After being arrested, living in the shadow of his father’s legacy, and being attacked by magical creatures and other mages alike, Hayden Frost was amazed that he survived his first year at Mizzenwald. At least he knew, going into his second year, that things couldn’t possibly get any worse…right?
In the second book of The Broken Prism series, Hayden is confronted with a whole new set of problems: crowds cheering while he fights for his life against much more skillful mages; old enemies and new, determined to see him fail; watching his friends die, powerless to prevent it. Delving into his past becomes his only hope of surviving the future, and forging new alliances is more important than ever.
Except that one of Hayden's greatest allies has been keeping a secret from him that will change everything…

I laughed and cried a little in this book. we meet some new friends and some new enemies. we also learn some secrets about some people. this book ends at the end of year 2. I wonder what is going to happen in year 3. I can not wait to find out.
I could not put this book down! I had to know how it ended. And now I am even more hooked on book 3. If only I could just sit home and read books all day I'd finish all of them by tomorrow! Can't wait for the weekend so I can finish.
I absolutely love this series. The magic system is great. The character development is really good too. Hayden, Zane, Tess have such a precious friendship. I love BONK, I need a familiar drangonling in the form of Bonk. I might have developed a crush on master Asher too. *Blush* *blush*
This book started off as a Harry Potter clone, but has since then progressed to an individual entity on its own. I read this series at a cost of nothing using my Kindle Unlimited account. So far worth every penny. The series did not have too many plot twists, but was engaging and fast-paced nonetheless. Do not misjudge these books based on my rating, I have read too many fantasy books lately for a book to completely bowl me over! I totally recommend this series to readers who are young or new to fantasy genre.

I didn't finish this book. All the world and things are just there to let you see how perfect and holy the main character is and how unjust is the world to the poor him. I never saw such an extreme Gary Stu case. And not to mention this is a bad executed fanfiction about Harry Potter.
The story progresses neatly, retaining sufficient development and turmoils, enough to keep you wondering what happens next while the central question looms.
God, I love this series!! I wish the author and the saga got the attention they deserve!! The magic system is awesome, the characters are likable and the story is interesting.
In all honesty, I didn't expect the Cave of Nightmares, or the Broken Prism as a series itself to be as good as it was. Upon reading the blurb, I wasn't sold on the magic system and the book cover, personally, did it no justice. As is known, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but at the end of the day, the cover is what is going to bring readers in, its supposed to be appealing.
At this point, the only thing I was interested in was that our main character, Hayden Frost was the son of an evil villain, the Dark Prism. I'm glad something pulled me in, else I would've missed a great read.
The magical system turned out to be extremely intriguing, continually so the more I read about it. The characters were all interesting, and the relationships even more so. I loved how eccentric Master Asher was and he gave off a bit of a Jack Sparrow vibe. The only 'downside' in terms of character was that Hayden was so hot tempered that I got second hand embarrassment when he would blow up and yell at someone or other in front of many others.
We learn some interesting things about Hayden's past as well as his visits to places he was connected to (which for me, was spooky but very interesting). Whilst some of the twists I had worked out or guessed quite soon in the book, it was a pleasure to read the reveals nonetheless.
Whilst The Cave of Nightmares was somewhat (and I say that loosely) slower paced in that it had more introductory chapters, the Other Prism moved at a much faster pace. Essentially the book jumped mostly from arenas and challenges with only little things dotted in between. Whilst this isn't necessarily a complaint, as the book was mainly about the Inter-School championship, I did find myself missing the chapters from the previous books, detailing Hayden's classes and school struggles.
On the whole, the Other Prism was a fantastic read and I'll definitely be reading more.
