3.5 stars and a somewhat disappointing story. After reading Monroe’s Mercenary trilogy, that I really enjoyed, this latest series is missing the character development between the h/h that she does so well I thought.
The hero, Ethan, is a great alpha but too much of a Mr Hot-And–I-Know-It kind of guy. He needed a dose of humility. He’s from Texas but you’d never guess because for some reason Monroe didn’t bring out his Texas twang like she did with Brett (who was from Georgia) in “And Able” which was too bad because she has a fantastic way of making you “hear” regional accents that add to the character’s charm.
Beth, the heroine, doesn’t have much faith in herself until all of sudden she morphs into sex kitten/secret agent just by being with Ethan (and it’s really early on in the story too) which wasn’t all that believable. Granted she’s been pining for him for 2 years but when they actually are together what she does doesn’t seem to go with her personality. Their relationship is hot but it’s missing the emotional development so it’s hard to believe that they love each other when all they seem to have is a good shot of lust. Some of the steam I also found to be borderline crude at the beginning.
The story itself stagnates at times. Not much really happens so it’s the couple that’s the focus which is fine if there was more to them. The background spy story also has a rushed feeling to it towards the end. There is lots of snappy dialog which was good.
An okay read I guess. Hopefully the next book is better.

This book is a Goddard Project book. Beth is the daughter of the bossman and Ethan is one of the oldest agents on the team. Beth swears not to date agents because of a bad experience with one in the past; however she has always had a thing for Ethan. Beth’s dad hires a new agent that turns out to be her old fling. Having him around makes Ethan a little jealous and makes him realize he might actually want Beth for himself.
Ethan and Beth get thrown together on an assignment where they have to play boyfriend/girlfriend and Ethan is the part of the possessive boyfriend. These two had great chemistry. The book moved very fast and was very entertaining. As usual, this was a great read by Lucy Monroe and I am going to read the next one ASAP!! Looks like there might be many more to this series also.

I went into this one with high expectations, and wasn't disappointed. This series is loosely linked to her Ready, Willing, And Able trilogy.
Beth works for her fathers company, The Goddard Project that works with the FBI. She's had a crush on one of the agents, Ethan, for two years. Little does she know that he also likes her. Both are commitment shy. She was left at the alter 3 years ago--coincidently by another agent. Ethan puts his job as agent first in his life over everything.
They get thrown on an undercover case together, which has them posing as a live-in couple. They are forced to face their feeling for each other.
I tore through this book in a few hours. Their relationship, and also the case they were on kept me from putting it down. Also, it is verrrry steamy!

3 ½ stars – Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense
This is the first book in Monroe’s Goddard Project series, which is a spin-off of her Mercenary Trilogy. The Goddard Project is an agency that tackles cases involving threats to national security that are of a technological nature. In Satisfaction Guaranteed, sexy agent Ethan is teamed up with the agency’s executive assistant (and boss’s daughter) Beth on an assignment to bring down a technological terrorist. She swears she will never date or fall in love with an agent ever again after getting dumped at the altar by one in the past. Of course, she has pined for sexy playboy Ethan for two years, agent or not, and getting thrown together with him on a case that involves them assuming the roles of boyfriend and girlfriend could prove to be too much temptation to handle! I rated it a little lower because the heroine got on my nerves, and I was hoping for a little more plot and intrigue. There is very little action or suspense, but the romance is plenty steamy!!

Whew! *fan's self* I am aware that this is a kind of suspense book, but I don't have any idea that it would be like that... It was freakin' hot! Well, I mean, it wasn't the hottest book I've ever read, but still, the sex scenes were blush-worthy. Beth and Ethan have combustible chemistry, which leads to some sexy and dirty times that will leave you panting. The suspense/mystery aspect of the storyline wasn't quite interesting for me. I was actually hoping for more intrigue, twists, and actions; instead, the romance and their "relationship" monopolized the entire story. Anyways, I still enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading more from the series!

I didn't feel that it was a superior read. It was average but it had pretty steamy sex scenes. It was also not absorbing which made it all that much harder to read. The characters were believable ... but not realistic. They have well-rounded personalities but their overall personas are a little too perfect. Yes, they do have flaws and all but the dialogue and acting comes off a little too manufactured... not to mention cheesy. What this book lacked overall was any real sense of adventure and action. Once again, this is always a let-down in Monroe's books because when it comes to the take-down, it is compressed into one or two pages with no detail or descriptions to give the reader thrill or suspense. Granted, it's not a romantic suspense book, but rather contemporary romance but this book really doesn't have any visible climax.
At various moments in the book, Ethan's wooing was very similar to Lora Leigh's novels—the dialogue that is. It was far too cheesy and cliche for me. I feel as if they are in a Harlequin novella because of the adoration and constant crooning. Also, there were very boring parts. We do not see these two lovebirds spending more than one night apart. They are in constant physical and emotional contact for about the first half of the book; the secondary and background characters don't exist since the co-stars take the spotlight.
Overall, I felt Satisfaction Guaranteed could have been written better but it was not a waste of time. It wasn't exactly entertaining but it was sweet. It took me a while to read. In the end, we know that it was Beth's father's (Whit) matchmaking that brought the two agents together. There is also a cliffhanger of a sort—Alan Hyatt is the hero in the next Goddard Project novel with his heroine, Jillian—another matchmaking scheme put together by Whit. This book isn't a must-read. It felt more like a book to read to pass the time, or for fun. I would suggest you try this book but it doesn't come fully recommended. 3/5 stars.

This was a good cheesy romance novel. Beth works for her father at a spy agency. She's basically the admin that coordinates all the agents schedules. She has been fantasizing about Ethan for two years. He has never noticed her. Then one day her ex-fiance Alan walks in the door. Her father just hired him to be an agent. Even though Alan had left her standing at the altar three years ago. He got called out on assignment and couldn't reach out to Beth until three days after the wedding was over. He tried to apologize but she realized the job would always come first for him.
A new assignment is given to Ethan to take down someone he's been chasing for years, Arthur Prescott. They have been trying to find a way to get a 'man' in on the inside. But Prescott is tight on security. But then he opens a job that Beth would be perfect for. But since she's not an agent they need a way to work an agent into her cover. Ethan is to play the overprotective boyfriend.
They go out on a date to get to know each other. But he goes through all her things and discovers she has sexual fantasies. (Beth makes them out to be these big crazy fantasies, but they are actually pretty tame). But all the date really does is show that they have major chemistry with each other.
But by the next night they are having sex. And then they move out to Portland and begin their operation. Prescott hires Beth and he's totally creepy. Beth and Ethan are hot and cold as they try to figure each other out and how much is the assignment and how much is real. They discover Prescott is going to sell a weaponized un-manned drone to the highest bidder. They also learn he killed at least one girl, not to mention Ethan's friends from years ago. They catch him. Ethan and Beth admit they love each other and he proposes. And basically that's it. I skipped some other stuff but this was the gist.
Beth's character was a bit wishy washy. Like her personality changed depending on where we were in the story. Sometimes strong, sometimes independent, sometimes needy, sometimes childish. That's probably my biggest complaint. The story was pretty ludicrous but that's kind of the fun with these books.

Sweet
So this in concept and premise was cute and fun. There was a lot of adult content and a little bit of story. But I like Lucy Monroe's characters. Ethan and Beth were super cute. Just seemed to derail from plot as soon as the adult content started happening and that was pretty early on.

I liked the concept of this book, but not how it was written. The spelling and grammatical errors were through the roof. The writing felt very immature along with how the plot line developed. The first two sex scenes were way too long. There was awkward dialogue throughout. Not sure this author is for me.

The Goddard Project series is a spin-off of the Mercenary Trilogy, or so I've read. This was my first time reading anything by Ms. Monroe, so I didn't know what to expect. I'd won a couple of paperbacks in one of TRR's seasonal scavenger hunts and thought it was time to give a new to me author a go.
I was mostly fond of Beth for her feistiness and sass when she felt backed into a corner or when she was embarrassed. She seemed smart, focused and dedicated to her job, but around a Ethan, she lost a lot of the composure that I liked so much. There wasn't anything wrong with feeling so attracted to the point of desperation, but it felt like all she had was sex on the brain. When we add the hangups of her upbringing and the disastrous almost wedding from three years prior, she spent a lot of time feeling sorry for herself and doubting everything Ethan was telling her. She didn't begin to change until around Chapter Eighteen, three chapters before the end.
The majority of the story dealt with the development of a romantic relationship brought about by being in close confines with Ethan and exploring a sexual relationship not only for the mission, but to finally find relief from two years of fantasizing about one another. Her main problem, however, was not being the type able to separate sex from emotions. Suddenly the no-strings attached sex had its pros and cons.
I liked her and Ethan together, and really they were perfect for each other, especially sexually. What I didn't enjoy that much was the childish behavior and silent treatments when either one of them tried to put the breaks on bubbling feelings. What I did appreciate about them was their ability to self-analyze and question themselves. It showed that they weren't in denial.
The suspense portion was a disappointment, though, with its sole purpose being the reason they were pretending to be a couple. The showdown was over in less than five seconds.
The story wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me either. If there had been equal parts suspense and equal parts romance, I would have rated this higher, but I liked it enough to read the other books in the series.

Pretty meh. She's another weirdly insecure, but supposedly super capable, late twenties woman with strange daddy-issues. He's another weirdly uptight, supposedly alpha super spy dude. They have a not-very-romantic romp while quickly capturing the bad guy who's selling weapon plans to the highest-bidder. The standard Monroe plot for this whole series.
Once again, dad is almost as much of a jerk as the bad guy, but that's OK because he manages to manipulate dear daughter into marrying the agent of his choice. And despite the fact that dear daughter has legitimate issues with the agent lifestyle - including being ignored as a child, stood up at her wedding, etc. - she finds the adrenaline rush of sneaking around in dangerous situations as an untrained agent so hot that she's willing to give up her dreams to be with hot-shot agent of daddy's choice. And then in possibly 5 years, when she's in her mid-thirties, they'll both retire to perfectly interesting non-agent jobs (that they are considering now) because, hey, being an agent is cool, and who cares if that's not what you've ever said you wanted to do.

Beth Whitney has left her job as an investment adviser to work for her father's business, The Goddard Project, a business which specializes in undercover work. Beth has been providing administrative assistance to the agents, though she herself has been through the first phase of agent training. She made the move to help recover from the humiliation of being left at the altar by her ex-fiance Alan Hyatt. It's been two years and the move seems to have helped as she finds herself attracted to Agent Ethan Crane, even though she has made it a rule not to become involved with the agents. To make matters worse, her father is sending her out in the field with Agent Crane to give her some experience. As they are about to depart, her father hires a new agent, none other than Alan Hyatt.

Honestly, I expected more out of the book. For a romantic suspense book, it seriously lacked in action and suspense. It could've easily passed for a romance novel with a twist. Even the ending is anti-climactic. For such a sadistic monster, he and his clients are easily subdued. No fuss, no muss. It's like the author was tired of it all and wanted to wrap it all up quickly with a bow on top. I have to say that the plot had potential that wasn't exploited. But the romance kind of made up for it. The main focus was on the developing relationship between the main characters, which pushed the action to the background.
All in all, it was an interesting, good and fast read.

Ethan Crane is an agent for the Goddard project. Beth Whitney works for her father's agency the Goddard project. For the last two years she has fantasied about Ethan he is 6'3" pure Alpha that just makes females think of steamy kisses.
Then her father lets her ex-finance back into the agency and Ethan decides that Beth should not have been left at the alter. So he lets her father talk him into taking Beth on accignment as a partner. Things get real interesting when they have to act like a couple.

I liked this, but it wasn't spectacular. It read like Harlequin Blaze book. So the focus was on the growing relationship and alot on the sex (which was pretty hot, considering it all). The whole spy situation was kinda bogus, too simplified and non-threatening, but really, do any of us expect much of that from this kind of book? Maybe I've gotten too used to getting a complicated villain.
Anyway, its a fun read. I haven't read the others, so I cannot compare. People say that this was not as good, so maybe I should read the other ones.

First adult romance novel ever. Maybe it was better than I rated it, but I was so embarrassed by the fact that I WAS reading it, well, I mean any book that drops mention of erections so nonchalantly is certainly not great writing. I mean, the hero, Ethan, couldn't appear on a page without the bulge in his black jeans being mentioned. And honestly, there wasn't much plot. The espionage case was spoken of little throughout the book. I know, I know, that's not the point, it is supposed to provide background to the romance part. I suppose this genre just isn't my cup of tea. :)

First book I have read by Monroe. Story was part of a series about agents for the Goddard Project who are covert investigators on behalf of the US Govt. This books deals with the Agency's founder and leader's daughter Elizabeth, who works there but is not an agent. She is used undercover on a mission as she happens to fit the profile they need perfectly and she will be handled by a top agent, Ethan. She has secretly been attracted to him, but now she must play his girlfriend. Not much more needs to be said. Writing was OK and not much in surprises.

It takes me quite time to finished his book coz I'm still reading another one. I thought of giving this a 3 star because there are part of the story that kept me bored. I felt like those part doesn't need to tackle and define a little bit long because mainly it was a bed scene. Well, I've changed my mind and gave it 4 star upon reaching the end. That's where the story became exciting. I love the ending. Beth's father is one of a kind cupid-like.
Nevertheless, I would absolutely recommend this book!

Look, this was not a great book. The H/h romantic relationship wasn't super well developed beyond their physical attraction (lots of telling) and they would describ each other really oddly and the personal development of both characters felt under-developed AND YET, I kept readng because WOW the H/h actually have like, very healthy open communication with each other and it did not kill the tension but instead made their different goals and how they might navigate those even more interesting???

June 12, 2007This book is a continuation of the storyline started in the Ready, Willing, and Able books. This about a woman whose father owns security agency. She was left at the alter by a former agent and does not trust any of the agents. One of the agents comes in and when a case throws them together, she learns that she can trust him and they fall in love. It was a good story and I enjoyed reading it. I have liked all of the Lucy Monroe books that I have read so far.

This is book #1 in the Goddard Project series. But, the Mercenary Trilogy by this author has character overlapping with this series.
I enjoyed both the Mercenary Trilogy and this series---a lot. The books are large paperbacks, too. This book was my favorite, so far. Loved it!

Beth is a shy introvert who lives mostly in her imagination. Having come second to her father's job and her mother's politics her entire life she is devastated when her fiancée does the same - on their wedding day.
She works for her father at TGP as an administrator and fantasises about one of the agents, Ethan.
This was heavy on sex, although pretty tame, and light on drama, pity because the story was good and I would have liked more development.

Contemporary romance with protected sex. #6 in the series.
I liked this one. I KNEW Ethan would make a good hero when we were introduced to him in the last book. Beth is a good heroine. I liked that she stuck to her principles, even as she thought she was losing Ethan. I hate a wuss heroine.
Kind of slow in places, but otherwise worth reading.

I really liked this book, and as usual though I find myself in the middle of a series. Ugh. Oh well. I liked the suspense, the comedy and the lovin'. If you enjoy action/adventure and romance you will like this series.

Good story with some hot love scenes. I kind of like when the guy realizes first that the woman is THE ONE and he has to convince her that he's THE ONE. I just like spy books period, so this one was perfect for me.

I liked the chemistry between the two main characters. Both are strong willed and intelligent. They bring out the best in each other. They also bring sexy, hot & steamy sex to their relationship. Her Dad's behind the scenes maneuverings. Fun read.
