Michael Ivey, the local veterinarian and Savannah’s new husband is attacked by an enraged client and then later accused of this man’s murder. The evidence quickly stacks up against Michael, until Rags, Savannah’s kleptomaniac cat, starts digging up clues implicating the unlikely suspect.
Coinciding with the details of this challenge is the discovery that the old house, which the couple purchased from Savannah’s aunt, is cursed. Is this why the couple has not been blessed with a child?
Savannah’s sister Brianna comes for a visit. She teams up with the Iveys’ vet tech, Bud, to discover how to break the gypsy spell and they fall hard for each other. Will their courtship be strengthened or weakened by a frightening carjacking incident?
Detective Craig Sledge is prominent in this story as the lead investigator in the murder case. As usual, he engages in some creative tactics to get the information and the confessions he’s after. He has also become embedded in Savannah’s friend, Iris’s family. He’s dating Iris and helping with her son, Damon’s rehabilitation in prison.

Rags, the Klepto cat is back for another adventure. I enjoy this series. This adventure had the cats and dogs interacting with each other and their humans. Michael losses a dog for unknown reasons. The owner goes berserk and attacks Michael and Savannah at the clinic. Charges are press against him; but he is released. Unexplained happenings start occurring and Rags alerts the Iveys about them. The client's body is found at the clinic. Michael is accused of the murder. The ending does not seem to be part of the story. The author does a excellent job of connecting the 2 events together

Michael and Savannah Ivey are more than a little stunned when one of their clients is so angry that he attacks them in their clinic. Not long after the attack, the client turns up dead. All evidence is pointing Michael’s way. The dead body was even discovered in the Ivey’s clinic. With the help of their good friend, Detective Craig Sledge, they set out to find the real killer and find out who could be framing Michael.

To add to the excitement, Savannah’s sister Brianna comes to town and pairs up with the Ivey’s vet tech, Bud. The two get closer and closer with each day.

For a cat lover like me, what can be better than a cat cozy mystery? The klepto cat is Savannah’s Rags and it’s a good thing he likes to take other people’s belongings since it often helps in solving mysteries. Once again, Rags’ talents come in handy. With a little help from Rags, they might just find out who the culprit is.

I really enjoy this series and it has some of the best book covers I’ve ever seen featuring cats. This book was a bit different as it was more like two books in one. The first book was a cozy mystery which was solved approximately half way through the book. The rest of the book had nothing to do with the mystery. It was more like a romance novel. Not that there is anything wrong with romances. Romance is my second favorite genre. However, I was a bit surprised that the first part of the book had nothing to do with the second part, except that the same characters were involved. I almost thought it was a preview for the next book, but it wasn’t.

It didn’t really matter as I was interested in the entire book and all the characters. The Iveys are the main characters throughout the whole book. They are “real” people who could be your average neighbor. They are likeable characters who readers will truly care about. In fact, most of the secondary characters are likeable as well.

Overall, a sweet mystery and romance with no sex or violence. The perfect way to spend a quiet afternoon.

I received a copy of "Sleight of Paw" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

When a client attacks them at their clinic Savannah and Michael Ivy are shocked. When he turns up dead on the clinic property all suspicious clues point to Michael. As they search for the real killer, with a little help from Rags and his friends, Savannah and Michael also contemplate starting their own family.

"Sleight of Paw" is a delightful read with a main plot that deals with the murder and a subplot dealing with the personal lives of the main characters. Both of which help you become more invested in the lives and loves of all the characters, both of the two and four legged varieties. Other than one slow passage the book flows at a steady pace. The characters grow and expand in in book three. Rags of course steals the show and your heart of course. Ms. Fry keeps it light and fun. Her special talent for bringing her furrier characters to life has forever endeared her Klepto Cat series to my heart. I look forward to enjoying "Undercover Cat", the next book in this series. I gave "Sleight of Paw" a 4.25 out of 5 stars rating.

If you enjoy your mysteries on the lighter, humorous side with some quirky characters, lovable animals and clean dialogue then this is a series to keep close to your heart.

Interview & Review 'Sleight of Paw' by Patricia Fry

Book Readers Review

The book Sleight of Paw is the third in the Klepto Cat Mystery Series written by Patricia Fry. If you have read the first two in the series, Catnapped and Cat-Eye Witness you will be familiar with the characters. Rags the kleptomaniac cat is once again active in his favourite pastime, stealing little things and hiding them. But Rags has the uncanny ability to unearth clues to crimes committed. The lovable veterinarians Savannah and Michael are now married and desperately trying to get pregnant. A curse put on the old house many years ago that the couple recently bought, worries Savannah. Michael Ivey is accused of murder. Detective Craig Sledge is dating Iris and helping with her wayward son, Damon’s rehabilitation. New to the cast are Bud, the Ivey’s veterinarian technician and Brianna, Savannah’s sister. They form a relationship and try to find a way to break the spell on the Ivey’s house. Unfortunately, Bud and Brianna fall victims of a crime on their journey home from a night away together.
The author, Patricia Fry, asked me to review Sleight of Paw for a blog tour. I thank Patricia for letting me read yet another of her wonderful books in the series. This is the second I have reviewed, the first was Cat-Eye Witness. Fry’s writing style captures the reader’s attention at once with an excellent balance of detail, action, romance, and mystery. Patricia has achieved a good blend of succinct and all-embracing description of the events and people throughout the book. And you cannot help but fall in love the Ivey’s, their animals, and friends. The Klepto Cat Mystery Series is definitely recommended for any age. As a retired English teacher I do not hesitate to suggest the series be added to the classroom reading list. I look forward to the next Cat Mystery book.

4 STARS

Sleight of Paws is a fun cozy mystery heavy on cute smart animals. It is a fast read. It actually has almost two completely different stories back to back.

The first part of the story has a very unhappy customer at the veterinarian clinic. Michael and Savannah are attacked in their clinic. Later there is a body found inside and Michael is the prime suspect in it.

Rags of course finds clues that help solve the case. Also Rags helps save his animal friend from being dognapped. Rags still is a klepto stealing things right out of purses. He brings lots of laughter to the folks around him.

Who the real person that if framing Dr. Michael Ivey is shown real early but the motive is a surprise.

The second part of the story is a curse if found to be on the house Savannah & Michael bought from her Aunt.
Bud and Brianna are looking into the breaking of curses. They also start dating. They have their own adventure along the way.

I like the characters. Michael and Savannah have a bunch of animals with their own personalities who have major roles in the stories. Plus there are their friends and family members that we have met in previous stories are back. The police detective is back. Plus we meet more people in Michael and Savannah's veterinarian clinic.

Sleight of Paw is the third book in A Klepto Cat Mystery series. It is richer to have read the other two books but can stand alone by itself too.

The setting in northern California.

Lots of drama, characters interaction with each other, humor, danger and is a clean read as they solve their problems.
I really like what or how Savannah solves the final problem it is a good motto.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of giving a honest review of Sleight of Paw.

Sleight of Paw is the third book in the Klepto Cat Mystery series and with this one we will catch up with characters from the previous books, but we will also meet a few new ones as well. Our favorite veterinarians, Savannah and Michael are back once again. They are now married
and they are hoping to have a child. They are working on renovating the Forster mansion, well I should say Michael is working on the renovations, but when Rags finds something in the walls well it leads to another find that points to a gypsy curse, but could that be? Added to that Michael loses a doggie patient, and the owner becomes irate, and when that owner winds up dead at the clinic well Michael becomes the prime suspect. Savannah's sister comes for a visit and just might find true love of her own.

The author easily pulls me in every time with her well written mysteries that blends characters, storylines, and of course our four legged friends that we have come to love in the previous books in this series to make for a page turning read that is satisfying from beginning to end. Several secondary characters keep the plot from slowing down, I found the story that developed with Brianna and Bud added another layer, and gave us a new romance to root for! Not only do I recommend Sleight of Paw but the entire Klepto Cat Mystery series. Anyone who enjoys a good mystery that has a cozy feel, with interesting well developed characters and a clean storyline that provides more than a few twists, and a few laughs to boot will find themselves purring with delight as they read Sleight of Paw.

This is the third book in this delightful series. It can be read as a stand alone but I would suggest you read them all since each book mentions the others. I read both the 1st and the second--
Catnapped (book 1)
Cat-Eye Witness (book 2)

Rags, the kleptomaniac cat (he really will steal anything within paws reach!) found a note in the wall that Michael was redoing as part of the renovation of the house. The note is retrieved but it is written in what they think is German. Turns out that a curse was put on this house years ago by some Gypsies. Meanwhile lots of action is taking place--none of it good. Rags has to dig up lots of evidence to get them out of all this. And meanwhile they find that the curse can be reversed---will they figure out the clue?

This series is easy reading but will definitely keep you entertained!! I am now eagerly awaiting the 4th book of this series!!
