Her marriage a disaster, Lilly closes the door to her personal life. Can meeting Bruce open a door to a new life or will her fear shut her off from love?
All Lilly has ever wanted to do is sing, but being an internationally famous superstar has turned her life into a living nightmare. Closing the door on her destructive marriage, she runs to her best friend's rural home in northern Arizona, hoping to stay out of the public's eye and sort out her life.
Bruce Silk, a Flagstaff police officer, doesn't approve of his brother's rakish rock star lifestyle but still keeps an eye on his remote home when he's out on tour. More than once he's had to arrest groupies who invaded the property to steal some small memento from the famous Clay Silk. So why does he feel sucker-punched when he slaps the cuffs on this latest trespasser?
When One Door Closes is the first book in the “Rock Star Series.” Another Door Opens, the second book, will be released in mid-2014. Both books are stand-alone novels.

I’ve been an avid reader for years. To my husband’s dismay, I have bookshelves full of books, rooms full of books, boxes full of books. My cars have books in them. I just can’t seem to get rid of them after I read them. You just never know when you will want to read it again, right?
About two years ago, my husband gave me the dream gift, a Kindle. It was love at first sight and my first foray into the world of ebooks. To say the least, I am a technologically challenged person but when a reader, such as I, is told that you can have the book you want to read in seconds, I’m going to do whatever it takes to learn how to use it as quickly as possible.
While I still have books everywhere, I no longer take ten or twelve books with me when I go on vacation. The only thing I need is my Kindle. It never leaves my purse.
My genre of choice is romance with a paranormal twist. My authors of choice are Diana Palmer, Iris Johansen, Catherine Coulter, Jill Gregory and of course, the queen, Nora Roberts. I am also very partial to Michael Connelly, who is not a romance author but damn that man can write!
In my life prior to becoming an author, I was a Legal Assistant/Office Manager for a wonderful local estate planning attorney (no criminals that I know of). Prior to that, I also worked my way up the ladder in a large corporation, from payroll clerk to supervising nine employees in operational accounting.
When my children, Shandelle and Pilar, were small, I took a few years off to be a full-time mom and help my husband with his accounting work for his auto repair shop.
After, Michael, my husband, sold his business, he changed professions and started working for a national construction company.
Michael and I raised two beautiful, strong women so that’s who I write about. The women in my books are strong individuals that have moments of weakness and frailty to work through.
OK, I know it seems to be that almost every author believes in love at first sight (or just MINE! in paranormal romance) but i still like to find my romance a bit more believable or perhaps I am jaded against such things.
This is a great story, I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the setting and loved the ending. I gave it 4 Stars and here are the picky things why it was not 5.
Almost instant romance (actually happened twice), playboy rock star never really exhibits that persona, somebody never gets the beating of his life that he richly deserves (OK, maybe that is just me since I am a heavily addicted "revenge junkie").
Bruce and Lilly make a great couple but this whole book is pretty much stolen IMHO by Martha who is probably the character that made me laugh the most.
The book made me laugh, made me mad, made me feel the pain of the characters at times, that kinda adds up to a good book that is well written.
You can read the synopsis to get the crux of the story (no reason for me to repeat it just to make this longer)but other than the minor things I mention above I loved it and assume there is another book coming to polish off a couple of things left hanging in this book, I will be reading that one for sure as soon as I can get it.
This is the fifth story written by award winning Author Sandy Wolters. Her finely honed, excellent writing style swoops the reader right into her tales of romance, mystery, struggles, and tenderness. In this story, Officer Bruce Silk stops one evening to check on the security of his brother Clayton's opulent home while he's away playing the famous rock star celebrity role. Bruce see's that the security system has been turned off and he fears another rock music groupie has invaded the house to steal a souvenir. He withdraws his Glock pistol and moves quietly through the house, room by room. He hears a cell phone ring at the back of the house. He moves toward the sliding glass doors to the back deck and sees a woman sitting at the table, clutching a bottle of whiskey with bright tears rolling down her cheeks. Her beauty is extraordinary, sweeping his breath away. But, he's a police officer, on a mission, and she is an intruder. He swiftly confronts her, pointing his gun boldly at her. He treats her as a criminal, but not for long as he soon discovers that she is the famous singer and entertainer, Lilly Cabrera, a very close friend of Clayton's. Clayton has offered his residence to Lilly to use any time when pressures of the career get to her. And she is under much more pressure in that her marriage has failed and her husband has been threatening her. Clayton's home in Arizona was to be her safe harbor to help her get priorities in life straightened out and balanced. Little does she suspect that she has innocently brought chaos with her to northern Arizona. This story hooked me right from the start with many memorable, exhilarating characters who warmed my heart and made me laugh and smile. Yes, love is a many splendid thing, and Author Sandy Wolters knows how to write about it. Needless to say, she has me hooked and I'm looking forward to her next compelling novel very soon. I can't wait!
Have you ever believed in love at first sight, well if you didn't you will after you read this book . Lily is staying at her best friends house in the country . When she is arrested by hunky cop Bruce, who happens to be Clay's brother, Little does he know that Lily will not only take his breath away she will also steal his heart.
This book had me laughing hard example Barney the dog running Lily over when they first met.
This is Barney , so now you understand why I was laughing so hard when I read that scene
I think that Martha the housekeeper stole the book for me . From knocking Lily out when she first meets Lily, to doting on everyone in the family like a mother hen. She just always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Leading to some very comical situation. The Silk brothers are very hot sexy men. Clay is the rock n roll god that is Lily's best friend, and Bruce who steals her heart .
They both only want to protect and love her in their own ways.
There are so many emotions in this book, You are happy, sad , angry and laughing in a matter of
pages . You won't put the book down. The only sad thing is that it has to end. There are a few loose ends in the book. Like what happens to Clay and Martha. The only thing I can say is Sandy can write a good story . So if you want a good read for a winter night. Give this one a try . I promise you will end up with a book hangover if you start this before going to bed. Also trust me you will want to snuggle with barney

Such a sweet story. This book can make me a believer of love at first sight. The chemistry between the two main characters was off the charts. I loved Bruce and his doggy, and Lilly was a sweetheart. I wish it were longer. I didn't want it to end!
I was quite surprised by this book. I don't typically read rock star romances because they aren't my forte. However, Lilly isn't your typical rock star and didn't sleep around.
Trying to recover from her failed marriage, Lilly ran to Arizona to lick her wounds and be with her best friend Clay Silk.
Bruce Silk doesn't approve of his brother's ways, but still agrees to watch his house while he is away. He never expected to find love with a woman he assumed was a groupie.
This was a very fun read with side characters that had me laughing (especially Martha). My only complaint with this book, and hopefully answers will be given in the second book, but the ex-husband aspect just kind of seemed to be left hanging in the air. I was also hoping we'd understand more about why Lilly was attacked...maybe her ex hired them after the divorce. These are things I was hoping we would get.
I enjoyed reading When One Door Opens. This was the first book I've read written by Sandy Wolters. This book was an easy read. I was to the end before I knew it. I love how two characters can look at each other and know that their meant to be. No matter what the conditions are that bring them together. "When one door closes, another one opens." I enjoy reading rockstar romances. I will be reading Another One Opens in the near future. If you believe in love at first sight make this a must read.
