Years ago, instant attraction and burning passion led Jenelle Cruz and Lucas Cullen into a tumultuous, sizzling marriage. It seemed that mutual passion was doomed to burn out in the face of doubts and their different lifestyles. After a separation, the disillusioned couple file for divorce. Jenelle pours her energy into building her brand and Lucas is determined to settle into a nice, quiet, loveless relationship. But circumstances--and meddling siblings--will throw them back together in the most unexpected of situations. Old desires are rekindled, but can Jenelle and Lucas get over their troubled past and find a perfect future?
That's me, in short. I've been writing since elementary school and won my first prize in seventh grade. I am a romantic at heart and love a happy ending! Join me on this writing (and reading) journey--you won't be disappointed!
This story is right up my alley!!! I love a good second chance romance ! Characters were well developed and although there were different POVs it didn't take away from the main couple
I did like the concept of the main storyline between Janelle and Lucas, it’s just that there was so much back and forth I grew frustrated with both parties! In true Elle Kayson fashion, there were multiple storylines unfolding at once and I enjoyed each of them. At first I didn’t like how the story was told in 3rd person but then I realized I got multiple POVs in one chapter and could see the other person’s reaction instantly instead of having to wait for a separate chapter to start. Spice level was 3/5. Not one of my favorites but I still love Elle Kayson and will continue to finish her catalog.
Communication is key. But what people forget is that it involves talking, listening, understanding, and excepting what the other person is saying. That can be hard at times. But it has to be practiced and worked at. Jenelle and Lucas are examples of American relationships that we see everyday. The book was good.
Another hit from this author for me. The author's writing style kept me hooked and entertained, there was never a dull moment in this story, and I absolutely loved it. The chemistry, attraction, and love between Lucas and Janelle was undeniable whenever they were in the same room with each other, and I couldn't get enough of them. Their family and friends were amazing, and I enjoyed all of them, I even liked Dominique. This story gives us more than one couple in this romance read and I want more of the side characters stories. I have a feeling Daniel and Dominique would make a heck of a couple and he's the man to give her exactly what she needs. I also want more of Zaire and Miles, Kenya & Ikenna along with the rest of the sister's stories. This second chance romance story was funny, steamy, sweet, had a little drama and a sweet ending. This is the type of book that has me wanting to read every book this author has written hoping that they will be just as amazing as this one.
Elle Kayson never misses with any of her stories that she writes. This is the best second chance romance I have so far this year. Repairing a broken marriage has its work cut out for Jenelle and Lucas. I'm not sure how this couple even discussed divorce and lived apart for so being that neither made preparations to settle into a new life of singleness. The heart wants what it wants and the Cullens never fell out of love they just needed the help of their family to help them to see that their love was still alive. If you are looking for a well developed story, where you get immersed into the lives of the FMC and MmC, I highly suggest you read Elle Kayson's catalog.
This was a great read! I really enjoyed it. Not only did we get a second chance marriage but we got a lot of family values and morals within this book.
The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars if because it got really repetitive towards the end... like I was at the point of irritation.
The two main characters were their own worst enemy. They ruined the relationship by trying to be too perfect for each other... worrying more about what the other thought than taking what was being said as true. It just got to the point that I was like "alright now.... hell".
The saddest parts to me.. -miscommunication and obvious love between Jenelle and Lucas -when David returned and Zaire and Lucas’ reactions. -when Egypt sang in church bringing us all into tears, especially the way David cried out for his wife -when Lucas told David how Jenelle loss Ethan
The parts that made me smile - when Lucas dumped Dominique -when Lucas got jealous over Raoul -when Jenelle found out she was pregnant
I really loved this story and the ending. I hope there’s a book for Mikes and Zaire.
Chile, Jenelle and Lucas went on a journey! They truly had to get out of their own way to find their happily ever after. The different splits, while realistic, got to be a bit much after awhile and took me out of the story, but it ultimately served a bigger purpose.
It was nice to have perspectives from most of the characters and to weave some of the secondary characters’ plots throughout the book. It made the narrative that more interesting and dynamic.
Think I found my second favorite Elle Kayson book. If you like Before I Let You Go, but needed the couple to be wealthy, egotistical and messy than this is for you. So many characters to keep up with, but the family dynamic was rich and heartwarming. So glad I picked this one up.
I love the way that Jenelle loved Lucas and his sisters. Although they both throw me crazy with trying to find a way back to each other. Honestly hoping that Jade gets her story and Daniel as well.
Loved this story and the fight for love! When everyone around you can see the love two people have for each other…you start to think everyone can’t be wrong. I’m just waiting for the next book
These two characters needed marriage and grief counseling in the worst way! They never really addressed any of their issues head-on. The book was good, but definitely had the potential to be great.

This story had me playing hooky at work. I was hooked from beginning to end. Loved it so much. They would have greatly benefited from therapy but hey🤷🏾♀️
