The roles of High Paladin and High Necromancer do not allow for much free time, even less where they might spend it together. When they do finally obtain some time to spend with each other, Sorin and Koray find there are still doubts and fears between them that will take more than time to overcome...
Megan is a long time resident of queer romance and keeps herself busy reading and writing it. She is often accused of fluff and nonsense. When she’s not involved in writing, she likes to cook, harass her wife and cats, or watch movies. She loves to hear from readers and can be found all over the internet.
First of all, it is imperative for readers to first read Black Magic prior to this one – because you will get more background about High Paladin Sorin (Paladins are warriors) and High Necromancer Koray; how they met, the injustice and prejudice that Koray was experiencing, and why he felt insecure with his relationship with Sorin.
Come to Me is basically two short slice-of-life stories, about Sorin and Koray’s life in the palace. For Megan Derr’s standard – I have read several of her stories – this had slightly more sex content; although really quite tame (even if it involves rope and tying up activity). However, at the same time, it also feels that there is too much talk than action and I find myself almost screaming “Just get it on, man!” to the both of them *lol*.
I still find it adorable though, maybe because I have soft spot for Derr’s characters, especially the grumpy ones. And Koray is darn adorable.
Recommended if you want to get a glimpse about how Sorin and Koray are doing and if you don’t mind slice-of-life stories.

Koray has always had power, and he used it well. But doning authority has been another thing. Protecting the others of his office, protecting the populace while garnering respect, that is really another thing, entirely. So when nobles taunt him about the expertise of his love, Sorin, it makes Koray feel both curious and inadequate. It also doesnt help, if they lack personal time and energy to care for each other,
Sorin is always afraid Koray will realize he has options, on every front, but especially, where relationships are concerned. Having bruoised Koray’s emotions in an almost irrepable way, Sorin tries to be mindful of Koray’s feelings. So finding Koray whispering, red-faced to another, makes Sorin feel that day of dismissal has come.
He is wrong. It is a time of reckoning - but the price is more knowledge of each other, and the prize is drawing closer together.
I read this before I read the first book in the series Black Magic. I didn't realize that this was a continuation of the developing relationship of characters from the first book. Despite not reading the first book I completely understood what was going on in this one without any plot confusion. I was so charmed by main characters Koray and Sorin that I had to purchase the first book before I even finished this one so that I could immediately devour that one too!!! While this entry in the series is two fairly short snippets, the first one is an actual novel. Highly recommend to MM fans who like sweet and feisty heroes, and alternate world fantasy historicals.
I had hoped that the two stories in this small novella would expand more on the original story of the characters told in Black Magic. Though we did spend more time with Sorin and Koray, we do not see any of the other main characters for long, if at all. Also, the story in Black Magic came to too swift an end (was missing probably about 100 pages or so of character and plot development towards the end), and this novella, though pleasant, does little to actually add to that story.
It is a nice look at the relationship between Sorin and Koray, but I wanted to know what was going on with the kingdom and how the people were coping and all the of the epic stuff that happened in the first book, but this didn't really do a whole lot. It was cute, but that was kind of it.
3.5 rounded up because it's Koray and Sorin. Honestly it's more 2 codas than a sequel to me, but luckily, I love codas and slices of life of characters I came to care about. It's soft porn with a tiny bit of plot, but mostly it's just a way to enjoy Koray and Sorin for just a few pages more. It doesn't add anything to the main story, so I would only rec it to people who want more time with the characters and only that, because it's all you'll get
A continuation of the story between High Paladin Sorin and High Necromancer Koray, although this is straight up smut. It's a year after the end of the first story and Sorin and Koray are still figuring things out and feeling insecure about how they'll manage to hold the interest of the other. This is basically two vignettes of them figuring out their sexual desires. Not any plot really... Really sad about Koray's hair...I understand it was to prove a point, but I'm so sad about it.

3.5 stars. This is a decent follow up to Black Magic, and it’s pretty much all the sex that was left out of the first book. Which isn’t awful, I just hated that Derr had to throw in all of Sorin’s ex lovers to make the story what it was…
for someone who absolutely despises reading sex scenes in books, or just smut in general, i'm genuinely obsessed with this??? yes it's straight up just sex, but it's also disgustingly sweet??? idk sorin and koray now live in my head rent free 💖💖💖
Ok I know the first book didn't drew me all that much, so why start this one? Because it was 1/4th of the length of the first one and I wanted to see if it would draw me in, so that I could give the 1st one a 2nd chance. Not really soooo.... yeap. This series didn't work for me.
Well, this was really short - a bit too short for my taste. But as a follow-up to "Black magic" (please read it first, else you won't get the context!), it was nice to know how Sorin and Koray are faring after the first book ended. And here are the steamy scenes that were missing in the first book, although not much else, unfortunately: it would be an exaggeration to call this a book or even a novella - it's just two short scenes and the price is a bit high for a 30 minute read! Therefore, I give it a mere 3.3 stars.
Because it's labelled as Book 2 (on amazon) I initially bought this thinking it was going to be a continuation of the first book. However, rather than it being the next book in the series it's just two short stories featuring Koray and Sorin. I did enjoy them but I think these would have been better added on as extras in the first book. The extras are nice if you were really wanting to see more intimacy from Koray and Sorin. The first extra seemed weird, Sorin instantly jumping to wild conclusions showing that unfortunately since the last book (which wasn't that long) he didn't learn to at least take a moment to assess everything. But, because of what I got from the stories I'm feeling the "conflict" was tossed in there just so it could lead up into fast dialogue to speed to the intimate parts. Until the resolution it felt almost like Sorin was a a slightly different character, or at least an earlier version of himself that wasn't impacted by what had happened at the end of the main book. The second extra was a little better, but still had a bit awkwardness especially around the reasoning for Koray's hair. There wasn't any detail to what was in Koray's hair that made it mostly unsalvageable, and, unless I missed it, for all the despair he had about having to cut it short it didn't seem he tried to do anything other than be upset and drink about it. Both extras were nice, but just ok. I wish this was longer, and I was hoping it'd be more than just two extras, and featuring the other couples. I was disappointed it was so short and there was not more to it. Overall this was just a quick way to tack on additional intimacy for Koray and Sorin, and is probably why the extremely minor plot was non important and flimsy.
This is the second story in the Black Magic series, one I just love. The first book tells the beginnings of their romance, as they meet over the death of one of Soren’s closest friends and relatives and work together to find the murderer and the plot against the kingdom. Come to Me picks up after the events of Black Magic with Koray now ensconced as the High Necromancer, bringing the once reviled mages and necromancers back into favor in the Kingdom of Vendala where once they were all outlawed.
Had this story not been a follow-up to "Black Magic", I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, as it really is just "here is the sex that wasn't covered in the original story". It really is just two detailed sex scenes with some build-up. I wished it was longer, like a full sequel, as "Black Magic” deserves a sequel.
But I give it 4 stars because it is about Koray and Sorin, and I love them (particularly Koray). Don’t read this story if you haven’t read “Black Magic.” Otherwise the story will seem flat. The misunderstanding that is hinted at in the summary is fairly minor, and is not the bulk of the story. It’s cute enough, but again, I wish it had been part of a longer piece. I still recommend it if you have read Black Magic.
First, i really like Megan Derr's books. And i'm greedy, so i always want them to be longer. I loved Black Magic, the caracters are all developped and deep, and unperfect. And of course, most of all i loved sarcastic Koray and his Lord High Paladin. So when the firt book ended, i was a little disapoint not to see those two settle down. And there it is!!! I'm so glad for this short addition that i will not even say that i want more!!! ok...i say it: Please i want more! but hey at least they have their HEA!! so thank Miss Derr;)
Once again the subtly layered characters of Soren and Koray come to life as the stress and strain of their new relationship and duties within the Kingdom give birth to doubts about their love and commitment to each other. The author takes the realities of present day life and the toll it takes on committed couples and transfers it to her fantasy world and its inhabitants…
You need to read Black Magic before reading this. I bought this because Sorin and Koray are one of my favorite couples from the Megan Derr books I've read recently. If you thought there wasn't enough scenes with these two, then you'll be very happy with this short piece. It was a bit more explicit than what I was expecting, but there were some nice bits of fluff as well. Koray is still as cute and prickly as ever.
2,75 stars. Okay, this was a really, really short (kinda pornish, lol) story about Sorin and Koray from Black Magic. There's nothing much to say, apart that is a short story with (a lot of) smex, that were missing in the original book, for this couple. Well, it was nice to read about them again, and I'm glad to see that Koray hasn't changed at all (him and his sweet sharp tongue). XD
I long ago fell in love with the first book,"black magic". This tale just continues the tradition. Please do yourself a favor and read them in order. "Black magic" made me dread, ache, cry, laugh, and glory in their story. It's wholly worth of the title of Epic High Fantasy.
As far as a sequel would be, it is not that. This short story is "the book did not have enough smut. here you go." I enjoy any sex filled scenes that cover the grounds of consent and open communication before any dicking. Lovely on that behalf. I do also like the lines that blur away from having sex into making love.
A check in on our High Paladin and High Necromancer a year later. It isn't about anything really except for their relationship, but I was okay with that. It was sweet to see the two together and how they interacted with the changes in their lives and how they work it out. A nice little story.
Allways like to re-visit guys I enjoyed watching struggeling through a novel full of adventures, misunderstandings and bickering and allways it's too short and ends too quick but I'm allways ups for another visit.
