I borrowed this book from a friend and I´m definitely buying it. It´s a must have for consulting on how to plant, use and combine plants in your backyard for health purposes. I found so many uses and unexpected plant ideas. Dandelions were definitely undertaken by me. I also loved that it teaches you how to store the fuits and plants so you can use them all year long. Great book, great idea to make partners from a an alternative health practitioner and an horticulist. I read and cherish every single page. The phographs are also beautiful.
If you are looking for a book that not only tells you how to grow and harvest plants but also how to actually use them, this is the book for you! I have been looking for this type of book for a very long time and am even more excited that the authors are Canadian! Easy to read and follow instructions with beautiful pictures accompanying. A must have for anyone looking to grow their own home remedies!
I loved this book! Anxious to get started on planning out my gardens now! While I read the book I made a list of the 49 plants covered in the book and made notes regarding whether I would plant them indoors, outdoors, in the garden or in pots. Let the planning begin - it's exciting - the only trick it to be cognizant of space restrictions as I won't be able to plant all 49 plants and others that I desire! Thanks Frankie and Bryce for your inspiration and guidance!
Super user-friendly! Chock full of helpful info with gorgeous accompanying colour plates. Contains growing, medicinal and preparation tips including recipes. I think every library should contain this volume, even just for the gorgeous photos! But don't deprive yourself, 'dig' right in and find out what's 'growing' on in the plant world!
A beautiful book of beneficial plants is nicely laid out and has an easy to follow style. It would be a nice addition to the shelves of gardeners and herbalists alike. I appreciate the inclusion of how to tackle those insects that bother each plant as well as warnings. I borrowed this book from my local library.
It was an okay first-step introduction to everything from growing to harvesting to storing and using different herbs until I got to the part where the authors recommend sticking garlic up your vagina to treat a yeast infection (and leaving it there overnight for 2-3 nights in a row, no less).
I saw this book on a friend's coffee table and was immediately intrigued by its beautiful pictures and interesting content. She offered for me to borrow it and I did. Then had to buy her a new copy because it has been enjoyed so thoroughly. My children love to flip through this book as well. The content is interesting and I intend to attempt a dandelion- burdock root tea soon!
I loved this book! It's chock full of good ideas, especially as to what each plant can naturally help with. Every person who uses natural therapies for their bodies should read this. After reading this, I will be growing many more of these plant, harvesting them, and using them on myself!
