You know it's going to be cuteness overload when the pairing is between a Cupid called Love and a Reaper named Death! Especially when all that pink glitter brings him so much joy.
This Valentine’s Day isn’t just about the humans I push to find their perfect match. No, this Valentine’s Day I feel some hope for myself. I spread so much love around, it’s about time I got my own taste, at the minimum at least some dirty, messy lust.
Love may have initially asked Death to accompany her to the annual Cupid's Valentine's Ball out of spite, but who knew that Death could be so warm and fuzzy? Even Reapers get lonely you know.
Witty, cute and perfectly sexy, Petty Cupid was spicy goodness. Who doesn't enjoy a broody, daddy hero and a glittery cupid eager to get her kink on? 🩷🩷

Our FMC, Love, is a cupid with a problem. Potentially problems, plural. Still dealing from an unfortunate romance with Eros, her boss and another cupid, not only is Love tending to her healing emotional wounds, but her work performance has suffered because of it.
And now, with Cupidale’s Valentine’s Day Ball, the Love New Year for cupids, right around the corner, Love is left dateless and humiliated. What’s a petty cupid to do, other than hatch a revenge plot and bring the hottest other-veiler she can find as her date? She doesn’t want Eros back, of course. She just wants to get him back. It’s different! And maybe, perhaps, with her cupid duties of fulfilling true love every day, she may yearn for that a little herself, but that’s a different story…
Enter dominant daddy Death, grim reaper extraordinaire and our MMC. He agrees to Love’s plan surprisingly easily, in exchange for the use of 3 of her cupid arrows. This kicks off a surprisingly sweet romance, where Love and Death begin to learn that perhaps they aren’t so different after all. Maybe they even… need each other?
Sarah Blue really leans into the fun of the theme, bringing a slightly campiness and modernity to the paranormal romance genre. This can definitely walk a fine line sometimes. New adult is a great genre example where this balance is either done shockingly right or cringey wrong. (This isn’t a new adult novella, BTW, this is firmly adult!) Aside from a playlist at the front of the story, the author has to have a deft hand when using real-world elements or actual songs in a paranormal genre. Some of this was a miss for me here. I think a lot of the references couldn’t definitely been trimmed to make this a more seamless experience, without losing the spirt of the story.
I also think that if you’re going to bring an element of self-awareness to these types of campy romps, for example, having a third-act break-up happen and a secondary character say something like “ugh, this is why I don’t read third-act break-up novels!” This can only work if the book itself doesn’t actually use the third-act break-up trope genuinely. Can’t be self-aware if you’re self-aware but complicit, right? Haha. That was actually a pretty accurate example from the book. The third-act break-up also happened over the stupidest miscommunication, and that’s even commented on in the book’s dialogue by the secondary character too. If they don’t like it, the reader won’t want to read about it either!
If the miscommunication that led to the third-act break-up was trimmed out and the relationship development just continued on its momentum, this would’ve been a stronger story overall. Closer to 5 stars actually. Because the romance and connection between Love and Death was actually extremely sweet and entirely readable. Their sexual and emotional chemistry jumps off the page, and the spice is hot, hot, hot. There’s probably a little something for everyone, but if you’re a sucker for a spanking Daddy, then THIS IS FOR YOU PERSONALLY.
But even beyond the spice, I was actually touched by Love and Death’s sweetest with each other. In their own ways, and their own professions, so many of their core morals coincide, and you can really see as a reader how their connection works and will probably work for all eternity.

But I can tell you there is no love lost between the two, on either side. No one is pining for the other back. Love is honestly just really hurt and humiliated and wants to see Eros the same way. There's a reason this is called PETTY Cupid haha. So I wouldn’t consider this OM drama at all in the romantic sense. More just like a plot device

A super fun twist with a female Cupid and a Reaper, Love who is a Cupid sparks up an arrangement with Death who is a Reaper to escort her as her date to the Love New Year Celebration. The chemistry between them is effortless and with a character called Death you would think this man is dull/sad/morbid but he is completely the opposite and a perfect match for Love with all her pink and glitter and her hopeless romantic personality. This man literally barely knows Love and already defends her, celebrates her, protects her and it's so sweet to see.
I loved it all a little treat for upcoming Valentines Day!

I went into his book for Daddy Death, the Reaper. Listen up, and I have a confession to make. I have a major reaper kink, even more so than for mask men. My best friend even nicknamed me the Reaper. Whenever I come across a reaper MMC, I am all in for reading about it.
What should Cupid do when faced with the dilemma of attending the Valentine's Day ball alone while being nominated for an award and having to face their narcissistic ex with their new partner?
Well, you become petty and lie you are bringing someone. Love is desperate and decides to go outside her realm to find her date.
Love is hysterical and shows no fear when approaching the angels and asking a particular question. Priceless. Death is a handsome reaper tired of loneliness and instantly attracted to love.
Petty Cupid Is a fun, quick, and spicy read. The only criticism is I wanted more. But it’s okay. That is what rereads are for.

Poor poor love was at first a naive cupid when she dated the boss now that she was dumped, her eyes opened. And good for her she doesn't love the dude, but she was humiliated, and she's petty! She wants to rub it in his face she moved on.
And she does, but it takes her a minute to find herself a date to the cupid ball she asked around but didn't find one until she meets Death, aka Reaper. And he checks off all her boxes, and im so glad she was up front to him about why she wanted a date, and he did ask for a favor for the date. But the more they spent together, the more the feelings grew. And let's say cupids Ball was a ball!!
But don't worry, there is some tiny miscommunication drama.. and dealing with the ex. 🥰

Nope. From the awful, nonsensical plot to cringy sex scenes just... No. This just reminded me that I really hate smut/erotica because the writing is always really, really bad with no substance at all. Don't go into this thinking it'll be a nice little romance about a cupid and death falling in love, because it's essentially just Daddy kink.

This was so much fun! It was also sexy AF and it was absolutely PINKALICIOUS! I loved everything about this story. Death was adorable (two words I thought would never go together LOL), and Love was the sweetest Cupid to ever steal his heart. Sarah's writing is honestly some of my favorite because of the humor she brings to her writing. If you are looking for a fast-read that will have you smiling and laughing but also is hot af - this is the one!

What an absolutely wonderful paranormal, Valentine’s Day romance that had me feeling ALL kinds of ways 🤭❤️ I had the best time reading it & enjoyed all the fun & revenge-focused journey eventually lead Love to finding Daddy Death hehe

Super fluffy cute novella
This was about as low stakes as you can get with a romance. Love was a sunshiney petty Cupid with Death as her ever so slightly surly counterpart. They had all the chemistry and a good third of the book was smut.
Recommend if you need something cozy.

A fun novella about a fully pink cupid called love falling for a grim reaper called death. I laughed a lot, it was just so funny. For sure gonna read the other books.

4.5 ⭐️ The Perfect Valentine's Day Paranormal Novella!
I've read my fair share of Valentine's Day books -I'm a holiday mood reader, what can I say?- and this one might be one of my favourites ever! This book tells the story of how a sweet, albeit petty af, Cupid named Love (FMC) finds a lovely Grim Reaper called Death (MMC) to enact her slightly petty revenge plan on her ex.
The names of the main characters should already give away that this is by no means a serious read, but it was so, so fun! I love books about Cupids, and I feel like I'm only in the mood to explore them as paranormal entities around February. It's been a good few years now since I started this tradition of reading as many Valentine's Day books as I can as this -admittedly odd- holiday approaches, and I love it! This one did not disappoint.
As the characters themselves have no problem reminding everyone, this book is an Opposites Attract, kind of Grumpy/Sunshine, Age Gap Romance with the Size Difference Trope, the Miscommunication Trope (unfortunately) and absolutely the Insta-Lust Trope. It's kind of Insta-Love too, but not as much.
I also really enjoyed the side characters and I'm glad this didn't have an open ending. I feel like sometimes with these kinds of novellas, authors try to leave info out about some of the side characters to peak the interest of the readers and leave the possibility of a future second instalment dangling like juicy bookish bait. And I usually don't mind it when that's the case, but I noticed here how much I loved that this ending is THE ending. Everything is nice and tied up in a pretty, little bow, with no loose strings!
All in all, I'm so happy I picked this book up to celebrate Valentine's Day 2024!

LOVE the pink cupid goes on the hunt for a date to the Valentines Day Ball after her ex breaks up with her. She tries the angels and ghosts, only to end up at a hospital with heart eyes for the grim reaper there collecting a soul.
What starts off as a revenge plot to make her ex jealous and regret his actions, turns into finding a true love match. Daddy Death is a big softy and a bit lonely but get under those black robes and you find this smokin hot guy. He's instantly questioning why he would do anything for this little cupid. The chemistry is thick with these two. Both unable to deny the attraction.
Definitely recommend for a quick paranormal romance this holiday.
