This three book bundle includes the first three volumes in the acclaimed epic fantasy series, Harbinger of Doom.
Mad wizards wrenched open a gateway to hell on Eotrus land. A gateway that's determined to stay open.
What is the young knight, Claradon Eotrus, to do when he discovers that the man he recruited to help him close that gateway is either the greatest hero the world has ever known or the devil himself, thrown down from the heavens by the gods in olden days? Is he out to save Midgaard or destroy it? Does he serve the Norse gods: Odin, Thor, and the rest, or did he slay them? And if he's truly the harbinger of doom, how can Claradon stop him? How can he even survive him?
Claradon's Midgaard is a world filled of valiant knights, mysterious sorcerers, ruthless bounty hunters, complex political intrigues, monsters of myth and legend: the undead of this variety and that, gods and demons, and otherworldly evils so frightening you dare not read these books before sleep. But most of all, it's filled with stories that you will always remember, and characters that you will never forget.

First book I've read with any reference to Norse Mythology and I LOVED IT! ! Never reached a dull moment while reading. No unnecessary fillers or heavy lengthy internal monologues. It was straight to the action for this one. There is something about seeing different people come together for battle as a unit that does it for me.
I must add; What a way to end a book! On to the next.
Glenn Thater is a master the likes of Tolkien!! I haven't had the pleasure of reading such a great fantasy in years. He weaves a tale that breathes life into each character and creates a detailed picture in your mind. I will be finishing this series. Many thanks to the publisher for this three volume set I won on the giveaway they did on Goodreads.
I read this from the free Three Book Bundle. Book 1: The first book in the series is good, but not great. I really like the style of the story: Gothic, Norse, Demons, etc. But there is something missing for me to rate the book more than 3 stars. I've read in other reviews that the series is getting better with each book and I'm inclined to believe it. The main problem for me is the often long descriptions (of the setting, the weapons, the armor etc.) that slow the pacing of the story. But when the action finally starts rolling, heads literally start rolling and it's really good with plenty of gore. The author's writing style is easy to read and evocative enough to picture the ambience and the world he created. So I will be there for the next installment and hopefully The Harbinger of Doom will bring a louder Doom.
Book 2: I thought book 2 of The Harbinger of Doom Saga was better than book 1, but not enough to bring up the rating to 4 stars. The story is more focus, with less characters, a great sense of adventure and strong world-building. Even doe there was less active in the book the pace seems faster and easily kept my attention throughout. The characters and the overall setting are getting more defined (psychologically and physically), religion and dark magic take centre stage in this part of the story and the plot is moving along nicely. As other reviewers. As other reviewers have said, I feel confident that this series will only get better and better.
Book 3: After a better and promising second book, this third book did not lived up to the trend. The story is just a long slow pursuit with plenty of preparation, riding, boat trip and more preparation. There is one or two action (fight) sequences but nearly not enough to save the story or help the pacing in general. Also, I found that the author is loosing the great gothic-like atmosphere that was present in the previous books. Sadly this is the end of the road for me with The Harbinger of Doom Saga as I have lost interest in the series.
I've been reading this book during my commuting to work. I missed my station few times as I couldn't stop reading to know what happened the next page. I think is very well written and I particularly like the development of the characters and the fact that nobody is safe no matter who they are. I have played Dungeons and dragons in my teens and this book brought back lots of memories. I can't believe that it is free. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to read to next one
I love this book....i give this book five stars.................... I loved how it ended. I read all three of em. All of them are great but i love the first book. The first book is always better than the first one....
Really enjoyed these 3 books just purchased the next and started reading Just finished listening to the audio version of book 1 it gives the story a whole new dimension will now hear the voices of the characters when reading the remaining books
These are the first three volumes in an ongoing fantasy series by the author. He combines familiar tropes in the high fantasy genre with Norse mythology. Thankfully he provides a guide at the end of each volume to help you along the way.
Rich characters fully developed and reflecting consistent beliefs and character traits throughout their very active adventures. Well developed, clear, consistent and executed.
The reviews are on the respective books. But this is the book to get started on since it's free on Amazon and if you don't like the first, read the second. You'll be hooked.
An excellent series, I could not stop reading. The three books flowed seamlessly. And it was original, engaging, and the characters were amazing. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Firstly, if you want a big picture novel that doesn't focus on the details this book is for you. Secondly, for some reason I expected there to be more detail in this story than there was and that's partly why I gave it 3 stars.
What I enjoyed? -The banter between characters -Some of the twists in the plot
What I disliked? -At times I felt there were opportunities in the plot for the author to explore and frustratingly (and possibly too often) there was a single sentence resolving the issue (or issues) or cutting off a path that the story could take without any further explanation. -In addition, there were times when I felt I was missing some of the plot as though the story had jumped forward in time or progressed in the background without explanation.
Whilst enjoyable this could easily have been combined into one novel rather than three, albeit short, novels. Cannot complain as free but after reading this opener the series would have to improve to keep interest for what i believe from other reviews is eleven novels and counting!!! Really.
The first book was wonderful, pulled the reader into the story right away. The second book - not so much. It gave me feeling that it was wrong, bad, that I shouldn't read it, so I only skimmed it. The third book was also well written. The characters were good, evil and was the character good or was he evil?. Have to read the next book in the series to find out.
Lots of military action, medieval magic, somewhat dungeon and dragon novel with horror evil monsters. Very good characterization, magic and religious evil cults well described. The way people are killed or punished in this novel is too graphic and disgusting at times.
I have been intrigued by the mathematical references and the recapitulation of religious history. The main story is reminiscent of Conan the Barbarian. I did not like it ending with a central character being skewered. Seems like a cliff hanger. Makes me reluctant to go further in the series.
I've been reading this on and off for th past 5 years as I don't read many ebooks, only when I'm at places without a physical book. It's very enjoyable for that and if I run out of ebooks I'll probably look into getting the other parts in the series.
I won this book as a Goodreads giveaway. Great, spun tale drawing from Norse mythology as well as elements of Tolkien. If fantasy is your favorite you will love adding this to your list.
