Dirty Blood #1-3

Dirty Blood Series

I killed a girl last night.

I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that's not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can't seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted - and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws.

But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again.

That's about the time I went into shock ... And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And two, I was born to kill them.

Dirty Blood is book 1.
3 stars. The plot is good, but the heroine isn’t giving me much to like. I’ll give book 2 a chance.

Cold Blood book 2
Well, I had hoped the heroine was going to become smarter as the book progressed. Considering what she had already experienced, it was exasperating to read how stupid she was. The decisions she made were just asinine. It was like watching a 1970’s horror flick. You know, the girls that run screaming and then stand in front of an open window or keep secrets from the ones keeping you alive? Yeah, THAT girl. She is extremely immature at times for her age. There are inconsistencies with this character as well. It’s hard to like a character that is written like she has two versions of herself and so frustrating. So for me her character devlopment has been poorly executed.

I was hoping for a better ending, but saw it coming a mile away. So predictable. Certain someones die or rather appear to die, only to come back later. So of course no one bothers to chop off a head when it’s needed the most. I was like, wait, really?

I really wanted to like this series because it does have a good story line, but there’s just too many “in your face moments” to overlook. I was hoping book two would be a smarter heroine, but it’s just more of the same so I’ll end with this book.

Honestly, I read the first.book and it was boring.
Personally, I wouldn't suggest it...but, it could be because it is YA and I just...couldn't connect to it.

Good Read

This series has a very twilight feel to it but werewolf and hunters with the love triangle.
When Tara decided to break up with her boyfriend leaving her with no ride home her quick cut through an ally to a bus stop was just meant to be a short cut she never knew that taking that short cut would change her life forever. When a woman appears b4 her and transforms into a wolf a part of Tara takes over one of survival and she kills her attacker. When Wesley shows up not long after offering to help her she's in too much shock to refuse.
Thrust into a world she didn't know exists one that contains werewolves and hunters and she is what they call dirty blood being born of a werewolf father and hunter mother the same as Wesley. There is somewhat of a prophecy about a female alpha who will rise up and unite both worlds with Wesley St.John at her side. But when she gets sent to Hunter school she meets Alex throwing a spanner in the works though she has feelings for him she can't deny that they're not as strong as the ones she has for wesley and Alex has been raised a strong hunter with one goal to kill all werewolves, their worlds are so different she doesn't see him changing.
There's something special about Tara's blood and they face many enemies as they try to capture her each with a different goal in mind but Tara is not in this fight alone as many likely and unlikely allies join her in her fight for peace.

I got the first book in this series some time ago and read it knowing I'd come back to the series at some point. When it was offered as a set, I snatched it up and couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. It was exciting, surprising and imaginative. It follows a teenage girl who discovers she has two sets of DNA within her, Hunter and Werewolf, and when that discovery begins with killing a werewolf and being rescued by a smoldering man who is much more than he seems, the adventure takes a turn in unexpected directions and through sometimes heartbreaking situations. As we move through the story, we watch her grow toward the being she was meant to be, but each decision takes her closer and sometimes through dangers she never realized were out there in her world while bringing her closer to the people around her. She discovers unlikely friendships, love, and betrayal, all the while pushing forward to find her place in the new society.

I couldn't help but admire Tara's strength and fortitude in the face of adversity. But there were times I wanted to shake her along with those around her and make them wake up to the dangers and possibilities around them. There were sweet moments along with the heartbreaking, and I found myself soaking all of it in the more I read. It was such an exciting story, and I couldn't wait to read the next page, so much so that I spent several sleepless nights with my nose in the books. The author has a marvelous imagination and a special talent for painting a scene and pulling us into it. I look forward to finding out how the story ends and wishing I could read it all over again.

This is a series you won't want to stop reading.

What a series. If you like action, heroes, betrayal, magic, and love then this is the series for you. So, there are such things as Werewolves, and opposite to them are the Hunters. They've been locked in a bitter battle for survival for a long time with no end in sight. Tara is just an ordinary girl in high school or is she? As far as she knows, there's nothing special about her. That is until one night when she's attacked by something she can't explain. This starts a journey she doesn't like but can't get out of if she tries. She learns that she is a Hunter, that she was attacked by a werewolf, and that yes it is real. So is the pull she feels for the boy who helped her the night of the attack. As her journey progresses, she learns more about her mom and dad, what they were into, and that she is now a part of it. The result is a set of poignant stories with a whole lot of badassery. You have to read this is you like wolves and magic.

This book had me hooked from the first words. Kelly Pruner did her thang with narrating this book. She had a way of cultivating and capturing the audience in a death grip. This book almost put you in mind of the Twilight Saga, but with a very pleasant twist that definitely announces it is not the same. I literally could not stop listening to this book that is how ENGROSSING it is. I could literally see the look on each of their faces with whatever the situation was, them running into the invisible house, the fight with the werewolves and hunters, Uncle Aster's haphazard ways, and finally that gorgeous waterfall. Yes, I saw it all through Ms. Pruner's captivating voice. This is definitely a must read, I would recommend it to anyone who is doubtful.

Can't put it down!

It's rare that I find a series I have to completely finish immediately. I liked finding most of the books in a series that I could read in order. It has quite a bit of melodrama but that can be said for most teenaged focused characters. I highly enjoy werewolf series so I may be a bit biased. I would definitely recommend to others, and yes there are major clips between the books

A great paranormal series, with an interesting plot, well written characters and a lot of twists and turns. The author creates a fascinating new reality, where humans and werewolves are coexisting, without any knowledge of it. Tara and Wes are great characters, I loved their meeting and deepening relationship. A lot of scary moments, which mad me cringe, but many tender ones as well.

Highly recommended.

Loved , Loved, Loved books 1-4 . The concept of this book is what pulls the reader in . Heather Hildenbrand takes the paranormal world and flips it. You have all kinds of thing in this book that pulls you in . YOU have forbidden romance, werewolves, hybrids, hunters and a love triangle of sorts. You really can not go wrong with this series. I am looking forward to the ending . I would recommend reading when you have plenty of time because you are not going to want to stop until you finished.

I really enjoyed the first three books in the series. Good characters and good writing. My problem with this series is that I feel as if the story is dragging on and on. A constantly moving target of bad guys and contrived angst that doesn’t suit the characters. I’m pushing through because I do want to know how the story ends but I feel like this series would have been better served by being 1/4-1/2 as long as it is.

Hunters and werewolves

This book is centered around a world that has a secret population of supernatural beings. Werewolves and Hunters, but also a by did consisting of both DNA in one. Tara does not know of this supernatural world until one night she's attacked by a werewolf. Then she's thrown into a world she doesn't understand and needs to learn who to trust. This is a five book series, and the cliffhangers will have you itching to continue on to the next book.

Almost entirely wrapped up

I'm so glad that I bought this box set because as the stories progressed you were left wanting more, and I only had to turn the page to do so. Books 1 and 3, Dirty Blood and Blood Bond respectively, were my favorites. Maybe the box set will eventually be updated to include the complete series, but even if it doesn't, book 5, Broken Blood has already been released, so I'm off to finish the series.

Wow

This is a story about werewolves and werewolf hunters. We get Tara that discovers that she is a hunter when she accidently kills a werewolf. She learns more about her background and a pull to Wes a hybrid. As the story goes you will learn of bigger plots and have frustratiins even with our main FMC.

Worst ending ever

Story line was just ok, seemed to have potential but never got there. After four books, it ends in a poor cliffhanger in an over
obvious attempt to sell more tripe.

Great set

Wish it had all five books. I also would like more action from Tara and Wes or Tara and Alex. I normally hate love triangles but I have a HUGE soft spot for Alex and can't decide if I like Wes or Alex more. Can't wait to read the final book to see who she ends up with.
