There is no excuse for not telling your baby father, that he has a child, Sabrina had over four year to tell Jake and she did not.

Another outstanding story by super-talented romantic suspense writer Virginia Vaughan! Romance and suspense are perfectly balanced in this exciting inaugural offering in the Lone Star Defenders series. Danger lurks around every corner as Deputy Sabrina Reagan and ex-boyfriend Detective Jake Harris seek to bring down a notorious drug dealer and his supplier while also navigating a second-chance romantic relationship which includes parenting a precious four-year-old. The fast-paced, action-packed plot, replete with twists and surprises, kept me eagerly turning the pages while trying to put together the pieces of the intriguing puzzle. Compelling, true-to-life characters enhance the impact of the story. If you are looking for a great inspirational romantic suspense that is both entertaining and emotionally engaging, this book is for you.

Deputy Sabrina Reagan is determined to get a dangerous drug-trafficking criminal - the one she blames for her brother’s death five years prior - off the street. She knows the job is dangerous, but wants to make the streets safe for her young son.
Jake Harris shows up in town to go undercover in Creed’s organization and finish what his twin brother started. He never realized he’d be liaising with his ex, Sabrina.
Now, as they work together to take down Creed while protecting Sabrina from the hit put on her, feelings that never really died come to life again. But they each hold a burden they wonder if the other can forgive.
I read this book so fast…what a page-turner! The author had me shaking my head and my mouth forming an “O” at almost every page. I can’t wait for more!

Deputy Sabrina Regan and Max work on a case together to take down a drug dealer. Max goes undercover but will he succeed in infiltrating Creeds organization?
The story had me at the very beginning. The main characters had many layers, were determined, and had a personal reason for succeeding. My emotions were like a roller-coaster. One minute I was on the edge of my seat, another I held my breath, and finally felt tears in my eyes. It was that good! There was non-stop action, intrigue, mystery, and a second chance romance which only added more emotion to the story.
The ending was exciting, a total surprise, and wrapped everything up wonderfully. A great start to a new series. Highly recommended!

Dangerous Christmas Investigation is another awesome book by Virginia Vaughan.
Jake is working undercover, taking his twin brother’s place who has been killed, and runs into the woman he loved years ago. Sabrina has a son now, and when Jake sees him, he's blown away when he sees the child. His child!
But he's in deep cover in a gang. Sabrina is a deputy after the gang and now has a bounty on her. Jake must protect them both, and when his cover is blown, they're all in trouble.
This book was an exciting page turner from beginning to end. But when I found out the big boss of the drug running gang, that totally blew me away!

I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. Deputy Sabrina Regan has bringing down Creed's drug operation as an obsession. She blames Creed and his organization of killing her brother Robby with their drugs. She is the sherrif's department contact with Max Harris who works for the DEA. He has infiltrated the organization. Max has not made contact in three weeks. Sabrina is very worried that something may have happened to him. She is so relieved when she sees him at the sherrif's office. But it is not Max, it is Jake his twin brother who left her five years ago after her brother's death. So much has happened in those five years including her four year old son, Robby. This book had me on the edge of my seat as Jack and Sabrina work together to bring down Creed's operation as well as finding out who is behind the entire organization. There are many twists and turns along the way. This is a must read for all romantic suspense fans.

A must read…. An adventure on every page as Jake Harris agrees to work undercover to bring down a drug ring. His identical twin brother was killed in a car crash and his work must go on. He did not know his ex girlfriend Deputy Sabrina Reagan was working on this case also. That was not the only thing he didn’t know about her. After learning he had a son with her his main goal now was to keep his family safe. Will he be able to keep Sabrina and his son safe?

I absolutely love the first book in this new Lone Star Defenders series. Exciting, intense, action packed, heart stopping, sitting on the edge of your seat suspense!! A roller coaster of a ride with unexpected twists and turns!! I was shocked at the unexpected ending of who the bad guy was. This is one time I couldn't figure it out. I loved the wonderful characters. Deputy Sabrina Reagan is determined to take down the drug dealer. Detective Jake Harris wants to protect Sabrina. Ms. Vaughn knows how to grab your attention from beginning to end of the story. I look forward to more books in this new exciting series!! A must read!! I was given a complimentary copy. I loved this first book in the series! This author definitely knows how to spin a tale. A little romance and a lot of suspense and action make for a great read. Sabrina works as an officer in the narcotics division after her brother died from drug use. Expecting undercover agent Max to return results in a big surprise. I highly recommend this book.

Virginia Vaughan sure knows how to keep your interest in this fast paced romantic suspense story.
Deputy Sabrina Reagan is bound and determined to bring down Creed’s organization. She blames the death of her brother on this Creed and his drugs. She will not rest until she takes them down.
She’s very surprised when twin brother Jake takes the place of her partner Max. She knows right away that it’s Jake. So now she’s also dealing with the loss of her partner. And she has to come clean with Jake when he finds out that her four year-old son Robby is actually his son also. They were a couple before her brother’s death. Her grief was too much for Jake to handle. When he left, he didn’t know she was pregnant.
The story just has so much going on. It’s definitely one that you will be at the edge of your seat and staying up well past your bedtime.

Dangerous Christmas Investigation by Virginia Vaughan is book #1 in her new Lone Star Defenders series. It was a great way to kick of a series. Deputy Sabrina Reagan is doing all she can to investigate the drug lord who she blames for killing her brother. Now, her ex is going deep undercover as his dead twin brother. Not only that, Jake learns he has a 4 year old son. As these two try & get information to put this dangerous criminal away, there’s another unknown criminal trying to take them out. Doesn’t that just draw u right in? I loved this book. It was so suspenseful as Jake went undercover as his brother who was also undercover. Sounds confusing? Read the book & you’ll see what I mean. You’ll be pulled in as you immerse yourself in this exciting world. No epilogue, but it still ended with all the feels. I can’t wait to read book #2. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my very own.

Another eventful story by Virginia Vaughan! This romantic suspense brings second chances to another level. I loved the characters and am anxious to see more of Sabrina and Max! I love how the author grabs my attention from the first page and keeps me wanting to continue to turn the page for more. I look forward to more by her.

You first meet Sabrina Reagan, she is a deputy for the Mercy County Sheriff Department and a single mom to her four year old son Robby.
Next you meet Jake Harris, an undercover DEA agent and identical twin brother to Max Harris. Max was working with Sabrina trying to stop a drug dealer, Paul Creed. Max went out of town to meet up with his brother Jake. Max and Jake ended up in a car accident and Max died. Jake decided to honor his brother’s memory by taking over the undercover work by posing as Max.
Jake shows up in town and settles in as Max when he runs into Sabrina at the police station. Jake didn’t realize that she was a deputy or that she was Max’s liaison to the Sheriff’s Department. Sabrina notices Max, but something is different with him and she realizes he is not Max, but Jake. She is probably one of the only people that could tell Max and Jake apart. Jake and Sabrina dated, but later on broke up. Sabrina has been holding on to a secret for years. Her son Robby is Jake’s son and he has no idea.
Drug dealer Paul Creed and his man have targeted Sabrina and the bullets start flying. Can Jake keep Sabrina and Robby safe? Will he forgive Sabrina for keeping Robby a secret? Will he be able to keep his identity a secret not only as an undercover DEA agent, but as Jake not Max?

I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is an inspirational romantic suspense book. It is about Jake and Sabrina. They have both experienced a lot of death and heartbreak. They were each other’s first love and never truly moved on. They reconnect when Jake takes his brothers place on an undercover operation. Little did Jake know his brother was giving information to Sabrina who is now a cop trying to take down the man responsible for drug trafficking. Sabrina has also been keeping a secret from him. Jake has a son he never knew about because Sabrina pushed him away and never told Jake about him. What will happen when their son gets put in danger because of their jobs? Will they be able to protect each other as well as their son? Will Jake be able to forgive Sabrina for not telling him about his son? Will Sabrina be able to forgive Jake for not fighting harder for their relationship when she was pushing him away? Will they get their happily ever after? This book was full of suspense. It had to perfect amount of romance. I do wish I could’ve seen Sabrina introducing Jake to their son as his dad. Overall, this book was amazing. I will be rereading this book. If you love inspirational romance books with a second chance and a lot of suspense I recommend this book.

When Jake Harris returns to his small hometown, he knows that he will see his ex-girlfriend Deputy Sabrina Reagan. Jake is undercover for the DEA and trying to finish a job his recently deceased twin brother Max started. What he did not expect was to find out that Sabrina has a four year old son who is most likely his. Together, Sabrina and Jake face multiple threats and constant danger as they try to find the head of the drug trafficking ring in the area and keep their loved ones safe. The action is non-stop, the mystery of who the drug kingpin is led to a lot of guesses from me, and I was happy that I guessed right with one of them. There are plenty of red herrings and fake trails and a lot of possible suspects. I enjoyed the fast pace, the realistic characters and the trope of a second chance at love. This book offers a thrill ride that starts from the first page and continues until the very last page.

I loved this story filled with romance and suspense. I loved that the story is set around Christmas and both Sabrina and Jake are needing forgiveness. I really enjoyed all the twists and turns that are filled with suspense and the surprising villain. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This book deals with reunited love. My favorite trope. Jake and Sabrina's story in a new series. Sabrina deals with the death of her brother and the husband who abandoned her in her hour of need. Jake deals with having lost his twin brother, reuniting with the woman who pushed him away, and the child he never knew he had. They are thrown together to complete a drug case that caused her brother's death, and Jake's twin was working undercover. Can they figure out who is the head of this organization and stop the flow of destruction before they both end up dead? There are a lot of twists and turns in this book, but it will definitely keep your attention. Read Dangerous Christmas Investigation and find out.

Virginia is off to a fantastic start with her new Love Inspired Suspense series! I pretty much binge read this one, I could not put it down. The story grabbed me from the opening pages and I was all in. The ultimate villain didn’t surprise me as I had suspected that character from the beginning, but that didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story because I was fully invested in Reagan, Jake and Robby. I can’t wait for the rest of this series!

A fantastic love inspired suspense by Ms. Vaughan! The plot of this book was well written -- keeps readers engaged and invested in the characters to find out the outcome! A book not only about staying alive and bringing justice but also one of second chances, forgiveness and love.
Deputy Sabrina Reagan has been trying to take down a drug smuggler since the overdose death of her brother. She had been working with her ex-boyfriend's (& also father of her son), Detective Jake Harris's, twin brother, Max, who had gone undercover to find all the pieces of the drug dealer. Max is accidentally killed in a car accident and so Jake, a San Diego Detective, shows up to honor and take his brother's place.
This book was fast paced, and keeps you on the edge of your seat with plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing to the very end! It is not heavily focused on romance but the book does a good job weaving Sabrina and Jake's relationship back to one another. You know these two have great chemistry for each other based on their past together, so throughout the book, there is more of a heavy focus on reconnecting, rekindling their lost relationship, and finding their way back to each other. This is a story that pulls on your heart strings and has your rooting for their happily ever after. The author weaves in some faith elements that were a nicely added touch as well.

The start of this new series begins with a bang. One that will keep the readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end.

This clean story was actioned packed, had a little Christian vibe to it, and the characters were well developed.

Five years ago, Jake Harris left his then girlfriend, Sabrina Reagan because he felt unable to help her deal with the death of her brother.
Nowadays, Sabrina has recovered from the grief and is now a deputy with a four year old son. She is still eager to bring down the person responsible for her brother’s death.
When Jake’s twin brother, a DEA undercover agent dies, Jake, a police officer in Dallas, is determined to take his place and bring down the cartel . He never expected to see Sabrina again, and that she would immediately know who he really is. Not only that, but that the four year old boy is his son.
But before he can start mending the past, they are both under fire . Will Jake and Sabrina be able to bring done the cartel, or will the cartel not only win the battle but also destroy the future these two might have?

You will need your running shoes on for this one. Non-stop action with bullets flying and running from bad guys, as well as danger around every corner. Sabrina's obsession with a drug dealer has put a target on her back and everyone around her is also in danger.
This was a suspense-filled mystery, but the message behind this story was so much more powerful than the mystery itself as the female main character, Sabrina, has felt abandoned by God and her ex. She also lost her father. All of these things happened within a short period of time. She learns that her faith is sufficient if she will just believe and lean on God. She also needs to learn that others can help her, if she will allow them in.
There were some incredibly intense scenes that left me gritting my teeth. The action made this book easy to fly through. This is a fabulous start to the new series entitled Lone Star Defenders, and if this book is any indication, we have a lot to look forward to in this series.

Wow! What an incredible beginning to a new series. This author does not disappoint. Deputy Sabrina Reagan has a goal and that is to bring Paul Creed to justice for the distribution of drugs in their town, some of which had resulted in the death of her brother, Robby, as well as many others.
Unfortunately, Creed is not interested in justice and puts a hit out on Sabrina. When others try to help her, they land in the crosshairs as well. Will she and her young son, Robby, be sacrificed to evil or will the head of this ring finally be brought to justice?
