This collection of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini’s personal letters offer a moving glimpse into a missionary soul completely devoted to Jesus Christ. Mother Cabrini’s loving care for her spiritual daughters, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, is also evident. Her perseverance in trials and her unfailing gratitude in all circumstances shine forth. The way she describes the landscapes she encountered on her travels—seeing God’s presence reflected in nature’s beauty, is particularly remarkable. These personal writings were both enjoyable and inspiring to read.

Allegedly, St. Frances didn't like water and yet she sailed on the ocean a number of times and each time she found something to enjoy about it. Whether it was admiring how the water looked or the birds she saw or the shining sun, she always found good in the bad. St. Frances had an incredible trust in God in all of her endeavors, but I suspect she had a fair amount of fire and spice in her veins that helped her establish all the convents and schools and hospitals. I would like to find a biography that will hopefully help me paint a full picture of her.
