From beginning to end Jesus' earthly ministry was based in discipleship. His calling of Peter and Andrew made His intentions clear, "Come follow me, Jesus said, and I will send you out to fish for people." Though churches have discipleship programs, few do them well. Many pastors sadly admit that less than 20% of their church is active in discipleship. "Discipleship Based Churches" is written from an hands-on approach to help you create and maintain a church of disciples.
Whether you are planting a new church and need a foundation or looking to re-launch an existing church with discipleship as the focus- this book is for you! Join the revolution and do what Jesus commanded- build His church with disciples!
I feel as if I was reading my situation and struggles, although there was stuff I did not agree with in philosophy and theology of ministry his passion and resilience for ministry is contagious. I especially identified with the chapter on resilience in ministry. Very encouraging.
Pastor Wyrostek gives a heartfelt and honest plea for the local Church to "begin again" the call of Jesus to make disciples. He gives practical advise and is totally honest about his struggles as a pastor establishing practical discipleship in the Church. I recommend this to pastors and leaders of congregation!
