, picking right from the cliffhanger author Lisa Suzanne left us hanging on in book one Scoring Position from Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series.

The start of the book may have had Danny and Alexis at a crossroad, considering the major obstacle that came in the form of Alexis accepting Brook’s proposal putting a wrench in their plans of building a relationship.
However with some figuring out from talking and major convincing on Alexis’s part, given Danny’s stance on it all, we see the two come to a decision of continuing to move forward, but in continued secrecy.

Although there was much to be said and told in this book given the drama and the ongoing of secret and lies being kept and told.
The major element with Caught Looking came from focusing on the continuation of Danny and Alexis’s blossoming relationship, especially the steaminess of it, which just kept on giving.
Every moment shared between them had the fires aflame bringing Lustful, Red-Hot, Sizzling, Fiery Spice. Like animals in the heat they could not get enough of each other, constantly getting down and dirty. Proving their physical chemistry was very much alive and electric.
As well as their emotional one too, knowing their feelings for one another brought out their deep dedication to one another, wanting to constantly be with each other and share meaningful moments that allowed them to open up to one another like no other in whatever time together they could have.
The showcasing of this made for sweet and heartwarming moments between Danny and Alexis, having you rooting for them even more. Then again how could you not when they made such a cute couple, who got each other so well, despite having known each other for a short time.
Being able to be their real selves with one another proved it too.

Whilst Alexis did have me feeling sorry for her at times, due to her predicament from all that she was going through that seemed to be out of her control.
At the same time this book had me having my fair share of annoyance and dislike towards her too.
The way Alexis came across and acted at times in regards to their situation had her seem a little self centred and selfish. Putting her needs first without giving any real thought to Danny's, despite knowing his stance on their situation and the morals he held.
And for that, it just didn’t sit right with me, hence the dislike at times.

Caught Looking ended on a cliffhanger which actually gave me a sense of deja vu surprisingly, due to the similarity shared that took me back to Cooper and Gabby’s story from Vegas Heat: Expansion Team.
But nonetheless author Lisa Suzanne still has me hanging on, waiting to see what will happen next for our Bad Boy Baseball player Danny and Pop star Princess Alexis in the next book On Deck. Because something tells me that sh*t is about to hit the fan with it about to go downhill for the couple.

If I'm caught looking, it'll ruin both her brand and my reputation.

The saga picked up exactly where it ended ..
while Alexis is forced to publicly say I do to a proposal orchestrated by her manipulative father and the man she is to marry, Danny was losing his shitz to say the least!

Danny felt as if he has become the very thing he despises.. becoming the other man in any relationship goes against everything.. but when it comes to Alexis he somehow struggles to do what he’s believed in.. and with every step forward with her feels as if he is compromising his morals more and more.

But just as they try to make whatever is happening between them work despite all the obstacles.. Alexis felt as if she could stand up to her father who keeps dangling her freedom with marriage.. but this man is more devious and manipulative than she or anyone one can imagine as yet again she is forced to leave Danny yet again!

Lord …Avery Reid and Scott Rose Ratchet up the emotions bring us all the feels and frustration that this story brings.
I was also excited when the characters Alexis and Danny finally get a moment of sexy times
And was Deeply Touched with how much Danny has grown since having Alexis in his life..

I absolutely love Danny and his relationship with his sister, mom and Rush I’m totally into more of Anna and Rush story heck I’m even keeping my fingers crossed for Danny’s mom and the bodyguard!

All on all this one is good ..frustrating but good and now I’m dying for book 3 because honestly, Alexis cannot be that naïve where here father is concerned.

Book 2 in this series and the rocky romance between Alexis and Danny continues...
Danny is the bad boy of Baseball and Alexis is the wholesome good girl of the music industry, she is also an actress.
After the bombshell of book one were Alexis' Dad manipulates her into a fake engagement between her fake boyfriend Brooks, all for a buisness deal.
He is basically blackmailing her into having a fake wedding, but Alexis doesn't love Brooks, she is infatuated with Danny.
The infatuation and attraction is mutual and Danny has strong feelings for Alexis and they have secret rendevouz's to spend time together.
So when Danny discovers that Alexis is now engaged to another man he is devestated,he doesn't want to be the other man in a relationship...But Alexis explains to him what is happening with her father.
Danny was traumatised as a child when he caught his Dad cheating on his Mum and then he caught his brother in Law cheating on his sister. So he is strongly against being a dirty secret.Because if it gets out that he is still meeting Alexis..He will get branded as a home wrecker etc.
In this story we see how Danny and Alexis get to know more about eachother and get more intimate with one another.Which is an explosion of passion and steam between them.
Their relationship is secret and they need to keep it that way until the merger deal is over and Alexis can be let out of her contract with her Dad.
But can it all be kept secret?
I felt really bad for them all they want to do is be together and it seems there are so many things stopping them..Danny has changed so much from the playboy he used to be,and Alexis is so much more braver and confident to stand up for herself against her Dad...In the past she just let him control her Career,But now she wants more freedom and a relationship and maybe even a family of her own.
Then just when you are feeling happy BOOM another cliff hanger..lol..and yet another situation that will delay them being together.
I am so invested in Danny and Alexis I cannot wait for book 3..
I also loved the little side story of Rush and Danny's Sister I loved that Danny wasn't against them trying something between them,...and a maybe romance between Danny's Mum and Gregory..its so cute!!!
The Narration by Avery Reid and Scott Rose is Excellent they play the characters with all the emotion and flair that you want in an audiobook. You need to be able to picture everything and feel what the characters are feeling and I think Avery and Scott did a wonderful job at making the listener achieve that.
I am loving this series and Lisa Suzanne's imagnation even if she has left me hanging..lol

Omg I cannot get enough of these two!! Danny and Alexis are so addicting! In my review for book #1 I fawned over them, saying how they have become my new favorite Lisa Suzanne couple, and book #2 did not disappoint! I literally speed-read the entire thing in record time. I could not put it down.

Alexis and Danny's story is interesting, deep where it needs to be, complicated much like life can be, and yet they both show vulnerability that makes them endearing. They are faced with life's complications and growing pains - albeit in a fictional and celebrity setting. Yet their chemistry and attraction is palpable and quite (almost) literally jumps off the page at you. It's so addicting. And then they happiness that they bring each other... omg it is everything! But did I talk about their chemistry? Did I? Because o-m-g!!! The steam in this book is soooo beyond out of control - it broke the thermometer.

Now, I've read quite a few Lisa Suzanne books by now - I know that her stories usually run 3-4 books on average and by the 75% mark there's going to be a blow-up of some sort... right now, with book #2 read and under my belt, my anxiety is so high about this potential third act blow-up and potential break-up. It feels like it's lurking and I am not okay. I desperately need these two to get their HEA - they deserve it! Like, sometimes you encounter characters that so desperately deserve the HEA and you root for them the entire time, silently (and sometimes not-so silently) rooting them on, sending out positive and encouraging words to the Universe for that character to get all of the amazing things... well, let's say I'm doing that for these two. They neeeeeed to get the HEA and they need to get it Right. Now. And they need it together. They need the fairytale. They need to get away from all the ... well, frankly, crap. Alexis needs to become untied to the binds that are dragging her down, and Danny needs to get away from this reputation that no longer suits him. Ugh, the struggle is real here guys! So even though this book will make you hot and bothered - in both the best possible way as well as has you raging (I kind of hate Brooks and Alexi's dad) - I'm honestly just frothing at the mouth for book #3 and to finally - finally!!! - see Danny and Alexis get that HEA. Lisa, please!! Give me the happy and sultry!

𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 is the second book in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series by Lisa Suzanne, and things are finally starting to heat up for Danny and Alexis in the spice department, but so is the drama. Just as Danny thinks they’re going to find a way to be together, Alexis’ father springs a surprise public engagement on her. Now Danny must choose between his own moral standards and the woman he’s falling in love with. Can he continue to see her in secret? How long will that actually work? Or will her father find another way to doom their relationship forever!!

I’m so hooked on this one already!!! The emotions, angst, and drama are already high, and it’s only the second book! I don’t see this secret staying under wraps for long, either! I loved Alexis and Danny’s spicy scenes, as well as their banter. The scenes with the family were a blast, giving some fun side plots that have my mind buzzing with questions already. Getting to know Gregory more was a treat, and I’m crossing my fingers that Danny’s sister will play a bigger role in a future story!😉 My heart, though, is all about Danny. He wants so badly to celebrate being in love, but everything is such a mess. And with that cliffhanger, I’m afraid things are only going to get worse! Buckle up, friends, because this is going to be a bumpy ride, but it’s always worth it in the end!! Don’t miss Scoring Position and Caught Looking as we wait on the rest of the series!!

I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Lisa's latest installment, "Caught Looking," takes the scorching chemistry between Danny and Alexis to new heights, leaving readers breathless and craving more. This forbidden love saga continues to evolve, delving into deeper connections beyond mere lust and attraction.
The palpable tension and powerful emotions between Danny and Alexis are nothing short of perfection. The novel seamlessly picks up where "Scoring Position" left off, proving once again that Lisa's series must be experienced in order for maximum enjoyment.

The central theme of communication plays a crucial role, adding a layer of complexity to their relationship. While Alexis may tread the fine line of withholding information from Danny, it's intriguing to decipher whether her actions are reasonable or bordering on the annoying. The internal struggles and unspoken words heighten the suspense, keeping readers engaged and eager for resolution.

What sets "Caught Looking" apart is the characterization of Danny, the supposed Bad Boy of Baseball. His sweet and loving nature, combined with his unwavering commitment to Alexis, paints a multi-dimensional picture. Despite the potential fallout from their relationship, Danny's moral compass remains intact, adding depth to his character.

The book masterfully builds the tension in Danny and Alexis's relationship, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. The tantalizing ending promises even more complications, setting the stage for the highly anticipated next installment, "On Deck.”

In summary, "Caught Looking" is a must-read for fans of steamy romances with intricate plotlines. Lisa delivers another compelling chapter in this captivating saga, leaving readers hooked and eagerly awaiting the next twist in Danny and Alexis's tumultuous love affair.

I received an ARC of this book. All views are my own.

We jump in right where book 2 left off, and it's just as annoying with Alexis' father in this installment haha I found my blood pressure rising as this book went on, waiting for Alexis' father to pull some dumb stunt, and yep, that ending. Ugh.

Anyway, let's get back to the real stars of this series, Danny and Alexis. What I really like about this series is the miscommunication trope is nonexistent. Most romance novels would really play up communication in this trope, but Lisa created this relationship where Danny and Alexis *gasp* trust each other. He knows she's trapped in a loveless pseudo relationship, and she knows he's not the Bad Boy of Baseball as he's reported to be. They actually don't go all crazy and accuse the other of lying or manipulating. They each just knew the other. They may have let a few thoughts pass through, but they knew.

Once the engagement goes public, Alexis' father escalates his plan to marry her off, but she's not having any of that. She sneaks around, seeing Danny in secret. The drama is ramped up as their relationship progresses, but they keep it a bit cool. Alexis meets Danny's family, and that's when it really hits the fan. I mentioned I hate Alexis' father, right? Ugh, that man.

I love the rapport between Alexis and Danny's family and friends. It's like she fits right in! Danny and Alex's chemistry is combustible - they are truly made for each other! And the fact that they had crushes on each other before they met? *fans self* That was absolutely the hottest thing hahaha! I'm not looking forward to what Alexis' father has in store for her next...

I swear Lisa Suzanne is trying to give me a heart attack with these audiobooks. There so good that your just listening and enjoying the story, then BAM cliffhanger book over!!! WHAT????!!! I love this series so far and I can't wait until I get to listen to the next book.

This series has to be read in order because they leave off on cliffhangers and start back right where we left off.

I listened to the audiobook for this one and the narrators Avery Reid and Scott Rose did a great job telling this story. They held my attention and kept me entertained. Their voices were perfect for these characters.

Oh I'm getting so frustrated in his book with Alexis and her father. He is a hateful man in my eyes. I just wish Alexis could see things more clearly. He orchestrates an engagement for business purposes and Alexis is forced to say yes. She thinks this will help things get better but will it?

Danny is on a high from winning the World Series only to find out his secret girl Alexis is now engaged. He doesn't like being the other guy even though her relationship with Brooks is for show. But his feelings for her are just to strong. Will those feels be enough?

This book will have you going through all of your emotions. I had moments I laughed, I wanted to throw something, I was swooning, Blushed and was smiling like a fool. Lisa doesn't disappoint me with her writing. Her books always pull me in and leave me wanting more because they are so good!!

I would HIGHLY recommend this audiobook and this series!

Thank you Valentine PR for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.

From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. Danny Brewer was riding that high coming off a World Series win…all for it to come crashing down after his sister Anna calls and tells him Alexis just announced her engagement. Danny realizes he’d be considered the “other man” if word of their secret relationship got out, and wonders in having Alexis in some way is better than not having her at all.

Despite agreeing to this engagement Alexis still wants to make her and Danny’s relationship work, but he’s ignoring her calls and texts. Before the announcement of the engagement Alexis and Danny had plans to meet up at a hotel, and Alexis keeps the date hoping he’ll show. Despite arriving late Danny makes the meeting and tells Alexis he doesn’t want to continue their relationship if she’s engaged to another man. Alexis assures him the engagement isn’t real and she won’t marry Brooks. Being assured Danny and Alexis have a steamy night together, and end up working together to film a commercial endorsing the same product.

Having given into the physical side of their relationship Danny is certain Alexis is who he’s meant to be with. They just need to get past the obstacles of her father, fiancé, and fanbase. After being together for months Alexis decides she want to meet Danny’s family, so Danny extends an invite for her to join them for Thanksgiving. Seeing the way Alexis is with his family makes Danny think they can pull through and make it, but when Alexis gets a call after the meal she’s hoping back in the car for La, and the future for the two is still uncertain.

I am absolutely LOVING this chemistry between Danny and Alexis! They have this unbelievable and powerful connection that is more than just lust and attraction but that deeper level connection- and it is just perfection.

Caught Looking is the second book in this forbidden relationship and things are getting more complicated. As always with Lisa's "sagas" this series must be read in order because it picks up right where Lisa left us dangling in Scoring Position and it will again leave you yelling for more while we wait for On Deck.

Communication seems to be the name of the game here and these two are kind of walking that fine line of their non-communication being reasonable or annoying. Alexis is kind of the biggest perpetrator in that she seems to hold things back from Danny more often than not but I've understood her logic to a point so she hasn't quite fully crossed that "OMG you're and idiot" line in my mind... yet 🤪

I simply cannot get over Danny though- he may be seen as the Bad Boy of Baseball but I'm adoring how sweet he is, how loving and just simply how "all in" he is with Alexis. He doesn't have to be, he has no trouble finding companionship if he wanted it especially since the optics of his relationship with Alexis, should anyone find out, would go completely against every fiber of his moral code.

This book is a great build up in their relationship and with the way it ends I just know that things are just about to get even MORE complicated... and I simply cannot wait to see how it all will play out!

Caught Looking
Danny Brewer and his team have just won the World Series! Then he finds out that his secret girlfriend, Alexis Bodega is engaged to another man. Danny caught his father cheating on his mother and they divorced, then years later he caught his brother-in -law cheating leading to another divorce. Danny will not be involved in any cheating. He has to talk to Alexis. What is going on? For seven months the “Bad Boy of Baseball” has been focused on one woman and only one woman. Could this be a deal breaker?
Alexis’s father is her agent, he directs everything in her career and hold her Masters for her music. He wants her to marry her manager, Brooks Donovan. She doesn't love Brooks and has never had that kind of relationship with him. He gives her an ultimatum; marry Brooks and I will amend your contract and give you control. This man has controlled her for too long. Will he really honor his words?
Danny and Alexis decide to explore what they have, knowing that the engagement is not real. This has become so important to each of them. Both listen, really listen to each other. It is much more that the bacon, doughnuts and champagne. It feels right they love each other. Danny wants to be the one engaged to her. It all seems to be coming together.
Then at Thanksgiving, Alexis gets a shocking phone call. Her father is hospitalized.
It all seems to be coming together for these two. Both Alexis and Danny are so in love. But in the background is Alexis’s Dad finding a way to tie the Donovan Family to the Bodega Family?
I am so looking forward to the next book.

Caught Looking (Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded #2) by Lisa Suzanne is part two of a five-part contemporary sports romance serial and ends with a cliffhanger. Told in first person dual POV, this installment includes celebrity (pop star w/ baseball player), instalove, and forbidden romance tropes. The story follows the relationship between bad-boy professional baseball player Danny Brewer and “America’s Sweetheart” pop princess Alexis Bodega after they meet when she performs the National Anthem on Opening Day.

This book picks up right where the previous one ended. Danny and Alexis have continued to sneak around and have managed to keep their relationship a secret. Everything’s great (well as great as possible for a secret relationship) until Alexis’s fake boyfriend publicly proposes—something her father arranged—and since she’s cornered, she says yes. Alexis explains that it’s not a real engagement, but Danny still doesn’t like the idea of being the home-wrecking other man, which is what the public will think if the truth of their relationship gets out. But if Alexis’s father has his way, she’ll marry Brooks to secure a business merger. Can Alexis escape her father’s manipulations?

I loved this second installment of Alexis and Danny’s story! I’m still getting Britney Spears vibes from Alexis’s agent/father, and I hope she can find a way to break free from the prison of being under his control. I can’t wait to read the next installment and find out what happens next!

Alexis and Danny are both reeling from the cliffhanger at the end of the first book and are unsure of their future as things in Alexis' life are rapidly changing and drastically effect their future as a couple. Danny is struggling with whether he can still be with Alexis after what happened and Alexis is struggling and how to untangle herself from the web she is stuck in so that she can choose Danny in every way possible. Their secret relationship is what is keeping the two of them holding on because every time they are together its like two magnets involuntarily drawn together. They can't help but fall into the moments they have together and don't hold back on being vulnerable with one another.

The spice is definitely kicked up a notch on this one and their chemistry is FIRE! It only fuels the connection they already have and they end up finding a way to spend Thanksgiving together where Alexis meets all of Danny's family. I loved seeing Alexis' bodyguard take a bigger role in this story and I hope that continues to grow because she needs someone in her corner that understands the gravity of her situation and will support her in finding happiness. The cliffhanger on this one is intense and puts some things into perspective for Alexis and I am wondering what all this will mean for their relationship. The cliffhangers are real in these books!

Scott and Avery are really embodying these characters and I love the continuity of narration from one book to the other to keep the story moving seamlessly.
