"Sexy, romantic and funny- I love this book!" NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR KATY EVANS
College senior Taylor Haney just found the guy of her dreams. Stellan Goode is smart, rich, funny, and hotter than a pool deck in July. There's just one he's a virgin, and according to him, he's staying that way until marriage.
Or is he?
Romantic, funny, erotic and suspenseful, Breaking Goode captures the struggle between fear and desire, and it will stay with you long after you swipe the last page on your reading device.
That was one of the worst books I've read in a while.. Wow. No wonder it sat on my kindle for over 2 years.
I really wanted to like this book because I'm a huge fan of the #SorryNotSorry series. Unfortunately this author needs to stick to what she's good at and that is Alexa Black.
This book was so bad my brain hurt while reading it.. Of course there was this "big secret" that you would eventually find out but the author tried really hard to constantly remind you that this secret exists. It's like, we get it. The sex scenes we're so uncomfortably bad I could barely stand to skim them. The characters were so dull and boring and lame and the dialogue was so flat.
Then we finally got to know what the big secret was, as if we couldn't have already guess it ourselves.. SOO anti-climactic. Total bore.
Seriously this was a painful read, I hated every second of it from about 15% - 100%. Don't read it. But DO read the Sorry Not Sorry series cause that is outrageously funny and relateable.
God, I really did want to love this book. I did. I even really got into a couple of the scenes, but overall, I wouldn't recommend it - and here's why.
1. It tries to hard to be 50 Shades mixed with Twilight. I mean, I've seen a lot of books do this, but this one was just blatantly obvious and ridiculous about it, to the point of damn near quoting the exact same lines in those books. In my opinion, it just tried too hard to be another book.
2. This is only the first installment. This thing is like a novella, only shorter, and it still cost me $4 to read it. I seriously almost threw my Kindle when I realized that was the end of the book and I would have to pay another $4 to read the next part whenever it came out. No bueno.
3. My last point is that it's just not that believable. I can't really explain it, but it's just one of those books where you kind of find yourself thinking "Seriously? That happened?" And not in a good way.
Overall, I think the author has potential and the characters do, too. The plot is being built up correctly and I think there is a real story here, I just wish it would stop trying so hard to be something that it's not.
Oh, and there's also a pretty steamy ice scene. :)
Overall, not my favorite, but not the worst thing I've read either.
