The hits just keep on coming. War is on the horizon. And here I stand in the middle as if I could do something about it. Do I get a break? Of course not. Now I have to deal with past trauma in the form of a berserker, a psycho, and an immortal. I have to find the missing. I have to keep a demon and a dragon from tearing apart their mate bond. And build an army to shore up our side of the war. I need a coffee.
Well, might change it to three stars later. I have no idea why King is giving orders and tells her to obey, like who tf are you? And she follows it and says sorry too much for a “badass” The “consent” thing gets so old, omg the thing that i font control bonded a dude without asking him first, consent hello? 🙄 give me a break. And if we are speaking of consent and how she is so adamant about it, why does she allow the almost strangers say and do with her whatever they want? Make it make sense, on consent only works one way? I have no idea why people like Mitri, he did nothing for her, yet she likes him, is it because he is emotionally unavailable? I think so. Mal is like a child, King has no authority, but he thinks he has, Kimi is just existing, Aodhan is good, Ben is the mature one.
This is taken directly from my notes at the end of book 1, Bonding Psychos: "I don't know WTF I just read, but it's like a dizzying carnival ride that I don't want to end."
Please note that the following review is for the SERIES, not each individual book.
First off, this series hit all of my happy buttons. Plot? ✅️ Character driven? ✅️ Unpredictable? ✅️ Large harem? ✅️ Geeky? ✅️ Funny? ❌️ - this wasn't funny. It was freakin hysterical. Hawt? ✅️ (but know going in, this is a glacial burn series. The smut takes a long time to arrive, but when it does? Im advising you now - batteries or cold showers.)
I saw the series recommended on Facebook, and the title of the first book (Bonding Psychos) alone piqued my interest. I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. And I wouldn't change a thing. However, I tend to fall into the morally gray camp, so even if I could succinctly summarize the plot (which I can't), I wouldn't.
The plot is … phenomenal doesn't even come close. I cannot even begin to write a synopsis. Trust me, bro. Read it. The world building is mind blowing, and I can't think of another romance series that has this depth of character development. In some regards, this is almost more urban fantasy than romance, but the relationship building that winds through the story is delicious. And Bea? A pure delight for such a chaotic good character. (For those who aren't in the know about character alignments, she is just on the “good” side of morally gray.)
All in all, chef's kiss. I'm off to see what other adventures Gina Morris has written!
Oh yes, we got spicy Ben times! Woo hoo! This is the most insane book series I’ve ever read, one minute I’m laughing, especially at Vendetta and Kimi, the next I’m crying. It’s like being on an emotional rollercoaster. I want Bea bonded and happy, preferably to Mitri, Mal and Aodhan. I also don’t trust the human!
So finally we had some romance. There was even a little bit of smut with Ben and he became the lovely mate I knew he would be. Mal and King were such idiots, they loved and resented each other probably equally after everything that happened with GV, and both are stubborn enough to not talk things out. The fact that they were both drawn towards Beatrice made it even a bigger mess than it already was. Kimi was his normal insane self, Mitri was a psycho that cared and I begin to think that he may be good for Beatrice in the end ;) Aodhan was still too much on the periphery of everything, but he seemed like a pretty good guy, he clearly cared for Beatrice since their time in the labs and even though he was still unsure of the bonding and all the mess around Bea he felt deeply for her. I hoped that we would have more relationships established in this one, with just two books left I worry just how rushed the rest of them will feel.
Things are heating up! Will Beatrice finally let her guard down and feed sparky the way they both want? The goddess is trying to make moves. War, the missing, learning, and relaxing enough to commit! (Auto correct changed commit to vomit! That’s hilarious as it’s exactly Beatrice’s point of view!) And hey! Kimi threatens someone with Barbecue sauce! A nod to another infamously crazy Kimi! If you know, you know! On to the next book! It’s only 2:30 in the morning!
We have romance, minimal spice, and plot progression, people, this is not a drill! It’s no surprise that I found this book much more enjoyable. The author seems to have found her writing groove now and I even laughed out loud a few times. I’m still not a fan of the pacing or seemingly dropped or muddled convos meant for “diversionary tactics” but this book definitely seemed to flow better than its predecessors.
I actually love books I can’t predict - and this is 10 for 10 on the unexpected scale. This series ebbs and flows through a mass of crazy….. and I can’t seem to stop getting enough.
I am SO excited I found this author, she writes a story that builds relationships, dives deep into human truths and keeps the reader engaged. This series has made it to a favorites list and I read a large volume of books. Thank you Gina!
You know when you do the math about how many plot lines are left to resolve versus pages in the book? I feel like the calculations for this series are not in my favor.
2.5⭐️ Ben is the only good thing that happens in this book. “Romance” who is she? There is no romance. Minimal plot progress, hopefully we get some actual momentum in the next book.
4.25 ⭐️/2 🌶️—Four books in and finally it’s getting spicy. I’m not sure how many books are in the series, but I hope the romance with the other characters won’t now be hurried in the last two books.
This series was really good! Easy to lose yourself in the world created. Loved each book in this series and can’t wait to explore this author’s other books.
