Danny and Alexis’ Story Continues

Danny is trying everything in his power with words and actions to talk Alexis out of marrying Brooks. About the time I thought that there wasn’t anyone as bad as Alexis’s father Danny’s father comes crawling out of the woodwork and everything turns up another notch on this crazy ride.

We are down to only minutes before the wedding is to begin and I can’t wait to see which way Alexis is . going to turn. The whole story of Danny and Alexis has kept me on the edge of my seat.

Sadly, I'm part of the minority on this one and will be pulling the plug on this series. Could this author drag this out any more? My God!! I can't even believe there's 2 more freaking books left! This entire 5 book series could've been condensed into 1 freaking book!!

Alexis..... girl!!!! Sweet Lord baby Jesus....you're freaking 28 years old!!! What the actual fuck girl?! My God this is book 3 and this chick STILL can't make a decision to save her life! I mean seriously.....what in the Britney loving Spears is she thinking??!!! Geez! I just want to smack her in the face with a 2x4!

And then there's Danny. DUDE! GROW SOME BALLS AND TAKE YOUR LIFE BACK!!! How can you be so desperate?! No one is worth sneaking around or waiting for someone who's marrying someone else! She refuses to call it off and you're STILL waiting for this chick like a little puppy! Pull yourself together man and have a little pride by kicking her ass to the curb!

3.75⭐️/ 3🌶️

Danny and Alexis’s story continues in this story as things became even more difficult for the two lovers. Danny and Alexis had a lot of obstacles to overcome in order to be together from a fake engagement/ marriage that Alexis had no choice, but to go along with for the sake of her freedom to both of them sneaking around in secret to have moments together, things weren’t ever simple for Alexis and Danny. With yet another cliffhanger from the previous book, it set off another chain of events that put the pressure on Alexis and Danny, and tested their relationship again and again. This sports romance was fast paced, easy to follow along, and with tropes from bad boy/good girl, friends to lovers, athlete/pop star, steamy romance, and likable characters.

I swear Danny and Alexis couldn’t catch a break! Just when things look to be lightening up or having a sweet moment, reality then crashes, and reminds both Danny and Alexis that their lives together were only going to get harder.

I will say that with Alexis going along with the fake engagement/marriage made me feel bad for her because, she was literally being blackmailed, manipulated, and forced into it by her own dad! At every point when the impending marriage to Brooks came up, I just held onto the hope that Alexis or Danny would find a way to prevent it from happening. Regardless of Alexis thinking that getting a divorce later would settle everything, I had my doubts that it would all tie up nicely. Alexis and Danny just wanted to be together, plain and simple. Whereas, Alexis’s dad wanted make the merger happen, he guilted her into going along with his plans by any means necessary like, emotional blackmail.

Man this book was just filled with lots of drama for the two love birds. Again, more drama, more obstacles, and unexpected surprises that made life more difficult for Danny and Alexis. From the emotional manipulation to outright blackmail, Alexis and Danny’s dad were most definitely not fathers of the year, but more like trash of the year! Ugh, the Dad’s in this book really made me mad. Although, I was also getting frustrated with Alexis at some points too. I understand the complicated situation that Alexis was in, but for her to be like, “I don’t want to marry him”, but then when offered a potential solution from Danny, she refused and said she couldn’t do that, it made Alexis to me seem like she couldn’t make up her mind. Compared to the other books, this one focused a bit more on the complicated nature of Danny and Alexis’s relationship and future together. As always, there was yet another cliffhanger that ended in a dramatic fashion, and left me wanting to know what Alexis would do next. If you like fast paced, quick sports romances with some spice, little bit of drama, and likable characters, then you should give this book/ series a read.

On Deck is the third book in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series and cannot be read as a standalone.

This picks up where Caught Looking left off, and things are escalated for Alexis’s situation. She and Danny are still trying to be together, sneaking around, but…Danny’s father shows up.

Wow, I HATED Danny’s father. He’s a real POS. And honestly, Alexis’s father isn’t that great either.

Alexis and Danny clearly love each other, and the sneaking around is definitely getting to them. Danny is understandably upset with Alexis’s father’s manipulation…and he tries to make a last-ditch effort to stop it.

But this ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Can’t wait to read Bases Loaded, the next book in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded Series.

On Deck- Lisa Suzanne

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

The amount of drama that is stirring in this one has caused so much anxiety for Danny and Alexis. This is on brand for Lisa Suzanne, but this series, and this book in particular, is the worst I’ve felt the anxiety for the characters and what she’s putting them through. The suspense and the drama is coiling a knot in my stomach and making me feel just as suffocated as Alexis does. I can’t wait to see how the next couple books pan out to see who gets their happy ending and who doesn’t.

On Deck is the second book that follows on from Scoring Position. Danny and Alexis’s story continues from the cliffhanger from the previous book. I found the story fast paced but easy to follow full of drama and unexpected surprises. I quite enjoyed reading this book and once again it ended on a cliffhanger making me want to read the next one.

This are heating up for Alexis and Danny. As they navigate the ups and downs of their secret relationship. Book 3 delivers with the spice while adding in the drama. Things are starting to pile up between an impending wedding and some old fashioned blackmail. We also get some moments with the boys as Danny talks with Cooper and Rush. I love seeing these 3 together. I'm excited and nervous to see what happens next.

This story frustrates me. The girl is dumb and the man deserves better.

Okay I've decided that reviewing this in pieces (aka per novella and not as a full story after all novellas are read) is tough because this novella really just made me so mad, but if you look at it as i'm 3/5 done with a full book this part of the story pissing me off is "normal" and par for the course.

The story so far is a little annoying in the sense that Alexis is really getting on my last nerve. She know she's being manipulated yet she continues to let it happen. Danny also knows he and her are both being manipulated and gaslit and blackmailed but also doesn't do anything to stop it.

They're both in their mid to late 20s and should know better by now. I just don't know if I have it in me to get to the HEA, but at the same time, with everything going on with the fake fiance, her dad, his dad, her family, her bodyguard, and some other stuff...I kinda just want to know how it all ends at this point.

Not sure if I'll be hate listening or if I'll just be listening to the part of the story that normally makes me go crazy even in full-length books.

Is this girl for Real? is Danny Seriously ok with this nonsense!?
I just can’t wrap my head around what Alexis is asking of Danny.. she plans.. no..agreed to go ahead with her manipulative father ask..wait.no. Command,
Alexis father is terrible and the man slated to marry her Brooks isn’t any better, yet this girl is hiding Danny like a dirty secret and agreeing to crap.
I’m sure if this was reversed she would have none of this crappy nonsense. This is just one big mess.

Now Danny is worried about who he is seen with and agreeing to wait, what in the alternate universe is happening while this girl is preparing to say I freaking Do!
Alexis is convinced that by agreeing to do this things it will ensure her freedom and her dreams .. that to me doesn’t seem to include Danny at all.

✨Things just got a whole lot more complicated when Danny’s dad… what .. no sperm Donor aka shitty excuse for a dad shows up wanting .. no expecting from Danny what he thinks he’s entitled to.
WTAF!
Another despicable human being just when I thought two was enough Lisa Suzanne decided to elevate my blood pressure by adding one more scum of the earth .. Jesus this man.. how could anyone do something so despicable to their son is beyond me.

But lord have mercy… as things get more complicated and intense Avery Reid and Scott Rose gave an heartfelt performance of the two sad lovers, they did an incredible job!

heck, this is definitely Tangled the Disney movie with a twist where in this one her father and his are the “Bad Guy”.

Alexis and Danny's secret relationship bleeds into a 3rd book, and it doesn't get any easier or any better for them.
There seems no way out of the mess they are in, they still can't be together exclusively and the stakes keep getting higher.
This book begins were the last book ended were Alexis runs to her father's aid when he falls ill ending up in hospital.Despite their conflict she does love her Father he is all the family she has left, and he helped her with her career for all these years.
But he uses his ill health to manipulate Alexis into marrying Brooks,a man she doesn't love, all because her Dad wants a merger with Brooks family's company with his.
Alexis agrees out of guilt and Obligation but her heart belongs to Danny the man she is having a secret relationship with.
Danny is devestated knowing that the woman he has fallen in love with is marrying someone else, and he has to find a way to stop her from marrying Brooks.
Danny is such a sweetheart he still wants Lexi, and vows to wait for her as long as it takes ,for her to divorce Brooks after a year,so they can finally be together.
This badboy of Baseball has definately changed from book 1..
It seems like everything is going against Danny and Lexi in this story and I felt so bad for them.Listening I just wanted them to be together, but they can't all because of Lexi's Dad.
Then another curve ball happens and Danny's Dad enters the picture and not in a good way,he is just as bad as Lexi's father.
The Dad's in this book are awful using blackmail and manipulation on their own flesh and blood to get what they want.
Danny's dad is hiding a secret and uses blackmail to extort money from Danny and threatening his relationship with Lexi.
Once again the Amazing voices of Avery Reid and Scott Rose bring these characters to life and take us through the romance and turmoil that is Alexis and Danny's love story.
I Love listening to them narrate these books and they do it perfectly.
The main thing I noticed about this story was the complete trust and friendship Danny and Lexi have built up between them...Because their trust is tested many times but the faith they have in eachother and their relationship is really beautiful.
The Love they share is very special...But Danny's patience is waning as the wedding day approaches will he be able to stand on the sidelines and watch the woman he loves say "I Do " to another man when it should be him.
Ending on another cliffhanger as Alexis is having a dilemma, and I can't wait to see what she will decide to do..I know what I want her to choose...!!
Lisa Suzanne writes each book so uniquely and captivating it is hard to put down,I cannot wait to see how this will all end.
Amazing book and captivating writing along with Fantastic Narration makes this a wonderful edition to this series.

“The secrets, lies, and sneaking around are already getting tiresome, and we’ve just barely gotten off the ground.”

4.25 ⭐️

Picking up from the cliffy of book 2 Caught Looking, author Lisa Suzanne has jumping right back into Danny and Alexis’s ongoing story with book 3 On Deck from Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series.

It was only a matter of time before the bubble Danny and Alexis were living in would burst. And On Deck ensured that!
With all the secret, lies, deceit with sneaking around was it any surprise the narrative would have drama ensuing and that too from some conflict that was to be had.
Whether it be from family members or outsiders it was there bringing tensions to a high given the turmoil of the situations for both Danny and Alexis.
Ultimately resulting in putting them through their paces given what they faced and had to deal with, particularly in the decision making needed to be made in regards to not only their personal individual lives. But also within their relationship considering the bumps that came along the way leading to some ups and downs.
Even more so from the surprising twists and turns that came into play, some of which were totally out of left field, in which author Lisa had you caught completely off guard by.

Despite feeling sorry for Alexis at times, it can't be denied that she had me disliking her too at times throughout given her selfishness with not really taking Danny and his feelings into perspective in the situation and where they stood. She also frustrated me too.
The fact that despite being a grown woman, how she could still be blind to the manipulation and emotional blackmail by her father is beyond me. Even when questioning it, how she chose to be ignorant and sweep it under for silly reasons was mind blowing to me.
It honestly had me wanting to shake her to see sense, more so knowing that even with others pointing it out, she still chose to push it aside.

The rollercoaster ride that author Lisa Suzanne delivered with On Deck had me hooked, more so than any of the previous books from the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series in comparison.
From the ongoing narrative development, alongside the further exploration within Danny and Alexis’s characters that bought about some very steamy moments, whilst building up the suspense from ongoing drama and turmoil. This story packed a fulfilling ongoing storyline in what turned out to be a real page turner.
Which is why it was no surprise that Lisa Suzanne had you falling in from the enjoyment with continuing to follow Danny and Alexis’s ongoing journey.
And with that cliffhanger, book 4 Bases Loaded could not come fast enough.

Omg-omg-omg!!! This series will be the death of me. The suspense is unreal. I think I need to send Lisa Suzanne the bill for my Xanax after reading this series. Giiiirl! Seriously?! I was literally on the edge of my seat as I speed-read this book. Typically at this point in a story, there's a bit of a lull before things blow up. But here? Nah-ah. Nope, not happening. Lisa was just like, "Hold my beer, let me blow some $hit up!"

And blow some stuff she did - namely my mind and nerves.

This is the third book in the story of Danny and Alexis and I've said it before and I'll say it again, this might just be my favorite Lisa Suzanne book thus far... oof that's a hard choice though... ok for safety let's just say it safely sits in my top 3.

Up until now we got to know Danny and Alexis, we know he's a pro baseball player and she's the hottest singer in the world. He's the bad boy of baseball and she's America's sweetheart. But when they met, well let's just say that the attraction was combustible. Fast forward, they enter into a secret relationship because Alexis is pretending to date Brooks, her assistant/handler/manager-of-sorts for her image, but in the book before this, her father (who's been her manager since she was 16) basically said she needed to marry Brooks for further appearance reasons as well as for this merger he desperately wants. For the reader, this whole thing is so frustrating but we feel for Alexis and how trapped she feels. And in this book that scenario is playing out as the days tick down to the wedding. As if that weren't bad enough, Lisa has thrown in some serious - SERIOUS - curveballs into this one. And let me tell you that when I say that I don't think I've HATED a character as much as a new character introduced in this book... like, I'm fuming just thinking about this character! .... so yes, this book has certainly evoked every emotion ranging from laughter and joy to complete and utter hatred, plus of course some hot-hot smexy scenes that will have you panting!

That all said, of course I cannot go into specific details in this book! Are you nuts?! Nothing here is revealing to this book, but for anyone looking to read this you'll OF COURSE read books #1 and #2 first and when you get here - let me tell you!!! - prepare yourself. This book... just omg!

On Deck (Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded #3) by Lisa Suzanne is part three of a five-part contemporary sports romance serial and ends with a cliffhanger. Told in first person dual POV, this installment includes the following tropes: celebrity (pop star w/ baseball player), instalove, and forbidden romance. The story follows the relationship between bad-boy professional baseball player Danny Brewer and “America’s Sweetheart” pop princess Alexis Bodega after they meet when she performs the National Anthem on Opening Day.

This book picks up right where the previous one ended, with Alexis rushing off from Thanksgiving dinner with Danny and his family to the hospital where her father has just been admitted. In true form, her father uses his health scare to manipulate Alexis into moving up her wedding date to Brooks. If that wasn’t bad enough, Danny’s scumbag father has acquired evidence of their relationship and is using it to blackmail Danny.

Alexis doesn’t want to go through with the wedding, but she doesn’t see any way out. Danny doesn’t understand why she can’t just marry him instead and take their relationship public. With the wedding only minutes away, Alexis must make a choice. Will she follow her father’s wishes? Or will she follow her heart?

I enjoyed this third installment of Alexis and Danny’s story, but I must admit, Alexis is starting to frustrate me. For somebody who supposedly feels trapped and forced into a fake engagement (soon to be an actual marriage for business purposes), she’s certainly not doing anything to find a way out of the situation. She could seek legal council, or she could have another agent evaluate her contract, but she hasn’t. The truth is, she hasn’t lifted a finger to free herself. Does she really want her freedom?

Danny, on the other hand, has been coming up with ideas and offering suggestions, but they all require Alexis’s agreement and cooperation, so he’s out of luck. I hope Alexis finds her backbone in the next installment, because I’m growing tired of her doormat routine. The cliffhanger left her facing a choice. Looking forward to seeing what happens in part 4.

On Deck is the third book in the new Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded Series ⚾🔥⚾

Lisa takes us on another emotional rollercoaster. Twists, turns & all the upside downs. Caution...Bumpy ride ahead! 💥

She has a way of slowly turning us inside out. Wrenching our hearts so tight before she makes everything right again. And the villains? Don't get me started on the villains... Especially when they're the people who are supposed to protect you. Ughhhhhhhh.

After spending some much needed quality time with Danny and his family, Alexis finds herself ripped from the safety of his arms when a health scare with her father has her leaving Las Vegas in a blink. Scared & unsure, she spirals with bad thoughts and massive guilt.

With the reminder that life is entirely too short, the "wedding" is moved to the forefront. A wedding to the absolute wrong person. Just a matter of weeks away and life becomes completely turned upside down.

Insecurities & doubts are running high. Emotional blackmail & manipulation. Deceit, Lies & Betrayal.

Heartbreak... So much heartbreak. 💔😭

Danny is determined to be there for her, to be waiting for her at the end of it all. But how much is too much? When he finally finds "the one", he can't truly be with her, not the way he should be. As he wars with his own inner demons, he tries so hard to remain strong for Alexis. But who's strong for Danny? He's so much more than the media perceives him to be & deep inside? He's still a broken child 😭

Danny has already proven that he'd move heaven and earth for Alexis, but what is she doing for him? Will she find the strength to stand up to her father before it's too late? Will she fight for Danny just as hard?

With pressures and surprising outside forces pushing in on them from both sides, will they crumble or will they old strong together?

Door number one, or door number two...which one will she choose?

Lisa Suzanne's "On Deck" is an electrifying installment in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series, delivering a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense that will leave readers on the edge of their seats. As a long-time fan of Lisa's work, I can confidently say that this book holds one of the most captivating cliffhangers in her repertoire.

The story continues to follow the tumultuous relationship between Alexis and Danny, as they navigate through a maze of challenges and obstacles. In this installment, Alexis finds herself torn between her love for Danny and the manipulative schemes of her father, whose health issues serve as leverage to coerce her into making life-altering decisions.

Danny's own struggles intensify with the resurgence of his estranged father, whose sinister intentions cast a dark shadow over their lives. Blackmailed and cornered, Danny races against time to thwart his father's malicious plans and salvage his relationship with Alexis.

Suzanne expertly weaves together themes of love, loyalty, and betrayal, drawing readers deeper into the intricate web of emotions that envelop the characters. The tension mounts with each page turn, culminating in a heart-stopping finale that will leave readers clamoring for more.

Drawing from the insightful perspectives of previous reviewers, particularly the detailed analyses of the characters' inner conflicts and the anticipation surrounding their pivotal choices, "On Deck" emerges as a standout addition to the series.

In conclusion, "On Deck" is a must-read for fans of romance, suspense, and intricate storytelling. Lisa Suzanne continues to prove herself as a masterful storyteller, effortlessly blending drama and romance into a captivating narrative that will linger in readers' minds long after the final page. With its gripping storyline and unforgettable cliffhanger, this book cements its place as a standout in the Vegas Heat series.

Also, Danny’s dad shows up and does some very dirty, underhanded things and finds out he is secretly seeing Alexis and begins to blackmail Danny for money to keep their secret. Danny’s dad is one very horrible, bad man. Danny keeps all these “daddy issues” from his mom and it tears him apart. He hires a private investigator to find out where his dad has been for so many years and why NOW is he showing up and blackmailing him.

In true Lisa Suzanne fashion this book ends on a cliffhanger at the wedding and I cannot wait to find out where we go from here!

After Alexis has to leave Danny abruptly for a family emergency, she is fraught with even more guilt over loving Danny while being forced into a marriage of convenience with Brooks for her father. The push and pull of Alexis trying to navigate how to make everyone happy and harm as little people as possible drains her. She is so concerned with what will make everyone else happy that she completely ignores herself and that eats away at her as the wedding day looms closer and closer. Danny is in his same tug of war battling his love for Alexis as they contradict everything he ever believed about relationships and fidelity. He knows that they are madly in love with each other and are meant to be, but the expense of being kept a secret is taking its toll on him as he tries to find a way to reconcile his conflicting emotions.

Things start to go off the rails when Danny's past comes into the picture to throw a wrench in their relationship and watching Alexis consistently choose against herself is beyond INFURIATING. I'm honestly still fuming that this girl cannot get it together and make the right decision for herself and flip the middle finger to everyone else and their expectations, but watching her father and Brooks manipulate her and the mental grip they have on her makes me have pity for her.

The cliffhanger on this is probably the juiciest one I've been forced to dangle from in a long time and I pray this girl makes the right choice because I don't know what I'll do!

Avery and Scott are doing a wonderful job fueling the feelings and pressure that this couple is experiencing, and I love how it enhances the story so much. Such an emotionally charged story that is being portrayed beautifully in their performances.

“We can lean on each other for support, or we can let this tear us apart.”

On Deck is angsty, emotional perfection. I cannot get enough of this series. Danny and Alexis have me on the edge of my seat to see what happens next with their relationship. I’m so invested!!!

“Now he feels like home. He’s the very definition of home—a place of belonging where I’m safe and loved and can be my true, authentic self.”

Alexis is still frustrating me with her refusal to assert her independence and willingness to go along with her father’s plans. She’s blindly trusting that everything will change when I’m sure that things will only get worse. I understand her feelings to an extent, but I want to see her take charge of her own life.

“My role here is to take care of her, and I will do that in whatever way I can.”

I’m still absolutely in love with Danny. He’s so patient and understanding even though he feels like he’s compromising himself. I feel so much for him and want Alexis to choose him. The secret relationship is definitely wearing on him, but he unfailingly supports Alexis and her decisions even if it hurts him.

“I will do what it takes to fight for us. Whatever that might look like.”

The secrets, lies, betrayals and familial conflict is heating up in On Deck. Danny and Alexis are sure in how they feel, but will it be enough to overcome all the obstacles that are in the way of making their relationship known and can they ignore the self-doubts and insecurities that their situation creates. This one ends on an emotional cliffhanger that has me on pins and needles for the continuation of their story.

Lisa Suzanne’s baseball series “Bases Loaded” features excerpt book #3, entitled On Deck. Danny, our male main character is just that, “on deck” in his new feelings for popular singer Alexis while also waiting on his feelings for her to morph into a relationship they can both celebrate. As in the previous books, Danny and his emotions are being held back by Alexis’ relationship with her father coupled with the guilt she shares about confronting him (Dad) and his loyalty to her. Personally, I think he’s going to go rogue and not truly look out for her interests—but we need to read the next book to see if my gut is “telling true”!!

Alexis, granted, is in an awkward position. As a leading singer and trend setter, she feels cloistered by her Brand, yet lacks the confidence to break out and stand up to her brand’s standards. It’s that lack of confidence that sends her to doubt and conflict with her devotion to Danny. Should she listen to Daddy or Danny?

How long will he wait? How long until she’s had enough of the pressure on her to “perform” as her Daddy wants? Whenever we think the road will be clear for them, another bump appears for them to get through. Whether its his dad or hers, his games or her concerts, her fake relationship with Brooks and Danny’s moral compass, it all comes to an impasse in On Deck. As the final scene unfolds, the reference to being “On Deck” takes on new meaning as the reader sees how the On Deck Circle, where the warm up for the actual play happens—and the featured play of the day is about to play out. Do they bunt or go for the home run?

We're at the halfway point in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series by Lisa Suzanne which means ALL the drama is ramping up.

On Deck picks right up where Caught Looking left off with Alexis' dad being rushed to the hospital on Thanksgiving. His health scare helps him push Alexis into pushing up the wedding and basically agreeing to whatever will make him happy- which in turn means she and Danny are both miserable.
Then adding onto the misery- Danny's father has come lurking from the woodwork causing chaos without a shred of remorse.

I found myself with a few strong emotions while reading this "installment" of Danny and Alexis' saga. The biggest of which was frustration with Alexis- she knows and admits that her father is playing her and that he will likely keep withholding her "freedom" with a new benchmark each time she gets close but she continues to go along with it blindly assuming that he has her interests at heart. Danny on the other hand I think has been amazing- he has his own frustrations with the situation but he just maintains a strong calming front for Alexis because that's what she needs. I love just how much he has changed and is willing to endure because he fell in love. And then there's the fathers- both of them make me feel irrationally angry and I feel like it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Alexis is left with a huge decision and while I have a feeling about what door she chose I will be on pins and needles until I get Bases Loaded in my hands and I can see just how Lisa will continue to play with my heart!

We're at the halfway point in the Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded series by Lisa Suzanne which means everything is ramping up.....

On Deck picks right up where Caught Looking left off with Alexis' dad being rushed to the hospital on Thanksgiving. His health scare has him pushing up the wedding and Alexis giving in to whatever will make him happy. Will she finally do something about her father's manipulation??? As if one manipulative father figure wasn't enough....Danny's estranged father shows up and starts to cause chaos of his own. How many more hits can they take???

I find myself frustrated with Alexis as she knowingly continues to allow her dad to manipulate and continue to "adjust" his terms in "keeping her best interest at heart" while continuing to prolong her quest for a revised contract for his own interests. When will she put her foot down and say enough is enough...she signed her original contract when she was a teenager and times and dreams change...she needs to figure out what she truly wants before she loses what/who makes her happy. I love the changes in Danny...from bad Boy of baseball to one who is supporting and trying to understand the one girl he's finally fallen for. But how long can he wait for her to figure it out for herself before he walks away??? And then there's the fathers- both of them make me feel extremely angry and I feel like it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Is time running out for Alexis and Danny???? I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment!!!

Book 3 On Deck in the Vegas Heat Bases Loaded series is raising the angst, heartache and heat to whole new levels. Danny and Alexis are just starting out as a couple in their secret relationship. It's smooth running for a minute and then a blast from Danny's past (not-so-dear-old-dad) shows up, and what a foul ball he is and the hit he serves up on Danny is unbelievable. Danny has his work cut out for himself in keeping his father's greed and evil plan from not just ruining Danny and Alexis' relationship but Alexi's career.
Meanwhile Alexis' father is continuing on with his selfish and manipulative plan over Alexis with the dangled bait of her getting to own her career in the way she wants. Alexis' father is all about the "conditional"; "if you'll do this", (marry a man she doesn't love) to cement a merger, and I'll give you this (new management, agent, your recording masters) and you'll call your own shots.
Time is running out for Danny and Alexis as they deal with the greed and pressure of their fathers and they're feeling their time together and relationship slip away. Alexis finds herself in a jam. Does she choose love over business? Danny is caught in a "pickle" trying to protect Alexis, his and her hearts and say good-bye to a father he's not had a relationship with since he was a little boy.
Lisa has paused this story in a most maddeningly brilliant spot! With my patience stretched I await book 4.

Alexis and Danny are fighting for time together and just when she is enjoying Thanksgiving with Danny and his family, her father has a health issue and she is forced to leave to be by his side. He uses his illness to manipulate her into moving the wedding date up. Alexis feels trapped and her panic attacks return.

Then on top of Alexis' fathers manipulations, Danny's deadbeat dad reappears and throws another curveball into the mix. He plants a camera in Danny's room where he catches some unsavory details between Alexis and Danny and is now using it to blackmail Danny. His father is an evil, no good man and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Danny finds out his dad is dying and has nothing to lose which makes him even more dangerous than originally thought.

Time is running out for Danny to stop his father from releasing the video and for him to try to convince Alexis to not go through with the wedding, but she doesn’t see any way out. Danny doesn’t understand why she can’t just marry him instead and take their relationship public. But that would mean defying her father and potentially ruining their relationship.

The wedding is under way and Alexis is only minutes from walking down the aisle. She has one final choice to make. Will she comply with her father’s wishes and marry Brooks, get her Masters back, follow through with the merger to get her career and life back into her control? Or will she follow her heart and abandon the wedding and go to Danny?

I'm loving this series but I do have to say this book was the hardest for me to listen to. Lisa Suzanne was definitely testing my patients with both of their fathers. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to throw something.

Alexis is still having to deal with her father wanting her to move up her wedding date. She believes if she gets married she will be able to get a new manager and her song will be hers. Will that actual happen?

As the wedding date draws closer Danny and Alexis are struggling to find time to be together. Then to add more drama to everything Danny's father shows up blackmailing him. These two can't seem to catch a break. You can tell Danny and Alexis love each other so much but everything and everyone seems to keep getting in their way.

This series must be listened to in order because they all leave off on cliffhangers. This one definitely left me wondering what is going to happen next. I can't wait to listen to the next book. I hope Alexis starts thinking about herself instead of her father. That's the only complaint I have about this series so far is I can't understand her characters need to make her father happy even though I feel like he doesn't care about her.

I would definitely recommend this book and series. Ok Lisa let's see what you have in store for us next!!

Thank you Valentine PR for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.

With the cliffhanger at the end of Caught Looking, Book 2, I was anxious for On Deck to be released.
Alexis has a crisis to handle and she rushed to her father’s side. He holds an unhealthy amount of power over her and I found the way she bows down to his demands (not requests or suggestions) very frustrating. She is old enough to make her own decisions yet she repeatedly lets him rule her life. I am kind of tired of reading about her “brand” and how she needs to be so wholesome. Brooks, her manager/boyfriend doesn’t seem to harm her brand. If she really wanted to get away from her father’s control, she would have consulted an entertainment lawyer.
Danny has been steadfast and so loyal and kind toward Alexis. He has finally found love and sees in her what he wants his future to be. I give him a lot of credit for the changes he has made.
I love the inclusion of his mother and sister. His father popping up and creating chaos is not welcomed.
Lisa Suzanne is known as the Queen of Cliffhangers and she does not disappoint in that area. She is also very good at getting me annoyed by things her characters do. Her stories keep me engaged. She is good, very good. On Deck leaves us with yet another question – what will Alexis do? Will she give in to her father’s demands and marry Brooks or run away with Danny?

Get ready and buckle yourself in for a rollercoaster ride of your life. On Deck will have you holding your breath and feeling the knots in your stomach as you read through the troubles that Danny and Alexis have to go through. The first two books in this series had my head spinning but this one was a grand slam right from the start. Ms. Suzanne always gives us an action-packed story that is also a page-turner. Here she has us sitting on the edge of our seats with the heart-stopping story of Danny and Alexis.
Alexis reminds me of a little girl who cannot live her life and follows whatever she has been told. She is following her father's word and not feeling what is in her heart. Danny, on the other hand, is way too patient and understanding. He has a heart of gold and would do anything for Alexis. He now has to deal with his father showing up and causing huge problems for the two of them. Will they ever get a break and be able to get past all the crap that is being thrown at them?
Once again Ms. Suzanne leaves us with a cliffhanger that is one of her best. Was I mad when I got to the end of this book? Yes. Was I about to throw my device? Yes, but it cost too much so I just yelled at it. I cannot wait to see what Alexis decides and what Ms. Suzanne has in store for her readers.

On Deck
As Danny and Alexis get closer and enjoy their time together a medical emergency with her father ruins her Thanksgiving with Danny’s family. When Alexis flies to his bedside her father decides to move up the Wedding to Brooks. Alexis feels trapped and having panic attacks.
Maybe she can please her father and marry Brooks, get her Masters back, follow through with the merger, get her life back and then divorce Brooks to be with Danny. So many “what ifs” to have your own life. Isn’t a father supposed to be a support. Does he have her best interests at heart or is he manipulating her for his own interests?
In a surprise, Danny opens his front door to see his father he has not seen in many years. He says he is going to ruin his life. Then the blackmail starts. His father plants a camera in the bedroom and captures some damning evidence. His father wants to reconnect with Danny but he wants money too.
It seems everything is falling apart. Danny says: Marry Me. But a lifetime of pleasing her father is fighting against that. It’s decision time. What will she choose?
These stories by Lisa Suzanne are so compelling. The characters feel so real, you find yourself talking to them. Sometimes they do and say things that make you want to throw your book/kindle. You become invested. Bring on that next book…please… I have to know!
