My hot-as-sin boss just caught me taking dirty selfies. My relationship is falling apart, so I decide to spice things up by snapping some steamy pics at the office. Seems like a great idea until my gorgeous-but-terrifying boss, Renzo Rossi, walks into the room as I’m contorting in the mirror. Completely. Freaking. Topless. And he’s not shy about complimenting my pose. Life gets even worse when my boyfriend breaks up with me and skips town with all my stuff. Dumped, humiliated, and at rock bottom, I’m seriously considering joining a nunnery, if those are still a thing. When Renzo drops a arranged wife went on the run and he’s desperate to find a replacement. He wants me to marry him and carry his surrogate child for the casual sum of five million dollars. Turns out, the Rossi Famiglia is one of the five biggest mafia organizations in the city of Philadelphia, and Renzo needs an heir to maintain his legitimacy. My life can’t get worse, right? And anyway, this is just a temporary deal. Except one nighttime visit turns into two, which turns into three, and soon I can’t get him out of my bedroom.
»Alright, baby, if you want your terrible noise, you can have it.« »Wonderful. You're already a fantastic husband.«

❥ 𝑴𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒆 I liked her although she falls too fast for Renzo. She is intelligent and mostly stood her ground against him.
❥ 𝑹𝒆𝒏𝒛𝒐 He knows exactly what he wants and is ruthless when it comes to business. He treats Maddie with respect and becomes obsessed with her fast.
✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 I already read some books by the author and enjoyed them. This one was a good read too. The plot was thrilling and entertaining. Maddie and Renzo are great together. They got tension and I liked their conversations. Renzo opens up towards Maddie and it was interesting to read about his family and the burden he carries. But in my opinion there were too many random sex scenes and it was too fast considering that their relationship is fake in the beginning. I can‘t exactly name the point in the book were they fall in love because it‘s not described well. This was not the best book by B.B. Hamel but also not the worst. It‘s an enjoyable read without any super dark subjects. Overall a little over 3 stars but doesn‘t feel like a 4 star read.
𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 mafia, darkromance, possessive and protective hero, touch her and you‘ll die, fake relationship, pregnancy trope, marriage of convenience, boss x employee, past trauma
𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 ages: both mid thirties I think cheating: no sharing: no kinks: getting her pregnant
𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 Savage Little Games - Lana Hart Vengeance in Blood - Vi Carter Tempted by the Devil - Michelle Heard Relentless Devil - Kylie Kent
I typically enjoy this author’s over the top mafia books.
I took off a star for a very disturbingly inaccurate description of Plan B contraceptive. Like, shockingly bad. Like I almost DNFed bad. As someone living in post Roe/ Dobbs Texas, things like this just reinforce the ignorant and malicious attitudes that have contributed to the horrible state of reproductive healthcare here.
I grabbed this one as an ARC on Booksprout, and I'm happy I did. I liked this one. It's not perfect, but it's a great start for a new series.
It has a mix of tropes, marriage of convenience that, of course, turns into the real deal, mafia set-up, sunshine, and somehow grump. There is no real OW/OM drama, no thinking of cheating, he is truly obsessed with her since their surprise encounter in one of the offices.
She had a boyfriend at the beginning of the book, but that ends quickly and funny, actually 😂😂.
I liked his brothers and can't wait for the next books. Hope there will be more plot in the next books, curious about how the war will end.
*light dark that comes from the Mafia set-up *she has trauma from her past that he helps her with; he is so supportive 🥹🥰 *they both heal each other *I'm not sure how old they are, I think she's close to 30 years old; he might be just a few years older *spicy, of course
What I didn't like: the purring, omg, why, how, would he purr, it was awkwardly funny 😂.
I will definitely follow up on this series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was looking for a nice, easy read that I could pick up in between a series I’m reading, and this delivered. I had a couple of issues with it, but all in all I sped through it and did enjoy some parts.
My biggest issue with this book is that it feels like there was no emotional connection between the FMC and MMC. The sexual chemistry was great, but I didn’t feel like these two connected together at all outside of sex. There was also no character development for these two at all. The spicy scenes were fine, I think I would’ve preferred a few more, detailed scenes rather than the several, half baked scenes peppered throughout the book though.
Overall, it was an ok read, I loved how the beginning really hooked me but from the halfway point onwards it did feel like a bit of a drag.
This is another good read from this talented author. Just like the other books in her catalog, this is an entertaining, engaging, and addictive read.
As the head of his family, Renzo Rossi has a lot to handle. (I really want to share all of it, but I don't do spoilers! But - trust me, it's a bunch.) He's definitely a grumpy Don! His office staff keeps their distance, wisely, until Maddie's error puts her on his radar.
Maddie and Renzo begin a "marriage" that is supposed to be fake, but doesn't stay that way for long. Their steamy connection and sweet attraction kept the pages turning.
All the expected Mafia fighting and tensions we love to read from this author are here, as well as the betrayals, violence and drama of their world. There's a few unresolved issues that Renzo and his family will need to address, and I can't wait!! The HEA was sweet and expected, and I finished this one happy.
I am really looking forward to reading the next in this storyline. I enjoyed my free ARC, and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Between 2.75 and 3....it was just a LOT of sex. I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoy a spicy book probably more than most. BUT there is a point where I want MORE from a story besides just sex scenes. Like, maybe too much of a good thing situation? The mafia troupe was ok, pretty standard issue stuff and nothing really crazy. Irks: She just like quickly and easily gave up her own life and identity. Like super fast and it was not quite but close to instant love....I lost a little respect for her in this. So yeah, overall this book was just sex scenes that got a little old after a while, and some mafia moments. Not much else to it.
I liked the premise, but the how they actually become a true couple vs fake relationship was stupid. So like the last 30% was just not it. Good thing I got this for free on a stuff your kindle day?
Anytime you have the mafia and a bride who isn’t ready to be a bride yet we have a wild ride so so make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Renzo sexy as all get out Don ruthless on a good day, deadly every day, not someone you want upset with you or you want to be on his bad side currently living by old values his men, other Don’s feel in order to have stability their Don needs to be married, children so that is what he will do and add to his list his brothers, taking care of his mother who isn’t doing well, legal, not so legal business so to say he is stressed is an understatement. Madeline is sweet for the most part but living in the shadows unseen working for the real estate firm for years wearing overly large clothes making herself no so cute and one evening she caught taking selfies half naked when the boss comes in never realizing the women who wears all those clothes look like that. But the same boyfriend decides to steal her things, join a cult, leaving her with nothing she is lost especially and his fiancé who was forced to be his fiancé has disappeared these two connect but it isn’t easy, communication is part of the problem, then family has opinion about them, everything, add a war brewing and that leaves you with where are they headed, will they get the HEA or???
This was a good start to the Rossi family crime series. There wasn’t a lot of mafia action, but it was still a great read. I loved Renzo. He was the Don to his family, but had a soft heart when it came to Maddie. I enjoyed Maddie too. She had the worst luck in the beginning w/her boyfriend running off to join a cult (I was laughing at how that conversation went between them), & taking not only her car, but all her belongings too. But it happened to be the perfect timing because Renzo needed a wife. I enjoyed seeing these two go from a fake marriage to actually developing real feelings for each other. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with Saul, Allegra, and Gian! I want to know the history between Gian and Allegra.
I do love a good fake relationship story and when you add a Mafia Don and a girl not from his world it makes it so much better. This was s great book to start the series off with. I also like that it was a work place boss/ employee situation. Not meeting under the best circumstances made it all the more fun. I think Maddie and Renzo had great chemistry (even when it was meant to be fake) and she had a great connection with everyone you really couldn't help but love Maddie
So much cuter than I expected! A lot of fake marriage/ mafia romances have a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding and lying and this really didn't. Just two people being nice to each other, it was a nice palate cleanser from my usual dark romance reads.
I desperately want more about this snake cult. Please for the love of all that slithers give me a snake cult romance. I need it.
Renzo and Maddie were cute together but I didn’t feel a really deep connection. They talked about some serious things but it was otherwise very fast.
I also feel like there wasn’t a plot, or at least nothing I cared that much about? The “war” is going to be continued in the next book which made me feel more like this story didn’t stand that well on its own.
For some positives I liked Maddie coming out of her shell a bit and Renzo’s connection to his family.

She's the head office office who's very effacious at her work, everyone likes her with zero complaint from anyone. Maddie has had something very trauma that happened to her in her past, that makes her can't open up sexually her boyfriend Mark has been her one constant and they have been together for years. Their sex life is bland and when she text him they only talk about the grocery list. Mark tells her that she won't take a chance and she stuck in the past. Maddie best friend Nicole told her that her sex life is like dead fish in the bedroom and that's why things are strains and that she should send Mark some naked selfies to remain how hot she was. Maddie take off her bulky sweater that she uses to hide her gorgeous body, and shed bra contorting herself and sticking her butt in the and squeezing with her chest puckered in air mid snap when Renzo Rossi comes into the room. He was staring at lights reflecting off her naked skin, bouncing off her hard exposed nipples and lick his lips. The way how he staring and licking his lips was as if he wanted to walk up her and put one in his mouth. He even stopped looking then went to the filing cabinet and retrieve the file that he came for not before complimenting her before walking out the door. Maddie was so embarrassed while Renzo was hard, he didn't know that manager with baggy, boring sweaters could have him so lust filled with strange sense of jealous possession. Maddie send semi-nude selfie to her boyfriend and he didn't even bother acknowledge that he had received. He only called after he was miles away to tell her that he was leaving or correction he had left her and had taken her car because his wouldn't have made the trip California. Mark was her boyfriend since college broke up with her over the phone, stole her car most of her things out of the apartment and move to California to join a snake cult call Ssaranin divine. Although he suppose to get married he can't get the image of Maddie out of his head. She has taken over his thoughts and he has use her relief himself. Maddie has become even more invisible since their encounter a week ago. She's in his bloodstream and not something he have ever experienced before. It seems like one bad new after another hit Renzo because a deal that Lisa had been months Spire sold it Aslanov Bratva family. And to make matters his brother told him that soon to be fiancee is missing. She shook her security guards detail and she's now in the wind and they can't track her because she bought a bunch of plane tickets to throw off the send. Maddie was feeling mad and upset with the audacity of Mark actions and best friend Nicole came over. The two were getting drunk on a Saturday when Maddie phone rung around five o'clock from phone she didn't recognize, when she pick up it was her boss Mr. Rossi telling her that he need her to come into the office. But before he hang up he told her that he couldn't stop thinking about seeing her in half naked. Because he had caught her half naked a week ago she had been living in fear that he was going to fire her, and with phone call she thought that she definitely was having the worst luck with everything with Mark. Nicole told Maddie that it was a booty call why her boss called her and that she should dress sexy. But Maddie doesn't take risks and went as herself. When she got there Renzo invited her to eat because he had a proposition for her. He wanted her to be his fake wife and give him a heir to solidify his position as the new Don and in exchange he will pay her fifteen million dollars and they get a divorce after two years. However, Maddie laugh and declined his offer. She couldn't see herself giving birth to a child then walking away from he or she. Renzo wanted her to get a taste of what being married to him would be like, and since she had a glasses of wine and Mark tells her that she doesn't take risks she went back to his with him. The two burn up sheets in night of passion where Renzo came made sure that came inside of her three or four times. The next day Maddie went on purchase a plan B pill battle with herself in taking it. When Renzo find out he begged her not to take it. He never stopped until he wore her down into accepting his offer. Renzo thought that Maddie would be perfect for his bride because she's not apart of their world and the families would be shock when introduced her. There chemistry is electrifying and magnetic and sizzle off the pages. Their relationship was supposed to fake. But there's something about her that makes him gravitate and crave a quality that he had found in any other woman before. Then there's the Aslanov Bratva, the Russian gangsters and the the Lynch Family, the Irish. The Rossi's are most combative with the Aslanov, they all try to avoid bloodshed. But Aslanov as stolen a land deal and has been nibbling at the Rossi's territory, while the Lynch Family has been encroaching on the meth trade for months. The tension is high and will get worse war is eminent. Maddie is a small piece toward easing those tensions. Things is good on home front for Renzo but The Aslanov Bratva attempted to kidnap Maddie then they tried kill his brother Carlo Renzo had to to show them that he wasn't weak and hit them where it hurts. The war reached a fever pitch when both the Aslanov Bratva and Lynch Family was attacking the Rossi family and although the Rinaldo family and the Milano family are close to Rossi and have blood sworn to help Rossi's with war they have not offered any help.
I received an advanced copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Velvet Kingdom is the first installment in the Rossi Crime Family series penned by B.B. Hamel. In it, she chronicles the romantic journey of Madaline “Maddie” Sorrento and Renzo Rossi. Maddie is an office assistant for Renzo’s company. Due to past childhood trauma and a recent breakup with her boyfriend, Maddie assumed a hidden persona, a person in the shadows, who does not call attention to herself. Until one day, Renzo walks into a room where she is in the middle of sending a sexy photo to her boyfriend. He likes what he sees, and she soon possesses his thoughts. That disastrous day is the same one she learned her boyfriend dumped her. In Renzo’s position, as the Don, he needs a wife and his thoughts drift to Maddie. Will he persuade her to be his wife? Will there be obstacles? To find out you must read this book. Ms. Hamel does an outstanding job utilizing literary devices. Her dialog, both conversational and internal monologues are outstanding. Readers garner a better understanding of their character traits, their backstories, their pain, and their happiness. The lead characters are multi-dimensional. The secondary characters are interesting and contribute to the plot’s movement. I appreciate how she uses intrigue to enhance this character-driven romantic plot and pull her readers into this story.
This books would be a great starter book for people who just want to tip their toes into the “dark” romance world. Or someone who is bothered by triggers. There are some triggers in this books but they are VERY light compared to the normal triggers in a dark romance book. For me I thought this book had a pretty good start and it had a pretty good storyline but then it felt like the author almost got bored with the story and jumped to 6 months later and then 4 months later in the last two chapters where nothing really happened at all and I feel like so much good story could have happened during that timeframe. I think I have also gotten spoiled with other dark mafia romances and I love extreme triggers and all of the drama so for me so this one just seemed a little boring when nothing major ever happened. After the first book I decided it wasn’t work it to read the remaining 3 books in the series.
It started off strong, I found it really funny, was having a good laugh and then very quickly just became bleh. I felt like no problems got resolved, the couple went from not knowing each other to being lovey dovey too quickly. Then there’s the problems with the siblings… all seems very forced.. idk it was just average and the ending left me unsatisfied with my reading experience
So this story was okay. There are some typos and errors. Also the whole description of Plan B was just not it and off. A big issue with this book is repetitiveness and that is ultimately why I dnf'd it at 40%. It was so repetitive I just could not continue. This also came across in the author trying to tease things like something that happened to the FMC when she was 12 and she was teasing it too much.
DNF at 29%. The spice was just okay and very rushed. The dirty talk sounded like it came from a basic porno. Alsooo the nerve of the MMC to be pissed at the idea of the FMC taking a morning after pill so she doesn’t get pregnant is ridiculous. I wanted to give this a try, but it was such an ick that he was basically forcing her to become his wife even though he told her she had the choice.

This was just OK. It started out really great and then just simmered away. I thought mfc would be more damsel in distress, and the mmc would be more mafia stuff, which was very, very tame. It was a quick read, but the ending seemed very strange to me.
2.25 stars. I liked the concept but there seemed to be something missing from the writing. I can’t even just say chemistry from the characters - it was an overall feel of the book that something was missing in the writing, like the author was almost there with it, but forgot to turn it on.
MF mafia romance, stand-alone series featuring brothers starting with the oldest brother.
Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Romance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice 🌶️🌶️
Tropes: Fake marriage Mafia Boss
This was not a heavy plot or heavy in spice and not a dark mafia romance. This actually turned out to be a very sweet romance with good pacing. I really enjoyed the connection between Renzo and Maddie. The mafia stuff felt like a side plot to their relationship and not as much drama as I had expected.
Maddie’s relationship with her boyfriend Mark was boring and in a slump and she was not a risk taker due to past trauma that made her color inside the lines. She decided to “spice” things up by taking some sexy selfies. She couldn’t do it at home because her boyfriend worked from home so she was taking these pictures at work when everyone was pretty much gone for the day… or so she thought.
As she was taking the pictures of herself topless her Boss, Renzo walks in on her. She’s thinking she’ll lose her job. She’s tried to remain invisible and it worked because he didn’t notice her for the 2 years she worked there… but now he cannot get her out of his mind. He has to though, he’s the head of the family mafia and he has agreed to an arranged marriage with the head of another mafia family.
Meanwhile, Maddie sends a pic to her boyfriend whose response is, “we need to talk”… we all know what that usually means. She calls him and finds out not only is he breaking up with her but he took her car and all her belongings to move to Cali to be apart of a snake cult. She’s should be mad and she is, but due to past trauma her routines are important to her so she misses that more than the man himself.
A week goes by and Maddie gets a call at 5pm on a Saturday from Renzo and she’s worried she’s going to get fired. But instead she finds out that the arranged marriage for Renzo fell through and right now he’s struggling to gain trust from other mafia members because when he took over after his father died he cannot seem to live up to his father. His fiancé ran and this makes him look bad along with the fact the Russian mafia has stepped on his turf and he has to not look weak. He needs a marriage and an heir to prove his worth… so he believes anyway.
So he proposed a deal with her to marry him and be a surrogate for his baby for 2 years and he’s pay her 10mil and give everything she needs. She says no she doesn’t want to take any risks. When she goes to leave he convinces her to sleep with him and there’s strong sexual tension coming from both of them and they feel a spark between each other. She ends up sleeping with him.
Renzo thinks he has he hooked so after the weekend he tells his brother his plan which they don’t like at first especially when he calls her into the office. She’s a quiet, wears frumpy clothes and comes across as a pushover but she’s just trying to stay invisible. But when he asks again she tells him No in front of one of the brothers and the brother is pretty impressed with her lady balls.
When the brother leaves Renzo tells her she’s gonna marry him because she might be pregnant already since he didn’t use any protection. She threatens to take plan B but he called her out on that because she would have already over the weekend if she was going to do it. He tells her she wants it but just afraid to take the leap. He finally, in a cute way, wears her down and she agrees to the arranged marriage.
Their love connection throughout is sweet and the grow closer together and they balance each out. The agreement is that she leaves when she has the baby after 2 years. So when she finds out she’s pregnant she doesn’t tell him right away because she’s loves him and she’s scared that she’ll lose him. He figured out she’s pregnant since she’s having morning sickness and he waits for her to tell him. Trust is huge for him and he feels she betrayed him by not telling him. The day she finally resigns to tell him she is out at knife put by one of the Russian goons but escapes and is rescued by Renzo’s bodyguard… which I hope to see a future romance with Renzo’s sister… just saying.
She finally admits to him she’s pregnant and he’s just resigned with anger and hurt and he tried to distance himself. That doesn’t last long because his little sister tells him dumb he’s being because she probably loves him but has a good reason for why she didn’t tell him. His sister didn’t know about the arrangements of her leaving. He talks to her and she admits her love for him and why she didn’t tell him right away. That’s when he tells her he’s been in love with her as soon as he asked for the arrangement.
Theres a hit on one of Renzo’s brothers… the careless younger brother but fortunately he’s only shot in his leg but this means a full out mafia war. Messages are being sent back and forth mafia style. Nothing is resolved with the mafia drama in this book I’m sure that’ll continue in the other books.
There’s a cute epilogue after she has her baby boy and she’s fully past trying to stay away from risks and wants to help more with the family.

3.75stars-VELVET KINGDOM by BB Hamel is a contemporary, adult, dark, Mafia romance story line focusing on the Rossi Famiglia Don Renzo Ross, and his office assistant Madeline ‘Maddie’ Sorrento.
NOTE: due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Renzo and Maddie) VELVET KINGDOM follows the fake relationship and marriage between our story line couple. Maddie Sorrento’s boyfriend took everything the day he said they were never going to work but Maddie never expected to find herself considering her boss’s offer of a fake marriage and real pregnancy in the face of his own humiliation when the woman he was contracted to marry ran away. With no other options, and her own sense of self esteem in the proverbial gutter, Maddie accepts Renzo’s offer, an offer with an expiry date and the potential sacrifice of a child she could love. What ensues is the building relationship between Maddie and Renzo, and the fall-out when the other heads of the crime world families don’t agree with Renzo’s plans for the future.
The world building focuses on several paths including the Rossi family matriarch’s health struggles, the siblings inability to accept what will be, and the jealousy and threats inflicted upon our story line heroine. From the outset, Renzo treats Maddie with respect and love, and in this, our couple will find themselves falling in love against their original plans.
The relationship between Maddie and Renzo begins as employee and boss but desperate for an heir and internal support, Renzo offers Maddie money and marriage, a marriage that comes with an expiry date should they have a child together. Maddie refuses to leave any child behind, and a pregnancy may be the biggest threat to their growing relationship. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to the Rossi family siblings: Stefania, Carlo, Saul and Gian, as well as their mother Stella, and Renzo’s right hand man Dante; several heads of competing crime families, as well as Maddie’s friend Nicole, and housekeeper Tara. The requisite evil has many faces.
VELVET KINGDOM is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and inviting but the conflict is limited; the romance is seductive and sensitive; the characters are energetic, sassy and spirited. VELVET KINGDOM ends on a happily ever after-for now, as the main threat to the family has yet to be resolved.
Maddie Sorrento lives with her boyfriend Mark in Philadelphia, but things are strained between them. Her best friend Nicole suggests spicing things up. She is the head office manager at work. The sales manager has great lighting in her office so Maddie goes in there to take some sexy boob pictures for Mark. Renzo Rossi is her gorgeous and terrifying boss. He walks in on her photo session. He stares at her boobs, grabs a file from Lisa’s cabinet and leaves. Maddie is confused at the desire she feels for Renzo.
Renzo is confused that he is so hard so quickly just from seeing Maddie’s boobs. He didn’t realize his little office mouse had such a great body under her sweaters. He pushes his dirty thoughts aside because he is in negotiations to get engaged to Allegra Rinaldo, daughter of Don Rinaldo, to strengthen their family ties. Renzo was made the Don of the Rossi Famiglia when his father died.
Mark calls Maddie after receiving the picture and tells her he’s on his way to California in her car to join a cult. He says that she doesn’t understand him and he hopes she won’t miss the stuff. She races home to find that Mark took not only her car but anything worth a few dollars. She’s basically left with the big stuff like the furniture and television.
Renzo loses a property deal to the Russian Bratva and his supposed fiancé Allegra ditches her bodyguards and disappears. He still needs to strengthen his family, so he proposes a business deal with Maddie. Maddie marries him and has a baby with him and in 2 years, he’ll divorce her and give her enough money to live on for the rest of her life. Maddie decides to take a chance and agrees.
Loved that Maddie and Renzo complimented each other and helped each other not only physically but emotionally as well. I hope there will be more books about the Rossi family.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Troubles out the wazoo… but they live happily ever after! Renzo Rossi is the new Don of the Rossi Famiglia and he has troubles weighing on him from every angle. The local Italian families believe a Don must be a “stable man” with a wife and children, so… high on his to-do list is to find a wife and pop out a kid. Then there are his brothers Saul, Carlo, Gian, and sister Stefania… and care for his mother who’s suffering from Alzheimer’s. Oh yes, then Renzo is responsible for the family money laundering legit Real Estate business… but also for running the not-so-legit mafia businesses. He is a bit stressed. Madeline (Maddie) Sorrento has worked for Renzo’s real estate firm as a gofer for several years. She lives her life in the background, bulky drab clothes, quiet, slinking in and out unseen until, with most of the staff gone, Maddie snaps a few topless pics to send her boyfriend Mark. Renzo walks in and is in shock. Is that Maddie? Is that what’s been hiding under those ugly clothes? Maddie is a sad character. In her childhood there was a horrible tragedy that she feels was her fault and that has changed her personality, making her fearful and uncertain. When her boyfriend leaves her… takes all her stuff and joins a snake cult out west, Maddie is lost. Perfect time because Renzo’s “forced” fiancé took off for parts unknown and he needs a replacement, now. Maddie with her awesome body will do fine. There are so many complications with their relationship. Between Renzo’s family’s interference and the mafia “families” putting in their opinion and now a war brewing it is amazing that their relationship works. I LOVED sweet and caring Renzo and Maddie. The story was great, fast-paced, and interesting. I received a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout and this is my opinion. Linda
This story was so well written but it had the mafia lines to it which I like! Remio is the head Don who was suppose marry a daughter but she runs and hides so he decides Maddie will do,she is a shy little mouse. She thinks she is going to be fired when the boss calls her to come in on a Sat but he has a plan to marry Maddie, you see he caught her doing nude selves in the office and he walks in and now he can't get over what he seen. But his mouse says no and he keeps after her until she finally breaks down and says yes and he says yes to most of requests. At first she has a hard time because one his brothers is against the marriage, some Don's wasn't to thrill but Maddie put her big girl pantys on and starts making headway. Her mother comes meets her in the garden and they talk and Remio wasn't thrill about that but they both work out.Remio and Maddie are getting closer and closer and trouble is brewing and at the same time Maddie fines out she is pregnant and she thinks Remio will change if he fines out.Someone trys to take Maddie but was stop before it happens. Her pregnant clauses a few problems but they work them out and it brings them closer together. has usual this author doesn't disappoint and i look forward to more story's about this family! This does end on a happy ending!
His Permanent Substitution - The first person that came to Renzo’s mind to replace his runaway bride was Maddie, as he just couldn’t get her out of his mind after walking in on her. Even though Maddie was apprehensive when Renzo put forward his proposal, her lust-filled thought about him made her acquiesce to his request. However, what was meant to be a temporary relationship by agreement, saw their feeling for each other growing, the more time they spent together.
Unfortunately, their insecurities, family drama and failure to communicate what they really wanted neatly cost them their chance at happiness, especially when Madrid’s life was threaded and she kept a very important piece of information from Renzo. Luckily, they were able to navigate the obstacles in the path and find their way to getting the happily ever after they both deserved.
This was a fantastic story to read, that I will highly recommend to anyone who loves mafia romance stories, but in this case it had a twist. I can say without a shadow of doubt, that you can never go wrong with a B. B. Hamel book, so my question is, what you waiting for? Just go grab a copy of this book now and indulge yourself.
