These accursed things haven’t stopped me from thinking. My mind burns in hatred of myself, of these creatures. I’d hoped I could have been stronger, could have pushed away and fought the paralysis of free will. My stomach churns as they feed, releasing their hold on me. My stomach warm with blood, my movements become my own again. They are still in there waiting. I can feel them moving.

HAIL THE CONQUERING WORM!

This story will cause you to squirm and wish you could forget the horrible thought of alien worms invading your body from outer space, forcing you to eat anything -- even your own flesh and blood!!!

When a blissful family outing is disrupted by a shower of podlike objects, a family's sacred bond of love and trust is forever ripped apart, along with their security. Nothing will ever be the same, for there are some fates worse than death. Jerry McKinney's vivid and imaginative storytelling will lead you through his own distinct version of a doomsday scenario in which a man discovers that a simple organism is his greatest foe. It is no longer the dead who must fear the worm. Thanks to McKinney's "Takers", we will all be having nightmares of the lowly creatures, and should think twice before stepping outdoors, lest we tread where worms dwell -- or worse, have one fall on us from the sky on a peaceful day!

Don't bite into a rotten apple. Be careful what you read. And whatever you do, don't open your mouth to scream! Jerry McKinney's worms may be waiting . . .

This is the story of a family. They have gone on holiday to a secluded island. Thinking they are alone, they enjoy the sand and surf until it is time to go home. Then the heavens open, but it isn't rain. what falls out of the sky is far more horrific, and will change their lives forever....

This was a very creepy and slightly gross story from the master story teller. A story of worms taking over humans and turning them into sort of zombies. Once again a lot of action was packed into a short story and I enjoyed it immensely. A roller-coaster of a story that I recommend.

This is a great read!!!! This short story takes you through what one man endures as the world as he knows it falls apart. Jerry McKinney has a way of writing that takes you right into the story, and with all of his work this is no different. The poor man in this story just wanted a wonderful day with his family and to have some special time with his wife when the day is over but the worms make sure that does not happen. This book will send you on a ride through love, fear and loss. A must read for all.

This is a chilling tale of a family out to have a nice day on the beach until things go incredibly wrong! Jerry McKinney has written a tale the STILL gives me shivers. He is able to bring his characters to life so well that I really feel like I am there with them. In this case, unfortunately! ;) The story grabs you from the very beginning and doesnt let go. If you like a story that will give you a good chill, I recommend this one!! GREAT job Jerry!!

Creepy little tale about the destruction of the human race as seen through the annihilation of one family. Reminded me of all the weird scenes in XFiles. You will understand when you read the story. Jerry is a consummate story teller and has the ability to take you out of your reality for a short while.
