CONSEQUENCES - ✭✭✭✭✭ I have reviewed this book, like 5 times since my first review in August of 2011 when I first read it. I think it is no secret that Aleatha Romig is one of my faves ☺ I get giddy just thinking about the level of excitement and frustration I felt when I first read CONSEQUENCES. I was a little crazed by the "not knowing" what was going to happen next, but that’s half the fun, right? I struggled with wanting to strangle and hug Aleatha Romig for creating a story that elicited such powerful emotions in me. If you are looking for a psychological thriller, then look no further, because you have found it! CONSEQUENCES is definitely a book you have to read. I hope it evokes the same crazy emotions in you that it did in me and I hope you love it as much as I did!

COMFORT OBJECT - ✭✭✭✭✭ This was my very first Annabel Joseph novel and I loved every minute of it! I thought the way their relationship began was most unique--great ramp up to a wonderful story.

TEARS OF TESS - ✭✭✭✭✭ Now this is what I’m talkin’ about! I have found a new favorite Dark Diva in the dark erotic romance genre and her name is Pepper Winters. The dark elements are romanticized to appeal to a broader range of readers (strictly my opinion), but I read everything from the really tame to the totally taboo and I still thought it was well done. This one earns a big thumbs up from me!

CAPTIVE IN THE DARK - ✭✭✭✭✩ This dark tale should satisfy those who are fans of the captor/captive theme as well as the more extreme emotional side of the Dominant/submissive roles.


I am excited about reading the other books in this bundle. MAKE ME is like a smorgasbord of delectable darkness – what a genius idea, ladies!

I had already read a few of the books in this but it was cheaper to buy this anthology to read the ones I had not read than to buy them separately. There was a few I did not like and one or two I personally didn't think was dark but overall there was a good collection of stories.

OMG EVERYONE! Pick this up. It's only $1 and what a great deal. 12 top authors (some of my favorites) all together in one book. These are all dark erotic stories, many are non-consensual sex BUT what a deal!

Definitely partial to Shoshanna's “Sexily Evers Afters,” I expressly got this collection just so that I could read one of her books (The Man Who Holds the Whip) at a two-dollar discount. The caveat? That this book came with eleven others from authors whom I've never read before. Of course, the first book I read was Shoshanna's. I'll eventually get to the others. However, I wanted to post a review as soon as possible on this collection. If Shoshanna's story alone is any indication of the quality of the entire collection, then I'd say that this collection is a must-have.

The Man Who Holds the Whip is a BDSM contemporary romance between Grace Pontaine and her ex-boyfriend Ian from three years back. After a trying day at work as a nurse practitioner, Grace caves into an evening of wine to drown in her woes of being disrespected by an arrogant boss. Furthermore, she does the one thing that often results from her drunken spells: she texts Ian. Unlike the many times before when he responds from a standoffish manner, he actually bares a secret that shocks Grace into actually looking more into it.

Apparently, he stepped away from his old life—leaving her and his life as a lawyer—to work as a Dom for an internet porn site. Grace, intrigued and aroused by the little she did see at the website, takes matters into her own hands. If showing up at the studio is the only way to see Ian now, then she may just as well test how far she would go to do that—including auditioning and starring in a video herself! At a rate that exceeds a whole week's pay per video, how can Grace pass up such an opportunity? Then again, she has been living her life as a goody-two shoes who has done everything right and respectable. Who's to say that Ian wants her back anyway when he left years ago and broke her heart? Can she with her vanilla ways really fulfill his kinky needs?

OMG ......these Twelve books drove me insane.
The Heart wrenching emotion, and Sado-Masachistic lust is just over powering every page from the start of the first book to the last. These are not short reads. Each book is 200 pages or more so this Anthology took me some time to get through , but i enjoyed almost all of these Dark Erotica books.
My favs have to be Consequences, Play with me ,Beneath the burn,The hostage bargain,Captive in the dark and Tears for Tess.
Hope there is a make me #2 soon .

I LOVED this book and enjoyed the series so much i bought this anthology to find more reads just like it .(I reviewed this book already )

WANDERLUST - SKYE WARREN (*** STARS)
This was a OMG ...... what the F*ck are you doing kind of read.
A little bit Scary and a little bit crazy weird.
A niave female charactor is abducted from a truck stop , after she leaves the confines of her overbearing mother's home to venture out into the world for the first time in her life. Lets just say she doesn't make it to far before trouble finds her.


PLAY WITH ME - ELIZA GAYLE (**** STARS)
I wasn't into this story at first . It takes you a few pages before you get into it , but once you're there you're hooked.
Eve works for Chase and Murphy at Their erotic photography company.She wants Chase so bad that when a client needs a model that looks like her ,she jumps at the chance she may never have again.

TAKE ME , BREAK ME - CARI SILVERWOOD (***1/2 STARS)
I have nothing against this kind of erotic fantasy read , but it just seemed so ...ehhh Faked in the beginning.
Jodie wants to document on tape a Capture fantasy , but she put in place all the rules .Klause doesn't like the rules ,makes his own . the story gets better once he does . He makes her need him and then abruptly ends things . the ending is a complete mind f*ck.

TAKE YOUR PLEASURE -JASMINE HAYES (**STARS)
I enjoyed this storyline and charactors except the part where the Ex boyfriend Van got in on the action,during a played out Dom,sub scene.I was just not ready for it i guess although it made Natalie realize she really wanted Lincoln.
Natalie comes home one evening to catch her boyfriend Van in a situation with another female. She screws up at work and her boss Lincoln Takes Control .

BENEATH THE BURN - PAM GODWN (*****STARS)
I am in awe of the writing in this Dark ,emotional book.I loved the broken charcators of both Charlee and Jay.How they somehow overcome these Heartbreaking obsticles to find that they are the missing pieces to each others faulty puzzles.In the beginning i wasn't sure i would read on because of the horrible rape scenes between Roy and Charlee ,but i'm glad i did.It's not about the abuse , it's about finding your own way to overcome the Darkness inside yourself and putting your trust in others.
Charlee is on the run from Roy . who has used her since she was a teen.He wreaks havic and kills whomever comes between them until Nathan and Jay come up with a plan to save her .Charlee meanwhile does a little bit of saving Jay in the process.

COMFORT OBJECT - ANNABEL JOSEPH (***STARS)
The story was good ,but it was to much like Fifty Shades of Grey.
Hot actor hires a woman from a BDSM club to play his girlfriend in public, his sex slave in the bedroom but not fall in love with him. Guess what happens ???

ENSLAVED- CLAIRE THOMPSON (** STARS)
I couldn't get past the fact that once the female charactor was taken hostage.She was put in a dog crate ,made to pee in a plastic bottle and drink from a hampster water bottle. That was taken it a bit to far for me .
Rae works for Sam .He finds out she stole alot of money from him,but instead of calling the cops .He decides to make her his Sex slave .

THE HOSTAGE BARGAIN - ANNIKA MARTIN ( ****STARS)
Loved this book, it was full of Action, suspense , hot guys named after gods, great sex scenes and just the right amount of emotion.
Zues , Thor , and Odin rob a bank. Melinda the bank teller wants to be taken by them in more ways than one .

THE MAN WHO HOLDS THE WHIP - SHOSHANNA EVERS (**STARS)
I really wasn't into this story , although i read the whole thing and tried.
Grace is a nurse , she used to date Ian,but he left her high and dry one day out of the blue .She reconnects with him ,but he has a secret to tell her about why he had to leave.
What is the secret and will Grace accept Ian for who he really is ??

CAPTIVE IN THE DARK - CJ ROBERTS (*****STARS)
These two tortured souls were an emotional rollercoaster ride of F*cked - up situations,but Me, my tissues and puffy tear- filled eyes enjoyed every word written .The stuff that happens to them is pure torture.
Caleb and Livvie or Master and Kitten are two broken people that have connected through horrible circumstances. Raw emotion, romance , suspence and action fill the pages of this book.
He is her captor and savior, she is his captive and the only person who knows the way out of his own personal hell.

TEARS OF TESS - PEPPERWINTERS (***** STARS)
OMG....... The shit that happens in this book is so mind- blowing , Dark and Disturbing at times , but i got hooked .
Tess and her vanilla boyfriend go on a trip to cancun. where she plans to tell him she wants them to be more kinky in the bedroom.
You know that saying .....Sometimes you get what you wish for . Well Tess quickly wishes she didn't.
She gets kidnapped,put through Horrible situations,then sold to her new master Q.
She wants to go home , but eventually realizes she can't go back because Q has awakened something inside of her that she has never felt before and now can't live without.

WANDERLUST by Skye Warren - one of my favorite books of 2013. I am a big fan of dark erotica so the author’s warning and the subject matter did not scare me away, and you shouldn’t shy away from this story either! The author has crafted a heart-wrenching tale of pain, survival and love that will leave you wanting much more of Evie and Hunter’s story.

Can love come from pain? This is the theme of Wanderlust. Our heroine Evie is running away from a painful past and searching for emotional and physical freedom while on a trek across the U.S. to see Niagra Falls. Hunter is a trucker and let’s just say they have a fateful encounter while on the open road. Is Hunter a monster? I don’t think so, and in fact, I LOVED his character. Will Evie find the freedom she is seeking? Read the story and you will find out.

Ms. Warren has created two richly-drawn characters that haunted me long after I finished their story. I was immediately drawn into Evie and Hunter’s lives and I felt a deep connection with them from the beginning of the story. That connection is essential to me as a reader and that is why I feel so strongly about this story and the author. No spoilers -- suffice it to say the storyline is absolutely surprising and incredibly fulfilling. The sex scenes in this book are disturbing, graphic and very, very satisfying. Wanderlust was the first book I have read by Skye Warren and I look forward to reading many more of her stories.

BENEATH THE BURN by Pam Godwin - this story has it all: gritty and thrilling story, deep romance, BDSM, strong characters, darkness and light. Definite 6-star read for me. Charlee and Jay are deeply flawed, richly drawn characters who I cared about from the very first page. Charlee endures almost unimaginable pain and horror at the hands of her captor yet emerges as a survivor. Jay has also endured severe trauma and struggles to deal with his past in his own way. This book has everything that I love: graphic sex, strong characters, a thrilling storyline, and very dark and gritty elements. This book will stay with you long after you finish. I can't recommend it highly enough.

CONSEQUENCES by Aleatha Romig - A roller coaster of a read. I think I was one of the few readers who actually loved Tony! These characters will haunt you. Especially if you stay up until 2:00 AM reading this book! Amazing debut by Aleatha Romig. I had to join the Goodreads Support Group after finishing this book! Seriously, read this book. You will not be disappointed. One of my top 10 for 2012.

TEARS OF TESS by Pepper Winters - This story will follow you long after you finish reading. I absolutely love dark and angsty books (hello, Captive in the Dark and Comfort Food) so the story line was perfect. The author takes you on an emotional roller coaster with this book and does not let up until the very last word. Tess is a strong and willful character and never once gives in to her situation. Her "master" Q is just amazing, yes, I said it, dark, sexy, irresistible...but there's much more to the man and his background then meets the eye. There's lots of very explicit sex, violence, slavery themes, BDSM and disturbing images in Tears of Tess but there's also beauty, redemption, exotic locales and incredibly well-written characters. I cannot wait for the next book from this author, which will be about Q.

CAPTIVE IN THE DARK by CJ Roberts - One of my all-time favorite dark reads, you will never forget Caleb and Olivia. This is a must-read series and one of the most captivating (no pun intended) books I have ever read.

Anabel Joseph is another favorite author of mine and I can't wait to read her story, along with the other authors whose works I have not yet read. This set is a steal at $2.99!!

WOW!!! I can NOT believe this 12 book set was only 99 cents if pre-ordered...but even at the current price of 2.99 it is a steal!! Seriously, I already own the individual versions of several of the books contained in here and on their own they were worth paying for...so if you love the darker, more raw side of erotica and romance, this is the sample taster for you!
My favorites out of here are definitely Tears of Tess, Captive in the Dark (OMG!), Beneath the Burn (LOVE!) and Wanderlust...but every one of them has something different and with a few exceptions all worth owning. The great thing is that for this small price (which is about the cost of ONE book) you can own 12 of some of the best non-conventional romance books available. Be open minded when you read them though...they are not all "pretty and sweet" like typical romance and I would say some are not romantic at all in my opinion...but a change of pace from the norm. Deliciously twisted and will have you begging for either a cold shower or your own "master" to put you out of your misery...LOL!

I finally finished reading Make Me, the anthology. Really good!
Regarding the Pam Godwin story Beneath the Burn...Wow! Powerful. The
female character is fascinating--she has been cruelly conditioned to
associate pain with pleasure, and has also built mental defenses, to
protect herself from her abuser, to such an extent that she is unable to
feel, unless extreme sexual violence is done to her. That, and the
intricate connection to the flawed, torn rockstar hero, is so
fitting...I have been contemplating the story for days. It really
affected me.

On the other hand, Two Doms For Angel by Holly Roberts...a
disappointment. I mostly liked the Club El Diablo books, but this one
fell short. Nice premise...Marine who had helped rescue enslaved women,
is also mentored in bdsm and Shibari by a Dom. Years later, the Dom asks
him to "babysit" his slave while the Dom is away. Of course,it turns out
the slave is the rescued woman, whom the Marine has loved all along. Will
they become a happy triple? Of course...just have to go through the pangs
of difficulty and conscience, to reach the HEA.

Not handled well by the author, plus she adds in weird tidbits about
hair and biting fetishes without exploring them. I was not pleased by
this story...I wanted to like it, but it failed on several levels.

Some are good.....Some Great

I thought this was a good compilation of like-minded books. While theses books are not for everyone it gives the reader a chance to read authors perhaps they may not have read before.

There are books in here that are first in a series and some that end with a cliffhanger.

I have already read several books in this compilation previously I enjoyed reconnecting with the characters and authors.

I especially liked Take your Pleasure. I thought it was a sweet read and wished it was longer.

I don't write many reviews but am going to for this one. I have really mixed feelings about this boxed set. Some stories I loved (like Take Me Break Me), some I didn't think were all that dark, and a couple I DNF'd because I couldn't stand the hero. Most boxed sets are like this, though, so it's not necessarily any worse or different with this one, but the subject matter is such that it's easy to go too far with some readers, and though I'm a pretty open-minded reader, some of the stories simply went out of my comfort zone.

Tears of Tess 5 star read.
Captive in the Dark 5 star read.

The burn 5star read, loved it. Suspense, romance, intense cruelty, romance.

The rest of the books just didn’t do it for me. Sex, sex, and more sex but with no believable story. Stories seemed rushed with no substance. 3 stars max.

Great writing

These were hard stories for me to read as the contained several triggers. They were well written and I have enjoyed many of the authors with other books.
